I was searching for an acupuncturist to help with my severe migraines that had suddenly returned three months ago. I needed someone seriously good because my migraines are gnarly: auras, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, nausea, and recurring 24/7 with no alleviation from OTC meds like Excedrin and Naproxen. I had great results with an acupuncturist in Taiwan about 7 years ago, so I had someone to compare with. Right off the bat, I knew Dr. Chen was different. He doesn't have a cure-for-all methodology and instead tailors his treatments according to your health history and current symptoms. I've been back to his clinic eight times now, and every time his placement of needles has been different. Dr. Chen takes his time, is professional, and has a calm demeanor. His space is relaxing and positive and super, super clean. Needles all come out of individually sealed packets. The main thing is that my migraines are gone. This is not an exaggeration. I still had migraines for the first four visits, but after the 5th, they're completely gone. I've been migraine free for 17 days now. I get a fuzzy feeling inside my head every now and then, but in terms of pain, nothing. I would give Dr. Chen a 10 star if I could! He radically eased my sciatica pain only after a few acupuncture sessions. He truly knows his stuff! I herniated my disc after a brutal hike two weeks ago. And after about a week of dealing with it which includes and not limited to taking at least 800 mg of ibuprofen every 4-6 hours, taking hot baths, and stretching, I still found myself hunched over many times waiting for the pain to subside before i can walk or stand up again. The pain was borderline unbearable (and for those who have ever experienced sciatica, you know what I'm talking about). I also hadn't had a good night sleep in over a week at this point. I was desperate and willing to try anything. My boyfriend recommended that I go and see Dr. Chen because he recently went to see him for a broken wrist and said Dr. Chen eased his pain to about 50% only from one session. I was like, "Sure, what do I have to lose other than a few bucks if it doesn't work." I AM SO GLAD I WENT!! Like most people, I'm a skeptic. I've also tried acupuncture before when I had sciatica on my other leg and the result was OK at best (I saw about 10-15% improvement). During my first session, Dr. Chen asked about the history and origin of the pain. We then proceeded with the acupuncture. After about 20 minutes, I felt pretty good, but the proof was going to be how I was going to feel the rest of that day. Dr. Chen recommended that I come back to see him the next day for it to be effective. Again, being the skeptical person that I am, I told Dr. Chen, "Let's make an appointment for tomorrow, but if I feel that the pain level hasn't changed, I'd like to call prior to the appointment to cancel if that's OK." He had no issue with that. That night was the first night I was able to asleep without waking up in a fetal position crying out in pain. Next morning I called to confirm our appointment. As I write this review, I'm only 4 sessions in and about 80-90% pain free. What puzzles me is how some little needles can help with a bulging disc when I know it's still herniated. When I asked Dr. Chen this, he said it's because he had to rearrange my Chi or Qi. Whatever it is, it works and I'm a believer. Also, not all acupuncturists are created equal; I've been to other acupuncturists and never saw the results I've seen with Dr. Chen. He is the real deal. His clinic is super clean and during COVID time, Dr. Chen is always wearing his mask and respectful of people's comfort level. I can't recommend him enough. Dr. Chen is a very patient and experienced doctor. All along, I never liked taking medicine. I only saw a doctor when I felt very bad. A cough and a sore throat this time has been for a long time. After a friend's recommendation, I went to see Dr. Chen. Dr. Chen asked me all the conditions and told me that acupuncture can help my symptoms. I'm willing to give it a try. On the first time, it was on my left hand, it made me very nervous and there was some pain. That night I felt better in my throat, but I still had a cough. After a day, I went again, this time for acupuncture on right hand. After another day, this time in addition to the hands, also he did it on both of my feet. That night I felt much better. Doing my routine acupuncture treatments with Dr.Roy three times a week, I feel so much better than before. I fell out of bed one morning and broke one of my ribs, and hurt my back really bad. The pain was excruciating! The doctor said there's nothing I can do but just rest in bed and let the bone recovery slowly. I'm just so glad that I found Dr.Roy thru one of my friends who is also his patient, he told me that Acupuncture would help me recover sooner. I'm still recovering, but I can finally lift stuff and doing works at the third week. I did acupuncture, cupping and Moxibustion together as a combo, I also took Chinese medicine at the same time. I went to visit my primary medical physician and was prescribed medication for pain and nausea, however the symptoms continued to persist. My co-worker recommended that I visit DAO acupuncture. Before I came here, every time I have my period there was so much blood. In fact it would keep going on for 7 to 10 days! I would get headaches and when I stand up I would feel dizzy!
