Went to the main location on a friday night there was no wait but the place was busy inside. We ordered the spicy margaritas that were pretty good but after that it went downhill from there. The burgers were very dry and nothing special, the fries were lukewarm and soft. The nachos ($24) was the best food item, loaded with toppings. The cauliflower was crispy and has a beer batter (worth a try) drenched with a mayo like sauce. It was the service that made the experience less enjoyable. The restaurant seemed short staffed with only a few servers and it took a long time to take our order, items were forgotten and the staff seemed overwhelmed. read more

Looks like Colony has rebranded as Good Co. Parking is available on the side streets. The pub is basically the typical Canadian style sports themed, with some TVs, and typical bar fare. There are some drinks specials, but there is no happy hour on weekends. Decent place to have a beer and chat with friends, though there are plenty of other options in on the same block. read more

Hard to get service. Sat at the bar for 10 minutes and not even an acknowledgement though there was staff right there. I left and went elsewhere. There were a lot of regulars that left too as it was the same for them. Enough great places on Main, money is tight so at the very least we should expect and recieve good service. That is the only tool left to attract people away from your competition. Where is a manager? Any manager will do. The servers are disorganized and way too chatty. I've tried their sister bar Charles Bar in downtown and that was not a good experience - the food was good but the servers were not. I was hoping the Colony Bar would be better. We went for brunch on a Saturday morning and it was empty. There were many way too many servers with nothing to do so they were chatting with each other and it was hard to flag one down so we can be seated. We ordered the Avocado Toast and the CB Benedict. For almost $10, the Avocado Toast was very lacking. It had avocado spread on 2 pieces of toast, 3 slices of radish and 3 cherry tomato halves on each. Taste was ok but very underwhelming. The CB Benedict was very average. The potato sides were probably the best part of it. I think brunch may not be their thing but I'd have to come back for their dinner and drinks. As for the restaurant itself. It was very clean with nice seating. There is a smaller bar area that other bars. Not too many TV screens if you are the sports pub kinda person. read more

