I went with the chicken mansef for my main course and it was seriously good. The chicken was tender, and the rice was perfect, but the best part was definitely the texture and flavor burst from the pomegranate seeds scattered on top. Absolutely deliciously authentic! As someone who's extremely particular about traditional Easter dishes and Mediterranean flavors, I was genuinely impressed. Every bite tasted like it came straight from a cherished family recipe. This cozy, family-run restaurant radiates warmth and hospitality from the moment you walk in -- you instantly feel like part of the family. The hummus and baba ghanoush are out of this world: creamy, fresh, and full of flavor. I ate lunch here with two other people in Sep 2025, and it was a fantastic experience! To start with, the two young ladies (who were the only ones working the front of the restaurant) were extremely attentive, very friendly, and super helpful with the menu. For a cocktail, I ordered the Orange Blossom Mojito, which is something I'd never heard of before. In talking with one of the two ladies, I learned it's because it's her creation. It was very enjoyable and refreshing with the right combination of sweetness and citrus and mint without any single flavor being too overpowering. We also tried a glass of their Lebanese rosé wine, which I'd never had before, and it was also pretty enjoyable. For food we ordered their house-made vine leaves, fattoush, chicken shawarma, and kafta b'ilrozz, Everything was delicious, perfectly seasoned, not over- or under-salted, and made with a lot of attention to the balance of flavors. I thought their take on chicken shawarma was very unique, although I would've liked the pita bread it was served on to have been a little softer. We also ordered their Lebanese coffee, which our server said was "better than Turkish coffee" when I asked her how it compares. It was a pretty bold statement, but I gotta say, it actually was better than the Turkish coffee I've had in a few different places for two reasons. First was that for the two of us who ordered it, they brought it out in a small handled pot so we got quite a lot of coffee from just two orders. Second, and more importantly, is that it had a gentle essence of cardamom in it. That's what put it over the top. Their baklava was a perfect accompaniment to their coffee! Not too sweet, not soggy. Just right. And the last thing that made The Cedar Tree memorable was the beautiful selection of what I'm assuming was Lebanese music. I Shazam'ed one of the songs and it was Oasis حتة خضرا by Tamer Nafar & Alex Mandi. Since I can't read half that title, I'll assume it was pretty authentic. Wow! What a find. I had a Lebanese friend who used to cook for me and this place reminded me of those amazing meals he would prepare. To start the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They welcomed us in and explained the meal options and their recommendations were perfect. We settled on the Lebanese Mezze which was a little overwhelmed because there were so many dishes but they were all small plates and it needed up being the perfect amount for two men who had been walking all over Dublin for the day. We loved everything, the food was well balanced, fresh, and even the meat and fried dishes were not heavy or greasy. We were very impressed with the baba ghanoush as it was very smooth and lemony. But our favorites for the night were the Lebanese sausage, the chicken sfeeha, and the Lebanese potatoes. They were full of flavors that were presented in a unique way. After dinner we enjoyed the mint tea as a digestif which was poured from high into the small glass Lebanese tea cups. After eating lots of traditional food around the area, I was craving a different flavor profile. This place had really good reviews and being only a five minute walk from my hotel it was a no-brainer to stop in for dinner. I love Mediterranean food, and the flavors here were, for the most part, intense and delicious. However, they made far too many mistakes to get a high rating. We started with the halloumi. Its served with onions and tomatoes, which I liked, but the menu doesn't specify that. In fact most of the menu fails to mention what comes with your dish. It was a generous portion but could have used some more flavor. All I tasted was the grill, not the cheese. For my main course I ordered the beef shawarma. This is a must avoid. Seriously, DO NOT order this! I'll start by saying that the seasoning on this was fantastic. I was, at first, blown away by the flavor. Exactly what I was craving, until I realized that at least 75 percent of it was was inedible. Some of it was pure fat, meaning translucent and gelatinous. The rest was so chewy and tough that my teeth still hurt. No exaggeration, I might have a loose tooth now. Its served with a small side salad that I did enjoy, but that doesn't save the dish. Also the menu didn't mention the salad at all, tricking me into ordering more food than I needed. My friend ordered the meatballs. Wow how I wish I had ordered this! Tender and served in a complex and delicious sauce, with a side of rice, this was the best thing on the table. I'm glad she shared. The menu doesn't say what kind of meat it's made from, but if you end up eating here this is a safe dish. For some acid and vegetables (not knowing my shawarma already came with some) I ordered a side of pickles. I really enjoyed these, it was a nice contrast to the strong seasoning on the meats. Inconsistent heat on them caught me off guard, but I like a little burn, so no harm done. If you have a low tolerance for heat, be wary. Some of the staff had a friendly demeanor, but some clearly didn't want to be there. The service was attentive enough, but I did have to ask for more water, at which point the server left some water at the table so we could refill the glass ourselves. At this point, this establishment would get 3 stars. Then I decided to use the bathroom. A decision I quickly altered. I'll be blunt, the toilet seat was smeared with excrement. It was not recent, it was stained on there as if it had been there for days. Losing your appetite yet? To sum up, this place has great flavors with terrible execution and toilets that remind me of a public stadium or a port-a-potty. I'd venture a bit farther from the area if you want Lebanese, it'll be worth the taxi fare to not eat here. read more

