Found this place online and called they said they could see what they can do. So brought it over and Sal was so nice he owns the shop. I contacted G&G Tailors Friday morning, spoke with Sal, and asked if he could help me make a same-day alteration. Where do I start? I found this place by chance I was at the Brea mall purchasing a tuxedo for a winter gala that I needed to attend last minute the button was missing. It feels awful to leave a review like this but I need to share this in case it could happen to someone else. When we first got there it was mainly for a pair of pants (tuxedo), too big and too long so we decided to swing by. The place is very clean and organized, it gives you really nice vibes so did the owner when he greeted us. He did an amazing job with the pants and gave us advise on how the pants would look better and what accessories to wear them with. We brought the jacket with us to match the pants and the tailor noticed it was dusty. Yes, the jacket had been in the closet for 3 years, my husband had worn it only once but it was in perfect condition, almost as new just dusty. He proceeded to explain that we should be aware of where to take the jacket to get it cleaned and do some conditioning on it, he told us about the products that should be used and showed us how to do it since the material was delicate. He offered to do it and we decided to leave it in his hands since he sounded like he knew what to do. Days later my husband picked it up and told me that the collar had some little LITTLE scratches, I didn't check it since he said little. Next day when packing everything for our trip and his sisters wedding I took a look at the jacket, I wanted to cry. The collar was completely ruined, not at all in the same condition as we had left it. With just hours to head to the airport we decided to take it anyways since we had no choice. While wearing it on the day of the wedding the material started to come off so badly that it started to stain the shirt. We had a photoshoot scheduled and we missed it because we had to go pick up another jacket at a friends house that luckily had the same measurements as my husband. We were upset, embarrassed, sad, so many bad feelings on my sister in laws wedding!!! I messaged the tailor telling him what had happened and asking for his help to get it fix once back home. There was no apology, no acknowledgment at all about the damage done and it was as if he was blaming everything on us. After the wedding I did as he said and contacted other tailor, one that works with celebrities and many brides and grooms, he told me that whoever worked on the jacket was completely careless and it was heartbreaking to see such damage but it could be fixed. I wasn't looking for a refund nor compensation for the jacket, I was looking for help! I asked him to help me fix it in any way he could and he would just say he couldn't fix it, he wouldn't fix it, "what do you want me to say?", denying any damage done to the jacket, saying it was brought like that to him. This was the worst part, denial and not owning up to what he had done. Last message was just "stop texting me, come to the store", what for? Jacket is not here and won't be fixed, we left it with the other tailor to get it fixed. I guess if a basic alteration is what you need I totally recommend this place, you won't regret it, really and honestly he'll do a great job; but if it's a delicate material or piece of clothing that needs extra care I'd recommend somewhere else. Update after owner replied: Obviously I can't give a pic of the before anymore, you knew very well the condition of the jacket when we left it to you, you were the one recommending to have it only cleaned because the jacket was almost new, as you said: it only needs a brush and the dust will be off. We never ever requested for any alteration, fix or change to the collar nor the jacket, just the cleaning and that is why it was $10. Don't try to change the scenario, we left it only for a clean, it was returned damaged and then I reached to you for help, you only turned us down. Also, you may check your cameras, I was there every single time with my husband in your store, he checked with me on every single thing you recommended to do, I WAS there the day of the pick up in the car waiting outside since there was no parking space available and didn't check the jacket because I trusted you, we trusted you and this is how you paid us. This is just absurd, to deny and not own to your mistakes is one thing but to lie and try to change the story? Try to blame the customer however you can to cover your mistakes? Sal is a tailor god!! i went in super nervous because my wedding was in like 2 weeks and i was taking it to him super late with such a huge task! it was a big dress all around. the bodice was loose and he had to tighten up the beaded part in the back for me as well as chop the entire bottom half of the dress. definitely not a task many would do (the first lady i took it to at 'make it fit' denied me). he gave me a quote and said he'd have it done. and he most definitely did just that. he had it done days before the date of my wedding and even fixed up a shirt and blazer my wife brought to him and although we brought everything in with a short amount of time, he never complained and handled everything so graciously. he did say he would have told me no if he really didn't think it could be done in time and is very blunt. he doesn't beat around the bush and i really appreciated that cause so many people are fake these days. the customer isn't always right, plus i didn't give him much time to complete it so i knew i was on his time. i'm glad i trusted sal with one of the most important days of my life, you should too! read more

