Recently moved to this area and wanted to try some of the local after hours spots. I stopped in here and was pleasantly surprised. It did take quite some time for my food to come out however, they were busy due to it being first Friday. The sliders were cooked to perfection. The steak had a nice crispy char on the outside and perfectly medium on the inside. The brioche bun was slightly toasted and warm. The fries were very good, nothing fancy but, very good! I haven't had a bad glass of Rosé in my life and this time, it again, went down exceptionally well! I definitely will visit this spot again. read more

Being in Lockhart every weekend we are stuck frequenting the same places due to the limited amount of places that actually serve alcohol that isn't just beer and wine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every place except for this one closes around 9pm or before on Sunday nights and thank God I found this one open later because this place knocked our socks off![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is our new go to place as the ambience is so unique and low key. It's underground with dim lighting and amazing music choices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner is super cool and kind. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place just has a really great vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was AMAZING. The drinks were perfect! We were impressed with absolutely everything. First, even though it was still terribly humid and hot outside when we walked downstairs and entered the restaurant, it was cool and crisp! Such a welcoming thing when you live in the armpit of hell. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. I've said it before but I'll say it again. It's such an easy thing for staff to do that makes the guests feel welcome even if you can't help them right away. Acknowledge they've come in! They did just that and seated us very quickly. We got there just before the rush which is usually how we roll. We ordered so many things. The bang bang calamari, the rotato and the ceviche. The calamari was perfect sizes and the crunch was real. The bang bang sauce did the job as bang bang sauces usually do. This one was tangier than most which I loved. Wasn't leaning on the mayo too heavily. The rotato is the always delicious spiraled and fried potatoes. You can't go wrong there. But the ceviche was the star of the show for me. Mango, cucumber, coconut milk, hamachi - I could eat it every meal and not get tired of it. We got so many starters that I was basically full so we shared the steak and potatoes. I rarely buy steak out because we make really good ones at home but I really enjoyed this one. Perfectly cooked. Seasoned with care and the potatoes were the perfect coupling. We visited this restaurant today/Sunday late afternoon. It was really fun. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is unique as it is in a cellar of a really old building. It's shadowy & mysterious with cool old architecture, spooky taxidermied critters, dried eucalyptus in bundles hanging from the ceiling & twinkling chandeliers & neon decorative lights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant, bar & bathrooms were all clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was prompt & the server was polite & friendly. I had the spinach side salad with the salmon & my date had the Caesar side salad with the pork chops. All of the food was fresh & excellent. I was so glad we stopped in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was such an adventure to go to this unique, quite magical hideaway in a world of predictable chain restaurants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wish there were more places like this. So, I was one of their first customers under new management. They were extremely friendly, my daughter and I are vegan, I was having a hard time with the menu, the chef came from the back and asked about accommodations. Are you looking to get in a little trouble at Little Trouble? This underground bar/restaurant with a speakeasy vibe won me over in Lockhart. I visited for a week and this was one of my favorite spots. It's easy to spot as there's a neon sign that says Little Trouble with red Christmas lights adorning a railing in downtown Lockhart. I stopped by on Valentine's Day for dinner. Unfortunately, all they were serving was a price fixe menu and we didn't love it so we only stayed for drinks. There regular menu looked appetizing so I'm bummed I didn't have a meal there. Instead, I took advantage of their interesting craft cocktail menu and my cocktail was as good as advertised. The ambiance here is fantastic and makes for a great date spot. To go with the theme, they have some pics of classic Playboy bunnies. All in all, a really cool spot. Went into the restraunt with my husband with high hopes in trying this place, was seated and greeted with water and then sat there for a good 10/15 minutes with no service. A Diamond Under the Streetside Rough  Smaller towns like Lockhart are not known for dimly lit intimate lounges or restaurants; instead, they scream beer joints and barbeque or burritos.  BUT... we stumbled upon a diamond (under) the rough when we ventured into 'Little Trouble' as we were bar-hopping trying to discover new places. We've now been two times and there will be a third.  This last time we met the new owner - Jayden.  She and her husband, Granger, took the plunge and recently purchased this quaint, underground speak-easy style establishment.   Taken aback by her openness & honesty, Jayden has some serious plans for her new endeavor and we're all on board to watch them materialize.  We're rooting for you Jayden.  So why does this little underground lounge have such appeal?  [[HIGHLIGHT]]For starters, it's underground.  