Our food was delivered promptly after we sat and the staff was very friendly. As for the food, I thought my migas were "okay" but not the best I have had. My mom ordered the "overachiever," (located under the favorites option), which came with two eggs any style, breakfast potatoes, tomatoes, chives and sour cream. I think if you are to order anything here it should definitely be one of their signature/favorite items. Did you know this place has a secret menu?? Vegans and celiacs rejoice... eat here without fear. As far as vegan options go, the vegan tacos here are legit. Refried black beans, bell pepper, avocado and onion will start your day off right. Be sure to ask for salsa if you're getting it to go. Loco Cafe is a delightful neo-contemporary cafe with a twist in Southwestern foods. They have definitely focused on Coffee and Flavor. They serve coffee in Medium, Dark and Double Dark for those like me that love full coffee flavor as well as espresso's and latte's. I just feel healthier eating here. It's obvious the food is not purchased from some mass producer of "Products". The hash browns are skin on red potatoes. I love the Breakfast Tacos with Chorizo and the Migas is a plate full of flavor. High quality, fresh food, attentive staff. Loco Cafe is an excellent experience. I have had a dream for quite some time. This dream was about a certain type of breakfast food. I have spent some time thinking about breakfast tacos and breakfast burritos (both of which show that there is still good in this world). However, there was something missing from the TexMex breakfast: NACHOS! I have spent months and months talking about breakfast nachos. Should it include queso? Would it include scrambled or fried eggs? I had not figured out how I wanted to execute this myself. Months passed and the dream continued I stopped talking about it because I had annoyed all my friends with this obsession. One cold Saturday morning, my fiancé and I were looking for a breakfast place in Denton. I had been to Loco Cafe a couple of times right when they first opened and had given up on them after I had poorly cooked eggs both times. However, I still wanted to go back there. My fiancé had never been, and I love to show him all of Denton's great spots. Plus, I knew in my heart I hadn't given Loco Cafe a fair chance. As we walk in and start looking at the menu, my fiancé gets excited. He shows me the breakfast nachos on the menu. It's a done deal for me. My dream has been a reality. The breakfast nachos were just as delicious as I imagine. The taste of onions, avocado, and salsa lingered in my mouth for a few hours after. Loco Cafe decided on scrambled eggs and melted cheese (not queso). I loved my breakfast nachos. I will be coming back for more. However, I do still wonder if they could be enhanced. I am still thinking about that fried egg, with a running yolk. This way the yolk would become part of the sauce. So, the dream of breakfast nachos continues, but now just how to bring something so delicious to the next level: a level that no one could resist. Ate here on a Sunday morning around 9:30, was able to order within 5 minutes and find a booth seat immediately. Food was delivered a couple of minutes later. Service was pleasant and seating was not an issue...more details on the facility later in the review. I had pancakes and scrambled eggs (Johnnycakes I believe is what it is listed as on the menu). Added a biscuit with sausage, which apparently is not a standard option and had to be ordered separately...? Wife had a ham omelete with potatoes. Son had kids breakfast with scrambled eggs and potatoes. The potatoes are finely diced so they are very small. All food items were good and were large portions...not huge, but plenty to fill you up. As for the facility itself, it had the feel of a old diner. Amenities are dated but clean, seating is tight but not distracting, and the cleaning crew swoops in when patrons leave. My only minor gripes include the menu setup and the drink station. The menu is expansive with several options and since you order at the register you better know what you want PRIOR to getting to the front of the line. I would recommend making the descriptions a little more clear too... For example, I ordered a sausage biscuit and the girl at the register stopped and had to figure out how to input it. When I checked my receipt later, that sausage biscuit was $5...holy cow! It was good, but not THAT good. As for the drink station, I was not provided cups for the drinks I ordered and when I asked where to get them I was told to get them by the coffee bar. All I could find were plastic takeout cups, which worked fine, but everyone else had larger plastic cups for their drinks. All in all, a good place for breakfast and I will come back again. There was a long line when we left, so might be best to get there early. Breakfast cost the 3 of us $40, so its not the cheapest option either...but that $5 biscuit padded the bill too. read more

Paid a visit to Loco cafe this week with my bff. The staff were very friendly. I ordered the lunatic eggs. My bff ordered an omelet. We also ordered a cinnamon roll to share. The cinnamon roll was a big roll of deliciousness. At first look, it looked like it was going to be dry. It wasn't. It was fluffy and had a perfect combo of cinnamon and sugar swirl. Then topped off with buttercream icing. It was heaven. My lunatic eggs were so good. Wonderful.flavors put together. My critique would be that the poached eggs were over cooked. The diced potatoes were in desperate need of salt or seasoning. The dish was worth the drive from Plano to Denton, though. read more

