Musashi IFSC is my easily my favourite Japanese restaurant in Dublin - it boasts an elegant, spacious interior with really comfortable seating, excellent service, really friendly wait staff and serves incredibly fresh, beautifully presented food. In short, I am a fan in a major way! On any occasion when I have eaten here (and they have been numerous) I have been blown away by the food - their sushi, sashimi, noodle and rice dishes are superb and are great value in comparison to some of the other Japanese eateries in the city. I have to give a special shout out to their gyoza though - they are earth-shatteringly delicious and I don't think I've ever been able to bypass them on the menu when eating here. The pork and prawn varieties are especially scrumptious - that such inconspicuous, delicately dainty, beige parcels are harbingers of flavour on such an epic scale, is a culinary epiphany that I can't help repeating on a fairly regular basis (I may have a slight gyoza addiction in case you hadn't noticed haha!) Musashi, I have so much love for you!!

In Ireland by myself for a night and wanted a good restaurant close to my hotel. I saw this place on yep, and I have to say the reviews are right! I ordered a spicy Ryan roll and musashi ramen. This ramen was honestly the best I have ever had! Choked full or grilled chicken, pork, friend tofu, shrimp, and an egg amazing! Kinda want another bowl Right now.

I've been to this place easily two dozen times and have failed to give a review. That was remiss of me. I am not going to leave a big review for Musashi. I am just going to say that's it's my favorite restaurant in Dublin and if I could I'd give it more than five stars. It's cuisine matches anything in Japan (am shortly back from two weeks over there!!) Their lunch menus are amazing value, so filling and tasty. I'll be back many many more times too!!

Friday Feast! This is definitely the most food you can get for under €10 that still tastes absolutely brilliant! (Around the IFSC anyway) Vegetarian Bento Box today contains: Yasai Tempura Tofu katsu curry Chef Selection Sushi 2pcs Steamed Rice Vegetarian Miso Soup All for 9.95, I'm so glad I discovered that sushi isn't all about raw fish :)

Some months ago when I found out that Musashi was opening here on Mayor Sq. I was absolutely thrilled. I waited for weeks for the opening date and now that they're here, I couldn't be happier. While you look at the menu you'll be greeted with a complimentary cup of green tea, and I've even saw them offer it to people waiting for their take way orders, which is a lovely gesture towards their clients. The menu is extensive, with sushi, tempuras, gyosas, noodle and grill plates. I'm yet to try something I didn't like. The portions are always plentiful. Some of my favourites here are the tuna steak, the yasai tempura and the sushi selections. For dessert there are a few ice cream scoop flavours for €1 each and some cake slices; the banoffee pie is generally a good choice. And as if the quality of the food wasn't enough, it's great value for money. The drinks list was recently updated and now they have a lot of wines on offer, alongside some beers, juices and the inescapable sake. The restaurant itself is still lacking something in terms of character, with its dim lights and smooth polished surfaces. But maybe it's just a matter of time until they start adding some more decorative details, as they grow older. The background music is usually bossa nova, easy going and not too loud. They're certainly a welcome addition to the IFSC, especially because they stay open serving food until late - my problem with some of the businesses around the area is that they close too early or don't even open at all during the weekend. Musashi - and to that matter also its Italian neighbour, Il Fornaio - proves that there's people around the IFSC willing to go out in the area if only there's something offering quality there. Whenever I feel like being pampered with some nice food without breaking the bank or going too far from home, this Musashi is where I end up.

I love Musashi and Capel street and me and my friend stumbled upon this place by total accident after trying J2 sushi which was fully booked. The menu is somewhat smaller than the Capel street branch, and the main thing I liked here was the sushi despite the more limited variety. We shared Ebi gyoza, Unagi and Tamago (egg) nigiri sushi x2, salmon sashimi, Tako Sunomono salad and edamame, all of which were pretty good. I loved the salmon sashimi a lot, and the sunomono salad was better than expected. I wouldn't say this restaurant is authentic in the slightest and nor does it stand out from other Japanese restaurants, but it makes an ok attempt at trying to mimic Japanese food in that they are one of the few places serve ramen in addition to a bunch of the usual sushi. The only thing was that the selection is much less, and they only have salmon or tuna in terms of sashimi. However, the rest of the menu was just takeaway style food like yakisoba/udon, fried rice and tempura which was kind of a let down as I expected a few more healthy items on the menu besides just the sushi at a Japanese restaurant. A lot of the items were also practically the same, the only difference being whether it had meat, fish or was vegetarian. The prices are pretty high. We paid around 40 euro for the above which is expensive since we didn't order that much. The service was excellent and very efficient. Our food was quick to come and the staff were very polite, promptly clearing out each plate as soon as we finished the food on it. The atmosphere and location would probably be the main point about this restaurant. It's right near the quays and the Luas, the atmosphere was very lively on the Saturday night we came, and the decor is lovely. The place is also very spacious with two floors and plenty of seats, so usually reservations aren't that necessary. Overall: Ambience wins over the food here, but not bad in terms of quality. Food: 3/5 -doesn't stand out from the other hundred or so Japanese places in Dublin. Variety: 3/5 Price: A bit high Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5

I was simply impressed! The first time I ate at Musashi was when it opened in 2014, I had lunch there and I wasn't impressed. My friends and I decided to try it out and I enjoyed the experience. The menu is extensive, too many good options to try. I ordered dumplings for starters and it was delicious! Followed with a fried rice dish. I ordered the house red wine which was nice and affordable. The manager asked us to move to make way for a bigger group and offered us free dessert to compensate. All in all great experience, good food, friendly staff and definitely going back.

