Classic English pub food. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Club Sandwich and let me tell you, it was AMAZING! I think it might actually be the best sandwich I've ever tasted (it could also be because I was starving). I would go back just for that sandwich. Lion's Pub is an old-style English pub sitting by the glitz and ritz of the Vancouver waterfront. You pretty much walk out of the polished Canada Place skyline, past the impossibly clean white exterior and patio and you're inside a dark, dank English pub. Nice. Prices for the food are decent for the area about $9 - $15 per entree and they have many of the English staples on the menu. My friends enjoyed their fish and chips and my pulled pork sandwich was pretty good - save the coleslaw that it came with. There's lots of local and British beer on tap - about $6 for a local 'mug' and $8 for a imported 'mug'. I say 'mug' like that since it's about $2 more than their 'glass' and what they call a 'mug' is about a pint elsewhere. I guess when you say a 'mug of beer' to me, I instantly picture a beerstein (I set myself up for disappointment). So prices on the beer aren't that great - but probably fair if you don't want to go to Gastown nearby. So - the food is pretty good, drinks aren't very cheap and there's an outdoor patio if you enjoy the sights of maddenly polished and touristy area around Canada Place. Or sit inside the classic pub interior for a change of pace from the rest of the area. For a Saturday night, it was pretty dead, so I guess it's a good place if you just want a chill place to have a beer. Completely different vibe (or lack thereof) compared the Gastown bars nearby. read more

Awful loud rap music, ok drinks, C- food, nothing interesting or inventive here but yes it is across from the CC and an alternate to tap and barrell. Not a gastropub and not an English feel . If this is one of the more English pubs in town then my heart is sunk read more

I met a large party there for drinks and possibly dinner but I would have no idea what their food or drinks were like because they refused to serve me. My party was large and there were many people standing up so I went to the bar to buy a drink. The person at the bar told me to go to the server with my party to get the order. When I tried to order through the server, she said I had to be sitting down. There was no place to sit. Everyone else in my party had no problem going to the bar and ordering a drink. Everyone standing had drinks in their hand. For some unknown reason, I was refused. I was looking forward to a nice time with people I knew and the employees here ruined it. A person I was with told the manager and they apologized to her. No one bothered to talk to me. There is no reason for me to have been singled out. I had literally just walked in and barely said hello to some of the people I knew. If you're with a large party BEWARE, as they may treat some people differently. London Pride on tap!? Yes please! We have been wanting to try this place for a while and it didn't disappoint. Also has my other favourite Innis & Gunn on tap. Great selection of English comfort food as well. Server was pleasant and the food was good. The atmosphere is true English Pub. What a cute, British-style pub with a friendly atmosphere! We came in for a quick, healthy dinner of salad, no drinks. And the server didn't even seem annoyed. He was very warm and inviting as he seated us, and even remembered my friend from a visit she made 3 months prior. Now, that's service. Wandered here from the conference center. It's large inside with a variety of booths, high tops, and tables. I didn't order any alcohol as I was going out later with friends, but ordered a fried chicken slider dinner with fries. It was pretty yummy but the chicken seemed too crispy so it was hard to bite into. Staff was a bit slow, but I didn't mind hardcore since I wasn't in a time crunch. Putting rosemary and olive oil on top of a kaiser bun does not make a focaccia! We had the salmon sandwich, fish and chips and frothy beverages. Service was okay, salmon was over cooked and order was not executed as requested (we didn't think that salmon needed mayo). Fish and chips was well breaded using fresh fish but we had to leave behind 2 full servings of chips as we had already eaten 2 serves. Wasteful to say the least unless you have a bottomless gut. The beer was good! In short, we would not go back unless we were cruising for a good beer. read more

My office crew and myself often go to this awesome pub after work and join the construction guys, stock market traders, tourists and locals for a pint or two of ale and some amazing pub style food! Wicked place! The staff is great, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the drink prices are fantastic and we always have fun! A few steps away from the overpriced Gastown tourist traps, this is the perfect place to kick back in a traditional English style Pub and meet real people over real drinks! read more

You know the adage if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it. This may apply here but Ive never been one to speak my mind. This was a fluke occurrence, i was not out trolling for the Lions Pub, happened to be at an event at the Vancouver Club and they were the closest, cause go figure, I'm at the Vancouver Club and they have no food but the apples on the coffee tables and I wasn't sure how they'd take to me eating the decorations. So, pub like, larger than most. I'm a bit of a bar chick, like to eat at the bar most time when I'm alone, so less pathetic. Based on the male crowd at the bar, rough, icky and rough, i chose a table this time. Not the sort of guys you'd want to have a cocktail party with in an alley let me say. Anyhoo. Sat down, sat down, stayed down, getting kind of annoyed sitting down and finally had to get up and wave the bartender down. Got my menu and my harassed, tired waitress came over. I don't think she was tired from working, she just is tired I think, straight out of Corner Gas, world weary waitress shtick (I have never watched Corner Gas but i saw enough previews). I asked about a martini they had, it looked interesting and YEAH, I GET IT, who the *&$% orders a martini at a pub and expects it to be decent, it was horrid, she talked it up, i was an idiot and it was awful. My bad. Ordered the beef skewers, medium rare, with salad. OK, writing this I know, who orders lamb skewers and a salad at a pub with a martini? You know whats coming, it was dry, well done and I ate it, because it was a whopping $14 of crap but damn it was not going to waste. The experience was sub par, I am never going back. I don't like beer or burgers (unless its gourmet and prissy). My waitress pulled the vanishing woman act and I had to tackle the bartender again for the bill. If you like plaid, plumber butt, beer, burgers and bangers and hang out in alleyways, THIS is the place for you! I marked this as pricey because for a pub and the quality of food it should have been half of what I paid. read more