Breakfast done different is how I would describe Loco. Or just super contemporary. My boyfriend and I are ADDICTED. Highlights to include would probably be the cool coffee bar menu and breakfast sandwich. The coffee bar menu includes things like stacked cup coffee, chai tea lattes, assorted teas, shaken chocolate milk, and just good ole classic smooth cup of joe.. Lots of wonderful things and I have yet to be disappointed on that! The breakfast sandwich is by FAR my favorite. Their honey butter biscuits they make here will blow your brains out with the delicious carby butter goodness. It already comes with egg and cheese but I add avocado and bacon. We've been here a few times, typically to take something to go since it can get so crowded. This was our second time dining in as we got a really good parking spot. You usually have to park across Locust and walk here since their small parking lot fills up so fast. Most of the reviews rave about the Loco Moco and breakfast sandwiches so I want to make it clear that we have never had any of their egg dishes that seem to be so popular. I am unable to eat eggs and my husband rarely craves breakfast food. Luckily their menu is split up into With Eggs and Without Eggs. Today my husband was pretty hungry so he got a Ham and Cheese Sandwich and a Grilled Cheese with a soda. I got the Steak Tacos, a Honey Butter Biscuit and a Chocolate Milk. Total was $30 so be warned it is pretty pricey, especially for the portion size. The chocolate milk and biscuits never disappoint. Their biscuits are large and in perfectly flaky layers. $2 for a biscuit is maybe the only thing I am satisfied with on their price to portion scale and it's yummy every time. The serving of a large chocolate milk seems to vary based on the person making it but is always extra delicious for chocolate milk. I have had the steak tacos on several occasions and they have been delicious, if not a little on the small side. Today they were pooled with grease and about a third of the pieces were very chewy. It comes with a side salad and I received the wrong dressing but this worked out as I used the side salad on my tacos instead. My husband's sandwiches were both served on the biscuits which is exactly why these don't seem to be worth $6 and $7, they are fairly small for a sandwich. However, both tasted extremely good. The carrot slaw is typically very good. In regards to food, it's always tasty, it's normally well executed but it is expensive for the portion size. More often than not the ingredients are of good quality. Please note again this is in regards to the Without Eggs menu and the With Eggs menu may be more in line for price to portion value. In regards to service, that can be confusing for a first timer. You order and pay at the counter, you get a number and maybe a cup, depending on your type of drink. Choose a spot (there's a room in the back that is quieter) and the food will come out to you, as well as specialty drinks. They should consider switching to entirely self service where you get your food at the counter and can enjoy your company and food uninterrupted as well, because the service is their biggest inconsistency. The service really depends on the day but you should be prepared to be rushed through your order at the counter. Your drinks and food will come in split up sections where a hurried server will walk up to you mumbling something indistinguishable and really fast. Sometimes they say the wrong thing and when you tell them that you didn't order a BLT they will roll their eyes and point to the food and say 'well, that's what I meant.' Did I mention you get to see your servers running their hands through their hair and flirting before they bring you the food? They are young, I get it, but the model only works when you have your A team working. I only come on the weekends so service may be a lot better in the week. This won't keep me from returning but I am more likely to get a yummy biscuit and chocolate milk to go than I am to dine in. Also, I should note that if you have a small appetite then one sandwich will probably work for you. This place also has a high unique factor. The biscuits come in three flavors, including a jalapeno one that I have not tried because the honey butter is too good and I'm not always good with spicy. They have healthier options on the menu such as granola and yogurt, veggie sides and several vegetarian entrees. They have a bakery case at the front and I think they have a gluten free cookie but I'm not sure of the flavors. They also seem to have a decent size specialty drink menu. This place is pretty good if you accept that it's not full service, many employees are young which sometimes means inexperienced, parking is spotty and the prices on some items are high. It's still an enjoyable meal with some interesting décor to look at and a very Denton vibe. read more

Ordered eggs over medium, and nothing came out warm. Worse than that though was a sour taste of the bacon and almost inedible french toast (stale bread is fine if you soak it in egg properly). My plate was not made to order - that's impossible based on the temp and texture that came out. Like I said service was good, as was the coffee (self serve). I'm excited that this place is open. Denton has needed a decent breakfast place, because Old West is mediocre and over-rated. I was floored when I saw migas on the menu, one of my favorite meals. So I ordered migas and a coffee which was about $12. I got my coffee from the coffee bar and had a seat. When my food came out I was shocked that it didn't include any tortillas. How can you serve migas without tortillas?!!! I asked for some and they said it would be an extra $1. I went ahead and got them and the food was pretty good, just way too expensive. $13 for migas and a coffee won't do. I'll go back and try something else. This is one of those places where i feel like it could be four stars, but it's just missing it by a hair. The place is super clean and has a great atmosphere for breakfast/brunch. The menu is simple and easy to read as well. There hasn't been a single time i've come here that i didn't get excellent service. The food here is why i'm sticking with three stars. After coming twice i haven't been knocked out by how amazing the food is. Don't get me wrong, i think its really good and it will keep me coming back, but it doesn't have that crave to it that i think a place like this should have. I keep being told to get the biscuits, but keep opting to get something a little different. Maybe the biscuits are the ticket to four out of five stars. I don't think anyone should ever turn this place down when given the option. It's solid all around more importantly it's fast on those days where you're busy.