Long story short: I bought a made to measure suit and the suit jacket fit fine, but the pants came in looking horrible (green shirt). What pissed me off is I went to men's warehouse, a local tailor, nearby dry cleaner, and even the company I bought the suit from and they all said the pants fit perfect, even though I can feel it riding up. When I went to visit Sal he said the pants needed to be completely redone. While everyone said it fit perfect he noticed that it was: 1. It was tight on the hips 2. It was riding up in the center 3. It's pulling at the calves I took pictures of the pants addressing the riding up and the hips, and after he finished fixing the "pulling at the calves" which is circled in white, this fits better than anything I could possibly try at any designer store. When I went around to get second opinions most places only knew about letting out at the hips and where the cuff should hit on the foot. Sal knows how to redesign pants from reshaping the hips, upper legs and knees so the pants felt like a dream when he was done. I've tried several designer suit pants at malls like canali, Armani, John varvatos, and Hugo boss. I liked the fit of Hugo boss pants by far the most. These pants however fit better than Hugo boss. Lastly I would like to reiterate that the tailors I visited said nothing can really be done or it looks perfect, which is a very irritating thing to experience. This shop is a little pricier than most, but well worth it. Bottom line: this guy takes pride in his work and it shows. read more

I had a great experience at G & G! I picked up a suit for my friend's wedding and took the pants in to get tailored. I am a fitness trainer and have a bigger upper body and smaller waist. The jacket fit but the pants it came with were too big. Sal was honest with me and told me that the pants were 3.5 inches too big and would have to be remade which would cost almost half the cost of the suit. Instead of just trying to take my money, he suggested that I go back and see if I could get a smaller size. Because he was honest with me, I went back and got a size smaller jacket and it came with pants that he was able to fix for me at a very reasonable price. So this was a long time coming because it took a while to try on my whole tux ensemble, but I wanted to give a huge shout-out to Sal for doing an excellent job on my adjustments for my wedding suit. I bought my suit from Suitshop a couple sizes too large, and it obviously needed some hemming for the pants. Sal gave me his honest opinion and I let him get to work. I was worried because I haven't bought a decent suit for five years, and I got wider, but not any taller during that time. Only two weeks later, the suit was finished. I just tried on the whole thing and my worries were completely assuaged. I looked the best than I ever did, and I'm really appreciative of Sal's friendliness, honesty, and impeccability. Wow, just wow! I dropped off a pair of pants for a client of mine to have them hemmed ($15.00) and told the tailor I would pick them up the following Tuesday around 3pm. At first, he wanted to have me pick them up Wednesday and I let him know that she was needing them for her upcoming trip and that was the only date/time I could pick them up. He said he would have them ready. Come Tuesday, I show up at 3pm, he keeps me waiting almost 10 minutes while he is shooting the breeze with another customer about a wedding she is going to, not about business. When he is finally done flirting and turns his attention to me, he says "oh, I have it down for Wednesday". I reiterated to him about our conversation and again all I got was "oh, I have it down for Wednesday". No apology, nothing. He said to come back at 4:30pm and he would have them finished. I show up at 5pm, he has them ready. Starts griping about how he had it down for Wednesday. Rings up the service saying he deducted $5.00 for the inconvience. He was extremely snippy about it and I mentioned that "I did tell you Tuesday at 3pm" to which he replies, "I did give you $5.00 off". I was trying to enter my bank card in as a credit card and he informed that his Poynt Smart Terminal was not capable of running a debit card as credit. He made it sound as if this particular machine/company was incapable of it. I then tried to do it as a debit card transaction and found that it was not an alpha-numeric keypad and I know my password by letters not numbers. When I explained my difficulty, that started another round of back and forth and I finally looked at my phone to figure it out since he was of zero help on the matter. Finally, I started to walk out the door and said "have a nice evening" and he says "not any more". Seriously? I threw back over my shoulder, "oh, I am going to have fun with this". While I already knew the answer, the next business day I called Poynt and asked if their smart terminal was capable of running bank cards as both debit and credit. As I had figured, the answer was yes, it was just that "the merchant was probably too cheap to pay for the service or the fees". I will let you draw your own conclusion. By the way, my client gets billed with fees, $48.71 per hour for my services. My having to come back a second time (30-minute round trip) because he was incapable of writing down the correct info cost her $24.36, so his measly $5.00 discount did not cover what it cost her when he wasted my time. Had I even thought about it at the time, I would have requested he not charge her at all and provide the balance as a credit for future use. I let her know of his attitude as well! Hopefully, she won't use G&G anymore. ------- Just in case G&G removes it I want to post a response they posted and my rebuttal. 7/2/2019Hillary, Your attitude was extremely entitled and problematic. Many things about how the service was unsatisfactory for you was based on your negative attitude to begin with. You're a condescending bully who is so privileged that if things are not seen your way,then it is deemed mistreatment towards you. I thoroughly processed and handled your item with attentive customer service,yet you stereotype my mannerisms and business after all said and done. Nothing while in the store was negative other than "we agreed upon Tuesday at 3pm" and "I can't get this machine to work". Simply a statement of fact not negativity. It's easy for a business to throw their bad behavior back on a customer, it is a lot more difficult to admit you are wrong and apologize.
