First time here after the results of my urine test I got all negative from my Doc, I just come here for my blood test. Immediately I entered, there were already many patients and one lady Mandy Wong/Wang at the front desk impressively handled all by herself which was efficient and fast. She reminds me of me having to always help soooooooo many people at once on the norm. :) Mandy is a very sweet lady who was informative and helpful. Always smiling and courteous. Lucy Liu who took my blood sample is sweet lady too and greatly understanding of me. She made my visit fast and easy yay hehe. I appreciate them two for the great customer service that made me feel happy and at ease. The rest of the staff here is good too working diligently. I recommend here. Glad this lab exist. DO NOT GO HERE!!! They have new phlebotomist right out of the online classes without any experience! You are the experience!! 5 Difficult Blood Draw Solutions | Montes HealthCare College You must take the tourniquet off after the needle is in the vein and blood flow is established, ideally right as the first tube starts to fill or within one minute, and definitely before you pull the needle out to prevent sample contamination (hemoconcentration) and patient discomfort/bruising, releasing it before final needle removal. Leaving it on too long (over 2 mins) can damage tissues, nerves, and alter test values, causing issues like bruising, pain, nerve damage, or tissue death (ischemia/necrosis) in extreme, prolonged cases. I felt BAD for the older lady that was getting poke over 5times I will report this clinic they need to be healed accountable especially after I told the Asian guy drawing blood why he kept the turn the tourniquet on if the blood flow was already existing!! And had the nerve to tell me I need to drink more water!!! read more

Been there so many times. None of the experiences were worth to get a star. Not to mention about getting bruises from the needle all over my arms. The wait time is also ridiculous. They are very slow for some reasons. I ended up not getting my blood drawn because I can't spent 1.5 to 2 hours just waiting for this. I went to the other location on Hellman street in Monterey Park, it was not better at all. very small waiting room, full of people, no one at the front counter. They close for lunch at 11:30, I arrived around 10:40. There are about 10 people sitting in the waiting room. They probably won't take me anyway. According to the previous review, they close for lunch early as the listed schedule, they will start turning people away at 11. Don't understand why insurance and doctors refer patients to this lab. I tried, blood drawing is such a painful experiences for me physically and mentally with this labs. Not going to do blood drawing this year, skip it. read more

I used to like coming to this location because they had an appointment system. For whatever reason, that went away and the patients are treated like nerds. There's always a long wait... Sometimes over an hour... Ugh! The staff, most of them at least, know what they're doing. The phlebotomists keep changing lately... Every time I go back, there are new faces drawing blood. It almost felt like they're using students under some sort of internship/externship. My family and I come to this location on and off. Most of the times they would have bad experiences. So now they opt to drive to Arcadia location just for better service. The latino lady in front is always super rude. I have seen her yell at patients when they don't understand her. Until one of the other employees steps in to help her translate. She acts like she owns the place. l can understand why she is the way she is working in customer service. But these are old frail people that can barely speak english that don't know what is going on. Today, during lunar new years, there was surprisingly no wait! I was the second customer, and I made a comment to the latino lady saying that I was surprised there is not that many people and she said "yeah to be honest i didn't expect any of you people" Which her word choice was kind of off putting. Why did she say "you people" like she hated our group of people. Keep in mind, that when I come, this location is a majority of Asians. A couple minutes later, another customer comes in and she's checking them in and I notice my name on the other person's urine cup. So I told the lady and she told me "no it shouldn't have your name" and i told her that I wasn't sure but it clearly looked like my name and birthdate and so she checked it out and to her surprise, it was my name. She just told me "yeah that shouldn't have happened" and turned to her coworker and said that she "doesn't know why this printer always prints it twice" Sure. Good excuse. Except if it always prints it twice like you said it does, why didn't she already know to either discard it or put it off to the side. Keep in mind that, there were only two other customers and she already mislabeled something. I can't imagine what it's like when it's busy. How many things are mislabeled when it's busy?! Actually getting my blood drawn was not bad. Although, my parents have told me that some times they would make it hurt more than usual or they would bleed a lot afterwards. I don't get my blood drawn often but the people drawing my blood are usually really nice. If you're reading this, please just take your elderly parents or tell them to go to the Arcadia location. It makes me so upset to think about the verbal abuse that lady is giving to elder patients who don't understand english. read more

