Ambience is great. Service was excellent. Mixed Seafood Poke Bowl was busting with flavors.

Great sushi spot in the heart of Dublin. Great service, delicious food, big portions. Would definitely recommend!

Veggie ramen

Came here for the first time the first week of January, in search of some healthy comfort food. Wait, what? Only 8 euro for a veggie ramen? Bargain! My friends stir fried rice (same price) was a bit greasy though. I shall be back for dinner, won't break the bank either since it's BYOB.

A brand new Sushi restaurant in Dublin, true, we are not exactly stuck for them any more but I am firmly of the opinion that you can never really have enough sushi. This place feels new, the staff feel new and nervous and the interior is reminiscent of an ikea catalogue... one of those nicely laid out pine themed pages where everything is clean lines and minimalist. I like it. We ordered a couple of different combos, the food was very fresh and tasty (nothing stand-out, just nice), washed down not with the plum wine I was keen to try but with a half decent Chillian sav blanc purchased from Whelans off licence across the road ( 4 euro corkage)... I think they were not yet allowed to sell alcohol, you see it in new restaurants a lot. 40 euro all in which wasn't bad, we'll be back in a couple of months when the dust has settled.

Yum bento box

Really lovely spot. This is like a little Japanese oasis in the middle of that great run of eateries and drinkeries that is Georges / Angier / Camden. It's all decked out in bamboo and Japanese fabrics and dolls, and with nice soothing music in the background, and a great value and delicous menu (with BYO booze), it's no wonder it's so popular. As it was lunchtime, I went for the vegetarian bento box. For 9 eurits, it was unbelievable value. There was a mountain of fried rice, the nicest miso soup I've ever had, a stack of maple syrup-ed sweet potatoes, two pieces of avocado sushi, and some lightly stir-fried green veggies. It was so big, I actually couldn't finish it. I also tried the vege dumplings which were really spot on. As I said, lovely spot, I'll defo be back!

Veg fudomaki

I really was quite surprised by Zakura in the end. From the outside it doesn't look like it would be up to much. But it turned out to be a wonderful experience all together. I had looked online at the menu before I went. I have a problem with doing that. I knew what I wanted even before i sat down haha. The prices were significantly lower than other sushis i have been to in Dublin, so I kinda assumed that the sushi quality would be low. I was defo wrong :) I got 8 avo rolls and 4 veg fudomaki. The avocado was so fresh and ripe. Just how it should be and the vegetable fudomaki was a lovely mix of avo, asparagus, peppers, lettuce...lots of yummy goodness. My girls got a mix of ebi rolls, tofu steak, king prawn and avo, fried tofu sushi and edamame. Ther wasn't a piece left. We all loved it as much as each other. I got a diet coke also and my meal came to €13.50 an absoooo steal!!! It's not my fav sushi place around. There are defo places I'd prefer which are better quality and more upscale than Zakura. All these places are much more expensive tho. Zakura is a perfect place for a casual after work bite with friends. Cheap and cheerful with delicious food. For more special occasions I would go a bit more upscale. I'll be Back to Zakura tho for shooo :)

Why have I not reviewed this place sooner... So sorry Sakura! You are worthy of a review and a great review at that. Love this small restaurant on Wexford Street, with working nearby I love popping here for lunch from their menu to the munch bento specials, this place is great value and the food is always great; tasty and flavoursome. Staff are very quick, from seating us, taking order to the food arriving... It's also so quick and efficient, great when you're trying to eat in a restaurant within the 1 hour lunch timeframe. It doesn't exactly sing to you from the outside but fear not, pop on into this place and you'll not regret it. Selection is great and they do BYOB which is awesome especially in this area of town.

Zakura is a good little Japanese food place with authentic oriental theme. Good things: Tasty food, great portion size and not heavy on your pocket lunch deals - great value for money BYOB - always a winner Not so good thing: They don't serve lunch deal bento box on the weekends; i think they should mention it in the menu and on the website I also found it odd that the server asked if we would like to add tip (when we were paying by card). This is the first time in Dublin I have encountered the question about tip and umm... it was awkward as the service was just ok - nothing extraordinary. I do like Musashi IFSC better though.

One of the best japanese in Dublin I totally recommand you the gyoza and the ebi tempura masago sushi roll Their main are also very good (katsu chicken, yaki soba...) Definitely to try!!

Bento Box!

Sushi! I absolutely love Sushi and Sakura does not disappoint! I am a relative regular there for lunch, and I always go for the Bento Box, just because I'm a "I'll try a little bit of everything" kind of guy. But I'm also known to get a side of Sushi to go, and enjoy it during the afternoon in the office. Their fish is fresh...I mean, twice now I've seen a guy walk into the restaurant holding a fish (yes, that fresh. And I'm usually there at 12 when they open, so I guess it was a late delivery). I plan on going there for dinner and eventually trying one of their specialty dishes, but in the meantime, keep that Bento coming!

