So overpriced for what you get. The food lacked flavor. Service was quick and intimate nice ambiance, but the food was just so disappointing

The Lobster Pot is such an incredibly quaint, classy little place. I was a bit nervous about walking into such a fancy place by myself without reservations while travelling alone in Dublin, but I was too excited about this place to pass it up. The waiters were such gentlemen - attentive, well-dressed, and so welcoming and respectful. I was greeted with a large tray displaying all of the fresh seafood they were offering that night. I ordered the special, a dish of lobster, fish, and prawns with creamed potatoes in a cream sauce. It was sooo decadent and amazing! I had been seated next to the lavish dessert tray full of all kinds of tasty treats, so of course, I couldn't resist ordering a dessert even after the incredibly rich and filling meal I'd just had. I ordered the honeycomb cake, which was layered with delicate sponge cake, rich cream filling, and caramelized honey. So glad I didn't miss out on this lovely treat. I'm always impressed when I encounter a restaurant that masters the art of simple, satisfying, comforting food done extraordinarily well. I'll never forget this wonderful dinner!

We were there as part of a Game of Thrones Tour and were very surprised. The food was delicious, aswell as the price for those of us on the tour. The ambience is very medieval, with props of the series also, and they serve the ale on a very large wooden pint, lots of fun!

I wanted to try the Dublin shrimp but unfortunately they ran out, I was told usually ran out at lunch. So I ordered crab on toast, really big size crab meat with cucumber on a yellow crab paste. I thought the creamy oysters took the cake. Pro tip: come during Happy Hour and get a euro off each oyster!

Our first meal in Dublin was at The Old Mill Restaurant, right in the heart of Temple Bar. It's been serving traditional Irish fare since the 1980s and has become a favorite stop for both locals and visitors looking for classic comfort food. After about a 20-minute wait, we were seated in the warm, inviting dining room. Susan ordered the mussels, one of her favorites, while I went with the Traditional Irish Stew and my daughter chose the Braised Beef & Guinness Stew. Both were exactly what we hoped for: hearty, flavorful, and perfect after a day of sightseeing. I finally understood why the Guinness stew had such a rich, dark color, and I have to admit, I came home a big fan of Irish stew. We finished with the Homemade Bread & Butter Pudding topped with fresh cream and custard, a comforting dessert that was the perfect ending to the meal. Service, atmosphere, value, and food were all five out of five. We also enjoyed chatting with the floor manager, whose pride in the restaurant and his team was obvious. That kind of hospitality made a great meal even more memorable.

They told us our table was ready at the same time they were seating a walk-in. Our table was next to the window with decent space between tables, I saw the walk-in complain that where he was getting sat was in the middle of the restaurant with no space between the next table. He ended up just taking our table even with the waitress saying it wasn't his. They just shrugged and told us to sit in the middle. The mussels were good, and they had gluten free bread, but there were limited gluten free options, even the Shepards pie wasn't gluten free. I was hoping a mash potato topping would be available, but only the Irish stew. This had lamb, but also chicken, so you had to hunt down the lamb. The beef stew was good, but the overall experience and being squeezed in shoulder to shoulder made me feel like I stumbled into a tourist trap. I wouldn't recommend.

Since we were on this side of the town, we decided to make the most of it and look for a meal of seafood. I had Octopussy's Tapas bookmarked when researching for the trip, so we decided to stop in for lunch. It was a Thursday at around 1:30, and the restaurant was almost full. It's a very small restaurant and it's mostly high top tables with bar stools, so it wasn't exactly looking baby-friendly, since had our 8-month old and a stroller with us. Luckily, they have a small back room (literally a room that can probably seat 4-6 people) that was available, and they seat us back there. It was nice and cozy, and cute - decorated like you were on a ship. Here is what we ordered: -Carlingford Oysters (served in the shell with fresh lemon) - these oysters were everything! They were big, shucked properly, and tasted super fresh. It didn't need anything but the lemon but they did recommend us trying their housemade hot sauce. We did and we loved it, and ended up buying a bottle to take home. We also ended up ordering some more oysters for dessert (lol) -Seafood Chowder (squid, mussels, smoked coley, & prawns served with homemade brown bread) - this was full of seafood. It is heavy though since chowder is cream-based so I would recommend sharing this, as opposed to ordering one on your own. The brown bread was also very nice -Seafood Paella (paella rice, chorizo, mussels, gambas, squid rings, and smoked coley) - another dish filled with seafood. They don't skimp out here! I could have done without the squid rings (they tasted rubber-bandy, like they're from frozen), and the smoked coley. I'm not a huge fan of smoked foods. I didn't really taste it in the chowder - maybe the cream covered it up, but I was able to taste it more in the paella -Whiskey Scallops (cooked in whiskey butter) - very rich but the scallops were good. You definitely want to dip some of the brown bread in this sauce There were so many other dishes we wanted to try but we had to stop ourselves from ordering too much for two people. Overall, it was a great meal and at these prices for seafood?! You really can't beat it.

We were staying at the Haddington House Hotel, just an eight minute walk from the restaurant, and when we arrived, we waited at the front to be seated as a sign at the door requested. A young man indicated that he'd be back in just a moment to seat us, or so we thought. . However, when he returned he said "Oh, I'm so sorry but we're not seating anyone else for dinner, but you can take away food." Needless to say, we declined that offer. Why would we wait for them to cook food for us to take away, when we could also be seated in the restaurant and eat that same food? That made no sense. The restaurant was full but there was an empty table for two at the front, and another party was paying their bill and preparing to leave. We had seen from reviews that the place is popular and gets good reviews, but didn't expect we'd be told we couldn't be seated, . After regrouping, we decided to take our business to Bubba's Fish. Market in Dalkey,. Just three stops away on the Dart. Their Google listing indicated that their kitchen closes at 9 pm. By the time we got going, it was already a little after 8 pm, but we hopped on the train and got there by 8:25. Instead of being turned away, we were greeted at the door by the hostess and told we could sit wherever we'd like. Such a different reception, and we had a fabulous meal. Our experience at The Fish Shack was inexplicable and disappointing to say the least, but God turned it around for good because we had a wonderful experience, at a welcoming place at Bubba's! Who knows if we'll ever make it back to Ireland again, but if we do, we'll never go back to the Fish Shack again.
