Ordered a couple of different breakfast with lots of items so we could try them all. Standouts were the pancakes. They just need real Maple syrup and they would be fantastic! (Hint- I'll pay extra for real maple syrup). Grits were very good. Sausage and home fried potato's were good. Scrambled Eggs were ok, a bit overdone for me. She like the country style ham. Henry's is a great place to dine in Lockhart Tx if you want something besides BBQ. The wait staff was incredibly fast and very attentive. The restaurant is very clean and can probably seat 50-60 patrons with a lot of room between tables. It's located in the historic district in downtown in an old brick building with 100+ year old hardwood floors. My wife and I both had the Chicken fried steak with the fresh homemade sides and it was wonderful. We never eat dessert but had to try the "funnel fries", they are simply funnel cake shaped like French fries covered with powdered sugar. Amazing light dessert after a generous amount of food served for our meal. The price for our lunch and dessert was just about the same you would pay for fast food nowadays which is amazing considering the quality and quantity of the food served. Henrys is a Bit of a drive from Manor, but we just picked up a brand new ride which calls for a road trip....last round we were coming up from the coast and stopped for lunch and we pleasantly surprised....So breakfast this round was just as good...The service was near perfect...and love the old school vibe from Henrys...lots of locals eat here. Wife went Way off here beaten path with the meat lover plate...she was after the ham steak for sure....all was delicious....I went with the Migas...also amazing...taters were screaming hot and So good....Nice drive and great food...a win in our book. read more

Henry's is a great little diner in town that offers a variety of dishes for everyone. We have dined in for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and have always had the best service. Their lunch/dinner menu is good, nothing extraordinary that you absolutely must return for again. However, their breakfast is pretty darn tasty if ya ask me. It can get noisy inside when they are busy, and at times you may have a small wait to be seated. Depending on the day of week and time you go. I've said it before, and I'll say it again--I love Henry's burgers. Seriously, they are some of the best I've ever had. But today, we're switching gears. In this update, we're talking about a few other things on the menu: their chicken fried steak, fried mushrooms, and the Mexican Platter. Buckle up, it's a mixed bag! I want to start here: the servers are the sweetest and they are HUSTLING their way through the day, doing their very best to make sure the guests are happy, bellies and drinks are full and things move along. Kudos to each of them! First, let's start with the good stuff. The chicken fried steak is absolutely no joke. The batter? Chef's kiss. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and flavorful without overwhelming the tender, juicy meat inside. I went with the green beans and mashed potatoes as my sides. Now, full disclosure--the green beans tasted like they were frozen, not fresh, which wasn't my fave. But, honestly, that's forgivable when everything else on the plate is so on point. The mashed potatoes were exactly what you'd expect--smooth, creamy, and paired with that glorious Southern cream gravy. I added a dash of salt and pepper to make it my own, and let me tell you, it was a plate of pure comfort. The steak? Tender, flavorful, and a total win. YUM! Next up, the fried mushrooms. I'm leaning towards them being fresh because they were that good. The batter (which seemed to be the same magical blend from the chicken fried steak) was crisp, light, and packed with flavor. Every bite was a crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside delight. Now, here's where things took a turn--the Mexican Platter. (sigh) Sad face incoming. The enchiladas arrived cold--so cold, the cheese wasn't even melted inside the enchilada. The rice was barely warm, the beans weren't much better, and the taco meat? Zero flavor. It was a disappointing experience, but to their credit, the manager handled it well. They refunded the platter and only charged us for a chalupa, which was a fair and appreciated move. So, will I be back at Henry's? Absolutely! This place has too many winning dishes to stay away. But now we know--stick to the classics, like the burgers and that amazing chicken fried steak, and maybe steer clear of the Mexican food. :). Next in line? Get there for breakfast and try that amazing looking breakfast menu! :) I'm still giving the place 5 stars - the one platter out of all of our visits here with nothing but excellent experiences doesn't warrant a 4 star as far as I'm concerned. read more