I came here twice while in Dublin so it had to be good. The interior is cozy and feels very Japanese with light wood everything. The food itself is cheap and yummy and the servers are friendly and attentive. The sushi isn't life changing - I live in SF so it's hard to compare but it's well priced and large portions. If you're not a sushi fan the other food items are just as good like the chicken katsu curry!

Love this place, so underrated. The restaurant itself is quite small, but the food and service make up for it. Always have great sushi here.

I was lucky to find this hidden gem in Dublin last week while on a trip with family . The service was great and our orders came out quickly . It was not a crowded evening . Our table had some cocktails , pornstar martini, hot herbal tea , Sweet potato tempura rolls, Dragon rolls , VegGyoza, Mapo tofu with rice on the side . Everything was delicious!! The ambiance of the restaurant felt authentic. From the art to the decor to the serving trays/dishes and utensils. The restaurant has a nice intimate feel like you're having dinner with your family. We were seated quickly and our server was attentive and helpful. We all started off with the sake pornstar martini. It was really good, a bit on the sweeter side. For all appetizers we had the edamame and gyoza. The gyoza included chicken and a nice sauce. It was a nice size portion (~6-7 pieces). Both were really good. For our main dish we had the Kimchi ramen, Maneki yaki soba and the spider roll. The ramen was a nice size portion and was packed with a variety of meats. My friend said the broth was really good and spicy. The Yaki soba was a perfect portion for me. It included roasted chicken, prawns, roasted pork and veggies. It was very flavor and good. It also came with a side of miso soup which was perfect. The spider roll was massive. There were 8 giant pieces and it was tasty! I also snapped photos of our neighbors Teppan salmon teriyaki and beef teriyaki. They said both were amazing. I've seen a few reviews mention the pricing is a bit higher but it was worth it in my opinion. The portions were a bit larger than what I've experienced before, the food was tasty, the drinks were good and service was great. They also do karaoke upstairs and it was actually pretty entertaining listening to them while we ate. There is an automatic 12% gratuity/service fee included but there is a note that you are not required to pay. Definitely keeping this on my list for the next visit.

I wouldn't recommend getting a bowl unless you have a big appetite, and you may not want to order any appetizers (it's that much food in the bowl - gotta love it). I had the tuna Ngiri and it was sooo good. Now I like to order it from my favorite sushi place back home; they left such a great impression. The atmosphere is lovely, clean, and welcoming. Ugh, they make me wish I were in Ireland right now lol. The service was excellent. Aside from making me smile with great humor and politeness, they also want to make sure you enjoy your meal. I just felt like it was all love, where they want to make sure that nothing is wrong. You don't get that everywhere. I also enjoyed the jokes and laughter, which might not be the norm (the politeness is, of course, probably the norm). I was a humorous customer who probably made them equally comfortable, which is incredible. That's why it is always important to be nice to your servers. I genuinely appreciate both my visits there (yes, I went twice; the place was that good and the vibe was that great, lol).

The Hamachi sashimi was surprisingly good for the price, thick cuts with the standard light and savory taste of hamachi, fiber felt fresh and was a bit bouncy, no foul odor or mushy mouthfeel in typical cheap Japanese eateries. KaraAge fried chicken came in small bite-size pieces, freshly fried, juicy, but a bit too bland and the pastry was a bit too thick. Also wish they had used a better sauce than simply shoyu (soy sauce). Overall the food was OK for the price, you get what you paid for.

This was a recommendation from a local so we had high hopes for it. It's so bad I'm writing this…read morereview as I'm sitting here waiting for the check. When we arrived, the door was locked and some employee opened it for us but then walked away. It took a few minutes for us to be acknowledged by someone else to seat us. When the server approached, we ordered water to start. When he returned with the water, we asked if they had straws and all he said was "yes" and he walked away when we said we needed a minute to order food. We ordered different things such as sushi rolls and gyoza and after an hour being there, we had received nothing. When the food finally came, my order was missing a roll and had sashimi on the plate, so he took the plate back. When he returned, he said the kitchen had made a mistake and they were out of tuna, even though the plate he took from me had tuna. The only thing that was wrong on the original plate was the sashimi. He asked if I wanted something else and I was so hungry, I asked if my other order could come out while I looked at the menu. What I did receive, did not have any tuna, even though the menu said it should, I guess that's my fault for asking for the other 2 rolls to come out, thinking all they would do is take the sashimi off the plate, but he should have told me they would not have any tuna at all to make sure I would still want it. The sushi did not have any flavor, not even the soy sauce helped. The most flavorful thing on the plate was the sesame seeds and I wasn't the only one at the table who thought that. It was so unenjoyable that I could not even finish the 2 rolls I had in front of me. The service was overall terrible, the server was not attentive or friendly. The food was severely overpriced. The only good thing about this meal was the gyoza, and that another server came to tell us the kitchen was doing a last call for food. It's definitely one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had and our group of 6 is all in agreement. Would not recommend, would absolutely not return, not even for free.
