la Madeleine was the spot for brunch today. Honestly, I wished I remembered to come her more frequently! I had the choice of three (3) from the salads and soup. I chose the spinach salad with pecans, strawberries and bacon. Second choice was the chicken salad. Third and final choice was the french onion soup. I wouldn't try anything different next time! Been infrequent with the franchise but i hold it in personal high regards, ever since a child to now being an adult. Due to circumstances, this location is a godsend. Staff has been a pleasant and on par, no issues to dish. Comes with a fireplace which is very good to have as i write during the cold season. Heres a few things to digest. The food portions are modestly sized. The potato hash patty is a satisfying choice. The tomato and basil soup is a great staple, sometimes either too hot or just right but i don't mind either. I was completely disappointed when I went in for breakfast at 9:45 am. As I walked in the door I was told the only thing they have is quiche. Ok. That's what we both ordered with coffee. The quiche was like rubber. Like it had been sitting out for hours. And the coffee was weak. Very long time La Madeleine customer, like since the late 80's. The franchise has changed a lot since the days of the seductive scent of rosemary rotisserie chicken wafting though the galleria. It's a lot more soulless now but that's what happened when a small business scales up. Just some friendly advice to the Tyler location 1. Please pull the the ticket time differential from when your front attendant places the kitchen order vs the check out time on the ticket after the customer flows through the line. What you'll find is that you have a huge back up at the salad prep that makes a long and very slow line form nearly to the door despite a relatively empty restaurant. I saw 5 tickets enter, see the line and leave without ordering, more than enough revenue to get your staffing right 2. I realize this isn't the same LeMadeleine we all learned to love, but reaching for prep pouches of salad toppings in gross glad bags and foil bags of chicken reminiscent of Subway kills the French Country mood. Be like Disney and figure out a way to keep the dream alive and move that stuff behind the curtain 3. Please be more descriptive in your menu descriptions for everyone's sake. My son ordered fresh toast, but there was no mention of it being raisin toast. No chance he'd eat it, and we didn't discover until it was brought to us. I've been eyeing this place for a few months wanted to check it out. Finally had time to take my girls and mom for the first time. Was cute from the outside and when you walk in very warm inviting restaurant. We came in about 12:20pm stood in line for about 20 minutes and finally had our order put in at 12:41pm. It was busy they also have a line for take out. The 2 soups we ordered were given to us right away then we waited about 10-15 minutes and got one of our meals brought to us. We also ordered two crepes, a chicken entree and a latte as well as a kid's scrambled eggs/bacon meal. Waited another 30 minutes and they finally brought the 2 crepes and kids meal. Told the server we were still missing the latte which should have been brought first thing and also the chicken entrée plate. 20 minutes go by still nothing. Wait a few more minutes then I go up to the cashier tell them we still haven't received the two items, showed them receipt. They said ok we'll get that for you and one of the girls said I'm sorry about that. Latte gets brought to our table in about 2 minutes, the missing chicken plate took another 10 minutes and finally shows up, so I grab a Togo box and box it up myself. We left a little after 2pm. No customer service there whatsoever. Honestly over an hour to wait for food is a little ridiculous especially for something like a latte. They just completely forgot about that all together and then to wait another 30 minutes after I mentioned the first time that we were missing items we ordered. Food was not bad tasting and it was presentable but most of the hot meals were cold when brought to us, the customer service is terrible! The servers just drop off food without barely saying a word. They leave it at the end of the table with barely any eye contact like "here ya go" No offer that they messed up or offer a gift card or discount, something. Just ridiculous! Being from the Dallas/Ft. worth area I am used to seeing La Madeleine around the area. It is usually a good choice when thinking about breakfast or just want some coffee or a quick danish. This location is peculiar. I am not sure if the some of the staffs curtness (on the ordering line specifically) was a symptom of it being Black Friday or they are usually short with people as they order. Luckily when our food was brought out, the lady that came out was very kind and considerate of our needs. Helps also that she had a french accent to go along with the restaurant.
