From fresh lobster harvested by the owner from Northern Ireland, to the steamed mussels, or seafood chowder, you're in for a real treat. We ordered the platter for two at a reasonable €19, and a bowl of heaven (chowder) at €7.50. Everything was prepared and presented to perfection. The calamari here is so delicious!! Love love love. We had the seafood medley, fish chowder, and shrimp/crawfish sandwich as well. None of these items stood out but they weren't bad either. The seafood medley had a lot of fresh seafood but not much taste. The fish chowder was good but WAY too creamy. It was too heavy to finish for me and I'm used to Boston clam chowder! Best fish and chips of our trip and best service and least expensive Guinness. Fishshack for the win! They have the best tartar sauce I've ever had- heavy on capers, which I love. Potatoes are perfect and you don't get a trough. I hate wasting food. Portions are just right here. Also, the ice cream is amazing. I had the honey comb. Mmmmmm. The house cab was good to- my husband tried that. 6.50 for a nice cab- pretty good, right? I think my 1/2 pint of Guinness was only 2.50. VERY delicious! While the reviews on yelp were good for FishShack, we had no idea it would be as great as it actually was. After traveling all day, most of the restaurants in the neighborhood had stopped serving for the night but FishShack was open and we're so glad it was. The staff is incredibly friendly, it's a cozy and quaint atmosphere and the food is fantastic. The Seafood Chowder is out of this world and the Peri Peri Shrimp was a favorite, too. We tried the Salmon Paté which was delicious and super unique and the fish and chips was pretty good as well. Pass on the calamari and the bacon cheeseburger. This cozy little joint in the middle of downtown Dublin seems unassuming but don't let its small size fool you. The food packs a punch with flavor and a twist on the traditional Irish pub food. It seems like a fast food place but you can find a seat during lunch. We were not rushed at all when we came for lunch during a Friday afternoon. We ordered the the house special grilled scallop. Take a look at the picture of my food. It was as delicious as it looked. The scallop is so fresh that is comes attached to the shell with the delicate crescent shaped roe/coral attached. It is baked with a creamy cheese topping but somehow not overwhelmed by it. You can choose a side of salad or fries. I chose the salad which came with an assortment of baby greens, roasted red peppers and olives. The dish was also presented with a nice surprise of sautéed fresh pees in the pod! My travel companions had the mussels in cream and wine sauce. This was done with a bit of Asian flavor which we loved. It had a hint of smoke and added such an interesting but respectful twist to the traditional preparation. Score! Last but not least, we had the fish and chips. The chips thinly bettered and light. The chips are wedges in a crescent bowl shape which gave it maximum amount of crunch balanced by the velvety potato texture. What an ingenious way to eat chips! Wish more places served their chips that way! For drinks, there is a nice albeit small selection of whites and reds. I had my lunch with a French rose which added a notch to our experience and rounded out the seafood lunch perfectly. The wait staff were super friendly and helpful. This place is great! I feel like the Parliament Street area of town really needed a restaurant like this and, alas, Fish Shack came to the rescue! They have a very popular sister restaurant in Dun Laoghaire but this is bigger, which is great because it meant we had no problem getting a table. Decor is typical nautical, with good lighting and a decent amount of space between the seats. The menu is great, with plenty to choose from, and nothing seemed over-the-top pricey! We opted for the Scampi and Mussels, both of which came with a generous portion of chunky chips and some toasted crusty bread. I couldn't fault the food, it was great and very reasonably priced at around €15 quid each! They don't have a dessert menu here but they do cones of great quality ice-cream (we got pistachio and chocolate). I couldn't fault the service here either, the food came out really quick and the staff were attentive without being over-bearing! It's not the best seafood I've had in Dublin, which is why I didn't give it the full 5 start but it's definitely up there with what town has to offer in terms of seafood. Another newly opened restaurant in Dublin! I was really impressed. The staff were lovely and friendly without being overbearing. Anytime we needed anything they were quick to provide! We had a platter of various fishy delights to start - crispy calamari, fresh prawns and crab on toast, it was delicious and more than enough. For the mains we went for the scampi & chips and the mac & cheese. Both went down really well but we ended up feeling like we should be rolled out the door. Too. Much. Food. We were staying in an apartment of off Dame Street so we found this restaurant through Yelp. It's a small place but modern and clean. We had the fried calamari and it was lightly breaded and fried ... so yummy. We also had the shrimp nachos, shrimp and crayfish sandwich, seafood platter, super salad and the fish and chips. All of it was very good but the calamari was the best. The portions were average size and the price was reasonable compared to other restaurants in Dublin. Awesome little place! First night in Dublin and we wondered around looking for some fish and chips at a place that wasn't packed to the gills (no pun intended!). Super fresh fish overall, lightly battered fish and chips, and an amazing seafood chowder that was creamy with lots of large chunks of fish. House salad was good in its own right, large portion with lots of good veggies. All presentation was great! The also had a lobster tank that you could pick your lobster from if you chose to go that direction on the menu (we didn't). All the lobster's looked delicious though! We didn't have room this time around, but dessert looked amazing. Various pies and ice cream that beg to be tried. We'll have to return before we leave Dublin just to try dessert. Love everything that I've tried here. The chips are thick cut and tasty, not greasy. Some of the best mussels I've ever had. Do NOT miss the ice cream! Wow. My friends brought me here while I was visiting from NYC and it's some of the best seafood I've had in the city. Fun and causal space with long picnic like tables. Came here because the proximity it was from our hotel, the place is super clean and service super friendly. We ordered the mussels and scampi and chips, scampi is basically fried shrimp. They were both good just wish I had a few more prawns to eat and had to order more tartar sauce which is custom made In House, very yummy coming from a non tartar eating person. The mussels soaked im a bath of cream sauce that was also good, the size of rhe mussels were about the size of two-three peas but were plenty of them. They also give you grilled sourdough bread to dip in the yummy broth. Over all a great experience, was in and out quickly because we had other plan after. Good place to eat! read more

We really wanted to try Irish seafood before we left town, and the Fish Shack Cafe did not disappoint. It had a wonderful clean and modern interior that still felt like it was from the seaside. The service was great as well, never pressuring us to go (we were there for two hours) or to order more (although we gladly did). The food was exceptional. First I have to recommend the beer they have made especially for them; Crisp and hoppy, but not overly bitter. It went great with the Seafood. Which was exceptional. They were out of crab claws, but they made up for it giving me a large portion of everything else within the medley. The medley was the perfect marriage of flavors, but my girlfriend got the po'boy which was to die for. The bread was bursting with flavors, and was even better dipped in the medley. After dinner we had the strawberry jam ice cream (also fresh) and the owner sat and chatted with us. He was a sweet Irishman and it just made the meal that much more enjoyable for me. read more

A friend is fond of seafood so we popped into the FishShack (Parliament St) at about 6pm on a Thursday evening, the staff were very welcoming and we were seated immediately with some chilled water while we browsed the menu. I went with the FishShack Club (toasted flour bap with grilled chicken, streaky bacon, cheddar cheese, boiled egg, tomato, crisp lettuce & mayo) with chips while my friend decided on Shrimp Nachos (crisp nachos with Boston shrimp, chorizo and cheese topped with Tabasco dressing) and chips. The FishShack Club was very tasty and the chips were real chips eg: chunky, crispy outer coating and a light and fluffy inside and quite tasty, I suspect they use properly aged potatoes. The Shrimp Nachos came as a very large portion, really enough for two people, while I didn't try it myself I was assured it was very tasty and quite filling. To sum up: 1) All the staff were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. 2) Food was great and excellent value for money considering this is a city centre venue.
