We live about 30 miles south. Honestly, Little Italy is our go to restaurant when in Tyler. We were there today when I had an appointment at the VA clinic. Service is always quick and courteous. Most of the time we stick with the lunch specials, an entre, excellent yeast rolls, and soup or salad. Lowest cost eat in town for lunch. We went off the special menu today and had something different, Meals came out quickly and very good. Like I said it is our usual when in town, usually for lunch. At our ages we rarely eat out for the evening meal as I do not like to drive after dark. Been a regular customer there for well over ten years now! Great food!!! We love Little Italy! We've been eating here for decades. Our son wanted to eat here for his high school graduation and that was 30 years ago. The rolls are so good. Little Italy is such a nice local spot and you can tell it's a family-owned business. The spaghetti was comforting and flavorful, and my granddaughter really enjoyed her pepperoni pizza. The super sub was huge and delicious, plenty to share. The only thing we didn't love was the beef and cabbage soup, which was a bit bland compared to the other dishes. We did add salt and pepper which helped a little. The service was friendly and attentive, we were seated right away, and the ambiance was cozy and welcoming. The service started out perfectly with Lisa aa our waitress. She was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was excellently prepared and had the BEST taste by far in so many commercial Italian Restaurants. You tell that this food is cooked with intension of the customers experience. There is a lot to be appreciated here: The service was excellent, the marinara sauce much to our liking, as were the very tasty meatballs. We also thought the pricing made for a good value. Kudos, by the way, for the homemade pasta. However, we had to do a thumbs down on two items that could so easily be corrected. The first was the half inch of water in the bottom of the spaghetti bowl. This is perhaps one of the worst transgressions in an Italian restaurant, as the cooking water dilutes the sauce, and the result is a disgusting marinara soup. This is a pervasive problem in restaurants when whoever plates the pasta doesn't take a few extra seconds to ensure complete drainage of the cooking water. I even spoke to the manager about it, and she agreed it was a problem. (I wasn't offered any goodwill gesture, however.) So, a full star must be forfeited for this transgression. The other lost star is for the bread, advertised as homemade--which it appeared to be--but the stingy application of butter and seasoning on top was a ruse, to make you think the mass of thick, tasteless dough underneath was something worth eating. What a waste of effort, when your energy could easily be devoted to a rich, garlicky, buttery sensation that would be the talk of the restaurant scene. It's not hard; maybe the owners need to get out more and see who's doing it right. read more

It has been a while since I have been to Little Italy but it was where I wanted to go for my Mothers Day treat 2025. I ordered the Chicken Murphy pasta dish with salad/house dressing. The salad was good (iceberg)but needed to be spun as the lettuce leaves were quite wet. The house dressing was yummy as always. The rolls were nice and soft and you do get one free additional basket for the asking. The Chicken Murphy was delicious!!! The sauce, veggies, chicken were seasoned to perfection!! This was probably the best pasta dish I have ever tasted. I highly recommend it. Service was great. Restaurant appeared clean and I was happy to see lots of other people dining with us. Celebrated my 65th birthday here with best friend/wife, daughter & MIL. Me/Mrs had Chilean Sea-bass with 5-jumbo shrimp. Perfect! Daughter thoroughly enjoyed Seafood combo. So... when I go in to ask them to upgrade to the meal, here is what they told me. The Shrimp Scampi - ON THE MENU is $19.95 so I have to charge you for a side of noodles and a side salad. She rang it up to $12.58. I paid then thought....... I just paid $25 for a $16.95 entre. So I ask for some of my money back.. she would NOT adjust it because "the register" does not know how to communicate with the kitchen to upgrade the order. "then don't use to register, go to the kitchen and tell them." Then I asked to see the menu and also noticed that the Scampi was not even $19.95, it was $17.95 so she lied and over charged me. I was PISSED at that point. Yall, if you could see the meal. I didn't take a pic. The $5.99 side salad was one cup of chopped lettuce, and ONE tomato Wedge. LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE..... NOTHING ELSE!!! NOTHING ELSE YO!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEN.... the $5.00 side of noodles that I ordered was not even a side of noodles. IT WAS THE ENTREE SIZE, all together like I ordered a $16.95 meal. I would have rather had the extra noodles that I paid for. She said the side order was way bigger than the amount that came in the entre, that's why it was $5.99. In my mind - I was thinking they would charge me the $4 or $5 difference and make it an entree... they did not. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. But I did learn that their food is cheaper on the app if you don't do what I did. They are charging wayyyyyy more in the resturaunt AND you have to tip. ROBBERY!! Total waste of money. Party of 8 and no one enjoyed the food but the 2 yr old. Diet Coke was flat, one order of the rolls was slightly uncooked, salad was as if they rinsed the iceberg lettuce and placed it on the plate (excessive amount of water on plate.) Soup had no flavor and slightly warm, the appetizer- calamari was tough, and mushrooms were overly fried, cheese sticks were decent. Noodles for spaghetti were gooey and the sauce was tasteless, eggplant parmigiana was mush. Chicken parm- chicken dry. The older gentleman kept mumbling something every time he came from the kitchen. As he was walking back to the kitchen, he dropped a bowl of marinara sauce right next to our table and it splattered landing some on the back of my son's jeans and shirt. He did not apologize or even check if any damage was done. The ceiling tile above our table looked like it was ready to fall in due to an old leak. Our waiter was very quick to greet us and take our drink orders. The important part of the meal-the garlic bread-came quickly and was as delicious as promised. After orders were taken, the dishes arrived in a timely manner. Everyone in our group was satisfied with the presentation and taste of their selected meals. I love Little Italy - most of the time but we went this week. I had the spinach lasagna with alfredo (my favorite). It was so salty, the noodles were hard, it was almost inedible. My husband had the chicken fettucine, and it was okay but very watery. The rolls, I love the rolls, cold and hard. The table next to me left with an almost untouched bowl of pasta too. I wound up in Tyler for the night for work. Unfortunately, a lot of things are closed on Sundays in Tyler, but luckily this place was open. It's Mom and Pop no-frills American Italian food. Your food will be good and you will leave satisfied. I am a lover of chicken piccata and try it anywhere I go that has it on the menu. Personally, I feel like mine is the best at home. However, this one was a good restaurant chicken piccata. The chicken was a little bit overcooked however, at least they got a good browning on it. The bread they served was very soft and pillowy. The salad was basically just iceberg and a few tomato slices with some bottled dressing. But hey, you don't come to a Mom and Pop Italian place for a stellar salad. Truly one of the most authentic Italian restaurants I have been to. Everything we ordered was absolutely amazing. To start, I have to rave about the garlic rolls that come to your table upon arrival. I am a bread snob and it takes a lot to impress me, so I wasn't prepared to not only be impressed, but completely wowed by them. They were not your typical flavorless filler bread - they were yeasty, garlicky, buttery soft, lightly crusty and just about perfect. I could've just eaten the rolls and gone home happy. The salad was cold and crisp and had outstanding dressing on the side, the cannelloni was a bubbling hot trifecta, filled with spinach, ricotta and meat, topped with Alfredo sauce and cheese and baked to perfection. The veal Parmesan was about as good as I have ever had. Overall, everything we ate was just plain deliciousness. The portions were more than enough and worth every penny. Our service was top notch - I believe our servers name was Sophia - and we were so grateful to have such an attentive server. The place could use some deep cleaning and updates. A little paint and cleaning out would do wonders for this place. A petition to hide the rest rooms is needful to block when they go in and out. This is a late review when I moved here last year I wanted Italian food which I don't often buy; as I cook very good Italian so I am picky. I went in late afternoon on a weekday only two people in the restaurant so I was a bit hesitant. I grabbed a seat it was a bit hot (June 2023) and the waitress stated the A/C wasn't working well but being looked at. I ordered spaghetti and it came with a fabulous roll soft and a hint of garlic; the noodles cooked to perfection, the meat sauce tasted fresh and flavorful. I was so impressed I ordered a large salad to go (for lunch the next day). The salad was very good. So since then I go and get salad and pizza as we think the pizza is one of the best weve had. Not to mention the prices are very fair. We really want to try Caesar salad and chicken parmesan. Just realized I need to get back over there SOON. Staff have always been attentive not sure what the negative reviews all about. read more

