Somehow we had missed this place, but finally DLW and I rectified that with a Saturday lunch trip. It's tucked into a corner of a much larger apartment building next to the Market of Choice on Franklin, with seating for about 40. We were early for lunch, so the counter guy, whom I can only assume was also the manager, was alone with his adorable little boy. Business picked up steadily as we ate, and it seems they aren't hurting for business. We each had a burger and split an order of fries. We liked the size of the burgers, and that they are nice and thick, allowing them to cook more easily to medium. Any place that will cook your burger to temperature gets a cheer from us. Lettuce, onion and pickle are standard toppings, and they substitute their house ketchup for tomatoes, which I think is a good move, since fast food tomatoes are generally unrecognizable as such. The cook was just right, and the flavor was very good, especially for a burger under $4. DLW opted for bleu cheese, and I had chevre, both of which were more than satisfactory. Fries come with truffle oil, which can easily overpower any dish, but they used a light hand with it, and they came out light and crispy. One order was enough for the two of us, but the typical American will want an order to themselves. DLW was thrilled to see root beer float on the menu, her all-time favorite dessert. They just handed her a paper cup with ice cream and let her fill it from the fountain. She was fine with this arrangement, and found the ice cream to be better quality than expected. We sampled the entire menu except for the veggie burger, and why would we do something silly like that? They also have quite a selection of beers in cans, including Iron City, which I hadn't seen around here before. It can stay right where it is, yuck. I don't think you can beat the combination of quality and price here. Some have complained about the portions, but why should a burger have to fill you to the gills? Greasy yes, tasty no. The truffle oil fries were disappointing. We were expecting so much more taste than what we got. Again greasy. We also had the root beer float. This was the best part of the meal. But, how much skill and talent does it take to scoop out some Tillamook Vanilla Ice Cream into a cup. Probably about as much skill as it took us to go to the fountain dispenser and add the root beer to it. So the NON-skilled item was the best item we had. Unfortunate! Lovely food, GREAT staff. They clearly work well together, and for the most part are a great team. Why is LBB so slow? Their menu has 4 food items on it. Don't come in a hurry. I've been three or four times and it always takes at least 10 minutes to get 1 order of fries and a plain no cheese burger with no drink. I know it's supposed to be a higher quality product, but that is ALL they make, so why the long wait at lunch time? It wasn't very crowded either. Burgers are pretty tasty. They come medium -- some pinkness in the middle for sure. Fries are probably over rated here on yelp -- the truffle oil can be a bit much, but they are perfectly crispy and have a good amount of salt. I like the non-traditional ketchup and fry sauce available. LBB is fine if you're in the neighborhood, but don't get your hopes too high. Parking can be tricky if you don't want to pay a meter and don't want to chance it parking at market of choice. Oh yeah, and I'm always FREEZING in there. Turn on the heat! read more

The french fries in truffle oil are super delicious - great that they use Yukon Gold potatoes. There is no silver ware or plates or a place to put your ketchup - that kind of sucks and is messy.