Similar to a previous review I read for this location, went in today on lunar new year and it was very slow and I was the 2nd person to sign in. The Hispanic lady at the front desk is extremely rude and impatient to Asian people in general, not just myself but other elderly that were there. It wasn't even busy. Maybe 10 ppl max. Her tone is completely different with the Hispanic customers. I happen to work in hospice care customer service as well so i understand that can be difficult, but in this case she seems like a problem. Needed to get bloodwork done and decided to give this location a shot. When I arrived, there was a line of people standing outside. There are some seats inside, but for some reason they had everyone stay out in the sun. Each patient had to sign in and get a number. The employees here seemed unprofessional. They were very adamant about going in order of the numbers. For one of the numbers they called out, no one was showing up. Instead of moving on to the next number, the employees spent almost ten minutes taking turns screaming the number and the person's name who disappeared. They laughed and thought it was funny, as they wasted our time. So they did this for like ten minutes when they could have been helping out other patients instead. When it was finally my turn to get blood drawn, I was seated in a small room with another patient. The seats were placed so that we faced each other. It was really weird watching each other get blood drawn. I am used to having more privacy for blood tests. To make things worse, their restroom was out of service. So every patient was given a urine sample cup and told to come back with it another time. Spent over an hour at this place just for bloodwork. It should have been no more than thirty minutes. Next time I would stick with another location that is more clean, organized, and professional. read more

This blood drawing station used to be the best Sun Clinical Laboratories out of 10+ other locations before the pandemic and it is still the best one when it comes to painless blood drawing experience, BUT one of the biggest drawback now is that this location has been transformed into a testing site for COVID-19 PCR nasal swab and COVID-19 antibody tests. As a result, the waiting time extended from a typical less than 10-minute wait (pre-COVID) to one-hour wait time (post-COVID) because this location does not have a separate wait line for routine blood draws vs COVID-19 antibody blood draws. [COVID tests]: COVID-19 PCR ($175) and COVID antibody IGM tests ($75) are required for anyone who's planning to fly to China. An additional COVID-19 antibody IGM N-protein ($275 = three tests) is also needed for travelers who received the COVID-19 vaccine in the US within the last 2 months. Most international flights require at least one COVID-19 PCR test. Same-day result will be available at 6 PM (or 8 PM on Saturday) if you come before 12 PM; otherwise afternoon results can be picked up next day after 9 AM. No appointment is needed and please bring your passport. [Check-in]: There are two check-in stations - one for COVID-19 PCR nasal swab (the white tent on the curb) and another one (the white tent closer to the front entrance) for blood draws. My Mom needed to get some lab work done for her annual checkup recently. We came here to Sun Clinical Labs in El Monte to drop off some samples. When we first arrived, there were already some people in front of us. The staff appeared to be scrambling around to get people checked-in and attended to. My Mom and I waited patiently in line. When more people came in, the staff attended to them before us. That didn't seem right to me so I quickly got one of the staff's attention and kindly insisted they help us since we were here first. It was chaos to say the least. Anyway, finally one of the ladies got our paperwork and started processing my Mom's order. Yeah, they were not very organized. The nurse drawing my blood Carmen was fantastic. She was very pleasant and sweet, took great care, and got the vain immediately. I was in and out of the chair in 3 minutes. Note that if you go there for blood work, go straight to the table out front. Most of the people standing outside are waiting to get their number called. This was my first time at Sun Labs. Arriving just before 8am, there was already a line of over 10 people waiting for their numbers to be called. After a roughly 40 minute wait (could have been worse), when it was my turn to go to the counter, I was given two containers - "Pee pee in this one and poop in that one!" - they said. Then I was called into a room bustling with people at three blood-drawing stations. Me: I have very small veins. I am also scared of needles. Nurse (in a grumpy voice): You have small veins. You are scared of needles. POKE or NO POKE?! The nurse was efficient and got the job done fast (unlike other med staff who usually poke around at least 2-3 times to find my veins) but it is no wonder this place has a 3-star rating on Yelp. As all the other Sun Labs locations have a 1 star rating on Yelp, I guess I shouldn't complain. read more