That alone got my interest.  Cool in the hot Texas climate and dark as in its sexy & slightly sinister appeal[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].  [[HIGHLIGHT]]The piped in lighter classic rock music at a pleasant level made for a comfortable background ambience and easy conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]  It is a bar or lounge or whatever naming convention you choose and thus the beverages have to be high on the list of patron questions.  We tried several of their 'signature' craft cocktails and all were right up there with the best... especially the well-seasoned bartender's rendition of the classic 'Old Fashioned'.  This one had a distinct orange essence that I swore had to be Grand Marnier, yet was told it was without.    Wine selection seems to be lacking at present but we were assured a new wine experience is in the planning stages.  Food menu is small but covers a nice selection of well-varied options.  We tried the 'Bob's Burger' and the 'Hoison Honey Salmon'.  Both superb and items we would definitely order again.  [[HIGHLIGHT]]As an end note... we love their rest rooms!  Two His/Her/Their private restrooms with an open area wash area for all.  Different... and nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].    Summary:  'Little Trouble' is definitely worth your exploration when venturing out in Lockhart.  It's dimly lit, cozy atmosphere combined with superb craft cocktails, solidly decent food menu and a new owner with many visions for what it will become should fare as well with you as it did - and does - with us.  Look for the red brick wall with the black railing and stairs going down. NOTE: We hear an upstairs, outdoor stage area is coming for live entertainment and a grand opening weekend event is being planned for the weekend of November 16, 2024.  We'll see you there Jayden. read more

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE TROUBLE... we arrived for a celebration with reservations @6, there were 6 people at the bar... we waited patiently for the red head who was in deep conversation with guest seated at the bar to finish and come greet us, whew! She seated us took our drink order proceeded to get our server and headed to the bar , she grabbed our glasses to make our dr I nks and held them and cont her convo with bar guest glasses in hand for at least 10 min . We got our waters looked over the menu and ordered our starters, we were the only guest at tables to dine and waited 20 min for drinks, one drink was spilled from bumping into the other server and had to be remade. Drinks were good , starters to follow also good , we had party bread and mushrooms fried. Then came the entrée burger with buns charred black and my pasta with prawns also chared black! We asked foe new buns and a pasta instead of remaking prawns. We needed another cocktail but was never checked on or asked, finally got servers attention and asked what gins you had she didn't know, must be new, also didn't know about what the wines for the eve special and went to ask. We ordered a desert and then told it wasn't available, we were the first guest ordering food so not sure why they offered then said they didn't have it but put it on the bill anyway and had to have it taken off. The good... the cocktails made by the young lady with short blonde hair blue highlights. The bad ..... the price of the food that was burnt with the exception of the food fried, is the cook a fry cook? The ugly.... the red head didn't give a crap about anything but her conversation with the people at the bar who were not even ordering food! this was a painful 50 dollars a head meal to celebrate my son's new home in lockart, we have been to little trouble many times and never had a bad experience like tonight. What a hidden gem. Casey and Dodds make you feel at home the second you walk in. The atmosphere is eclectic-ish that just fits the 100 year old basement. Then the drinks and food make the experience complete. I got so excited about all of the sensory stuff going on that I totally forgot to take pictures but honestly, the food looks just like the media photos. We had custom bar drinks and a local brewery beer to start. Appetizers were the TX Tartar and Fried Cheese. Amazing mixes of seasonings, cheese and meet in the tartar. The fried cheese was an exciting taste burst when you bit into it. Main Courses were the Grilled Ribeye and Al Pastor Fish. Perfectly cooked to the correct temperature, the ribeye is amazing. Now I would never order trout from a restaurant. Too many times, trout is ruined by the freezing/thawing process. This was the chef's suggestion so we went with it. I don't know how he did it but Casey prepared that trout like it was fresh caught that morning. Then the explosion when you bit into it. Sauces, garnishes & seasonings in perfect harmony. So I have been nagging the wife for us to go try this place. This week she finally agreed. We had the pot stickers which were outstandingly fabulous, the mushroom empanadas which sound weird but were probably the best thing we ate! The chipotle sauce that came with it was the best! I wana gallon of that stuff. And we had the steak frites. This was outstanding as well. I absolutely loved this place, it's small, and has a secret feel to it. A coworker was concerned of this place because of the decor, but it's not at all like they thought. They were concerned about someone sacrificing a lamb in the middle of the place, but actually going inside it's pretty inviting. The picture online highlight a lot of the decorations they do have, but it's only like 3 stuffed animals hidden in the walls. Dodds took care of us and she was extremely nice and made us feel welcome. The food was amazing! For a very reasonable price. The menu is small enough to try everything on it.
