This was a recommendation from a local so we had high hopes for it. It's so bad I'm writing this review as I'm sitting here waiting for the check. When we arrived, the door was locked and some employee opened it for us but then walked away. It took a few minutes for us to be acknowledged by someone else to seat us. When the server approached, we ordered water to start. When he returned with the water, we asked if they had straws and all he said was "yes" and he walked away when we said we needed a minute to order food. We ordered different things such as sushi rolls and gyoza and after an hour being there, we had received nothing. When the food finally came, my order was missing a roll and had sashimi on the plate, so he took the plate back. When he returned, he said the kitchen had made a mistake and they were out of tuna, even though the plate he took from me had tuna. The only thing that was wrong on the original plate was the sashimi. He asked if I wanted something else and I was so hungry, I asked if my other order could come out while I looked at the menu. What I did receive, did not have any tuna, even though the menu said it should, I guess that's my fault for asking for the other 2 rolls to come out, thinking all they would do is take the sashimi off the plate, but he should have told me they would not have any tuna at all to make sure I would still want it. The sushi did not have any flavor, not even the soy sauce helped. The most flavorful thing on the plate was the sesame seeds and I wasn't the only one at the table who thought that. It was so unenjoyable that I could not even finish the 2 rolls I had in front of me. The service was overall terrible, the server was not attentive or friendly. The food was severely overpriced. The only good thing about this meal was the gyoza, and that another server came to tell us the kitchen was doing a last call for food. It's definitely one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had and our group of 6 is all in agreement. Would not recommend, would absolutely not return, not even for free. read more

Service: great! Super friendly Food: saddens me to say this but not good. Very small/limited sushi options. I don't know if it's the pallete out here but people, YOU ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF. Ordered rainbow roll, most basic "fancy" roll. But instead of a rainbow of fish it was covered in avocado that they used to HIDE slivers of fish. SHADY. A bit sour at times but enjoyable :) Irish Wagyu Gyoza They weren't bad, no wow factor for us but it was a decent starter Chicken Katsu Curry The Katsu Curry was nice. Appearance-wise it looked great and personally, I think it tasted good too. Tonkotsu Ramen The ramen was okay. For me it was a bit bland, but adding salt, pepper and soy sauce definitely helped making it way more enjoyable. read more

Pretty restaurant and delicious desserts! This restaurant is beautifully decorated and very open and roomy-- a wonderful atmosphere to dine in. The menu has a huge selection of Japanese foods but I settled on the beef on brown rice in a stone pot. It was pretty good for the most part but I requested my beef medium rare and got overly well done meat that was way too tough. The rice is that reddish purplish rice that's super delicious. There was some vegetables in the rice but it didn't have much flavor and I ended up adding teriyaki sauce and a bit of gochujang. I had to eat it all really slowly as the pot was piping hot but no complaints there! The service was very good the whole way through and I had 3 scoops of ice cream for dessert: vanilla, coffee, and green tea. The ice cream was amazing and I would definitely go back just to get ice cream if I had the opportunity. I have no reservations recommending Yamamori to all! read more

Had dinner here the other night. Had the rainbow roll, tempura shrimp, tofu steak, and a strawberry roll (seemed to be a salmon roll topped with strawberry slices and cream cheese). The portions are quite large, the rice used is a healthier purple (?) rice. For dessert, we had the matcha cheesecake, banana toffee tart, and the panna cotta. The food was pretty good. read more

We were excited for Yamamori, having seen a recommendation through Rick Steve's travel Ireland guide book. Although the staff were nice, we were served the wrong ramen. When I inquired about it, the server first contradicted me and said it was the correct one. Then he took it back to the kitchen and admitted it was the wrong order. In addition, the noodles/broth were not hot but just warm. I'm ok with the fact that he was apologetic and corrected his error, what made this an uncomfortable dining experience was the swarm of flies/gnats at the empty table next to us, landing on all the condiments. They also flew over to our table and we had to keep swatting them away. That made us doubt the freshness and cleanliness of the kitchen and our food. read more

This is hands down the best place for sushi in the city. It is however a tad expensive compared to other sushi places. But they do have a great lunch bento box deal for a tenner. This bento box is very very light on sushi however. Having lived in Vancouver for a year I had become very accustomed to very cheap, very good quality and very plentiful sushi restaurants. I ate sushi every day either for lunch or dinner. So upon moving back to Dublin I realised just how sh1te our sushi can be but this place is an exception. They have a wonderful outside area which is great on a sunny day especially if you want to have a few beers and a smoke after your food. The main courses are a little on the expensive side but I usually just stick with the sushi when I am here for dinner and the portion size is quite substantial. I love the interior of this place. It has a great vibe to it. Always have a smile on my face when I'm here. Rumour has it the Japanese Embassy orders their sushi from here. That says it all really! read more

