Service was fantastic and the person who helped us took the time to walk us through flavor options, including gluten free ones. More people came in and I did not want to hold their line up so I said very clearly I didn't know what was going on but I'm not getting service right now and asked for one moment. After stepping aside another employee approached the two VERY young children and told them something I couldn't hear. I directly asked her what she just said to them and she responded by asking me if they were with me (they're white and I'm not), then said she was telling them my payment didn't go through. This was an interesting question because there were very few customers in the store when we walked in and we were the only ones at the register just moments ago. As I'm still on my phone, telling this new employee I just explained the situation to whoever was at the register, I hear her explaining to everyone in line that they can't take any orders because they're still waiting for me to pay. Money was never the problem, and it's unfortunate the things I intentionally wear when coming to U village, to avoid being judged by businesses like this, couldn't assure you that. Spring Fling (Matcha) - oat milk base by default for all matcha which is great because it really is the perfect blend. The Spring Fling is specifically an earl grey matcha which was super interesting! I believe the vanilla and orange do help balance the flavors, but the key flavors are earl grey and matcha. Each sip starts with a smooth, grassy undertone and ends in a sweet, floral tea taste. The stark contrast is uniquely inviting yet shocking to the taste buds, feeling like a 2 for 1 as a drink. Well this time I didn't visit on purpose, instead walking into the M2M just to check out the grocery store scene on Capitol Hill and only finding out about the TLJ after seeing it right past the entrance. And of course, I found a couple of items I had never seen before and couldn't resist purchasing them... Mont Blanc Pastry ($6.50) - Largest roll-croissant-like pastry I have seen, easily spanning over 6 inches in diameter. Very reasonably priced too. The pastry itself is very interesting. It doesn't have a lot of layers inside (e.g. not as laminated as a typical croissant), but the layers separate pretty easily from the rolls at the top. The top is very slightly brushed with sugar, but is definitely not too sweet. The bottom is baked well, giving a very caramelized, toasty, buttery flavor. The interior is light and delightfully chewy. There isn't too much of a flaky crust anywhere, but this pastry is surprisingly nice. (4/5) Pecan Croissant Flattie ($4.25) - Huh, very interesting. It actually does taste like a croissant, with a super caramelized buttery flavor. It also has layers, although compressed into a very flat shape. They bake the pastry until it's almost like a delicately crunchy cookie, then douse in a sugar solution. They add plenty of pecans on top that are cemented into the sugar before cooling. While it's sweet, it's not cloyingly, so it's nice to eat. (4/5) I'm used to TLJ being very expensive in LCOL metros. For Seattle, the pastries are actually very reasonably priced, and while not the highest in quality, could be worth it to save a couple of bucks vs. the competition.

Their Roll cake is very light, to a point that you'd almost question if you actually ate anything (don't worry, the cream inside will quickly remind you).
