    Irish dressed crab
    Emily M.

Wonderful experience for my dad's birthday. This is a fantastic restaurant in a great location on St. Stephen's Green. The room is beautiful, with Hugh ceilings, white walls, plush blue furniture and chandeliers offset with bright old movie posters. We had a raised booth so we could see the whole room but there are lots of nice tables around the room and also a bar for drinks before or after dinner. My crab starter was really fresh and delicious and I loved my monkfish too. Others had steak and lemon sole and the oysters were a hit. The chips were amazing and the duck fat roast potatoes were also delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive all evening and kept the wine topped up. Highly recommended for a special night out.

A really busy restaurant, even on a weekday. Came here without a reservation and was placed at the bar counters instead as there were no space for 3. A nice speak interior design with a pretty small bar. Started with cocktails at the bar which was pretty good. Having to see it made in front of your very eyes has that additional plus factor to it. In addition, the bar waiter was extremely friendly and chatted with us for a bit. Had their seafood platter which cost €50 however disappointing with only 6 oysters - all from the different cities of Ireland. It was fresh but wasn't of the best quality. I felt the best thing on the platter was its prawns which was really succulent and sweet. They had a fish in a little jar which was puréed. It was pretty interesting as I never had that before. All other seafood was rather a let down, in my opinion, as I've tasted better. Steak tartare was really good. Seasoned to perfection and even the portion is very hearty as an appetiser. Ordered another appetiser, the crab. It was really fresh and sweet. Just felt it needed a little bit more texture and it would have perfected the whole dish. Also had a fish and chip main which really was a big let down. The cod wasn't too bad. Was definitely fresh but the batter was really disappointing. Lacked good seasoning and did not even have the golden brown fry to it. Overall, it wasn't a bad dining. But definitely wasn't the best. There are better seafood restaurants out there for the price I have paid. I felt the menu really needed to be better as there were very little to order from the ala carte, especially for people who do not want to eat a 3 course menu.

Best food I have had in all of Ireland. The scallops were Perfection! Everything was so fresh and light -0kept me wanting more. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had a visit from the executive chef and enjoyed every moment. Will definitely make another trip back soon! Thank you for such a special experience and meal.

    Exceptional Beef Bourginon

The Early Bird in the Cliff Town House is one of the best around town for bang for your buck. You get to eat your dinner in opulent surroundings (the décor is beautiful) and the food itself is amazing - there is very, very little here not to love! The beef bourginon I had for my main was the best version of this classic that I've ever had, the beef was meltingly soft and the sauce was deeply flavoured, rich and sticky. The mash it was served on was like velvet, it was that smooth. I'm just waiting for a special occasion to roll around so I can go back really!

I wanted to try the Dublin shrimp but unfortunately they ran out, I was told usually ran out at lunch. So I ordered crab on toast, really big size crab meat with cucumber on a yellow crab paste. I thought the creamy oysters took the cake. Pro tip: come during Happy Hour and get a euro off each oyster!

I had clear favourites and ended up ordering extra rock oysters after. I tried 4 types of oysters, and I chose the rock oyster for the rest of the meal. The oyster selection is priced at €7.00 for 2 oysters, which makes it dangerously easy to keep adding "just two more rock oysters" . The oyster tempura was also a win, and it's €16.50 for 4 oysters. We shared the 10oz rib eye (€49.50) and it was good, but steak-wise other places win, so I'd personally focus on the seafood here. The atmosphere felt lively and polished without being stiff. It was busy, but the staff were friendly and welcoming. We spent roughly €150 for the oysters and the rib eye, and I'd happily go back for an oyster-led meal.

The restaurant is located in the city center, just a few block from our hotel near St. Stephens Green. The 4 of us previously made reservations. It was a great meal and among the best we enjoyed during our 2 week stay in various parts of Ireland. Our waitress was great, particularly when she explained the Shrimp Scampi in Ireland was breaded. We had a nice table, with a nice view of the bar and the room, and fun energy. Here's what we ordered: - Matt's Seafood Linguine (Eric) - Turbot (Gayle) - Halibut (Fern) - Porchetta (Don) We ordered a bottle of white wine for the table (Gavi Di Gavi), which Fern had heard good things about. We were not disappointed as it went well with everything (including the pork) and was enough wine for how we often drink at dinner. We finished off with 2 orders (for sharing) of Warm Chocolate Fondant. Full and happy, we ventured back into the night and to our nice hotel.

Since the items are fresh, several dishes may be sold out by dinner time. I was disappointed I couldn't try the soup of the day, poached pear and goat cheese salad or the louet feisser or grilled louet feisser. They were sold out, which is a good sign of their popularity and freshness. I started off side baby gem caesar dressing salad. It didn't taste much like caesar dressing. I could've done without it. For my main I had the seafood linguine. The seafood included pawns, mussels and clams. It was good, nice size portion of seafood. My friend had the trout special and he said it was very good and fresh. He also enjoyed the Carlingford and Connemara Oysters The cocktails unfortunately were a miss for us. My Manhattan tasted more like vermouth than whiskey. My friend exchanged the mojito for a cider because it was a bit too syrupy. My other friend did enjoy her whiskey sour. They have an extensive wine list. The service was great. We were seated immediately and one waitress was very friendly, had great energy and provided us with great recommendations. My plate had a healthy portion of both fish and chips and I even left some chips behind but one person in my group took to soaking her chips in the amazing malt vinegar provided. I had to go double duty, first splashing chips and fish with vinegar AND then going in hard on the tartar. Why leave chips behind? I ran out of tartar sauce! Fish Shop was fully booked out (& it's a small place!) so they could not accommodate me. I had to leave. I actually cried outside on the street. Gluten-free fish & chips is a big deal to me! So in 2026, I made a reservation for myself FAR in advance & made absolute certain that it was the CORRECT day. I did hold my breath just a little bit when I arrived, but I was good to go. The shop is tight - not a lot of room to move around. Unfortunately I was seated right by the door, so every time someone came in or out, I was blasted by cold air. I forgive. I ordered a skin contact Austrian wine & haddock fish & chips (gluten free, of course) & it all came out in a reasonable time. Everything was just spectacular. The fish was crispy, flaky, & perfectly done. The fries were thick & the malt vinegar was strong. The wine was weird & a perfect pairing. I really wish this spot wasn't across the ocean from me. I'll certainly be back every time I'm in the city.
