After moving into the area, I've had my list of places to try for for a great Gyro. I have a high bar set because I've had some great Gyro Sandwiches. I tried one other place in Tyler and it was decent but a bit farther than I wanted to drive. I ordered the OG Gyro and an extra side of fries. Gyro was amazing! The fries were outstanding! Crisp on the outside and hot in the middle. I am relieved to now have a go to spot for when I'm craving a gryo. Every time I've come with husband for a lunch break there is great, friendly service, clean bathrooms, freshly made pita bread for the yummy gyros or chicken shawarma and it's prepared considerably quick. The homemade hummus is delicious and the seasoned fried are great as well. You can't go wrong with anything you order. read more

This review involves only two items on the menu--the original beef/lamb gyro and the kimchi fries. While the food was quite good, the preparation was not up to par, in our opinion. The gyro meat was tasty and plentiful, but it was cut too thick for our liking. The employee preparing the gyro was a bit careless, in that the sandwiches had only one tiny slice of tomato and no onions. The pita bread was slightly tough, as though it hadn't been heated sufficiently. The kimchi fries were perfectly cooked and surprisingly tasty. Unfortunately, the moistness of the kimchi and sauce ladled across them caused the fries to become soggy before we could eat more than half the ample serving. A possible fix would be to consider serving the kimchi and sauce on the side, so as to allow the customer to enjoy fully the wonderfully crispy fries. The two gyros, fries and two drinks cost nearly $40-perhaps not out of line for the specialty of the offerings, but definitely consistent with the overall hyperinflation of restaurant food. We would return to try other dishes. read more

It's our first time here. Walked in and only saw men's sitting and dining. There was one person in front of us and one being helped at the register. It wasn't even a long wait. Plenty of seating space with upbeat music playing in the background. Cashier that took our order was friendly and quick. Just so happened that we came in with four orders ahead of us that would wipe out the meat. He has some cooking but it will be an extra 10-15 minutes wait. Being pregnant and starving I didn't get the OG which was my plan. Instead we opted out for The Almighty. No updated menu prices listed in the pictures here since 2-3 years ago. Found my new go-to for gyros! Everything was super flavorful and well balanced. I cannot recommend the kimchi fries enough! Everyone working was very nice and checked on us multiple times. A true foodie treasure is back and as delicious as ever!! For any local foodies in the Tyler area, you knew who What About Kabobs was. They were locally owned gyros of awesome! But the owners sadly had to move on and the business changed hands a time or two before what all thought was closing for good. Then low and behold, a new owner gave us new hope when he bought the rights and started a good truck! Loyal fans everywhere rejoiced and followed as best we could. But winter was brutal, cold, and abnormally wet that year. Then Covid... And it closes again. But the owner said to hang on and hope. He wasn't done yet. Now they're back open on South Broadway in another shop and the food is...AWESOME!!! Fresh cooked to order gyros, falafel, shawarma and more are awaiting you! The vibe is great inside and at 5:00 when they opened fir dinner, folks were waiting to get in! Make sure the next time they're open, you're in line too! The food was yummy! When you want to go back again right after finishing your food, it means it was good.

We got here just before 11:00 a.m. (before they open) on a Saturday. They let us in even though they weren't ready. All 3 of the employees were very nice and greeted us, even though they were busy prepping. We were instantly met with the smell of goodness (you know fried food and grilled meats). We ordered falafel with sriracha mayo($5), OG on pita (no onion) with original tiki ($10), and OG on seasoned fries with original tiki($10), and a side of curry ketchup ($0.50). Omg it was way too much. Neither of us could finish. We have finally found a place that rivals Houston Greek for taste and quality. This place best them in value. 10/10 for the gyro fries. I think about these fries often. Definitely at least once a day. I'm thinking about them right now, they're that good... I think my fiancé and I at this point have tried all the different types of gyros! My favorite is the OG, but the philly cheesesteak is a close second. On our first trip here, we made the mistake of getting the ghost pepper tzatziki, thinking we could handle it. Plot twist: we could not handle it. One of the employees saw us struggling and gave us extra of the original tzatziki sauce for free, and it DEFINITELY helped cool our mouths down. I'm just warning you now: do NOT get the ghost pepper and spread it everywhere because it will DESTROY your mouth. It is NO JOKE spicy. I loved every second of it though - although my stomach didn't hours later! A close second favorite is the chipotle tzatziki - can I also give a shout out to the awesome different flavors of tzatziki?! They're all so good! TLDR; skip the wrap and get the fries.
