    Sourdough bread with mushroom butter
    Nnenna I.

Grrrrrr so I wanted to treat my fiancé to a nice lunch in Locks. I emailed to make a reservation, got a response with available times and I responded with the day and time that suited. When we went to Locks, the table wasn't booked - we got a table in the end though. We were pretty much ignored, we had to ask for a menu with an over enthusiastic waitress. We ordered the sourdough bread with the butter was delicious! We shared the lunch special; steak, beef, spuds with snails and it was delicious but the portions were small :( Ahhhh I dunno, but I couldn't wait to leave, it was really busy and I get it, I really do but seriously I was ready to pay good money for good food and service and got substandard service. Great ambiance, good food albeit small portions but customer service wasn't great.

Great, except for burnt broccoli that tasted like lighter fluid. What happened?! Everything else was lovely. Weird decision, or accident?

Everything we had was so good and made for a really memorable meal. The service was exceptional as well. Our server was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and really made the experience even better. If you're visiting Dublin and looking for delicious, traditional Irish food in a fun and welcoming atmosphere, I definitely recommend Boxty House!

It was not too loud in our seats by the window where we could watch the action in Temple Bar. Boxty - think of a potato version of a crepe (a little thicker) - Gaelic boxty - 4/5 solid offering with a generous portion of steak on top of the boxty and with mushrooms and mushroom sauce - Chicken boxty - 4/5 chicken breast wrapped in boxty with a roasted red pepper on top and slice of chorizo (I didn't care much for the chorizo but my partner happily ate it) with tasty sauce with cooked chopped onions - concannon - 4/5 basically mashed potatoes on top of a little bit of cooked kale (said cabbage too but I didn't see it) - green beans with lemon and goat cheese - 4/5, tangy lemon forward I know people say this is touristy and that is likely since it is in Temple Bar and I don't see why that's a problem! Definitely worth trying when you're in the area.

The recipes are so creative and full of flavor, and I got their cookbook too. I would love to eat like this every day if I could cook such delicious vegetarian food! Highly recommended, there are a lot of good restaurants in Dublin City, but this casual atmosphere and fantastic food is the perfect mix, and you feel that you're doing something healthy!!

And in US, I have never been really let down in terms of food quality. Most of the times they don't even taste vegan. But the green curry from Cornucopia was pretty bland....definitely the worst curry I have ever eaten in my life. And coconut curry is really hard to mess up, vegetarian or not. The brown rice came with some crunchy (from sitting too long). The salad bar was just okay as well. I am not sure how vegetarian/vegan meals are in Dublin, but this place is definitely not up to par in the states. That being said, I did like they had multi-level dining area and it was very comfortable being solo.

Our first meal in Dublin was at The Old Mill Restaurant, right in the heart of Temple Bar. It's been serving traditional Irish fare since the 1980s and has become a favorite stop for both locals and visitors looking for classic comfort food. After about a 20-minute wait, we were seated in the warm, inviting dining room. Susan ordered the mussels, one of her favorites, while I went with the Traditional Irish Stew and my daughter chose the Braised Beef & Guinness Stew. Both were exactly what we hoped for: hearty, flavorful, and perfect after a day of sightseeing. I finally understood why the Guinness stew had such a rich, dark color, and I have to admit, I came home a big fan of Irish stew. We finished with the Homemade Bread & Butter Pudding topped with fresh cream and custard, a comforting dessert that was the perfect ending to the meal. Service, atmosphere, value, and food were all five out of five. We also enjoyed chatting with the floor manager, whose pride in the restaurant and his team was obvious. That kind of hospitality made a great meal even more memorable.

Or maybe I just missed Asian food since we had been away from home for almost a week. Anyways, we decided to walk into Ramen Bar and have lunch. We were seated right away, but in this weird alcove with a broken light hanging down, so it was kinda awkward to find a comfy spot. We all ended up getting a set menu plus an app and some drinks. The gyoza was tasty. Satisfied the dumpling craving. I didn't care for the tostadas since they were kinda sweet. I did enjoy the ramen tho. Broth had good flavor. Tho I wanted more heat in my red one. The chilli beef one was savory and meaty. I really enjoy that one. Good food, Not the best seating comfort wise. Plus the place is very dark. Still glad I got to try some noodle soup in Dublin. REVIEW #4113
