We recently stayed at the resort and thought we'd try out Carson's. Both breakfast and dinner were beautifully plated and tasty. Service was prompt, friendly and professional - we especially liked Lauren! The only thing we were both disappointed with was the Caesar salad. Though it looked like a yummy Caesar salad, it completely lacked the zing of lemon and anchovy in the dressing. I was really craving a good Caesar and left disappointed. Other than that, the food was excellent - we can totally recommend the flat iron steak, the fish and chips and charcuterie cheese platter! Enjoy and bring plenty of $$! What a great find!!!! Just for some help, it's located at the end of the street, inside (what looks like a hotel) the resort!!! I had the ribs which did fall off the bone and the view was spectacular!!!! We will definitely be back there!!! The waitress was lots of fun and had a great personality!!!! The procedure for on line ordering is not very clear. There is no explanation of how to pick your order up. I was glad they called to tell me it was ready when I drove up, to be able to ask. It is NOT curbside pick up, as advertised. When I put the order on the table, we realized that half of the sides were missing. We had lunch at Carsons, it was not very busy but we were seated promptly. Service was good as was the food. My wife and I shared their Ceasar salad and flatbread with fried apples, garlic and other goodies. My parents each had soup, a beef barley and a 5 onion soup. The negative reviews I read I disagree with them. Perhaps it was busier or the reviewers are more picky than me. Give Carsons a try, our server was Kelsey. read more

What used to be The Meadows restaurant is now Carsons. Really love the decor. We just had breakfast there, and it was amazing. We've been coming to Sunriver for more than twenty years, and this new design and menu is a welcomed, refreshing change. We enjoyed the lobster eggs Benedict and loved it. The little donut holes were a tasty precursor. We're coming back for dinner! Thank you, Sunriver, for embracing a new look for the lodge while still keeping the lodgey feel we've come to know and love. Oh, and the Owl's Nest is now the Twisted River Tavern. I'm a longtime Sunriver resident so I've seen the 'Lodge Kitchen" change its name and menu many times, most recently from 'Carson's American Kitchen' to the 'Lodge Kitchen'. If only it were that simple. The Lodge is a stunning building but the restaurant has always had difficulty deciding what it wants to be. Breakfast is the most reliable meal and the smaller crowd allows the staff a fighting chance. Dinner can be loud, confused and a crap shoot with overworked staff who can struggle to keep orders straight. Recently, the excellent elk meatloaf came off the menu and a $70 Waygu steak added. Really? At that price, I couldn't trust the kitchen to get that right. There are better and more reliable fine dining options in SR. I want the Lodge Kitchen to be a great place to take friends. It needs a consistent identify and a menu it can serve despite staffing issues and casting such a wide and potentially leaky net. read more

I'm torn about this review. We had a wonderful experience here on Saturday morning (Sept 16) with Sandy as our server. She was super sweet and made us all feel right at home. Food was excellent and beautifully plated! So good in fact that we returned for dinner the same night. Unfortunately, dinner was a very different experience. Our dinner server (didn't get her name) was inattentive and the food was extremely bland. We waited 20 min after finishing our meal and finally had to track down another employee just to pay our bill. Had dinner been our first experience, we would definitely not have returned. Overpriced mediocre food. The salmon sandwich had really burned bacon and several dry pieces of overcooked salmon. The fish and chips were two pieces of overcooked halibut. For the same price we could have had a really good lunch at Anthony's. But the view really is spectacular. read more

This place is great. Only if you love peas. We came on a Thursday night and were told they were out of a lot of things. My friend had the special, of which they only had 4, and it came out totally cold. It was gross. My daughter ordered the chicken, and she loves to eat, and texted me "this chicken is so gross!" While we were eating. And my nephew ordered the chicken which came with one piece of chicken and a farm's worth of peas. I have honestly never seen so many peas on a plate anywhere. I will say, my fish tacos were very good. And our waitress was great. Maybe we just go a bad night but it was not a good dinner. read more