Dining at Yamamori's is hit and miss. Be skeptical of the raw fish options. First impressions. The restaurant is attractive and spacious inside. There is communal bench dining alongside regular tables. Decor is really nice, and service is pretty good. Yamamori's bento box and tempura dinners seemed pretty tasty overall. Dessert and tea were fine. !BUT! the udon noodles cannot be called udon. They're not authentic in any way. It was more like pasta, thrown into broth. Bleh. Tuna slices on nigiri were not the greatest. It had to be from a frozen fish slab, because the slice was dark and purple grey in colour, as opposed to the rich red, ruby or crimson of fresh tuna. This is my fault, though... being completely spoiled by sushi in California and expecting decent tuna all the way over here. Just was a terrible choice. And, will somebody please teach the folks here how to make a proper Bloody Mary? WAY too much bloody tabasco in the version I got. I wasn't feeling well before I ordered it, and afterward... Let's just say, between the overly spicy drink and the suspicious sushi slice, I felt unwell and ultimately did not have the satisfaction of digesting my otherwise decent dinner. So.. down to the restroom I rushed. The bathroom facilities are lovely enough, but they could be kept up a little better. Would I go back and give Yamamori another chance? Maybe, but I'd stick to the cooked items and less "exotic" drinks next time. read more

Yum. Delicous food at great prices. I really like sitting in the outside patio out the back as well. It's comfy, shielded from the wind, and they've speakers set up for some nice musical atmos. They have a cover over it as well in case the weather turns unexpectedly inclimate, which we all know isn't highly unlikely in Ireland! I got the spider roll and the prawn tempura and both were really fresh and absolutely delicous. The spider roll is massive by the way - you could nearly share it with someone else if you got another side between you. The staff are really nice as well, and the whole place just has a general good vibe. read more

I have to admit that I am a fan of this place for it's decor more than food... Not that the food is bad, it's really, really good but I'm just a design nerd and I love what they have done with the space. The interior is like being on a tamer set from Empire of the Sun. OK food wise! I got the swordfish in teriyaki with sticky rice. I wanted it medium, well... It was done well; no biggie, it still tasted great, I could taste the sea! Sake was the right side of appley crisp and the Japanese beer that I got (which is brewed in Belgium, bizarre) was yum. Very fruity and complemented the meal well. The waiter had a thing for my dinner companion, it was very entertaining to me. He was like a Turkish Del Boy (wheeler dealer) cross bred with a younger Hugh Hefner with really pointy shoes and a hairy chest. He kept saying how all his friends are women and how he knows women so well, I think they would be perfect together. She needs to be with him forever. On a more serious note he felt the need to tell us everything we should order, which started off as nice be ended up being domineering and annoying. Him aside, the rest of the staff were so friendly and wonderful. The atmosphere was lively. Oh they do have free wi-fi, I checked! Great place to come for a working lunch. read more

Let me start off by saying that I love this place. I have been going for years. The food is imaginative and delicious, it is a lovely place for all occasions, and the staff are always friendly. I have however noticed a significant price increase in the last year and I feel that the prices are no longer fair. I have also noticed portion sizes decreasing. I used to adore the Tofu Steak which was taken off the menu, and subsequently redesigned and brought back. The new Tofu Steak is much smaller and no longer comes with a selection of veg and salad. It is now served on a bed of a few pieces of pak choi, and yet the price has risen. I still think they do lovely food but I feel that they are coming across as a bit greedy of late, and nobody likes that. read more

Stopped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The prices for rolls looked high compared to other restaurants, but when the roll came to the table I could see why. Much larger serving per roll than I usually see in the States. The salmon and avocado roll was very fresh and tasty. The salad with crispy salmon was also very good. Server was friendly and food arrived quickly. Just a little slow to bring the tab after the table was cleared. Maybe she was waiting for me to give a clear indication I had finished my tea? To be fair, I was probably giving mixed signals. Also, I have to agree with Brian. It was easily 25+ degrees in the restaurant. Two plates of freshly prepared California norimaki, fresh cut ginger, wasabi and soy- large glass of Rioja- out in the beautiful garden during the day for chats or lunches with friends. Nice and cozy with very pleasant Asian decor and atmosphere. Nice green tea to sip as we looked over the menu... We chose to have Moriawase (large) at 35 euro with a request to change norimaki to a smoked salmon norimaki with cream cheese.. Was good portions ,just enough for two people to enjoy together. Great service by waitress as she was very helpful with menu and reccomendation on side order. Side order of Gyoza was a nice choice, quite tasty. Quite pricey, but the portions and taste make up for it though. Sushi was fresh, and my order, Ishi Yaki Gohan, is crave-worthy (prawns, egg, and that dark rice sound so good right now) and gave me a food coma. Our server was quick (bringing the food and speech-wise haha) and genuinely friendly. Since we were seated at a dark area, he offered to turn up the lights so we can see our food (and each other) better. Very nice guy and always made sure if we wanted anything else. Tried their Banoffee pie and it's so good! With it's digestives (cookie) crust, and right amount of caramel sauce and bananas, I'd choose this over banana cream pie anytime. We had a big group, but they were able to accommodate us right away and the place is spacious with lovely Asian decor. Definitely coming back here when I visit Dublin again! read more