Our issue was not at all with the food that we received. It was good but the staff/service was a hot mess at this restaurant. We seated ourselves, it took a few minutes to get a menu brought, and then we were asked what we wanted to drink. This was our first time here and we had two kids with us. The menu is extensive, we were offered both a breakfast menu and a lunch food menu so it took us a bit to go through it. The waitress came back pretty quick and asked if we were ready to order. No, we hadn't gotten a chance to look at everything.....(we had to read the kids all of their options) then she disappeared. We waited and waited. There were five or six people standing behind the counter just chatting. Then I realized our waitress was having an issue with the table next to us. They were not happy with their food and something was going on. She was very distracted and had just forgotten about us. Finally another girl came, after we were looking around for SOMEONE and she took our order even though we weren't her table. She attempted to serve us, we were not on her table radar so we had long waits between her visits. It was just a relief to get out of there. I heard about Henry's from a friend at work and after the high praises, we decided to take the drive to get out of our home town for something new. The curb appeal is cute, right off the Main Street in Lockhart. When we walked in we were greeted even in the peak time of Friday dinner rush. We were able to seat ourselves which fit our needs with two children. Henry's serves breakfast all day! Down home country cooking; I ordered the breakfast platter with potatoes and bacon, my husband ordered the Guacamole Queso Burger, said it was delicious but spicy. My mom got a salad and baked potato and my brother ordered the French Toast Plate and breakfast tacos to go. My brother said the food was a home run! Light Fluffy Buttermilk biscuits, clearly made from scratch! Bacon was thick and perfectly cooked, home fries and eggs were perfectly cooked the only way, I enjoy them. I took a bite of the biscuits and gravy and about jumped out of my chair, it was sooo good!!!! Gravy made from scratch using sausage drippings and tons of sausage! TV's breakfast looked good, (I didn't ask for a bite, I was too busy eating like I had a slit throat!). He demolished his meal (I ain't lying, I demolished mine too!) There's no down home anything, the biscuits are frozen, the gravy canned, chicken fried steak frozen, coffee drinkable, sodas so watered down that it doesn't have any taste, the only thing that I can say about the breakfast is that the bacon was finally thick enough and tasted like bacon, so out of 6 almost 2 ain't bad!!! read more

The food is great. Like, REALLY great. But here's one suggestion. The ice maker rattles so loud you can't have a conversation even if you're sitting on the other end of the restaurant. Another group of people came in and sat down by us and had to lean in to talk to each other. They made a comment about the noise and decided to leave. Fried Fish sandwich plate with salad substitute as side was excellent. The waitress (Kristian?) was really attentive and provided extra napkins & dressing and refills on drink. She smiled alot and made me feel at home. I felt like I was in a Time Capsule and I didn't want to leave! There were so many regular folks that were all about "locals" ... I remembered the movie Fried Green Tomatoes! The acoustics make everyone's movements on the wooden floor clash with their conversations. The hubs and I went to Lockhart to meet a friend for lunch at Henry's. It's a cute little country restaurant that serves breakfast all day and lunch after 11am. I ordered the mushroom bacon Swiss cheeseburger. They got the order wrong and fixed it....sorta. :-\ Other than that, it tasted pretty good. My husband and our friend said their meals were good too. I took a trip to Lockhart for a week. Right before heading back to Houston, I grabbed some takeout from Henry's Restaurant. Located in downtown Lockhart, Henry's has your everyday diner vibe and American fare. I went with the grilled pork chops which comes with two sides. For my sides, I selected the mashed potatoes (with brown gravy) and tater tots. Two sides of potatoes...that's right! The waitress taking my order was a looker so that didn't hurt. While the pork chops weren't huge, you get two of them, and the sides were solid. The brown gravy was nice rather than your typical white gravy. All in all, nothing to write home about but they have a large menu so I would check it out again if I lived in the area. read more

First opportunity to eat at Henry's since arriving in Lockhart. I arrived last night so yes I didn't waste time. The restaurant has a great small town ambiance. The hardwood floors and brick walls are perfect. Every time we've been here the staff is super friendly and engaging. Now, more importantly, the food is delicious. I'm a Breakfast food person and Henry's gets a 5-Star on breakfast. Every thing else I've ever had has been tasty. My wife enjoyed her chicken wrap today. She said the "chicken is well seasoned and sliced nicely." The fries are crispy! My son had two...yes two...helpings of lasagna. Very unassuming little diner in Lockhart with what might be my favorite cream gravy since Hit The Spot (at the Garfield Library) closed near Cedar Creek! Had chicken fried steak and eggs for dinner. Delicious and hearty!! Eggs were slightly overcooked (nearly over-hard though I asked for over-easy) but I blame it on myself for ordering breakfast when the breakfast cooks had gone home. Let me start out saying we were pleasantly surprised by the food and size of the portions. We split the fish and shrimp platter. For our sides we got the fries and a "cup" of the enchilada soup for an up charge. It was definitely worth it. There were three large planks of fish with 3 large butterfly shrimp. Definitely enough to share. They even split it on two plates - nice! Hubby ordered a piece of the cheesecake and it was good, $2.99 - great deal! The only down side was it didn't seem real clean in here. Cute enough place, just seems it needs a good cleaning. It's funny, I'll eat in nasty BBQ places but when it comes to any other food I want the place spic and span clean. read more

Great menu and (my favorite) they serve breakfast all day! I have been trying different things on each visit and today I had the Chicken "Burger" which is basically a grilled chicken sandwich on a wheat bun. The chicken size is very generous and was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Condiments are fresh and it comes with yummy seasoned fries. It's a very popular place to eat, but they have plenty of friendly and efficient wait staff to serve you. they are known for their delicious burgers and chicken fried steak.
