I was lucky to find this hidden gem in Dublin last week while on a trip with family . The service was great and our orders came out quickly . It was not a crowded evening . This was the best meal I had in Dublin. We were recommended to check out Maneki from the bartender (Michael) at 1834 in the Shelbourne. He did not steer us wrong! The ambiance of the restaurant felt authentic. From the art to the decor to the serving trays/dishes and utensils. The restaurant has a nice intimate feel like you're having dinner with your family. We were seated quickly and our server was attentive and helpful. We all started off with the sake pornstar martini. It was really good, a bit on the sweeter side. For all appetizers we had the edamame and gyoza. The gyoza included chicken and a nice sauce. It was a nice size portion (~6-7 pieces). Both were really good. For our main dish we had the Kimchi ramen, Maneki yaki soba and the spider roll. The ramen was a nice size portion and was packed with a variety of meats. My friend said the broth was really good and spicy. The Yaki soba was a perfect portion for me. It included roasted chicken, prawns, roasted pork and veggies. It was very flavor and good. It also came with a side of miso soup which was perfect. The spider roll was massive. There were 8 giant pieces and it was tasty! I also snapped photos of our neighbors Teppan salmon teriyaki and beef teriyaki. They said both were amazing. I've seen a few reviews mention the pricing is a bit higher but it was worth it in my opinion. The portions were a bit larger than what I've experienced before, the food was tasty, the drinks were good and service was great. They also do karaoke upstairs and it was actually pretty entertaining listening to them while we ate. There is an automatic 12% gratuity/service fee included but there is a note that you are not required to pay. Definitely keeping this on my list for the next visit. read more

The atmosphere is casual and super small shop. The service is not so bad, but the manager is horrible. I used to love this place and I literally introduced it to all my family and friends, it's rare to find onigiri and they have it here. But last time I was there had a horrible experience (I saw bad food safety practices) and I'm never going back and neither are my friends and family. What happened was, the person that took my order and cash, used their bare hands AFTER handling cash to grab the ingredients and make the order. Since food safety is my job, and I know for a fact that cash is some of the dirtiest things out there, I couldn't help but discuss this issue with the manager politely. The manager got really rude and basically said that this is normal and how they practice at this shop. The lack of knowledge that the manager displayed was obvious, and I'm not here to argue. So I just left, threw my food out without them seeing cause I don't wanna be rude, and just never went back. I also informed all my loved ones. read more

The food was phenomenal. From the attention to detail in presentation to the quality, we were all saying we want to come back to try the other dishes. The server was very kind and efficient. The ambiance was. Modern with a touch of traditional Japanese decor. The layout of the established was a neat concept. As you go up the stairs, there are breakaway rooms that accommodate a small number of tables. A lively, yet intimate experience. This was so close to a 5 star rating. Unfortunately, the noise level was a bit disruptive with the karaoke on the 4th floor, and the cheesecake tasted a bit freezer burned. I am obsessed with this place, I visited from positive Yelp reviews. This is a cute boutique feeling place, entrance located from below street level. Decorated well, very "cutesy." Very attentive waitstaff. There is a high waitstaff tip fee attached to your order, which was a bit off putting, but I paid it anyway since I enjoyed my experience. Delicious ramen bowl of soup, & sushi roll. Specialty drink I wish would have had more drink, for the price. Overall positive experience, and lovely escape from a windy night. read more

Felt like the chicken got cold really fast, but I also ate the rice first exclusively so that might have played a part Chicken Katsu Curry Don : 5/5. Katsu was well-fried and the portion size was good, especially the size of the katsu itself; ended up with some curry rice leftover, but that's definitely not the worst problem to have! Inside ambiance is really calming especially in comparison with the outdoor bustle of Dublin. Calming piano music played and everything very organized. Very decent Japanese eatery. Everything was vary good. It wasn't mind blowingly stellar, but the food was fresh, and overall, we were pleased with the meal. We had the gyoza, the salmon sashimi, the tonkatsu ramen, the chicken Katsu curry, and the egg fried rice. I think the favorite part of everything for me was the pan seared chashu in the ramen. It just adds a next level of umami when that extra step is taken. The pork was tender to the point that it almost kept escaping from my chopsticks. I think we ended up sitting on the third floor up. I don't know which level the karaoke room was on, but a lot of the time, you could hear the parties belting out the songs and our room shook from them stomping their feets. I would go back. Happened upon this restaurant during my recent stay in Dublin. Had enjoyed three weeks of traditional Irish cuisine and had the taste for some Japanese food. Made a reservation on a busy Saturday night. Was seated immediately upon my arrival. The menu is pretty inclusive. I had some sushi and a noodle dish. Both were excellent. The sushi was very fresh. The noodle dish was well prepared and not overburdened with a heavy sauce. Service was also excellent. I highly recommended this restaurant. read more

Cute place right on Dawson. The salmon sashimi was so fresh and delicious we could have ordered many more! We love spice and this is a place gave a decent kick in Dublin where it can be hard to find. Unfortunately the broth did lack some flavor but was still worth a visit for sure. read more

My friends and I wandered into this restaurant by mistake while we were not hungry on our trip to Dublin and came back the next day when we were and my god are we glad we did. I worked in a classical ramen restaurant for years in New York and have tried ramen from japan to New Zealand and this is the best ramen I've had in my life! The Tonkatsu broth was creamy and rich, the pork was braised and sweet, the egg was marinated for at least 24 hours. The sushi was also amazing, and the service and drinks that accompanied the meal were to die for. If you've never had classic Japanese cuisine this is the place to experience it. read more