I've been to this location several times to get my blood work done and they're very disorganized. I've been to this location during the day and in the afternoon. There are times where they go off the sign in sheet and there are times where they don't. To be safe, I would sign in on the sign in sheet and then talk to the person at the counter for blood work. The staff are always nice here and work efficiently. The tent outside is for COVID-19 testing, but I've never got tested here so I cannot speak to that. Even though there are always so many people standing outside of the door, in the middle of the parking lot, and sitting inside, I'm usually in and out within 30-45 minutes. I'm a hard stick and the staff have always been good at finding my vein. There was only one time where I believe I got a student and he missed my vein and kept poking holes in my left and right arm before he finally asked someone to help him. It was my first time where they had to go through my hand because of all his failed attempts. Other than that, I prefer this location over the many other Sun Clinical Labs I've been to. They also do your urinalysis where you pee in a cup. I suggest getting your blood work done prior to trying to get your urine sample because there's always a line for the restroom and some people take longer than others in there. They typically have at least two phlebotomists working at once and they're quick. Staff here speak different languages other than English, which I think is very helpful for our community who cannot speak English. I've heard Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese being spoken here. They also have a pretty big lot and I've never had trouble finding parking. read more

Background On Visits: After finding out that there was a sun clinical lab near the house, I've been coming to this location every time I needed blood work to be done. What's also great is that they're open on Saturdays. Location/Parking: Located next to the Social Security Administration building. Decent amount of parking can be found here. The parking spaces are compact so just be careful with other cars around you. Service Offered: The usual blood work that the doc tells you to do to see how your health is. They also provide covid testing. The cost of the test depends on your insurance (normally free), but if it is not covered it'll cost you either $100 (for 2 day results) or $125 for 1 day. Order Of Operations For Blood Work: 1) Sign in on the clipboard 2) Find a seat or wait outside if too crowded 3) Wait for your name to be called and provide insurance card and id. 4) Pee and/or poop in a cup or bag depending on what the blood test the doctor recommends you to do. 5) Wait in the waiting area again and wait for your name to be called to see the Phlebotomist 6) Have the Phlebotomist take your blood and wait for the next steps with your primary doctor. Service/Experience: The staffers are very nice and the wait to see a phlebotomist to take your blood depends on how many people are there. First time visit, after hearing great things about this location compared to the other labs closer to my home. Went last Saturday morning, got there at 7:45am, they open at 8 am and the minute I drove into the parking lot, I was so surprised to see over 40+ people standing in line outside, parking lot was full, so I parked on the street. While in line, a very nice woman (an Angel I call her) also waiting for service had asked if I was there for a blood test, I said yes, she directed me to the sign-in table near the front door entrance. If not for her kindness, I would have been in the front line for a very long time. BTW, the line in front is for Covid Testing. *** If you have never been there before for a blood test, you need to go to the sign in table near the front door; sign-in, take and sign a waiver form, and also take a number, and they will call your number to go inside for processing and blood draw. After about 15-20 minutes standing around outside, I got my number called, and went inside, the whole process including wait time was about roughly 40 minutes, not too bad compared to the other labs, where you may be there for a few hours. I visited this lab and was very dissatisfied with my experience. My number was called during check in and I provided the woman with my forms and ID. I was a cash patient and was told to have a seat while they obtain the pricing. While I waited, the same woman continued to check in many people. Then I saw that 4-5 people that checked in after me were called in to get their blood work done. I continued to wait until she finally called me up to pay. There's no reason it should have taken that long for her to get pricing and collect payment. People that came after me should not have been helped before me. What's the point of handing out numbers if you're not going to help people in order? I spent far more time at this office today than I ever have at any other location. If you care anything about customer service, please consider making some changes to your check in process. Phlebotomist was awesome, hence the 2 stars. read more