My wife and I were here for the osteopathic conference and wanted to have a steak for dinner after the conference. We decided to eat here instead of driving into Bend. We both ordered the flat iron steak, medium and medium well and it was cooked to perfection. The appetizer (Hummus plate) was very satisfactory, strawberry lemonade was very fresh and tasty. After dinner we ordered the Marionberry dessert, with hot chocolate to go, which was also amazing. The waitress was very attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. We live locally and decided to give this place a try last night. There was only one other couple in the restaurant so we received excellent service from a very pleasant lady. The food, however, was disappointing. I ordered the fish and chips and received two pieces of fish that would fit together in the palm of my hand for $27. My wife ordered the $18 hamburger, cooked medium. When it arrived it had a sauce on it that was so hot that my wife couldn't eat it. The waitress graciously offered to replace it and assured her that the CHEF would be cooking the replacement. It came out well done to the point of shoe leather and he had substituted tartar sauce for the hot sauce - a strange choice she thought. She could only manage to choke down about half of it. There I was, having my first dinner here last month. We shared a Cesar salad, I had the beef stroganoff, he had the rib eye. Fantastic meal. Great service. There I was last week. A bit late to join my group- which- seemed to make me something akin to a leper. The waiter would not approach me, addressed me while moving, took my order from the other side of the table, in a huff, over the heads of other guests rather than standing beside me at the end of the table AND to top it off.. I was given the wine menu by rapping me on the shoulder with it. A perplexing experience. I again had the beef stroganoff, this time it missed the mark with overcooked pasta. I was not offered another drink- remember folks, this is where they make big buck, alcohol mark up. Always offer your guest another drink, especially when its clear the wine has become my meal and I'm filling my mouth with it rather than pulling you aside to discuss your poor skills. So, these damned stars. Do I give them a Ya! I'm a fan for my first visit or a Meh!? Fall somewhere in between with an A-ok? Damn these stars making choices so difficult. p.s. rapping me on the shoulder with a menu would normally garner the manager requested to the table post haste. But as I said above, we were a chillaxed group and it needed to stay that way. read more

WAY overpriced and VERY underwhelming resort food. To put it in perspective, our meal (prices aside) at the Deschuttes Brewery in Bend was far, far better. Deschuttes actually has surprisingly good food. Back to Carsons... - beef stroganoff - offensively priced for almost no beef and way too much sauce - fish and chips - WAY over battered and overcooked to the point I almost sent it back (and should have). The fish was greasy and hard. Fries were greasy and soft. Clearly oil wasn't hot enough. - chicken - could have been ok if they hadn't used a whole salt shaker. Overall just terrible. Even if the prices were 50% less. I hope they read this and fix the problems. Sunriver should be able to do better. read more

My family and I have been coming to Carson's for breakfast since they took over the restaurant and it's always been a pleasurable experience. The service is excellent, regardless of the server you get, whether you are a local or visiting the resort. I'm a big fan of their blueberry pancakes with lemon curd and their lavender cream earl grey is to die for! If you're in Sunriver, definitely consider Carson's for a breakfast on the fancier side with a panoramic view of the golf course and Mount Bachelor. read more

So bummed based on the reviews. We were very hopeful and it was not up to par at all. (No pun intended). The service was awful. It took her 5 minutes to just deliver water. Then another 15 minutes to order drinks. The food was overly priced for the portions and was not that great. The halibut and chips were greasy and the Caesar salad was dry. The best part was the view. The food below at the bar was better than this. (Fake cheese nachos). I'd go to the Sun River brewery every day over this restaurant. read more

I didn't have a good experience at this place. I went for the first time on 9/1/18 and got there at 7:50pm or so. They had a lot of reservations but said my husband and i could wait outside on the lounge chairs and as soon as a table opened up we could sit there. I asked "how would we know if a table opens up if we're outside where we cant see whats on the inside?" And the hostess just stared at me in confusion and said "well... um.. i can go get you". So we waited ouside on the lounge area and a waitress came by 20 min later with water saying "im so sorry we didnt know you were outside!" By that time i had seen a table where no one was sitting so i asked if we could move there to sit and the waitress said "sure!". Two minutes after we sat down the waitress said "im so sorry but can you guys get up? This table was actually reserved for someone else and i handt noticed, im so sorry". I got so upset! It completly ruined our night knowing the waitress did that in front of everyone. That is something very disrespectful and embarrasing that should NEVER be done or said to a customer in public. I think this place needs to be more organized and aware of all customers at the restaurant. The food was good but my experience was ruined due to the service at this place. read more

