I stumbled upon this restaurant during lunch time and walked in to check it out. I immediately was greeted by super friendly wait staff who gave me a seat at the front window and explained the menu and lunch offerings. For 17€, I was able to get their lunch time special of one ramen and an appetizer. I got the kimchi arancini and it was absolutely delicious and something unique that I had never had before. The ramen was also very good and extremely filling. I couldn't finish both so I had a good amount of leftovers to take home for dinner making it an even better deal. Highly highly recommend. We were visiting Dublin just for 1 day. We had a fantastic day. Everywhere we went people were so kind. We had planned to have dinner at a pub but this restaurant caught our eye. We walked in asked if we had reservations. We did not but our party or 4 was seated right away. We were looking over the menu when the same host came back to our table and told us he made a mistake that they he wanted to seat another party there and we could move to the top floor instead. I was so excited to have ramen as it is my favourite cuisine however this place really disappointed me. The restaurant was absolutely freezing. We even asked multiple times to be seated somewhere where it wasn't freezing and asked for the door to be closed and they refused. they moved us once, however it was still absolutely freezing. We kept our gloves, coat scarf and hats on. The starters were really good. I will say the gear and the chicken kaarage. However, the Ramen was really disappointing. The meat which was the pork was good but the broth itself was tasteless and not even warm and the noodles were so so starchy they were unbearable to eat. The dipping sauce did help a bit but would've liked a little more flavor. For our mains we got a seafood ramen, a black garlic pork ramen and the vegan devil's ramen. The seafood ramen was tasty, but we were hoping for mixed seafood like the menu says but it was really just fish. Some shrimp, squid, mussels or other seafoods would've been nice. The black garlic pork ramen was absolutely delicious. The pork was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The noodles were very fresh and light and the spicy sauce it was served with was flavorful. It was a kind of sweet chili sauce without much of a kick. The star was the vegan devils ramen. The spicy sauce was served on the side and was incredibly tasty. I would eat this sauce with anything. It does have quite the kick, but taste before you add it. We ended up adding this sauce to the other ramens as well. Pro tip: lightly dipping the pork chashu in this sauce was a game changer. The grilled tofu in this dish was also delicious. Overall, a great meal for all 3 of us. We were too full for dessert, but did see some on the surrounding tables that looked pretty good. Stopped into the Ramen Shop for a warm bowl of comforting Ramen. We decided to sit downstairs, however We were lead upstairs because they apparently hold the downstairs for overflow (per the waiter). The upstairs seating situation was one that I despise the most. One long bench and multiple tables aligned in a row. This setup is used to fit as many couples into a space. The seating is way to close for comfort for my taste but we dealt with it. Hubby and I both chose the Tonkotsu Ramen and Gyoza. The Gyoza was delicious and stuffed full of meat. Went here after a mate got a tattoo nearby, and this place blew our minds. The food here was incredible, delicious ramen and sides. The bowls were massive and if you bought the €20 dinner special you got ramen AND an appetizer, which was large and very good. The ramen itself was very good and super large, had to get some to go as I couldn't finish it all. The service was alright, a little slow and at times short but it didn't impact the dining experience for me or my mates. Were able to get our food in a timely manner and we enjoyed the hospitality. I must say before I begin, this is by far the best ramen and chicken katsu I've ever had. The food was all so fabulous. The flavors were there. The food was cooked right. The portions were perfect. I left their with a full stomach and a happy pallet. Their menu has a good variety to satisfy many tastes. The location is beautifully decorated and perfectly clean. The lighting is perfect for a casual meal or something more intimate. The one thing that ruined it for me was the service. By far the worse service I received here in Dublin during my seven days. We walked in and no one bothered to greet or seat us until we flagged someone down after 5 minutes. Then we sat right next to the staff's stations and not a single person took care of us for 20 minutes until we had to flag someone down. Then they got into a discussion of who should tend to us. Eventually they took our order and our door was delivered promptly. However, the I Ku time they came back at all was to remove empty plates. AGAIN, we had to flag someone else new to give us our bill so we could pay it. Again, we were seated next to all the staffs stations. Would I go there again? Maybe. You have to wait to be seated, and you'll have to wait for a bit for your server to come to you and take your order but it's good. The tonkotsu original ramen was good and full of yummy pork flavor. The pork itself had a nice crust on the outside and sliced thinly for easier eating. I liked my curry karrage which is chicken based broth served with crispy fried chicken both white and dark meat. The curry flavor wasn't strong at all, but the fried chicken and the softened boiled egg was the best part. If you're in the shopping area here in Dublin, you should give this place a try especially on these cold and rainy days. read more