I particularly liked the blood drawing experience because of the person who drew my blood. I didn't get her name but she talked with me the entire way and she made sure I was feeling at ease and ensured me that we were almost done. I got referred here by my primary care physician about a year ago and the lady that drew my blood was very sweet and nice (she gets 5 stars). However, when I returned about a week ago to get my blood drawn again, this was not the case. A lady named ROSA was very rude. She made me feel uncomfortable and rushed. When I told her that I don't really like needles, she rolled her eyes and said something under her breath. The front desk lady was nice though. If you do come here, ask for anybody but Rosa. I needed to get blood work done before an upcoming physical and my doctor referred me to the sun clinical labs. I looked on Yelp and found this location so I decided to go around 11AM to go. I fasted the entire time before heading there and this location is next to the 10 Freeway and in the same lot as the social security office. There are two tents: 1 for Covid tests and 2 for blood work. When I arrived, there was no one at the blood work tent but I still signed in, grabbed a number, and completed the form that was on the table. I then went into the building and went up to the receptionist. She gathered my information and gave me a cup for a urine sample. There are signs everywhere and the restroom was for patient only. After the urine sample there is a little window outside where you drop off your samples and then you return to the waiting room to wait for your name to be called. The phlebotomist called for me and pointed me to a chair and asked for which arm I would like for my blood sample to be taken from. The blood sample process took about 5 minutes and everyone was very thorough. The entire process took 15 minutes so I was thoroughly impressed with this process and everyone involved! read more

I read so many bad reviews from the Sun Clinical Laboratories and I got super scared of getting my lab drawn. The last thing I want to have is my arm swollen like a purple due to someone not getting it. However, the case is not like that I came around 9:00AM and I sign myself in including getting a number on the board. The technician came outside to get me and verified my insurance. It took less than 20 minutes to get all my labs drawn. My phlebotomist is attentive to my needs since I am scared of needles. I explain to her that I can drawn someone labs but I can never look when someone does it to me. She talked to me throughout the whole process to make me feel less nervous. Her partner also talk to me explaining how each lab is drawn and what they meant. I feel comfortable and happy knowing I'm in the good hands of professional phlebotomist who shows a positive attitude. The lab result takes 3 to 5 days for it to arrive at the doctor office. I have to come back every year to get my lab drawn and to know my draw lab experience is excellent is such a relief. Called in a day earlier if I needed an appointment. I was informed to just walk-in. It was 8:13am on a Saturday morning that I walked-in, signed up, and gave my insurance and ID card to the receptionist. I was given a urine sample cup. There were 4 people ahead of me. It didn't take long to call my name. The phlebotomist sat me down and found a vein in probably less than 5 seconds! That amazed me because the nurse from my family doctor would have a hard time locating a vein. She'd had to pat my arms, switch and compare arms, etc. Also I've been to several red cross locations and they would have a hard time as well. Looking at my arms, this is probably one of the few times I see a less bruised arm rather than a big one. From walking in and out from this location, 20 minutes! My folks would go to the other M.P. locations and would wait half an hour or so. I've also read some locations charges patients but I didn't have to introduce former presidents on green paper. I spoke to a representative from billing today that was very unprofessional. We received a call yesterday from our primary physician (after the lab had already drawn our blood) informing us that they sent us to the wrong lab because sun lab doesn't take our insurance. We provided our insurance card to sun lab prior to drawing our blood. Sun lab did not tell us that they didn't take our insurance and drew our blood without verifying anything. I called sun lab to inquire if it will be processed and a lady with a heavy accent said "lady! It takes time to process. It was just taken yesterday." She didn't understand the inquiry and rudely talked over me when I'm trying to explain my question. She continued to speak over me and hung up. I was trying to explain to her that the doctor informed us that sun lab doesn't take our insurance and just wanted to let them know and check if it will be processed. I used my HK passport for registration to the Lab and my destination of course is Hong Kong. It is absolutely their fault ! The Lab manger refused my request to redo without any charges !