This restaurant is located inside the SunRiver Lodge. We went here for breakfast and the food was greasy and overall not that good. I do not think would try the food here again. I just had breakfast here. All I ordered was the fruit cup and the seasoned potatoes. Pretty simple order, right? The fruit was poor quality, under ripe and poorly prepared. The melon was cut too close to the rind, the strawberries were under ripe and the one that was ripe, had bruises. The potatoes were soggy and were also poorly cleaned as I bit into pieces of sand! . To add to this, I had to ask a different waiter to please find my waitress, in order to get my check. It is a beautiful place but the quality is just not good enough to make me return. read more

We took a group of 7 for a special dinner last weekend and had a TERRIBLE experience, probably the worst I have ever had in a restaurant. We were seated outside right around sunset which was a lovely view. It took us nearly 45 minutes to order. Our waitress was an absolute space cadet. She came out to tell us that the steamers one of our friends had ordered were out and asked what she would like instead, my friend ordered fish tacos. The fish tacos came out about 15 minutes later. The rest of our food NEVER CAME. The fish tacos were ridiculous too, tiny fish stick looking thing amidst tons of coleslaw. Our friend was nearly finished with her meal when our server came to see "how we were doing" and was shocked to see we hadn't received our food yet. She completely forgot about us. Several parties came, ordered, ate and left before we ever got our food. We finally got our food and it was extremely dark, we could not see our food at all. The food was cold and we didn't get it for nearly 2 hours after we arrived. We were fairly pleasant this whole time. They also turned off the music outside around 9:15 and I asked if they were closing and our waitress said they didn't close until 10pm. When it came time for checks they comped our friend the fish tacos but the rest of our bills were full price which I found ridiculous for the experience we had. We asked to speak with a manager who took another 10 minutes to get to us. She said they had been slammed and said sorry and that they were giving us half off our food. When we were leaving the restaurant I overheard the manager gossiping with the server about how rude we had been. I will never be back to this restaurant and will warn everyone I know that frequents Sunriver about this experience. read more

Had the New Years Eve 5 course dinner for a large price tag...it was probably one of the worst dinners we have ever had. We have eaten there several times, and it definitely is not worth going back to. The steak was so tough, it was hard to cut with a steak knife. 4 of us had the steadk and it was all the same. Even the tuna in the tartar was a bit tough. Very disappointing. On a positive note, the service was very positive and prompt, expecially for that many people. If you are a foodie or really know good food forgetabout Carson's. I am a retired Chef and restauranteur so I am jaded. But this place should have been created for families not for nice dinners. The menu is a mix of stuff for families and wanna bee creative selection. They should just stick with the fried chicken, meatloaf , steak selections and not try to do the creative stuff. ** I had the worst BBQ sauce and the worst food pairing I have ever had in my life of eating. A CHOCOLATE BBQ SAUCE WITH SHRIMP IN IT PAIRED WITH SALMON. OMG it was like hot fudge and smelled like it and pairing that with Salmon soooooo wrong. Also came with lobster mashed potatoes. Did not taste of lobster and whatever was in the potatoes was not lobster. This was uneducated creativity on the cooks part. Also the delicate piccata sauce that was on the trout was over cooked and became a brown butter sauce. So what I'm saying ...stay plain if you go here to eat . Order something safe. Stay away from the creativity at this restaurant. The cook or Chef isn't culinarily talented enough. read more

My family and I were staying in Sunriver and decided to stop in here. If I could I would give no stars. This place is way over priced and there are not many options on the menu. The waitress did not offer to refill drinks and wasn't very nice. I highly recommend going into Bend for a nice meal rather then coming to this place and being disappointed. I'm not impressed at all with this restaurant and will not be returning. The price for a burger and a tiny basket of fries is 16$ and for beef stroganoff is 24$. How ridiculous and the service was just as bad. This place is not up to my Sunriver expectation. Don't come here!! read more

This place is a little pricey (not unexpectedly so for a resort) but the food is really good. We went here twice for breakfast and had great meals each day.