Wow - this place blew my partner and I away one of our last nights in Dublin. We were looking a new vegan spot to try out, but we had sort of exhausted all the exclusively vegetarian/vegan joints. However, Cedar Tree came up as an option with some dedicated vegan portions of their menu, so we gave it a go. So glad we did! When we opened up the menu, we took a quick look, but quickly decided on the vegan mezze. Not really having anything like this before, we weren't exactly sure what to expect. However, the premise was sort of a Lebanese tapas, with a small entree at the end. The thing is, the 'tapas' dishes fill the ENTIRE table. When the server came by, little dish after little dish was added to our table. Different hummus', tahini, baba ghanoush, tabouli, etc. I've had versions of all these things in the past, of course, but the seasoning and trimmings added to each one really made for an amazing feast. To be honest, we were quite full after getting through all these small dishes, so it was with some relief that our entree was very reasonably-sized. I want to say it was more of a chickpea-based curry-esque plate, with rice on the side. Very good, but almost unnecessary after everything we just ate (and I say that with the best possible meaning). I must also say this is a great place for a date, or more romantic setting. The server and hostess were both incredibly friendly, and the setting itself was right for that kind of mood. I went all the way to Dublin and had Lebanese food. I know it sounds strange, but work with me here. We were traveling around the UK and wanted to have something a little different than the usual pub fare. A tour guide recommended this place. Although it is in the middle of the hustle and bustle touristy area of the city, I think that since it is not an Irish pub, the tourists stay away. It was full of locals and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The staff is very friendly. We didn't have a reservation and they get very busy, but they sat us anyway. Whenever my team gets a visitor from other offices, we bring them here. If you want authentic Lebanese food in Dublin, this is where you will find it. I can't stress that enough. I've tried all of the Lebanese restaurants here, and they're all pretty good, but this one is the best. My favorite plates would be the hummus (clearly), the cheese rolls. For a salad, get a tabbouleh or fattoush. The arayiss are also delicious. For mains, my go to would be the chicken mahshi. It is half a chicken with rice, with some cashew nuts and delicious sauce. They have an early bird that's great value, but they also have nice meal deals for two people, which have some mezze and main course. They also have a lunch deal that is very cheap for all the food you get. TL;DR: The staff are friendly, the owners are lovely, the food is delicious. read more

Dublin isn't renowned for its middle eastern cuisine, think abracababra or Iskanders and you'll know what I'm talking about, so its nice to come across somewhere like The Ceder Tree, which serves tasty Lebanese food in a laid back and comfortable surrounding. They pretty much had me at the hommous in here, which was served in a huge portion with hot pitta bread. It was delicious and would have done for a meal in itself. I had a fantastic dinner at The Cedar Tree one weekday evening for dinner with my colleagues. Just getting a whiff of their food when you enter is a sign that you will have a good meal! I like that you can either choose a larger main course, or get several small (mezze) plates. I chose two smaller plates of their prawns and hommos. Both were decently sized portions. The prawns were similar to large shrimp in the U.S., and had an amazing flavor, sitting on a sauce of tomatoes, lemon, white wine, and garlic. I scooped up every bit of the sauce! The hommos was less garlicky than I'm used to, and that's a good thing! It was served in a cereal-sized bowl and topped with olive oil and, I believe, a bit of lemon juice. Their pita tasted homemade - it was warm, with a soft, somewhat chewy center. I scooped up every bite of the hommos with my pita! My colleagues had the prawns, chicken wings, lamb pastry, and rice. The chicken wings were served with a dry Lebanese rub, and smelled amazing. My colleague attested to their deliciousness. The lamb pastry looked not as appetizing, but my boss said it was good. The rice was your typical basmati rice, served in a large bowl. We got our food in just minutes after ordering, but service was a bit leisurely afterwards. (For example, we had to request a refill on our beverages, and ask for our check.) Regardless, I'd definitely return if visiting Dublin again! read more

I hadn't been here for over seven years so when friends suggested to go here for dinner I was very happy - and anxious if it was still as good as it used to be. - I didn't get disappointed. I like to research dining options before I go on a trip and I bookmarked this spot. We were able to make it in our last night in Dublin. We were ready for a change of pace after 10 delicious days of Irish fare and the Cedar Tree delivered. We ordered one of their Mezze platters for 2 even though there were 4 of us. We had been sharing plates the whole trip so I knew it would be fine for three of us. My dad loves lamb so he was all in on the lamb shank, which he loved. We did share a bottle of red wine as we were celebrating my birthday and it was a delicious Lebanese red. I was right and the mezze platter served us well. It also came with a chicken dish over rice that we had trouble finishing. Halfway through our meal a huge group came and though the place looked small they fit them all in. The flavors were spot on. We lived in Africa for a few years, where there is a lot of authentic Lebanese/ Mediterranean options and these flavors took us back to those days. I haven't had the same