I bought a Groupon to try this place out with 3 visits. Making the appointment was fine initially, but when I was scheduled to meet with Dr. Park, I didn't really appreciate not being given the forewarning that his English was not fluent. He was gentle in demeanor, but when you're trying acupuncture for your very first time, I think it helps if you're communicating with someone who can speak the same language as you. During my first visit, I was scheduled to meet with Dr. Park (who has broken English) for my first visit. I told Kelsie that I had never had acupuncture before. She had me fill out some paperwork. Then she brought me into a room. She asked me to take off my shoes & socks. She asked me to lay on the patient bed, & she lowered a heating lamp to face my feet. She mentioned that I shouldn't feel pain when they place the needles in me. She then closed the door behind her as she left the room. Because I was experiencing a cold, I figured I'd see whether acupuncture could help with treating a cold & other ailments that I had. While removing some needles, I remember him even saying, "See? No blood!" It was a weird comment to hear because I later saw some dried blood on my skin. The needles (if deep enough) did hurt, like a stinging feeling. I didn't feel that the treatment from Dr. Park helped overall. Anyways, it wasn't until after my 2nd appointment, that Kelsie scheduled to see Dr. Lee, who is the primary practitioner here who speaks English fluently. I liked meeting with Dr. Lee. I had wanted to try cupping, & he gave me a preview of it. So that was an interesting & new experience. I wish that I had started out with meeting Dr. Lee first. Juicy acupuncture duo I found this place thru groupon and didn't think much of it since they offered it at a great low rate. I got it mainly for my mom but I decided to just get one for myself anyway. However, I was very surprised that acupuncture really does work. I have gone before at other places and I stopped going because I felt like it didn't work so I stopped seeing any acupuncture. This place is welcoming and professional. The front desk Kelsie is very sweet and beautiful and has a lot of knowledge. The 2 doctors alternate and they both are very good and really try to help you with your problems. I'm 30 yrs old. I have been dealing with chronic pain for at least 4 yrs. Dr. Lee in collaboration with Dr. Park have been exceptional at what they do. I love the teamwork. I have been to other acupuncturists, none quite like this pair of professionals who know what they're doing. I can honestly say that my pain has decreased by at least 75%. I lived with hemeroids on a weekly basis for over 10 years. Both internal and external. Visited several western doctors and also tried Yoga Therapy as I am a Yoga Therapist myself. I went to Balance and Harmony feeling malpracticed half to death by previous doctors, and I think the Balance and Harmony practitioners agreed. Most of what was wrong with me needed time to get better by itself, and patience. They will prescribe herbs (and scorpion venom), which is not as flakey as it sounds. Plants have incredibly potent effects. Some of them can kill us. Lots of important drugs are made from plants, or are synthetic versions of plant drugs. I have visited Dr Lee twice for lower back pain treatment and already seen huge improvement. I was experiencing severe pain in my lower back and hips with pain radiating down to my leg all the way to the toes to the point I could only feel relieved when sitting or lying down. Pain killers made little difference in the pain. Dr. Lee applied Electroacupuncture in first visit which gave me about 30% relieve. I came here for treatment for a couple months, I gotta say, the service was great. I saw Dr Lee for most of my treatments but also Dr Park. Both were great and they tune in to what's happening to your body intuitively. Just when I was starting to feel the treatments working, they raised their prices and changed their payment plans, so the main affordable package (10 sessions) can no longer be broken up into separate payments... You can now only do this if you buy a bigger package.., this was pretty disappointing considering it was perfectly priced to be affordable and convenient for the average person's income. I called and expressed this to the doc on the phone and that the treatments were REALLY working...the response was simply, "call us back when you're ready." I felt like the connection I made with the Doc just vanished in that moment... I highly doubt I'll come back here, I've already found some other places that have better pricing for similar service. Before stepping into this place and paying the $100 initial consultation/treatment, call your healthcare insurance to see if treatment is covered AND within network. If Balance and Harmony is "out of network," you'll be expected to pay about $70 per session. They have you sign an agreement on your first visit when you pay $100, even before checking to see if your healthcare covers the ongoing treatment. If it doesn't and you can't afford the $70/session moving forward, you just lost $100 ... they won't refund you. It's a gamble coming here, unless you call your health insurance first. I bought a groupon deal which was a steal. Initial consultation and 3 treatments for about $60. I have been looking for alternative medicine and wanted to shy away from popping pills to "fix" the issue. It is very easy to get an appt unlike other places I've tried. I came in for the consultation and Dr. Jeong seemed really nice. He began checking my pulse and can sense something is wrong. It was so weird yet cool that he was able to detect what was wrong with my body. The atmosphere was really relaxing. The needles didn't bother me and it was quite soothing listening to music and falling asleep. The next visit Dr Jeong was very accommodating. With my work schedule and coming from North Hollywood was far so he opened up a later appt for me. I was was really appreciative of that. Tomorrow will be my fourth session, and so far it seems like I can handle stress better at work and feel much better about myself.