A true locals restaurant with a steady stream of customers. We were looking for a good pizza and salad dinner but didn't get either. First off we asked to have our salads served before the pizza. You guessed it, got both at the same time. Salads came with Pepperonis that we both specifically asked to not serve. The meat lovers pizza had plenty of toppings though was served barely over room temp. Maybe we visited on a bad night as the tables stayed pretty full. Clientele was diverse so their food has wide appeal. We'll give it another try as several dishes served around us smelled delicious. read more

Little Italy is a small family owned restaurant, located at 3320 S Broadway Avenue, with a staff that is friendly, courteous, and very attentive. After eating at so many restaurants where the family should not have started a cooking business, this is very refreshing. when asked if we wanted bread, my husband said no, and I said only a small piece. The waiter set four rolls on the table, and I swear, I ate four. The only thing missing from the bread were the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon rolled into the dough. They were absolutely delicious and reminded me of the dinner rolls my mother use to make. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi that he said was good. I ordered the Red Fish with squash and zucchini in a marinara sauce blend. This dish was very good as prepared but even better when I took the remainder home and added rice to it. Don't be discouraged if their are only a couple people in the place when you arrive; there were only four when we arrived. But the place was packed before we could finish our meal. No mask on the hostess, and only one waitress wore one. Diners are told to sit wherever they want at closely spaced tables. Most diners arrived without masks, including one who had a prolonged coughing fit. On a positive side, condiments were provided in individual serving containers. I don't live in Tyler, so I very much look forward to eating here when I can get to town. The food was as wonderful as always. Unfortunately, if the concern regarding a deadly virus is this lax, how much concern for cleanliness is being practiced in the kitchen? We used to love Little Italy but it has drastically gone downhill. About 6 months ago we visited and there was a piece of plastic in my ravioli sauce--like someone cut the edge of a bag open and just let it fall in. My husband has always LOVED Little Italy so we went back recently. We sat down and as we waited for drinks I looked behind my husband and the biggest roach I've ever seen was crawling down the wall behind him. Friends took us here Sunday for brunch. Wife had baked Zita I had linguine with clams. Started with a great soup and freshly baked bread and butter - yum! The baked Zita was covered with mozzarella cheese and was very hot - she loved it! My linguine probably had 1/4 pound of clams on it. The white sauce was spectacular and adding Parmesan cheese enhanced the whole experience. Get here early, because it's a very popular spot. Small little place with delicious food! I was a little skeptical about this place judging from the parking lot. My family had been here before and was raving about the food so I decided to give it a try. Food was soooo good and the portions are HUGE!!! Server was nice and suggested a plate on the menu which I'm always up for rehung suggestions. Only negative thing I'd have to say is that with COVID going on the tables were a little too close for my liking. Definitely not 6 ft apart and no hand sanitizer up front.
