Okay I have to be honest....I was pretty disappointed in this place in terms of the food. I am not a vegeterian or vegan at all, but I sometimes try these places if they have great reviews. And in US, I have never been really let down in terms of food quality. Most of the times they don't even taste vegan. But the green curry from Cornucopia was pretty bland....definitely the worst curry I have ever eaten in my life. And coconut curry is really hard to mess up, vegetarian or not. The brown rice came with some crunchy (from sitting too long). The salad bar was just okay as well. I am not sure how vegetarian/vegan meals are in Dublin, but this place is definitely not up to par in the states. It was so generously portioned I couldn't even finish it. As someone who usually eats meat, I was surprised by how satisfying it was. Every bite was bright and flavorful. The baby potato salad with walnuts and garlic mayo was luxuriously creamy; you'd never guess it was vegan. The bulgur tabbouleh was fresh and zesty, with just the right balance of herbs. Now this place was a dream come true!! Just when I was desperately in need of some vegetables, I stumbled upon this vegetarian meal-ready place where you could pick your hearty servings of freshly cooked farm fresh meals. It really is like a Whole Foods on steroids, and they had so many options to choose from from soups to stews to multiple variations of salads. Irish portions are quite big, so definitely come here when you are hungry and it is so much healthier than other places. You can choose your combination of how much food you want, and get a complete meal for well under 20 euros. The seating inside is absolutely beautiful too, three levels, each so homey (like a repurposed home) with fireplaces, places for reading, outlets, plants, it was really nice. My friend and I had a lovely experience at Cornucopia in Dublin. After having a plethora of meat pies and ales all throughout our trip we decided to veg it out. The location was great for where we were going so we popped in for lunch. The only trouble was deciding what to get! I settled on a vegetable enchilada, the potato salad with hazelnuts and the sprouts salad. After ordering at the counter we went upstairs to find a table. Although it was busy we were able to find a spot. The upstairs was like being in someone's living room. It was very cozy yet very beautiful. We both really enjoyed the food. The potato salad was so unique--I would have never thought that hazelnuts would go in potato salad but I absolutely loved it. The enchilada was also very good but I could have done without the sprouts salad, it was forgettable. Overall, the flavors were all interesting and made eating vegetarian a joy. My friend bought their cookbook and after I got back home stateside I ordered the cookbook too so I didn't have to lug it on my suitcase! Since then I have made multiple recipes but one of my favorites continues to be the spinach and potato soup--yum! My sister and her boyfriend went to Dublin and I excitedly told them to eat here as well. They thanked me for the recommendation since they really enjoyed it too. This is probably my favorite vegan restaurant in Ireland. One of my friends that accompanied me on my trip was a vegan and thoroughly researched all the vegan spots. This place was highly recommend, so we had to check it out. The restaurant is located inside of what looks like it used to be an old house. Each room is unique and has cool furniture to add to the cool vibes of this place. There is also an upstairs that one can sit if the bottom is full, which it often is. The best part is definitely the food. I was amazed at how many options were offered and how creative the food they made was. Everything was delicious and prepared with care. I'm a vegetarian and was really excited to find this place. I came in about 15 mins till closing (didn't realize when they closed) and they were pretty much out of most everything except a soup. This was honestly perfect for me as I was jet lagged and wasn't wanting anything heavy so I was thrilled with just ordering soup. I can't remember the type of soup but I want to say it was a potato and leek soup? It was a brown mush and had strings of likely leek or another stringy vegetable (e.g. - celery), which I just couldn't tolerate. It was bland as well and though they gave a chunk of brown bread, it just didn't do it for me. I really wanted to like this place given the reviews but their soup was a no go. But, when I arrived I was told that nothing was safe for me to eat because of cross contamination. Decided to come back here during my 2nd trip to Dublin, just to see what their other non-dessert offerings were like. Since I didn't have much time before I had to start heading out to the airport, I decided to get their 5 item breakfast to go. I chose their vegan sausages, oven roasted tomato, tofu blocks, homemade baked beans, and samphire. I also got one of their savory scones to go, though the meal also came with toast and either tea or coffee, but I opted out of those. Service was pleasant and prompt, and once I was able to sit down and eat my meal, I was pleased with the flavors of everything, especially the samphire. I've never had that before, but it was pretty good, and the saltiness of it paired well with all of the other things I had gotten. If I ever find myself in Dublin again, I'd gladly come back here a third time to see what their other mealtime offerings are like. We entered "salad" in the search field here on our first visit to Dublin (and 10 years of coming to other parts of Ireland) and found most delicious and healthy vegetarian food in this casual and easygoing cafe. We ordered two main dishes each accompanied by two side salads of our choosing, and feel like we've gotten a weekly dose of all things good, healthy, and scrumptious all in an hour. After days of pant-stretching