This review is for PTP Therapy, a physical therapy provider, from which, I received a dozen "very unique physical therapy" experiences.
PTP Therapy is no where to be found on Yelp.
I saw the Chinese characters above the front door, and I had high hopes that, unlike Concentra's acupuncture, chiropractic, and physical therapy offerings- I might have a better experience.
Via Medrisk, a third party "appointment setting organization," I opted to try this physical therapy provider to address my work related injuries.
I received various stretching exercises, and I was given "xerox" copies with drawings to help remind me of the stretches.
I experienced a few TENS machine sessions
I experienced one "herbal therapy" session.
I experienced five or so "massages."
I was offered a massage, and out of curiosity I accepted, wondering what kind of massage would be helpful in re-habbing my surgically repaired knee.
After my first "massage" session, I tried, several times, asking what type of massage it was that was being rendered- I never did get an answer.
I have heard of Shiatsu massage, and I have heard of deep tissue massage. Perhaps what I received was something else.
What it consisted of was the "masseuse" placing his elbow on my quadricep, leaning on it, while applying more and more of his weight and moving that elbow in circular motions. He started close to the upper point of the muscles point of attachment, and he worked the entire quad, moving the elbow about 3" laterally, before he repeated the process; then, he moved down about 3" and repeated the process. He moved onto my other leg, and he repeated the "massage."
Next, he had me turn over, and he did the same on both my lower glutes. He then, moved onto my hamstrings.
Many of us have heard of the Chinese water torture, but now, I have first hand experience with the Chinese elbow torture. It reminded me of a you tube video featuring the Iron Crotch technique training- the 57 second one.
For some reason, my physical therapist insisted on offering me this "massage," and while I managed to talk my way out of several of these "massages," I was steered into undergoing more of these massages, than I cared to.