This is my first time being to what felt like a sports bar but actually served way more than beer -- in fact probably a full bar. Weird to this American, but good if you don't just want the $4.75 beer on tap. There's also some wine, or even a King Kong shot (like $6.50 each though). (Yum! I thought I hated whiskey! Was here earlier tonight for a Yelp event, but this review is based on the extra food we had (ordered at our own cost) & overall experience at Colony. The ambience here is similar to that of a typical pub. Service was good. Food: We had the Poutine and the Pesto prawn flatbread. Like most pub grub, both items were pretty salty (so you get thirsty and order more beer, lol!) Aside from being a tad too salty, they were both decently tasty. I especially liked the juicy prawns that were atop the flatbread. We didn't have any beers this time, so I can't say anything about their beer selection or taste. The red wine, Coke, and orange juice that we did have were pretty standard stuff. They also have a pinball machine at the back of the pub. So old school! Overall, a decent pub to chill at with some friends for snacks and a couple of drinks. This was probably the most shittiest service I've received and I'm SUPER nice to all service staff. I understand sometimes we can be busy but the two girls helping us tonight couldn't give less of a shit. We stopped by for some drinks and a quick appt before our actual dinner. I've walked by Colony Bar more than a dozen times this summer on my way to Starbucks Reserve and 49th Parallel. This past weekend I finally went in for food! After a long, wet, cold day my mom and sister wanted comfort food but Burgoo had an hour long wait so we walked up Main hoping to find a decent place that could seat us right away. As soon as we walked in a 4 top by the window had just been cleaned off so we sat...and decided to stay Food: you MUST get the beer battered fries! I'm not usually a huge fry person but lately I've been on a kick and these fries at Colony have officially got me obsessed! I'm not kidding... I've thought of those beer battered fries several times this week...should I just do a double order for takeout tonight? Also, Mexican grilled corn that came with the fries chicken was the star of the plate! I couldn't stop eating them! That cotija! Mmmmm.....I wants some now... The fried chicken and fajitas were underwhelming but them side dishes made up for it. This is the first restaurant I decided to traverse since reopening. I was not completely blown away by their food or service, but this place does not pretend to be anything that it isn't. It certainly matches the Mt. Pleasant vibe, and has a lot of seating so it is optimized for social distancing. I have never been here during the evenings, but this has become a go-to spot for brunch as it is close by for me. Also, I don't know why it's just not my thing, every time I hear "Colony Bar" I just think of "Colony Farm". I am a big fan of their Nashville Hot Chicken Sliders, the chicken is just so dang tender every time; however, it is dry. I find that the chicken itself is just so good, but there's nothing on it but a spice rub and pickles. I hope that in the future they'd perfect these sliders as they are excellent at cooking the chicken. It just needs some kind of sauce. Mayo? Ketchup? BBQ? Not sure, just needs something. I have put ketchup on it a few times and it just doesn't satisfy like a sauce specifically for these sliders would. I can't stop ordering this though because the chicken is just so good. They have GREAT tater tots. I will opt to have these instead of potatoes always. The Breakfast poutine is good, however, myself and friends have run into the same issue with this: It is dry. Order extra holllandaise sauce and you should be good. I would skip the Eggs Benedict. The service is okay, too. There is one lady who worked there pre-pandemic, I am not sure if she works there still, I did not have the pleasure of ever catching her name, but she is phenomenal. After school a group of friends and I decided to go grab a few drinks and appies and stumbled into the Colony. They have a huge menu for drinks and food! I got their nachos which was told that I wouldn't needed to add any more toppings because it comes quite packed, and there corn dogs! 'boy were those nachos packed to the core!! Probably the MOST loaded nachos I have ever had at the bar and I am so glad I didn't add protein to it cause I barley made a dent into my nachos!! It was so delicious too with all those condiments! Their corn dogs were also really delicious, it had that childhood carnival nostalgia taste to it! Really brings back the good ol days to it! The bar itself was huge! With 2 floors and so many games to play with, plus 3 bars inside so you get your drinks suppppper fast! Came here for a co-workers going-away gathering. We got here just before happy hour ended so we ordered from the 'rotating tap' as we were there on a Thursday. The beer was ok. A co-worker got the house wine, and it was awful. Then again, it is house wine so you shouldn't really expect it to be that good. A friend got the nachos and it just had enough chips and sauce. There wasn't that much in it for the price they charge. The ones at another pub are better as that other place gives you layers of nachos and each layer has cheese so you don't run out of toppings. I ordered the bbq chicken flatbread, which was good. The wings were tiny, it was like it came from a chick or under-fed chicken. The pieces were small and not a lot of meat. It is a good place to hang out with friends as it's on Main Street and they have a decent patio so the sound travels out, you don't have to yell at your friends to try to talk as the noise level is average. read more