We were in Vancouver for just a few days and this gem of a Pub was located alongside our hotel. We not only ate there twice, we made it our last call each night (didn't like our glitzy hotel bar). I came in here for the first time a couple of years ago while on a weekend extension of a business trip... Hammy (Sean Hamilton) the boss man had been nothing but an excellent host ever since. I am from Chicago and they always find a TV for the Blackhawks! Ron is also my favorite bartender. He is a Hawks fan! I love these guys so much I sent them my own Hawks jersey and helmet to display proudly (when the Nucks aren't playing)! Great staff, great service, great bar food and excellent handles for a beer! Slow service but of course friendly. Parking near there sucks like all of downtown Vancouver but. Most importantly. Good food and a solid selection of vegetarian options as well as beer served in the appropriate glasses Belgian style. read more

Close to the cruise terminal, it's the only part Vancouver's Terminal City Club that is open to the public. The pub has a nice selection of traditional English food with a pleasant atmosphere. The wait service was prompt and friendly. The WiFi was nice and strong. read more

Food and drinks are OK if you can get them! Worse service I have experienced in Vancouver. We live very close by so have tried it several times, frequently walking out after not been served after 10 to 15 minutes when it is almost empty. Will not be going back anytime soon. read more

Most disappointing pub/eatery in Vancouver. Beer was okay. We had the seafood chowder and it was okay but nothing special. The worst was the WELSH RAREBIT. This was a total ripoff. I went here to watch the hockey game on a Sunday night. We showed up right as the game was starting, and I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to find a table for four right away. I thought the place would be packed. I really liked the decor, and how large the place was. It had a really cool old English pub vibe to it. The televisions were weirdly angled where we were sitting, and I had to crane my neck a little bit to watch the game. The food we ordered was not great, but average for pub food I guess. I had the "Ploughman's Lunch," which was a meat and cheese platter with an uncut baguette and add-ons like onions and pickles. It was like a build-it-yourself sandwich platter. I wasn't thrilled I had to cut the bread myself, and because the baguette was a bit hard on the outside, I made an unholy mess trying to saw off little pieces to combine with the meat and cheese. There were crumbs everywhere. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp appetizer, and the batter they cooked the shrimp in was crunchy and gross. He peeled it off to eat the shrimp inside. Not cool. The cheeseburger sliders someone else ordered were proclaimed to be tasty. The service was good -- we never had to wait very long for our drinks to be refilled, even though it was game night. As soon as the game ended around 7:30, though, our waitress announced it was last call for drinks and they were closing. What? I know it was a Sunday, but I thought that was really weird, and it annoyed me. I would come here again just for the decor and nice location near the waterfront. read more

When planning our trip to Vancouver, we wouldn't have guessed our first night in town would be spent at a pub. We also didn't know our team would make it to the NCAA final four! Normally we don't sit around and watch sports when there's a whole new city to check out, but making the final four doesn't happen every year, so we were desperate to find a bar to accommodate our request for the sound, for an American college basketball team, during a local hockey game. Our concierge tried a list of places and Lions was perfectly willing to fulfill our request. What an awesome local spot. Billy was our bartender and he was fantastic. He knew every beer on the list and was happy to pour a taste of something based on a description of what we liked and suggestions were spot-on every time. They also have a fun list of cocktails and by the glass wines. We had the veggie platter, short rib pizza (oh my gosh) and coconut shrimp. Bigger than expected portion sizes and solid bar food. Had fun talking to the other folks at the bar - both locals and visitors. A perfect choice! Cheers! read more

So disappointing. Went to a wedding at the terminal city club and popped down to the Lion's Pub so a bite between the ceremony and reception. First of all half the restaurant was closed off as reserved even tho no one ever sat there. My husband and I sat at a two top which already was set with cutlery and menus. As we were looking thru a menu the waitress came by and took our drink orders, my husband asked for a beer and I had a glass of wine. We also ordered two appys but held on to the menu. Drinks and food arrived. When my husband finished his beer the waitress came by and asked if he wanted another which he did, she also asked if I wanted another drink and I decline being only halfway into my glass of wine. We finished the appetizers and the plates were cleared, the waitress never came back to ask if we wanted anything else. We sat at the table for about 30 mins while my husband nursed his second beer, I never had a chance to even ask for a glass of water. Finally after my husband's drink had been empty for about 10 mins the waitress came back and asked if he would like something else, never once did she address me. We just asked for the cheque which took a while to be presented, and then there was another lengthy wait while we waited for the debit machine to be presented. All in all what we sampled of the food was decent but I wouldn't recommend a place based on French fries and a few deep fried pickles alone. The service however was so horrible that even if the food was amazing I would never go back. This place must run a pretty good racquet with TCC being upstairs and all the weddings they do so they should really up their service to match that of the club upstairs. read more

Ate here yesterday, was horrible service. I was seated outside to enjoy the sun and at first everything was going great. Then my food came which was so so. But then the waiter never came back. After waiting 20 minutes to get a soda refill I finally asked the manager if he could please top me off. Instead of helping out (he wasn't busy except for talking to girls stopping in) he told me to go to the bar waiter's station and ask for a refill myself. Trying to be nice I did so but then was yelled at by the bartender. I told him that the manager sent me over for a coke refill because the waiter was to busy to get me another soda. He then grabbed the glass and filled it with soda water- not coke. Before I could retort he went to the other end of the bar. I was upset by now and went back to my table only to find that someone had cleared my half eaten dinner! I mentioned this to the waiter when he showed up 10 minutes later and he just said sorry and handed me the bill!! Ridiculous!! read more