Irish stew and mash, I felt a need to offset my guilt with a visit to this popular vegetarian haunt of Dubliners. I had just come back to the city center from a lengthy road trip to Northern Ireland, sitting on my derriere for hours at a time, so I thought I should lay off a lot of carbs and protein since I was destined for my hotel room in short order. Cornucopia is aptly named because as you saunter toward their counter, that's what you see - a genuine cornucopia of really appetizing-looking food that wouldn't look out of place at a cafe in Dean & Deluca. The only challenge is making a decision quickly as obvious regulars wait impatiently behind you. Everything is served cafeteria-style and then you park yourself in an available space in one of the two adjoining rooms. For € 12.50, I ordered the Mushroom and Puy Lentil Moussaka, which was a nice piece of hearty comfort food with portobello mushrooms interspersed with eggplant slices and baked to a nice finish. With it, I was able to get two side salads. First, I went with the Bulgar Wheat Salad with Roasted Squash, Baby Spinach sprinkled in Cinnamon, Lemon and Mint. The other was the Sprouted Beans, Lentils and Leafy Greens Salad dressed with Coriander, Ginger and Lemon (see photo). Both were quite flavorful and just what I needed to offset some mutton in my system. The homey-feeling place is packed to its seams, so I guess I should have considered myself lucky to score a seat at the skinny counter facing Wicklow Street. The irony is that I had a clear view of Murphy's ice cream right across the way and like the Sirens to Ulysses, the lure of Dingle Sea Salt ice cream just proved too intoxicating for me to refuse. Damn...and I was doing so well up to that point. Been wanting to visit for ages as Cornucopian appears frequently in newspaper/ online lists of top vegetarian restaurants worldwide, plus I have the brilliant Cornucopia Cookbook. Got the chance on Monday morning, 26 February 2018. It's a casual restaurant where you queue up, order, pay for your food, then find a table with tray in hand. Canteen style, no table service here. It was quiet with just a couple of people already queueing up for breakfast when we arrived. Despite this, the lady behind the counter was slow at serving and our party of four had quite a wait. We ordered two cooked breakfasts (sausage, scrambled tofu etc), one porridge and one pancake. The food was delicious, but staff and the horrendous service they offered really let Cornucopia down. Blonde Lady who plated our food took forever to do so, then passed said plates to a Brunette Lady at a till. So, we had to queue to order, then queue again at a till to pay whilst our food sat on plates going cold. When we did eventually get to the till, Brunette took forever to provide us with coffee and toast. We had to stand waiting for ages as she toasted bread and got coffees/teas. It was ridiculous. I was so fed up waiting I told her I didn't want any toast but she didn't seem to understand this and kept asking which type of bread I wanted toasted, as apparently it was part of the cooked breakfast deal. She also didn't get the concept that we were all paying individually for our meals. Eventually and thankfully, we escaped her and got a table easily. There weren't many people there - we had probably missed the breakfast rush. Our two cooked breakfasts and porridge had been obtained already, but the pancakes had yet to be made and we were told they would be left to our table. Fifteen minutes passed and three of us had very nearly finished our food - still no pancakes. We stopped a guy who was clearing tables to ask about the pancakes, he went to enquire and told they would be left down ASAP. A further 10 minutes passed, then Brunette shuffled out with pancakes in hand and gave them to another table! We heard the other customer state pancakes were not what she ordered, but she'd take them anyway as she'd been waiting so long! We were speechless! Brunette wandered off and we optimistically thought maybe our pancakes would be with us soon and had not just been given to another person - after all, we were provided with a numbered sign when we ordered the pancakes to identify our table, surely Brunette hadn't just completely missed/ ignored this?! But ten minutes later, still no pancakes. I went to the counter to complain - Blonde was there and apologised saying she was sorry there had indeed been a mix up and our pancakes were currently being made! Another 10 minute wait and they did eventually arrive. The wait had been appalling. Probably among the worst service I've ever experienced. It was as if the staff had been beamed down to earth that morning from another planet and didn't have a clue what was going on. We really should just have asked for our money back and left, but of course our dining companion was hungry and he wanted food, thus we waited on those pancakes - for a long, long time. Five star food and one star service equals a three star rating overall - and I'm probably being extremely generous here. While in Ireland we went here twice. Therefore, I'd say it was a big hit. So many vegan options and SOOOOO tasty. I had seen reviews of this being a top vegan stop in Dublin so I insisted we go. There were so many vegan options that we had to come back the next day. The food is all prepared so you can see what it looks like before you order. The price is just right and is not over priced. There are lots of delicious dessert options for those of you that have a sweet tooth. If you look below you will see the pictures of the vegan food we had, however, I am writing this review long after I was in Ireland, so unfortunately I don't remember the names of any of the dishes. The restaurant itself has cool decorations and has more seating than their previous location so I've been told. However, at busy times, you may be unable to find a place to sit.
