I've been here a few times already and liked it every time. However, in my last experience (which was this last weekend), my friends and I didn't have the best experience. We were four friends that came for happy hour. Here are the details: Service: we were helped by three different servers but the main server helping us seemed to have screwed up our orders. We each ordered our own individual dishes but in addition to that, we ordered the crispy cauliflower (3 in total). When the food came out, everything came with one of the crispy cauliflowers and we reminded the server that there should've been two more. However, a few minutes later, a different server brought out one more and was surprised to learn we order three and we were waiting for the third one. So a bit of an off service day. Food: food seemed to be okay. It was much better the previous times I had been there so I'm not really sure if it was just an off day in the kitchen or not. read more

Had a good time here. We had made a reservation for the Seahawks game and they had a place at the bar reserved for us. The Cobb salad, and especially the chicken, was surprisingly delicious! Service was friendly even though they were busy, although some people at the bar didn't seem to know how to pour beer (I watched one waitress pour out ~5 pitchers of pure foam over the time we were there). Came here looking for pinball on Tuesday night. They had Foo Fighters, Jaws, and Stranger things. It was $2 per ball. We walked around the bar to find out there was bingo happening. The prizes were tequila shots and different alcohol products. We ended up staying for a few hours but didn't win anything :(. The dj from the canucks was playing and it was an entertaining night. Lemon pepper fries FTW!!! Went out as a big group for a bday party, service was fast and friendly! When the hockey game was over a dj started and got the vibes going. Second dj really knew his stuff. He had everyone up and dancing. We went through a bunch of orders of those fries. They were fresh and delicious. Im happy to report their mocktails were also damn good. There's mario kart racing and a photobooth. So we'll definitely be back. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! read more

A friend of mine held a small get together here recently. I'm not much of a pub/bar person and didn't know what to expect. I would say off the top that it's a much nicer place than I would have anticipated. It looks quite new and it feels like it has a bit of the new shine on it still. There's a lot of seating space for parties/groups to comfortably hang around. I didn't interact with them but there's also some arcade and physical games available. That was a fairly nice touch, and along with all the TVs around provides a lot of options to do things. The beer menu was fairly extensive for my tastes and I felt satisfied with the options available. Foodwise, I ordered their Deluxe CB Burger for myself. I thought it was fine overall and I liked having both the meat patty and bacon at the same time. Service was very good. Bless the servers helping us that night as our group just kept rolling through orders and having the occasional spillage problems. They were very attentive and nice to all our various asks. Overall, I would say the birthday boy had a really good time as he was generously fed with food and alcohol. Myself, I thought it was good overall too. I'm surprised to see such a low rating on Yelp. I thought my experience here was fine, but the food is a bit pricey which is why I'm bumping it down one star. I came with a friend for drinks and snacks Thursday night around 8 pm. The front area was full but there was still plenty of seating available in the back. The whole space is big and it looked like they had some games and pinball available as well, but we didn't look too closely at the options. Tables were spaced pretty far apart and the whole place looked very new and clean. They don't have physical menus but instead offer a barcode you can scan and access the menu with. My friend got a beer and we shared some wings ($12.95) and loaded tater tots ($11.75). When the food came out, I was surprised by how small the portions were. Didn't think they were worth the price we paid, but at least the food itself was good. Their brunch menu looks pretty good, I'd like to come back to try that. read more

I just went to Shock! at Good Co. last night. It was super busy and the music was good, although things were expensive. However, I'm from Hawai'i and they didn't believe my ID was real. They made me show them my driver's license, my debit card & my credit card (both with my full name on them), my UBC ID, AND a photo of my U.S. passport to get in. I understand they're trying to be thorough and keep everyone safe but I am genuinely 21 (far past 19) and if I didn't happen to have a photo of my passport they said they wouldn't have let me in. I usually get some questions about my driver's license since I'm from Hawai'i but 5 pieces of ID just to enter seems extreme. I guess it's better that they're overly anal about that sort of thing, but it definitely frustrated me since I am literally legally of age and would have been turned away. read more