If the Colony was actually a colony, I would join without second thought. Some friends and I wanted to go for drinks and some grubby bar food around 9 on a Friday night. As I virtually strolled down Main Street on Yelp, I noticed the Colony Bar. "Huh, where have I heard that before?" I asked myself. After consulting with a friend, I realized that I had been to the other location in Kits. I didn't remember much about the Kits Colony, so we decided to give the Main Street location a shot. And let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The atmosphere was warm, and the crowds were mainly young professionals, mostly in groups of 4 or so, chatting and laughing boisterously. There was a huge birthday party going on in the back though, so that contributed to a lot of the sound. But enough about the ambience, and let's cut to the important things in life/this review. Beers and ciders on tap, great. All between $4-6 for the most part. The Crunchy Chicken Sandwich changed my life. Buttermilk fried chicken, arugula, pickled red onions, and maple mayo all lovingly placed between a brioche bun. It was so good that 3 of my 4 dining companions ordered it. It reminds me of a typical bar scene in Toronto. We were a party of 5 and luckily, we only waited 15mins. The party that came after us weren't so lucky because we got the last table. We ordered some finger foods like wings, French Fries and a flat bread, it was pretty good for bar food. They didn't have a extensive cocktail menu but the beer menu was pretty decent. We enjoyed our time at colony and found ourselves jammin occasionally to good vibes of R&B tunes they play. Brand new on Main St, in a nice space all wood and stone. Filled with classy hip but relaxed people. A good selection of beers in a spacious not too noisy environment. I like the fact they can open the windows on the street in summer time. I have to come again to test the cocktails and the food. Now that it's bright and sunny these days, I love making the trip out to Colony for casual drinks with my friends! The whole wall is opened up so that the inside of the restaurant is open to the patio, and so much sunlight shines in and lights up the whole place. So, if by any chance there isn't a spot on the patio, you can still sit inside and get some sun! I've been to both the main street location and Kitsilano, which are both very similar, but I would probably prefer the Main street one based on convenience. I also love how the chairs at the Main street location are painted yellow - it bring's such a happy cheerful mood to the place :) The food is great! I love ordering the lemon pepper fries, deep fried pickles, or the fig / boursin pizza. Yum! They're great for sharing... but if you're super hungry, the portion size is definitely reasonable to substitute as an entree too. The only thing that was a bit annoying was how there are no hooks in the bathroom... what If I need to hang up my jacket or my purse!? Not gonna lie, it was a struggle! I thought.. maybe a guy designed this bathroom and didn't think of adding such a small, "trivial" thing... but I noticed it, lol! Who knows, maybe someone will read my review and add a few hooks. It's rare when I become a fan of a place after just one visit. But it is so with Colony. This is a simple, non-pretentious place that serve up a uncomplicated selection of booze and simple but very solid food. This is a place that I'd like to come back to. The menu is simple, but strongly identifies with the vibe of this place: it's a classic diner with a bar, but with a modern face-lift and fresh twists. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with lemon fries. The dish was simply presented, and perfectly portioned - which, IMO is when every bite taste good, and you finish satisfied but not bloated. The chicken sandwich was well balanced with the arugula and picked onion,and the chicken is crispy but not greasy. The brioche bun ties everything together with its soft texture and slightly eggy flavor. I liked the fries, but they were too vinegary for my taste. I would definitely try the garlic fry the nxt time! I did not have been on my visit, but the list is full of local favorites such as Whistler, Parallel 49, and Red Racer. It will both appease the micro brew connoisseur and those who love the classic but want to try something new. read more

Came here for brunch. When you come in you can just seat yourself (it wasn't busy when we came in). We ordered mimosa (since it's $4 brunch price) chicken waffles and breakfast poutine. The drinks were pretty good. Though the food took longer than expected. The chicken waffles was not bad - the chicken was crispy and moist on the inside. The waffles were okay. I think the waffles are a bit light and could have been a bit crisper. The breakfast poutine was pretty good but wasn't as warm as I thought it would be as the curds were not as melted. Never coming here again. Waitress had such poor customer service. No welcome, no smile, just brought us the menu and left then comes back starring at us. Flat pop, flat ginger ale... mine came with a blonde piece of hair on the straw. I called my server over she said 1 minute ended up taking 5, so I ended up calling another server over to let her know about the hair. The Bbq chicken pizza was cold, I took 2 bites and it tasted like it was just sitting there for a while, old and stale. It seemed like it was microwaved and brought to me with parts of it cold. I just ended up eating the chicken on top of the pizza. At the end we waived our server in the army camoflouge tights over, she asked if I wanted mine packed since it was obvious I didn't eat it.. I said no thanks. She did not even ask how the food was, it doesn't take a genious to know that if someone does not eat their meal, doesn't want it packed. It is awful food. Food was amazing, it was my first time here, I had the crispy chicken sandwich. I had a bad experience with the waitress towards the end of my meal when it came time to pay my bill. My bill was $23 something cents and I had gave her $30 cash and asked for $5 bill back. She questioned me in an off tone "so you're only tipping $1 something cents". Before she even said that, I was digging in my wallet for change to add to the tip (I just wanted a $5 bill back as I needed it). She didn't even wait for me to put down all the money I wanted to give to pay for my meal before saying that. I was excited to visit this location as it looked like a great place to spend my evening, however I have never been more wrong in my life. The staff, especially the barman, were the rudest people that have ever served me in my life. As a person of non- Canadian descent, I was singled out by the barman, and before I could even pay was screamed at, "you lot never tip". It took close to half an hour to even place my drink order.