I'm Asian so I've had my fair share of ramen and I really wanted to love this place but it was very mediocre. I ordered the Spicy Pork Tonkatsu Ramen-the chiarsu pork was perfectly cooked and flavorful but the broth was seriously lacking that deep flavor you get in traditional Tonkatsu broth-it had a sweet flavor to it that was very off. The noodles were all wrong-they were egg noodles that were Al dente and hard to eat. The broth-noodle harmony wasn't there. I asked for a side extra hot sauce on the side but it was just sweet chili sauce and it made sense now why the broth was sweet-they probably added sweet chili sauce to the broth to make it "spicy" sweet chili sauce is of Thai origin and doesn't belong in a Japanese restaurant. Go to Ireland to have an amazing bowl of ramen? I would have called you crazy. Yet, there hubs and I were, twice during our vacation, noshing ramen in Dublin. When I'm on vacation abroad, I want to try a new restaurant (or five) every day. But Ramen Bar was calling us back. The first time, we sat downstairs and had the whole thing to ourselves before the dinner rush. Our waiter was super accommodating and friendly and made our time there really enjoyable. The second time, we sat upstairs and received less than attentive service. I believe they only open the downstairs dining area for dinner, so go then if you can. They offer a complimentary one-bite appetizer while you're perusing the menu or just after you order. I thought this was a nice touch. The nikuman are seriously good. Perfectly soft on the outside with a luscious spiral of pork on the inside. I could eat twenty. The star of the show is really the Kokoro Tonkotsu Black. This bowl brought me back to when I lived in Japan. It's rich and perfect on so many levels. I should have ordered it again the second time we went, but I tried the salmon ramen instead. It wasn't as flavorful, of course. It's really all about the tonkotsu. My husband nearly died over his bowl of spicy chicken ramen, he loved it so much. I tried a bite, and the chicken was beautifully tender. He's practically begging me to go back to Dublin just to visit Ramen Bar. What a weird concept! Egg noodles are used versus the traditional rice noodles. My ramen came out cold, the meat was still very cold in some areas, I had to resent it. Found this place on Yelp while visiting Dublin, Ireland recently. I was craving ramen so this place was perfect. I ordered the kokoro tonkotsu black ramen and chicken karage. Initially, I was told that their fryer was not working so they weren't sure if I would get the karage. The ramen and broth were very flavorful along with a generous amount of sliced pork and noodles. I did not realize that this particular ramen did not include a soft boiled egg. Looking back at the menu, only about half their ramens come with the egg. You can always add one for 2 Euros. The fryer was fixed when I was almost done with my food and told them to bring on the karage anyways. It was delicious with a light ginger flavor. When we heard that the Ramen Bar was the only place in Ireland with a legit Japanese noodle machine, we had to come and see for ourselves how well this place compared to our favorites back home. The back ramen bar was full when we arrived around 8 on a Sunday night, but they immediately stated that we could dine up front and order off of the ramen menu. I got the Tonkatsu Red (spicy) to compare it to my favorite spicy ramen at Daikaya in DC. The ramen came with a complimentary appetizer (fried dumpling). They were pretty good! Onto the ramen. The Charsui pork was delicious and a generous portion of 4 or 5 slices. The broth was very flavorful and just the right level of spice. The infamous noodles from the only Japanese noodle machine in Ireland were good, but I've yet to find a ramen noodle better than Daikaya's. Overall, the meal and service were great! I lost my Ramen virginity here. Do I regret choosing this particular noodle bar? Nope, not at all. The decor of the bar resembles one of those interiors you get to see in Japanese movies. Spicy Torishio Ramen for me and Spinach Yasai Ramen for the lady. We received complimentary starters which was a cucumber with salmon on it. Not a fan of raw fish so I didn't particularly