    Popovers, arancini

Had a wonderful dinner here, we have been to Foreign and Domestic in ATX and were thrilled to hear about Commerce Café which is closer to home. Server was so sweet and made sure to keep drinks filled even when the kitchen got backed up with a full full restaurant. The popovers with onion butter are always a must-have and we really enjoyed both the pasta and the steak.

    Chicken fried steak

What an ELITE chicken fried steak. The fried pork chop sandwich was fantastic and the popovers were divine. Great service and friendly staff.

I would rate this place more than five stars if I could. The reviews alone were the reason I even stepped foot into this place. And let me tell you, if you decide to try it too, you won't regret it. The chef's know what they're doing and the servers were lovely. It's generally quiet during the week, not too noisy. The tomato soup is nice and flavorful and the Caesar salad is crisp, tangy, and creamy. The pork chop sandwich is TO DIE FOR. I was nervous at first since I thought it would be overcooked like most pork chops are but this... this sandwich was a masterpiece. It's juicy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside. Served in deliciously crispy and soft bread, stone ground mustard, melted cheese, and mixed greens... I'm still thinking about this place. Not to mention the fresh cut fries! Seriously, if there's one place to try in Lockhart that isn't BBQ? It's Commerce Cafe.

Another hidden gem in Lockhart TX. The service was excellent and the food was good as well. I tried the blueberry coriander pie. I like the flavor of the filling. The crust was a bit chewy to me. The burger I had was very good, I also liked how seasoned the fries were. The falafel sandwich was decent. It didn't wow me but a very good choice nevertheless. The have a very try clean and inviting restaurant. It really gives you that hometown cafe feeling. Check them out!!

    Salad with added chicken

This place has the best food in Lockhart, if you go make sure you get some duck fat potatoes. They are amazingly crunchy omg they are so good. The chicken breast is so juicy you can add if to most anything. The breakfast sandwich has 2 eggs on it and yoke everywhere so use a fork If you like Italian style Wednesday they have many selections and they make all their own pasta that's awesome. The wait staff are awesome Anna and Zion are the best

Stopped by here on a work trip and was pleasantly amazed! The staff was awesome and attentive. The restaurant is right on the square in front of the courthouse and is so cozy inside. There are not many items on the menu but that's ok because they execute those items very well! I had the chicken fried steak that was accompanied by green beans and smashed potatoes! Everything was amazing! I'm not a gravy person but even that had a wonderful taste and texture. Will definitely visit again. Our wonderful waiter told us about the numerous dinner specials and drinks for our next visit!

An upscale diner in Lockhart with the lively buzz of patrons and staff filling the air. The vibe is super welcoming, and the open-concept kitchen lets you watch the team in action. The staff is hustling, making sure everyone's taken care of, and the bartenders are totally engaged with their guests, adding to the overall great energy. We ordered the yeast rolls as an appetizer (it's yeast rolls, you can't just give those to folks?). At $5 for two, that was a bit of a "wait, what?!". They're not exactly a difficult or expensive item to make, so that price stood out. The roasted chicken was super tender, perfectly seasoned on the outside, but the seasoning didn't make it through the meat, so that's an aspect that should be addressed (the flavor on the outside was perfection, though!). The molasses carrots were just right--cooked perfectly and not too sweet. Mashed potatoes? Spot on! As for the chicken fried steak, we went with mashed potatoes instead of the usual duck fat crispy potatoes that come with it. The chicken fried steak was good. We had the blueberry lemon chess pie for dessert and I couldn't eat it. The compote on top was so sweet, it took away from the pie itself. The crust wasn't very good - too thick and not cooked all the way through. I'm not one to leave desserts uneaten, but I didn't love it. All in all, this is a great addition to Lockhart and sometime different from the usual Lockhart spots. We will definitely be back and I look forward to trying more.

I found this spot on Yelp and was super pleased with the service, the selection, the strong WiFi, the decor, and the overall vibes here that was super welcoming. Parking was easy off the street and there was plenty of other storefronts to wander & window shop as I made my way to Tillie's. This whole area is great so anywhere you park is going to be close. For my coffee I really enjoyed the iced Golden Ticket coffee I got that included a caramel and a hazelnut flavor with a nice house made cream added to the top. It was so tasty! For food it was hard to choose. Everything from "brekkie", or breakfast, to lunch looked so good as listed on their menu. I ended up with one of their "Handhelds" of the Besto Pesto that included sliced turkey, homemade pesto (nut-free too!), mayo, and some delicious house made pickles. This sando came with a side of house made chips as well and was the portion for my lunch. Since I was driving back to Austin (an hour+ away) I decided to get through all of what was on my plate and not take any leftovers home but I could've!!! I really loved their decor and the long large and beautiful wooden community table they had near the back of the cafe. I saw a whole group of women (more than 6 of them!) gathered around, chatting, and having tea. I assumed they were locals because like them, I would be hanging out here all day with my laptop and/or friends all day if I could. Highly recommend coming in and checking out what you can find to have while here. From coffees, breakfast, lunch, and even refreshing tasty sparkling drinks you will find something you want to have and probably keep coming back for in the future. When I am in the area again, this will definitely be part of my plans in stopping into and eating at again.