flavor in the hummus and other dishes in the US for some reason. We had reservations for Saturday night and were lucky we did, because it was packed. Everyone at the table went for the platter, which included a massive amount of food for about €30 each. You get a lot of dishes to share, which is my favourite way to eat. It's fun and social and alleviates any tension derived from food envy! We were going to get a bottle of Rioja, but on the recommendation of the server, we opted for a bottle of Lebanese red wine instead. It was a great blend and quite reasonable at €30. Then the appies were served and the selection all laid out filled our entire table. All the dips were delicious (mixed opinions about the smoked aubergine dip, but I personally liked it) but the hummous shawarma on Lebanese bread was a unanimous favourite. By the time the mixed grill plate was served, we were all pretty full and packed most of it to take-away. We finished off our meal with Lebanese coffees all around. It was my first time trying Lebanese coffee, which is coffee ground with cardamom and served in a boiling pot. It was dark, aromatic and delicious. Every time I come here I leave happy. The staff are friendly, the food is great (especially the kibbeh saynieh - it's a bit different than I expected but very tasty!) and obviously made to order, and the house wine (red) is genuinely one of my favorite wines in the city, very drinkable! And, although it always seems to be busy in the evenings, we never wait long for a table and afternoons are the nice kind of companionable quiet that most restaurants strive for but can't quite achieve. As far as I'm concerned food is made to be shared, which is probably why I like Mediterranean and Middle Eastern places so much. Anyway, this has a point - the mixed meshwe is a fave, especially if your company is woefully indecisive about which scrumptious morsels to order (like I often am)! I've never actually gotten the mezze but judging by what I have sampled, I'm looking forward to trying it. If that was all I had this would be a five star review but I also had desert that was a sort of biscuit and cream combo. I had the best meal here I've had in a while. My boyfriend and I were visiting Dublin and saw this recommended in the guidebook so we decided to pay a visit. We were not disappointed! We got the vegetarian meze for two. When the waiter brought our drinks he was oddly insistent about placing our glasses and the water jug right up against the edge of our table, and fiddling about with our plates until they were placed to his satisfaction. I thought this was a little strange, until the food started arriving... and continued to arrive... and kept coming until we basically had a sea of small dishes in front of us. Seeing the impressive jugsaw work involved in getting it all on, the positioning pedantry suddenly made sense! So the food was plentiful, but was it good? Yes, yes it was. It was DELICIOUS. I love Lebanese food for its use of simple flavoursome ingredients, and this place was the epitome of that. There wasn't a single dish we didn't enjoy out of the meze, and the baclava we had for dessert was divine. The service was good and thewaiters were friendly too, smiley and happy to make suggestions about orders but not over-solicitious while we were eating which is the perfect way really. I was lucky enough to attend a family party in The Cedar Tree recently, the family in question are half Lebanese so knew their way around the menu. What a treat. for starters it was a selection of Mezzes, so fresh zingy and exciting. The Baba was fantastic, wonderfully smoky, lovely falafel, and the tabouleh was a masterpiece. The fried Kibbeh were delicious, as were the Makanek Mixed Kafta and Lebanese rice were really tasty, such interesting fresh use of spices and herbs, fantastic. It seems based on other reviews and lack of restaurants that Middle Eastern cuisine is not big in Dublin. So it's nice to find a place that serves decent food. I say decent because it wasn't necessarily bad but I've had a lot better. They do however, need to work on their service. We waited almost 20 min. for a waiter and it seemed that everything took awhile to get after that, even a glass of water. If you're new to Middle Eastern dishes here are a few essentials to start out on. Falafel -Fried balls of (minced chicken peas and broad beans) topped with tahini sauce. Hummus -Puree of chick peas, tahinin, garlic and olive oil served with lebanese bread. Fatoush -Crispy pitta bread salad with pommegranete dressing Tabouleh -Parsley, tomatoes and onion salad with Burgul and olive oil dressing The Main is up to your likes and dislikes we went with the Shish Taouk -Brochettes of chicken marinated in Garlic Lemon juice then charcoaled. This place is a complete rip off. My wife and I went there for dinner a few days ago. After we were coldly led to a table, we looked over the menu, which looked pretty normal, like any regular menu you find in restaurants, but little did we know that it was a trap (you will find out why later on, keep reading). We ordered one of their Mezzes, which consists of a selection of small plates of Middle Eastern food. The price as shown on the menu next to that selection is about 25 Euros as I remember. The food, in fact, was pretty ordinary, and some of the food in the small plates had clearly been reheated and not freshly cooked, we thought the amount and quality were too bad for 25 Euros. However, after we finished eating, I went to the cashier to pay the bill, which turned out to be more than 50 Euros! Two of the restaurants staff cynically explained to me that the price 25 Euros was actually for one person, and since my wife and I were two, we have to pay 25 Euros each! What I found most shocking is that he went on to tell me that a lot of people fell prey to their menu, thinking it is 25 but not knowing that the price is actually per person! Even when I ordered that meal, the waiter who served my table did not let me know that this price is for each person and not for two, as if they were doing this as a trap to get more money from their customers.