Me and my SO here to play some games and have a relaxing afternoon on a Sunday. In terms of food, this is definitely a sports bar, featuring ur traditional menu items such as wings, sliders, nachos, and fried chicken and waffles. Quality and taste is as expected for a sports bar. I wouldn't crave anything in particular, but would suggest trying the sliders. The biggest draw for this place is by far the entertainment options. Large screens blasting sports are located all throughout the building. The lower floor by the entrance features a small collection of arcade games, including pin ball, pop-a-shot, and street fighter, to name a few. In the back corner is a Bocce ball court. Upstairs is a foosball table, ping pong table, and pool table. A change machine is located by the arcade games on the ground floor. Been here many times pre-pandemic and never have any complaints, always a good time and great vibes! However, my friend and I decided to stop by here to grab a happy hour bite and it was so clean inside, sanitized and spacious. I got their happy hour onion rings for $6 and they're probably the BEST onion rings I've ever had. Amazing crispy batter, juicy onions, and an amazing garlic parmesan sauce. You know, I hate giving places bad reviews for stupid reasons. I've been to Colony a number of times -- both during, and before pandemic -- and the same problems keep cropping up to ruin my experience. Service 1/5 -- Pretty terrible. This is not a one off thing. I usually come in here when it's totally dead to check in a couple of new beers and order some food. The staff are on top of the first round, but I was not only never approached by either of the three bartenders to ask if I wanted any food, but they're hiding on the other side of the bar chit chatting with staff, or one other customer, ignoring the side I'm on completely. This is not the first time this has happened here... my bill would have been four times higher, but that is not happening now Even sitting with an ounce of beer left, I haven't been approached for a refill. Hard fail. F. Food 2/5 -- The food is alright here I guess. I cant really remember though because they hardly ever bother to offer food if you're sitting at the bar. Atmosphere 2/5 -- I feel like the staff would rather not be working, so that really cuts back on the ability to enjoy the atmosphere. The place is happening enough, and a good place to come with to with friends; games and music and stuff, not bad. Definitely not a date night, or even singles night kinda place. Cleanliness 3/5 -- They're doing a pretty good job keeping it clean right now, but it's been a mixed bag over several visits. Bathroom is hit or miss, sometimes it's like walking though an autumnal forest, where instead of leaves, there are toilet paper squares all over the place. Overall 2/5 -- The takeaway here is that your staff just doesn't seem to care. I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars. Chill place to hang. A bit odd to see kids in there, like elementary/middle schoolers on a weekend after 8:30pm. Many bars don't let kids or they restrict to only before 5-6pm. Arcade games around witch is cool. Lots of tvs for sports but a couple we playing kids movie so a bit confused. Staff are alright but could be more professional and friendly that's for sure. Super busy but lots of seats and tables one first and second floor. They have food that you can order. There are beer and liquor. Restrooms were fine, not too dirty but so small. Super loud so really need to be loud. They check your ID's twice. We dropped by Colony on Granville Street for Happy Hour as we were catching an early evening movie downtown. This place is huge, with mostly high top table seating. This place obviously caters to a younger crowd (than us). The service was good, friendly but without being overbearing. The Happy Hour menu was decent, and we tried the chicken wings, onion rings and the Nashville Slider Duo. All three were good, the wings were juicy, and the slider well seasoned. For the two of us, with a beer each, the bill came to about $40 before tips. Not a bad place to catch some decent food/drink at a good price. This place is a joke. The worst food I have ever had. Happy hour gives you a minor discount on poor quality food. The taco was boiled chicken on a corn tortilla. Crispy cauliflower was greasy bits that looked worse than cat food. Beer is slightly discounted but also in shrunken sizes so where's the deal there? The waitress was super rude and expected an 18% tip. Never returning! The decor is totally falling apart as well, with faux leather chairs that are all peeling. Just gross! read more