Great sushi, fresh and delicious.Bento box are good with a bit of everything. I prefer the one in temple bar as it's always less crowded and you can walk in. The stir frys are delicious and very generous portions the wine is usually good. It's a little bit on the pricey side but it's totally worth it. read more

This was my first dinner ever in Dublin a couple of years ago when I visited the city. It makes a great first impression when you go in, as you are always immediately greeted by one of their staff and then to the right you have a small bar where you can wait for a table to become available. Since I moved here I've been back in a handful of occasions but, as much as the ambiance and decor make it a very cool place, the food, prices and noise level just don't make for a great restaurant experience. So lately I'm drawn more to their beer garden and cocktail bar in the back of the restaurant, where they have a good selection of cocktails and whiskeys - including Japanese whiskeys of course - and where you can have a more relaxing time. It's also a good place for groups, as the room is quite big and has some long tables. Sometimes though they try to cram too many people on the same table, so beware of that. If you're looking for the best Japanese food in Dublin, look elsewhere. The vegetarian dishes particularly are very disappointing, and are served with few sides. It doesn't justify the prices charged for food at all. But Yamamori is your place if you're looking for solid service and a hip space where you can finish your dinner with a nice drink. read more

Huge restaurant! Everything was delish but the only knock off I have was the price. Easily the most expensive sushi rolls I've ever had. Maybe it's the currency exchange along with other aspects but I was a little shocked. The place is as nice as the other one on the south side; decorum and staff are up to the norm if not above. Although its specialised in sushi, other menu options are available as well which, in my case (I'm confessing here....) was a relief, as I'm not a big fan of sushi myself. Ive been back to Yamamori a number of times. I usually get the bento box and it tends to make miso happy! When the waiter or waitress brings the majestic selection of randomness I am soy excited to delve into the culinary delights that the skilled chefs maki in the kitchen! The wine list is good but I have never had a bottle of Sake Sake (sah...key) and I can tell you now people it will set you back more than $5 dollar ;) The salmon and cream cheese norimaki is also a delight and a very safe bet for those dipping their toe in the raw waters of sushi dining. God bless the man beside us the last time we were there his chopsticks flew out of his grasp and onto the floor not once, not twice but thrice.....i tend to just a use a spronged piece of cutlery because I dont give a fork myself! If you want a light option for dessert choose the apple and rhubarb sponge it comes with a scoop of icecream and a thin crispy butter biscuit on the side. They offer some probiotic style drinks on the menu, apple or aloe vera or oranges etc etc. I asked for a mix of apple and aloe vera, the waitress looked at me like 'you trippin sunshine' :D Jesus it tasted like something they would give you to drink on the show fear factor. The Northside branch of Yamamori is by far my favorite: more space, less of a wait time, nicer surroundings and more often than not, your very own table. Myself and my partner shuffled in, very hungry, and very late last Saturday. We were quickly seated by a friendly member staff. We shared futomaki as a starter and I had tofu steak as a main, while my partner enjoyed a katsu curry accompanied by our free sake (thanks Yelp!). Finally, we finished the evening with a tasty trio of ice-cream. I really enjoyed my meal, and we couldn't have been more looked after by our waiters - but overall this place is just too expensive for what you get. read more

If you want your real Japanese, then Yamamori is not your place but for Ireland, they do good sushi with good staff. Not as good as Michie's. When Godzilla stomped his size 54 on Tokyo, he couldn't have known the wonderful culture he tread upon. Japan produces splendid art and even more splendid culinary delights! I often pass by Yamamori's, pause, and take in the décor, understated yet tasteful. The teriyaki beef, my god. My god! The taste was delivered with a touch as soft as a child's derrière. The only way it could be usurped was in the house beer. I'm more of a wine man myself, but I could only shiver with astonishment in the flavour that the beer provided. Truly a meal for the ages, and without wanting to overstate it too much, an incredible trip into Asia's most wild and wonderful country. Sayonara, but not for long my friends! xx read more

The starters are lovely and so is the sushi, but the menu is overly westernized to bits. I ordered ichi yaki gohan, it was 90% onions and rice, the sauce was bottled not fresh and the crab meat was canned. Overall I didn't enjoy my experience and spent the night rolling around my bed with cramps. It was supposed to be a birthday celebration and when I asked for a dessert menu I was left waiting 20 minutes. read more
