Another hidden gem discovered! ** Make sure before you go you call and check if they are open. They do close for events. Hours are Wednesday -Saturday 11am-3pm.** I'm going to be gaining a lot of weight with this place being so close to home. My husband got the chicken fried steak with Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, and cornbread. I had the shrimp Po'boy with fries and a side of friend okra. For dessert we had banana pudding. Let me break down the meals..... Heaven! All of it! It was the most delicious home-style meal. I can't wait to go back. My mouth is watering just typing this.

I saw the great pictures of food and we had to try it. And oh my, the best hamburgers ever with hand cut fries! Hard to choose though because they have the best home cooking menu I've ever seen. Worth the drive !! Open till 7 pm. Very cute atmosphere and we took home a bunch of goodies too.

Took a mini vaca with my sister & our airbnb host suggested this place for Southern food. We were not disappointed! The catfish was perfectly breaded & fried, (w/ yummy homemade tartar), potatoes & gravy scrumptious, & green beans on point! This is a quirky little spot. The outside looks a bit shabby but the inside is homey. They even have a car inspection place connected. Who'd a thunk up such a combo? The only drawback is they have no menus & don't post prices on the board. This place won't break the bank though.. Y'all come! ;)

You those little family run spots you always hope to run into on a road trip well this is one of em. You walk in and literally every single employee will greet and smile at you like you're their best friend. I ate here and there are four tables of locals just having a conversation with each other enticing everyone to join in and raving about the food. Which was great true home cooking and absolute 5 star service. If you drive by this place or can make your way to it you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I stopped in at this quaint little restaurant and were really blown away by the food and the warm, friendly owners! We both had a lunch special, I had the Shrimp Creole and he had the Chicken and Dumplings, wow!! They were both delicious, packed with loads of shrimp and chicken respectively, perfectly seasoned, very authentic, real down home cooking! I truly wish we had had room for desert, I'm certain it would have been scrumptious! We will definitely be back the next time we head to Bastrop, what a gem of a find!! Thank you Yvette and Hubby and precious little Melody, so nice meeting you all!

It was one of the first restaurants I tried after moving to Austin, and I later returned to celebrate my birthday. Every meal I've had here has been excellent. When I heard about their Thursday chicken basket special, which is available to walk-ins only, I was excited to experience Olamaie in a more casual setting. As always, the service was spectacular, and the chicken and biscuits were delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly with consistently crispy skin. It did lean a little salty, but the biscuits and honey butter balanced it out beautifully. I also always order the Soup du Jour cocktail during happy hour. It's consistently sweet, refreshing, and fun to try. Overall, Olamaie remains one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. Whether you're visiting for a special occasion or stopping by for the Thursday chicken basket, it's absolutely worth the visit.

The restaurant is housed in a charming home with a front porch/patio that gives it a cozy feel. There's also a small bar where you can grab a drink while waiting for your table, which was a nice touch. For the tasting menu, I had the deviled egg to start, followed by the hamachi, then the chicken entrée, and finished with a red velvet brownie for dessert. I dug right in and forgot to take a picture of the dessert! The biscuits were the star of the show. Every course was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The service was one of the highlights of the evening. Each dish was brought out with an explanation of the ingredients and preparation, making the experience feel personal and elevated. The staff were knowledgeable and genuinely enjoyable to interact with. Olamaie is definitely on the pricey side, but for the quality of the food and the service, I think it's worth the splurge.

We somehow snagged nearby street parking and a table for two with no wait despite it being a busy Saturday evening after a UT football game. Make a reservation if you have a large party or are on a tighter schedule. It's a bit loud for those seated in the lobby/entrance area, but totes a vibe. For food, we ordered the blackened catfish, brisket burnt ends quesadillas, and harvest bowl to share. Everything was delicious and served quickly, even with the aforementioned dinner rush. 10/10 would order the same items again. I was so appreciative of the server splitting the entree over two plates without us asking. Did I mention the complimentary popcorn and cornbread? Twas a FEAST. I'm already thinking about the next time we're going back! If not for Moonshine, definitely for the speakeasy downstairs.

We arrived and in a few minutes we were seated at a table and immediately given water in mason jars and asked for our drink order. I opted just got an Arnold Palmer but the drink menu had some cute cocktails and mocktails, as well as a nice selection of beer and wine. Instead of bread, our server brought us a basket of seasoned popcorn. The popcorn had almost like a Cajun flair, but it wasn't spicy. It reminded me of the Ground Round chain from when I was a little girl. We decided to try the corndog shrimp appetizer. I couldn't decide on an entree because everything looked so good, so I did the Parmesan chicken and my coworker did the steak salad. The shrimp arrived so quickly with four large pieces of shrimp on a stick wrapped in corn dog batter and fried to a golden brown, with a blueberry mustard dipping sauce. The shrimp were delicious and while I didn't get much of the blueberry in the mustard, I enjoyed the sweetness it provided. My Parmesan chicken was a crispy and juicy breaded chicken cutlet with a lemon cream, artichoke hearts, and what appeared to be prosciutto on top. It was served with a side of pesto couscous with grape tomatoes and cucumbers. I wish I had ordered mashed potatoes on the side, because I wanted something to soak up the lemon cream sauce, which was the highlight of the chicken. We also were served 3 mini cornbread muffins with honey butter. My coworker said the salad was just okay, and was a little on the small side. The desserts were definitely a MUST and if you visit Moonshine and don't save room for the Espresso Brownie or the Peanut Butter Pie, you're going to regret it. The brownie was so fudgey and warm and served with ice cream. It was decadent. The peanut butter pie was the biggest slab of PB pie I've ever had with a thick Oreo crust. I wish I had someone with me to share it, it was huge. Overall, if I lived in the area I would definitely be back to try other things.

We finally got silverware and napkins but needed yet another set because there was food still on my fork. Finally tried the queso and the chips were horrible. My friend thought they were left out from the night before, i said the humidity just killed them as for being seasoned as the menu says, they were not. The menu looked great so I was excited when we ordered our entrees. An Eggs Benedict, 2 Megs Pecan Chicken Salad, The Islander and a Grilled Turkey and Tomato. The chicken salad was not chilled, not sure if it had been sitting out for a while, but the mayo was translucent. Overall, not much flavor, on a bed of greens that were difficult to eat because they were so big. There was also ketchup on the edge of my salad bowl.
