If you can, order early and ahead. The man will take his time preparing your order and you will not say a word, until your order is ready. When he calls you to the window, every sense should begin to tingle because your about to devour a unique plate of food. I decided on the chicken strips and fries. Sounds pretty simple, right? Yeah, except for one thing... these chicken strips are PERFECT! The crunch of the breading, the moist "tender" white chicken meat melt into the perfectly spiced crust and there you will sit wondering, how? How? How does he do it??? Well there's no use pondering that question. It doesn't matter after you take another bite. Nothing. Not even the great fries.

On our first trip I was so amazed with the food I forgot to post a review. I had oxtails, yams, and mac & cheese. Oxtails were on a bed of rice with a very tasty gravy. Yams were on point. The Mac & cheese was good, however black pepper taste forward. Portions were big so I was able to have the oxtail for lunch the following day. Today I went with fried chicken wings, yams, and red beans. Another great dinner! If you're out in Manor stop by and chat with Fred Nunn. He's hilarious and a wonderful soul food chef,

This place operates on a tab-based system, so no need to wait for a check, since the tab is opened for you before you're seated. This worked very smoothly! This would be a great place for a date or anything requiring an aesthetically pleasing ambiance, the wood lining and ceiling along with the blackboard menu give this place a great vibe.

Everything is counter service so you'll order your entire meal at the counter along with drinks, the cashier will give you a number and the service staff will bring your items to your table. My friend and I ordered several different items on the menu to try out, we got the etouffee, red beans and rice, and a mushroom salad. My favorite out of those items was the mushroom salad with vinagarette dressing, who doesn't love mushrooms and some greens! The etouffee was rich and savory with what i believe was their rotating protein of the week. Can't really go wrong with red beans and rice, these are like an upgraded popeyes version. To end the meal we tried their beignets which weren't stellar but reminded me more of a fried donut with some powdered sugar sprinkled on top. I'd come back but maybe not get so much food since we both definitely left stuffed!

The restaurant have a deck for outdoor shaded tables/seats. If you are not in the mood for the outside, there is plenty of tables and seats inside the restaurant. Staff is friendly and food is amazing! You can conveniently order and pay directly on their website for take out and delivery. After ordering from the website you will get a text to your mobile phone letting you know when your food will be ready. Super easy and convenient! Pick up was a breeze with going in and out. As for the food......this place is definitely a MUST TRY and have the BEST FRIED CHICKEN I've ever had. First time trying Jackson Soul and I ordered 3 piece fried chicken with Mac and cheese and collard greens, chicken fried steak, and 8 piece garlic Parmesan wings with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy. The fried chicken is super crispy on the outside and super moist juicy in the inside! The chicken batter was seasoned so well with spices that one bite makes your palate buzzzzzzzz with a well balanced flavor! So unique and special! I didn't know fried chicken could ever taste so damn good! The mash potatoes and homemade gravy was well seasoned cream and delicious! Chicken fried steak was meaty and the perfect amount of steak to batter! The outside of the steak was crispy and the steak was moist. I will definitely order the fried chicken and chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy again! The garlic Parmesan wings had good flavor with a little heat from the dried chili flakes but it was not crispy and was a bit oily from the butter sauce. My family enjoyed the wings but I preferred the fried chicken . Will I be coming back? Heck yes! Jackson Soul restaurant is little soulful gem treasure in Elgin, TX! I will definitely be coming back and trying out their other items and lunch/day specials. Food, quality, proportion size, and price is great! Food is made with love and it shows in the food! 5 stars all the way!! No

From the moment we walked in, the hostess gave us a warm welcome, and we were seated right away. It took our server a little while to get to our table, but she arrived with waters in hand, which was appreciated. We started with the fried green tomatoes. They were good, though I've definitely had better back home in Houston. For my entrée, I ordered the Badass Bacon Plate, and it absolutely hit the spot. Everything on the plate was delicious, from the thick-cut slab of bacon to the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. I especially appreciated that the eggs were seasoned before cooking, something I don't often see at restaurants, and it really made a difference. The hash brown casserole was also fantastic and tied the whole meal together. My brother ordered the fried chicken biscuit and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Although our server was clearly very busy, the restaurant had a great team approach. Other staff members checked on us, refilled drinks, and made sure we had everything we needed, so we never felt neglected. Overall, it was a great dining experience with delicious food, friendly hospitality, and excellent teamwork. I would definitely recommend Phoebe's Diner if you're looking for a satisfying breakfast or brunch in Austin.