I decided to have brunch there. The ambiance is really fun. Hostess was very pleasant. We had : - Fried Chicken & Waffles Traditional Liege Waffles, Fried Chicken, Sunny Side Egg - Avocado Toast Crushed Avocado, Lemon, Chili, Grape Tomato, Radish, Multi-Grain Toast and I added a hard poached egg. They make good caesars. We also had a cider mimosa. Service could be better, knowing that it wasn't a busy morning.. Other than that, I think it's a really cool place to hang out with friends, watch sports, have fun & play various arcade games. A few hours ago from posting this, I was excited to bring my 2 out-of-town guests here since I had an awesome & fun experience here a month or 2 ago. That excitement was completely ruined by the attitude & the way the lady at the front treated me, my fiancé & my 2 guests. She was completely rude, impatient & disrespectful. She asked for our IDs, which was already expected, but what we experienced after that was totally unacceptable. She could have appropriately tell us to look at the camera, but instead she yelled at us "seriously you guys need to stand still" as she rolled her eyes & waved her hand for us to stop. I have no idea why she said that, when all we (my group & I) did was talk to each other in the ear because the music was loud; it wasn't like we were fooling around. Then my turn came, she asked for my ID & rudely pointed for me to look at the other camera, again, rolling her eyes acting all pissed off. I gave her a displeased look, as I saw the guy seated beside her chuckle & smile while crossing his arms. Afterwards, my friend needed some help getting her ID out of her bag, so I was going to go help her, but the lady yelled "hey!" And kept tapping my ID on the counter for me to get my ID, as if she was in a rush..as if it was busy...BUT it clearly wasn't. It was totally unnecessary to treat us like that....I mean it wasn't busy at all...and there was no one else behind us...so what's the rush? Why treat us as if we did something wrong? Unbelievably horrible customer service. I felt embarrassed my out-of-town guests had to experience such unnecessary rudeness as their welcome to the establishment. After all this, we went to find a table & sat down, our mood changed; the excitement & fun was ruined; the vibe just changed. We weren't as excited to order anything. Our server on the other hand was awesome, and we appreciate it, but this welcoming experience was not acceptable at all; it really made me feel like I won't come back again. My obvious suggestion, start off your customers experience with a warm welcome as you explain short, but clear instructions. No matter what you're going through, be professional; don't pass any frustrations/problems you have to your customers. If you want them to come back, give them a reason to actually come back....and that all begins with excellent customer service. read more

Not sure if it's because this place is extremely loud, but the servers always get our orders wrong. The bad experience(s) I had here as a group was when my colleague had asked for, oh I don't know a beer and she'd get a high ball, or when another colleague of mine asked for the bill 3 times and he'd get 3 drinks instead. Now, I don't know if this is their "tactic" to get the amount higher for the bills, but the servers don't even stick around for us to stop and tell them "no, this is not what I asked for" - drop and go, drop and go, really should be their motto. I do, however, love the space with games, sports tv and vibe for large groups. The food is good for a sports bar but again, what bar doesn't have good food? Its almost, always, fried goodies. So let me start off by saying that this place was the old Caprice night club. It is not like the other Colony's. Imagine a bar/restaurant that gets dark and blasts music. It's basically a club with food and video games minus the dance floor. Maybe it's because I'm not longer in my twenties that I couldn't stand this place. It totally fits in with Granville Street. Take that comment any way you like lol. The server and bartender we had was great. My drinks were good, mind you, can you really mess up a gin and tonic...actually check out my review of The Diamond. Anyways, this may appeal to alot of people who don't care about yelling all night to have a conversation, for the rest of us...I suggest the other Colony locations. That may be more up your alley. Came here on a Tuesday with a couple of friends for half off Tap (12oz) Tuesday! We were promptly seated at one of the end of a high table. For a Tuesday night, it was a lot busier than I thought. They were pretty packed and even had an event going on upstairs! We all ordered our own beers and decided to split some plates as none of us had dinner yet. We opted for the Fried Squid and the Yam Fries. Fried Squid was probably the best one I've had in a while! It had Sambal Oelek so it's a bit on the spicier side but definitely worth the little kick. Yam Fries are probably also one of the better ones I've had as well since they were pretty much all gone by the end of the night. Tasted great with or without the mayo and ketchup which I find can be rare often times I find myself using the sauce as the yam fry itself lacks flavour. I got 3 of the Pilsners and we split the bill three ways so it came to less than $20 before tip. Service was really great and prompt! Definitely will be coming here again as they have a great menu for both food and alcohol and servers were super friendly! read more

