Around 3 AM, the day after Christmas, my 4 year old climbed into bed with my wife and me. He likes our new UGG comforter and flannel Sleep Number sheets. I do, too, and I take great pains to make sure both the comforter and sheets are kept clean. Not only were they expensive, but they were an investment in our sleeping comfort (I mean, we spent over $5k on a Sleep Number bed, so we invested heavily in our sleep comfort...) My wife, who's a nurse, sleeps lightly and has a keen ear to signs and symptoms of distress. I was in a deep sleep when I heard my wife exclaim, "he's going to throw up, he's going to throw up..." I got in combat daddy mode and quickly picked up my son, keeping his head upright and leaning him forward as we rushed to the bathroom. I got him, I thought, in time for a majority of the vomitus to end up in the shower, but, when the lights turned on, there was vomit on me, my sweats, the bathroom floor, the bedroom carpet the bed frame (which is upholstered), the bed sheets AND the comforter! Sigh! After getting my son and I cleaned up and him settled and sleeping, I assessed the damage. My wife threw the sheets in the washer and started the load and I got out the wipes and tried to clean the carpet as best as I could. I mopped the floor and then I looked at the comforter. It was covered in what looked like Cheetos juice... Ugh! Knowing that the "fur" needed to be dry cleaned, I used a damp wash cloth with some mild soap to try and prevent any stains from setting in. It really only smeared the stain. I told my wife, once we got up, that I'd bring it to the cleaners. As it turned out, my Frenchie puppy was limping from a night of horse play with my mother-in-law's boyfriend. We were concerned so we decided to take Hershey to the vet. Unfortunately, the day after Christmas, when it's the official holiday, no vets or dry cleaners were opened. I must've called a dozen cleaners. I was ready to give up when I came upon Liz's. I called and the owner answered. I asked what time they closed and he said 6pm. Coincidentally, Orange County Emergency Pet Clinic opened at 6pm. Great, I could kill two birds with one stone. I got to the cleaners around 5:15pm and I met a nice, elderly woman, who ended up being the owner's wife. She was pleasant and told me that she wanted to keep the shop closed, but that her husband said he was up anyway and he would see if anyone needed any cleaning. She told me that the shop was busy with a steady flow of customers that both she and her husband didn't expect. I told her that they were the only ones opened and she smiled. She looked at the comforter and assured me that it "SHOULD" be able to be cleaned, but she threw in the usual, "I can't guarantee the stain will come out, but we will do our best..." I told her that I tried to keep the stain from setting and kept it damp and she assured me again that they would do their best. It cost $30.00, up front, but for me, if the comforter could be saved, it was $30.00 well spent. She first told me that it would be ready Friday, but she saw my expression that I really wanted it sooner. She then looked at her calendar and said, okay, how about Wednesday after 12pm? Great! I replied. I was anxious to see the results and I picked up the comforter in the late afternoon, early evening on Wednesday. I got to meet the "husband." He was very polite and asked what I was picking up since I forgot my order receipt. I told him a comforter and he said, "oh, yeah, you called if we were open..." I told him yes, it was me. He went and got the comforter and said, "oh, this is a big one..." I thanked him and his wife and wished both of them a Happy New Year. I dropped the comforter off with my wife and rushed to get my kids to the barbers for their New Year's Eve hair cuts, so I didn't have a chance to inspect the comforter. When we got back, I went to the room and my wife had placed the comforter on the bed. I asked her if the stain was gone and she said yes. The comforter was clean and fluffy and looked great. I don't know if I could have waited until 12/27 and paid maybe a few dollars less and gotten the same results. But for the piece of mind I got by bringing it in the day it was stained, it was well worth it. And my sleep comfort was restored! read more

I came here about a year ago and had some dress hemming to do. They were all casual and pretty cheap. Nothing too fancy and only 1 layer of fabric. I've been coming here for at least 8 years. The owners are super sweet and are always so excited to see me. They get even more excited to see my husband, as he doesn't come in as often. I get all my work dresses and pants dry cleaned here. My husband gets his expensive car show gear cleaned here as well as his slacks and dress shirts. For my weekend wear, I like to show off my legs, so I often buy regular length dresses, and have them shortened. They get it right every time!!!!!! Parking is steep here, but it's so worth it. I had a really bad experience here. First off, she refused to tailor my suit coat, it is too long on me and too baggy, I wanted a slim fit look, but she wouldn't do it saying it looked good. When I gave my pants for dry cleaning, I put my pants on, go to work, and looked at my pants in the photo below. Bad experience. Really wasn't worth the trip. Go across the street to metro cleaners. This business have been around as long as I can remember. The owners are very friendly from all the times that I had came in. I usually don't do dry cleaning, only my work clothes when I worked at a law firm. Now that I wear scrubs, no need for fancy dry cleaning, right? So I only dry clean on special clothing, like formal or business wear. Last summer of 2012 I dropped off a dress that I wore to a wedding and a jacket. A few days later I picked it up and my vintage dress was was discolored. Its not noticeable indoors, but take it outdoor using natural lighting and you can see the streaks of discoloration to my mint colored dress. I did not notice this until I took it home. Afterwards, I took it back and complained to the owner. She said "oh, it's normal. After you wash it, it should go away". Im like "okay, why dont you fix the problem and i'll pick it up in a few days". She agreed. A few days later, I picked it up, and turned out that my dress was a few shades lighter as they tried to match the previous mistake that they made. What the flip? Really? She stated that the streaks should "wash away", not the whole dress color! So her husband, the co-owner, stepped in and blamed it on the material of the dress. Really? If they had mentioned this or warned me before accepting my dress, then it's a different story. However, they beat around the bush the entire process, very unprofessional and shady!!! Oh get this. They told me to take it back to wherever I purchased it from and return it. So they damaged my dress. Did not take responsibility. Blamed it on others (the material of the dress). And told me go out of my way, wasting time and gas, to take it back to the merchant. It wasn't the merchant's mistake it was theirs. THEIRS! Unhappy customer. Never again! DO NOT GO HERE. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. I did not sign anything prior to submitting my material. I SHOULD have had them paid for my dress. Lesson learned. What' s most independent business' warning? This dry cleaner is awesome. I'm used to next day service so going to 2 to 3 day service is a bummer which is the only reason they don't get a 5-star review.
