There's not a ton of late night options for food in Marin. Fortunately, not only is Local Kitchen is a fantastic late night option, but also kind of a fantastic option in general! To be clear, this place isn't exactly a place you go to sit down to eat-- though there's a handful of tables here, this place seems more optimized for take out (which suits me just fine). The variety of food options here could give the Cheesecake Factory a run for its money-- there's burgers, sushi-burritos, pasta, sandwiches, fried chicken, salads, really darn good ice cream, pizza, and even more. Think of it like a mall food court, only with better food and the benefit of not needing to walk through a mall to get to it. This is a place where you order entirely too much because everything sounds fantastic, head home, and then realize that everything is fantastic and that you ordered entirely too much (but that's not a problem because odds are you have a fridge) The food is cooked fresh to order-- I heard them drop the chicken wings and shrimp tempura in my order into the frier. The orders of pasta we had were made with fresh pasta (I've paid more for worse pasta at some nearby restaurants) and the sauce was rich and satisfying. For a meal made at 10:00 at night, absolutely nothing looked like it was microwaved and everything ended up being absolutely tasty. Their app makes it incredibly easy to order takeout as well. While not at the level of flying cars, I'd say this is definitely a sign that we're in the future (though, as an aside, this is the kind of dining experience I thought would become more popular in a post Covid word) I really can't recommend this Local Kitchen enough, I look forward to flinging a lot of money at them. (If they ever add pho or ramen here I'm never going to financially recover from this) read more

Worth a try if you have an eclectic group with eclectic palates. I had the wagyu patty melt and it was really good even carried out. And the marinated beets from the Israeli menu were maybe the best I've ever tasted. Others in the group had salad, and salmon, which they also liked. One hack: our order was ready WAY before they'd estimated it, and even though we planned for some cushion time, we were still only just on the way there when they texted that it was all ready. Not a huge issue for us, but I would probably be there about 15-20 minutes ahead of whenever they tell you your order will be ready, just in case. Overall though, I would go there again and absolutely get those beets again haha! read more

First off - I love this concept. Eight restaurants under one roof and you can mix and match so there's something for everyone. And they're open until midnight! I love Oren's Hummus and Sushirrito but don't want want to make the trek to SF - so it's great to have in Mill Valley. I hope they add Dumpling Time down the road. The online ordering was easy and prices are fair. You can see if your order is ready when you arrive on monitors at the entrance. It was bustling when I arrived. Probably 20 orders on the board. They were a little behind when I arrived (when ordering the wait was estimated to be 35 min but after I hit submit it was 55 min and my order was ready after 65 min) but it's understandable. It was their first Friday in business and it was peak dinner hour. The staff was friendly and working hard. The food was tasty and tasted just like if you were to go the restaurant in the city. Just two small issues. My fries were cold when I picked up my order. I suspect they were done earlier than the other items and sat a bit. And someone else's sandwich was in the bag with my order when I checked it in the parking lot. However - it was their 4th day in business so I give them some slack. I didn't complain but I did answer honestly when I filled out the satisfaction survey they emailed out that night. Within 20 minutes they wrote back and apologized and offered me a credit towards a future order. That's stellar customer service. We will definitely be back! Well done Local Kitchens team! I was so excited to find out that Square Guys Pizza was at Local Kitchen in Mill Valley. I love their pizza and their chicken wings. Unfortunately, Local Kitchens uses canola oil which I don't eat. I tried the wings anyway, and they were not the same as when you get them from the restaurant. They also buy their ingredients from Sysco, which isn't the best quality food. The staff was friendly enough and the place was clean. I like the concept. I wish they used higher quality ingredients. read more

I discovered this was open while going to my favorite nail salon, Holly Nails (highly recommended them, too!). My first time going the staff was extremely helpful in explaining the concept of local kitchens. The staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the food being served. Senior sisig and sushiritto had delicious food. I wish they something like this in SoCal. I'll be paying another visit next time I'm in NorCal. The ambiance was cozy yet modern and very well kept and clean. The most helpful employee was Emmett. He was extremely helpful and accommodating. I believe he has the knowledge and skill to become the next CEO of the company. This man needs a promotion and recognition expeditiously! read more

Don't like to be slapped with service fees that are at the end of checkout. It's not an honest way of doing business. There's nothing extra you get from the service fee and it's not for the staff like a tip would. read more

Ordered a patty melt - which came on white bread and a cheese I couldn't identify. Perhaps my fault for missing a bread choice within the computerized menu. My friend was delighted with his burger and raved about it. Not exactly pleased with the sole computer interface for ordering - very impersonal and would be confusing for people not familiar with iPhone/Google menu driven technology. Great that a competent young man (an actual human) stood behind the counter to assist customers with questions or problems. Ambience non-existent. Needs improvement for dine-in options. read more

Gonna be honest - this tasted like (good) airport food. I would have been impressed if I were between flights at SFO. (I dined in, so food was at peak quality.) Yella Fallafel had good Fallafel. Too small and expensive for Fallafel though. Hummus is way too thick. Using too much Tahini...I added a tablespoon of water and half a lemon to adjust. I will say the pita bread was fantastic. Also ordered the chicken rice place. They call it shawarma but Its basically sautéed chicken. No way the chicken is cooked in the traditional shawarma way. Having a late night spot in Marin is a godsend. I wish this place was here when I was in high school! All reputable restaurants with quick service. Staff are friendly, but quite hands off given the nature of the place. Food was good - you can't go wrong with Senor Sisig. Rounding up to 5 stars given how late this place is open and the number of options. Place is crowded and plenty of seating if you want to dine in. Clean space with music and plenty of parking. Brutal. Order for pick up....IF ..... you have an hour. They will text you it's ready at 30 minutes, then you'll go to pick it up and stand around for 30 minutes while confused employees stare at each other. Place has 20% of the staff they need. UPDATE: They reached out unsolicited and issued me a refund due to my poor experience. It's not the money, it's the response! Immediate and professional. Wow, what an incredible find! I'm honestly shocked I did not know about this space sooner and simultaneously bummed I missed out on enjoying all the delicious food options. Emmitt is genuinely an excellent front facing server - one who shifts the general perspective of the typical Marin dining experience in a refreshingly positive way. He is appropiately friendly and easy to converse with, highly knowledgeable on all the menu options as well as explaining business operations, and basically cemented our guaranteed return to this location. Highly recommend coming here - great for families with varying food preferences, plenty of parking for quick pick up access, spotless inside seating space, and very affordable prices for meal size - arguably the best value you are going to find locally for fresh prepped meals that isn't fast food. My husband and i have enjoyed 2 dishes at the Mill Valley Local Kitchens since it opened last year. He loves The Melt cheesburger with all the toppings, and I'm hooked on the Pita Chicken. The Pita comes in a gluten free variety. The hot sauces that accompany the Pita Chicken really add an extra spark. Today, we tried Humphry Slocimbe Malted Milk Chocolate ice cream.