And here is another gem in Dublin! A bit away from your usual social life part of the city, at the IFSC is Musashi. I have visited a few of the sushi restaurants in Dublin, and this restaurant is in my top three. Firstly I loved the ambience: very relaxed and spacious. Secondly the service: I found it was impeccable. It was quite attentive yet not overwhelming; I found it informal enough, and pretty much what I would imagine the Japanese culture to be, very discreet and yet friendly. Last but not least, the food! I do not consider myself an expert in Japanese/oriental food by any means, but to me, the food tasted as good as it looked. It was an absolute pleasure for both the eye and the palate!

I came here again for their bento box lunch special. Again I was the only person here as I went between lunch and dinner time at 4pm. Subsequently I can't review on the atmosphere! So I'll base my new review on the food alone. I've upgraded my recommendation for this place by 1 star. My food was steaming got this time and extremely tasty. I've included a photo of my bento box

We had the California, Salmon Avocado and Eel Avocado sushis, some Ebi Gyoza, and Edamame beans: it was quite nice but nothing out if this world either. The beans were unsalted (why, I ask you, why?!), which I think is a major faux-pas, but apart from that, the rest was nice. I particularly liked the eel, and I must say that everything was very fresh and well presented. Service was a bit slow: I waited 25 minutes for my take-away, which is too long given that the place was not busy, but I did get a cup of green tea during my wait. Oh and the brilliant free Yelp miso soup;-) (I do not enjoy miso soups but hey, you don't discard a nice Yelp reward: my friend helped me with it) Overall, if you are not too much of a Japanese food snob, this is a very decent place to go to and you'll enjoy the food.

    A very plain ramen :-(

Meh, should have gone for sushi! Was so disappointed with the lunchtime special. Bowl of chicken ramen, only came with two leaves of pak choi and a few mushrooms. Nothing else. Not even a soft boiled egg. The noodles were thin and tasted plus looked like they came out of one of those packets you just add water too. The chicken was a bit dry. Okay, it only cost 8.50, but I know some amazing ramens in town that only cost a tenner. I had total food envy of the tables beside us enjoying some lovely looking maki rolls. On a positive note: the edamame beans we shared were yummie, but it's hard to get that wrong.

Upside-down view shows just how little crab is actually present in their soft-shell roll.

While this isn't the worst offender I've seen for overpriced sushi, it's pretty clear that you're paying for location and ambiance above most else. Pretty much any typical sushi item you order here will be between 3-5 euro more expensive than what you'd get at a different location, which becomes particularly rankling when you see that their portion sizes for sushi are extremely small. The first time I went there, the server pushed their soft shell crab roll- one of the three specialty rolls available (which is pretty disappointing itself- your choices in the sushi department here are pretty much confined to small basic rolls and chef selection nigiri). It is topped with masago, primarily I suspect to hide the fact that the roll is 75% rice, 20% tempura, and 5% anything that might have ever been in a crab. It is a 7.50 / 14.99 plate of rice and tempura batter. Considering this is the only specialty roll they offer outside of "vegetarian" and the wonderfully vague "seafood" rolls, not to mention how much the waiter was touting this roll is pretty shameful. The rice and fish quality is basic. Both times I've one here it's been served up with a cut of white fish that had a rank aftertaste, and the second time they served a shrimp nigiri where the single piece of shrimp meat was substituted for two of the sickliest, slimiest prawns imaginable lying limply on a bed of rice. I really should have just thrown it away because it made me feel physically nauseous for the rest of the meal. I'm really surprised that this place has gotten the reviews it has, because for what it's charging the quality here is seriously sub-par. While the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice, at the end of the day it is just a layer of masago there to keep you from realizing that there's not much quality content inside.

When we arrived, the door was locked and some employee opened it for us but then walked away. It took a few minutes for us to be acknowledged by someone else to seat us. When the server approached, we ordered water to start. When he returned with the water, we asked if they had straws and all he said was "yes" and he walked away when we said we needed a minute to order food. We ordered different things such as sushi rolls and gyoza and after an hour being there, we had received nothing. When the food finally came, my order was missing a roll and had sashimi on the plate, so he took the plate back. When he returned, he said the kitchen had made a mistake and they were out of tuna, even though the plate he took from me had tuna. The only thing that was wrong on the original plate was the sashimi. He asked if I wanted something else and I was so hungry, I asked if my other order could come out while I looked at the menu. What I did receive, did not have any tuna, even though the menu said it should, I guess that's my fault for asking for the other 2 rolls to come out, thinking all they would do is take the sashimi off the plate, but he should have told me they would not have any tuna at all to make sure I would still want it. The sushi did not have any flavor, not even the soy sauce helped. The most flavorful thing on the plate was the sesame seeds and I wasn't the only one at the table who thought that. It was so unenjoyable that I could not even finish the 2 rolls I had in front of me. The service was overall terrible, the server was not attentive or friendly. The food was severely overpriced. The only good thing about this meal was the gyoza, and that another server came to tell us the kitchen was doing a last call for food. It's definitely one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had and our group of 6 is all in agreement. Would not recommend, would absolutely not return, not even for free.