enjoy it, but my partner did so yay! The main dish arrived shortly in about 10 minutes. Quick service, I'll give them that. The portion size was large and the chunks of chicken in my Ramen dish made me smile as I'm a chicken lover and seeing the cooks not skimp on it made me happy. I've never had ramen before and trying it for the first time here, I loved it. It was filling and satisfying. The noodles were well cooked, the meat was well seared and spicy as the menu said it was. The flavours were popping as I tasted each of the different additions of ingredients in the ramen soup. I'll say this and close of that subject, I loved it and I would definitely come back and have it again. Price: expensive enough as far as ramens go. Haven't been to much but 30 quid for two people? The server then came up to me and said, "are you ready to order?" - I said, "you already took my order", and I must've said this too loud because the couple behind me said "Ooopss!", and laughed. After reading the many review, I had to try this for myself during my visit to Ireland. I was greeted immediately when I entered, which is always nice. The back dining room was full, so I had to sit at the high top bar tables against the wall. It was fine for just myself, but if you want to chat with friends your better off waiting for a table in the back dining area. Gyoza - €7.50 (3.5 Stars) Traditional pork gyoza with dipping sauce. I really wanted to like these more, since they are made in-house, but it lack seasoning and flavor. The filling texture was also a bit mushy. May be a better bet to try a different appetizer. Tonkotsu Original Ramen - €16 - (5 Stars) I have eaten a lot of Ramen in Japan and this was just as good, if not better! Portion size was generous. The broth was perfection and the ramen texture was also cooked to perfect al dente. The egg was cooked perfectly where the yolk was not cooked all the way. It came with 4 thick pieces of pork chashu that were so flavorful and tender! Overall I enjoyed my dinner, however I do think it was on the more expensive side. It was okay ramen. Word of advice is to not get the spicy ramen. You might ask why and I'm here to tell you from one fire breather to another that their "spicy sauce" is literally sweet and sour chili sauce. Like the sauce you dip my Lola's lumpia (egg rolls) in. No thanks. I know this because I was stuck between getting the original tonkotsu vs the tonkotsu red. I would've gotten the tonkotsu red in a heartbeat but my dilemma was that the original tonkotsu came with an egg but the tonkotsu red did not. And they were both 16 euro and adding an egg to the tonkotsu red would cost an additional 2 euros. (Expensive!) Thankfully, I asked if I could get the original tonkotsu and just make it spicy and the waiter said that I could add a side of their spicy sauce for an additional 1 euro. So duh I went with that option. And thank God I did because I only moderately ruined my ramen by adding the spicy sauce to my bowl. Anyway, pluses are that we came after 9pm so they give you an appetizer for free PER EACH ramen you order (and the appetizers were the best part of the meal). So we got two appetizers since my boyfriend sadly made the mistake of ordering the tonkotsu red. His was definitely ruined by that gross spicy sauce. I tasted his broth. It was no bueno. Another plus is the egg is a whole egg. I was almost very upset that I only received half an egg after this whole dilemma of egg vs no egg/ spicy vs no spicy, but my other half an egg was actually hiding underneath some seaweed. Haha. Geez I'm a drama queen. Okay so that's about it regarding the food. But I have a really hilarious story regarding our experience if you guys have this much time to read a review -- So I don't know why the UK uses the word "take away" for "take out," but whatever, they do. This girl that was sitting next to us asked to have her food for take away and 5 minutes later this girl waitress comes apologizing frantically about how she threw away her food that she wanted taken away. The girl was def upset but what can you do lol. And of course they didn't offer to make her another one. So as I said we came after 9pm and this place closes at 10pm and they're pretty serious about trying to get everyone out of there by 10pm - giving checks and clearing tables blah blah. So this couple in a different table also asks a waiter for their food to be for take away also, but this waiter is all busy trying to get everyone's checks paid so they can leave. The same waitress from earlier is clearing dishes and strolls to the couple's table asking if she can take away their stuff and of course this couple says yes. And so I watch this waitress take their bowls and go through the kitchen door to throw it out. I died. I wish I had stayed to see the aftermath but omgggg. I wanted to tell them "nooooooo don't let her take your food away." But then I'd just be that weird American trying to be all friendly and no good deed goes unpunished.