I laugh as a read some of the previous reviews and I am sure you will find my write up just as entertaining, but for differerent reasons. Let's start with this bold statement.... "This Colony bar is not like the others! " and I freaking love that! Yes, this is a bar and I imagine if you come on a Friday or Saturday it's probably bananas. I have always dug C-Bar for Tuesday Trash your face and not your wallet night. OH, it's ACTUALLY called" Tapped Tuesdays" I don't wanna confuse. Anyways, this is the old Caprice Bar so it's a huge place, much bigger than the other Colony bars. I love the inventive and social use of the space. It's a lively bar to come to, to socialize and meet people, people who are lively and looking to have fun!!! If you're too old or boring or think you're old and boring then sit down, be humble. My mom would love this place, she'd be playing pool or shuffle board or hitting on the bartenders. If you liked Brewhall, you would like this version of Colony Bar. I appreciate that they have more than just arcade games, they have ping pong, shuffle board, foozeball, ski ball, and like three bars! From the start.... door peeps/bouncers or what I prefer to think of as my "good looking welcoming committee," friendly dudes who did not act all "I have the power" and even better, when we left and then came back they remembered us and didn't ask for our IDs again, but reminded us to grab stamps before it's busy. Staff....we did the bar thing because we were feeling extra social. The bartenders here are top notch awesome sauce. Our service with super fast and friendly! Shout-out to Bryn (Sp?) our first server/bartender of the night. Bryn was super friendly and totally on his game, smiling the whole time! The red lentil hummus was soooo good and rich with flavour; yummiest I have had in a non Greek joint. The plate comes with pita, veggies, marinated chickpeas AND roasted freaking garlic!!!! I omited the pita for more veggies. Our plate was like a tasty rainbow. Very impressed with the Mezza. BBQ CHICKEN flatbread. I have mixed feeling on this one. The crust was nice, but the flatbread was way too small for a main at $16. If this was my dinner I would die of starvation. Yes, it had a lot of toppings, but also way too much sauce dumped all over it. If I ever ordered it again, I would ask for half the amount of sauce on top or maybe sauce on the side. For $16 I wouldn't order this again, unless it was Sunday ($5 off mains). DRIED DRIED SQUID=dope sauce. This dish is legit spicy. One of my pet peeves is when restaurants lable a dish spicy and it shows up all, did u forget the spice or we just all bending over for the wimps that can't take a little spice! Don't order spicy food if you don't like spicy food. Just like, stay home from Colony bar, if you don't enjoy lively bars with loud music and people having a good time. Furthermore, the large pieces of squid were cooked perfectly and with a tasty garlic chilli sauce and spicy green beans. $15.25. HOT WINGS pretty standard with the typical Frank's hot sauce. SIDE SALAD=Epic sauce. I think we had a small girl fight over the side salad. So much love went into making that little side salad! Important life changing info.... This Bar is OPEN till 3am, 7 days a week (According to Colin). I hope this is true because it was happy news for me being a shift worker. Thank you Colony!! Came here last night for a work party. The food was a pre-ordered buffet style menu, and there were quite a few vegan options, which was nice. However, it was disappointing that, even though we had booked and paid for the upstairs area for our party, there was no-one stopping other people (not from our party) from coming upstairs. There were quite a few unknowns who made it up to where we were. As well, I was also incredibly disappointed that, while most of the extra food was packed away for us, some of the food that doesn't keep well (like salad that's already dressed) was just tossed in the garbage by the bar (rather than composted). I was under the impression this was against the law. I guess there was a sports game on last night because it was SO LOUD, we could barely hear each other over the giant TV. There was also a point where the staff were putting away the fold out tables our food was on, and no-one was bartending for like, 10 minutes. One of our party had to go to them and ask for someone to come back to the bar for our drink orders. Might come again for drinks, but not happy with the service. read more

Adding an extra star to what I would've initially given because of how attentive my friend's and my waitress/server was to the fact that a stranger (man) sat down at the other end of our table and started talking to us.
