Waited in line for 30 minutes while people who were sitting at the bar were getting seated before us...then when a table was free we werent allowed to sit there because the waitress "had too much going on." So I thought I'd check this place out after reading a few good reviews by other elite yelpers. It's in my hood and I headed on over. I liked that it's set up in that you just walk in and seat yourself. They have a happy hour with $4 highballs and tapas ranging $7-10 We ordered every tapas on the menu and they were all pretty decent pub food except the chicken wings were raw and bleeding so I attached photos in this review. One of the forks was so noticeably dirty that we had to get clean ones. I sent the chicken wings back and got new ones and had to wait awhile for them and wasn't even offered any type of discount on my bill even tho I showed the waitress how raw it was so I was a little bit turned off by that. If you're looking for a nice little neighbourhood pub it may be worth checking out. I may have just gotten a chef and dishwasher on a bad day. read more

The kale was yellow so NOT "baby kale" The Parmesan cheese was the plastic version you get from the bag so NOT "shaved Parmesan Whoever made the salad didn't even bother to toss the dressing so the salad was very dry unless you took the time to toss it yourself with your fork. Been here twice now; once for brunch with the girls and once for afternoon drinks on a weekend. Recommend both! Weekend brunch was decent, food wasn't memorable but they do Caesar's and brunch cocktails, plus it's not too busy unlike the more popular brunch spots. The happy hour is amazing- $3 highballs or draft beer between 3-6 on weekdays. Otherwise you're looking at $10 for 1.5oz to 2oz cocktails and $5.50 for beer. Nice room with lots of natural light to make you feel like you're on a patio even in the middle of winter. We only tried the fries, which were fine, but can't speak to any of the rest of the food. Service was friendly but slowish. I think there was only one server for the entire room the afternoon we were there. Not a deal breaker, but given similar comments on other reviews, I think I'd avoid this place if I was on a tight timeline. read more

Unfortunately, some of their food items are hit/miss, like the risotto balls and the very sour and oddly textured salads. The server took forever to take our orders, didn't refill our water, took forever to come by to settle the bill (didn't separate/ ask to). The food there was basic.. flatbread was okay. A great place for a quick beer and bite to eat. Came here for brunch with a group of 6 on a sunday. No wait time just waltzed right in. I ordered the tater tot poutine poached eggs option. It was pretty neat dish, instead of gravy on the taters they give you two poached eggs as the gravy instead. I'm a big fan of the tater tots and the creativity was nice. The dish itself wasn't really anything special but like i said I do appreciate the creativtiy! service was ok. For a place that wasn't really that full it took us about 30 minutes to get all our food, we were chatting for most of it and didn't really notice until someone went "where's our food". staff were apologetic about that and food came out right after. Meh. This place used to be Mr. Brownstone, which was a whole lot of average. So I thought this would definitely be an improvement when I went there to meet some friends. Not sure this is the case. I had a pound of wings, which were a bit pricey and not very tasty. My gf had the chicken burger and a salad, which looked pretty good. I had a bite, the burger sure was good. Again, the price seemed a bit steep for the portion size, at least to me. The ambience is alright, not too loud so you can have a conversation without yelling too much. Lots of screens with sports and movies. Service was decent, although our waitress seemed a bit new. All in all, place has potential and I will likely give it another chance, see what some of the other food is like. Ok so I've been to the Kits spot but I think this one is better. Mind you that was an odd night...but anyways...on to the review! Our waitress was really good. She was super friendly though wasn't as attentive as we would have liked. I should note that it was 4 pm and super dead in there, so I have no idea what she was doing. lol. Though I must give her credit, she gave good recommendations and knew her stuff...so It's all good girl! lol I love the drink selection for beer here. I actually tried some different beers that I loved! Yum! I could have stayed here way longer than we did. We also ordered poutine, which was good but not great. I don't like a dark gravy on my poutine. So it was ok. Ambiance was cool and laid back. It was also clean which is a feeling I don't get from the Kits location lol. I had an awful experience here today. We couldn't get our server's attention even when my friend found a fly in her beer. My friend ended up having to go the bar to get it exchanged for fresh one-receiving no discount or even apology. When our server did finally reappear she slammed down our plates with great hostility and remained apathetic at best for the rest of our stay. After eating a very McDonald's-like $14 burger (with no sauce, not even ketchup!) and waiting a solid fifteen minutes for her to return, we decided to move to the bar in hopes of better service. She immediately rushed over, accusing us of trying to walk out on our bill. We would have told her we were moving tables if she had come by at any point/shown any interest in us. We only stayed after our meal because the happy hour started and offered a sleeve of beer for $3. Unfortunately the beer was watery, markedly different from the regular price beer I drank five minutes earlier, even though I ordered the exact same beer. The cherry on the top was the server accusing us of not paying for the burger as we walked out, despite the fact that we paid the bartender in full for the subpar meal and even tipped 10% on ridiculously terrible service. We'll never return here even though the manager was very kind and accommodating when my friend called to complain. Even with the free food offer it's not worth going back! read more

Came here for brunch for the first time. Ceasers were on special. What you would typically expect- nothing fancy. Bottomless coffee which is nice (and it was always hot!) I ordered the Quinoa Benny. It was really interesting. Your poached eggs came served on top of a quinoa patty with roasted tomatoes. Didn't ask how I wanted my eggs poached. Tasty and definitely a healthier option! This is the worst first impression and poor excuse for service I've ever received. We walked in and even though it's self seating, were directed to sit at a two person table wedged between two other occupied tables even though there are other more spacious and less crowded areas available. We opted for one of these and had yet to even properly be greeted. No smile no hi how are you, nothing other than when we sat at our chosen table were told bluntly that we would be asked to move if a bigger party came in. The server walked away and served another table, came back and asked if we wanted anything to drink and when we said we weren't sure yet she rudely just walked away. Wahoo! A place everyone can agree on. Great rotating tap selection, casual atmosphere, and sportsballs! So excited you introduced some classic Mexican dishes to your new menu but wish the Street Corn was done with actual crema instead of mayo + some RED. It's hard to get good traditional Mexican in Canada (hola Mezcal!) so please keep on this direction, but consider challenging that authenticity. The direction you're going with the tater tots, micheladas, happy hour etc. is very Portland and we are SO on board. This was a terrible dining experience. First off, Myself and a friend waited for over 45 minutes for our food. Once we finally received our food (eggs benny's), I cut into the egg on top, and it was super hard poached. I sighed and took a bite anyway. That's when I realized that not only were the eggs over poached, but for some reason they were also ice cold, along with the hollandaise sauce. Brutal. after waiting for about 10 minutes before the server even checked in with us again, asking if things were good, I told her how terrible it was. She took the benny back to the kitchen and we continued to wait for another 20 minutes or so ( almost 1.5 hours since ordering, still havent eaten). When she came back, we told her not to bother, paid for our drinks, not the breakfast, and left. Overall - dont eat here. it is crap. terrible food, bad service. and a pretty lame brunch menu to begin with. read more

The food is the standard pub fare, prices maybe a tad much for some of the menu items, but I was happy to see they had deep fried pickles on the menu! For a first night in town, this bar was pretty decent for what you get in terms of service and quality drinks. Pro: the vibes! The people! The music! Even the service was fair at accommodating the customers and getting the drinks to their tables. Con (and this goes for ALL bars on this street): the hours. Regardless of my friends and I going on a Thursday night, I expected the hours to be at least til 1 or 2 am, but unfortunately this bar and other bars on this street are until 12am. Both Colony locations are well designed and decorated. I started my Colony career on the West Broadway location where I would go for drinks with co-workers after longer days. When I moved to the east side and saw a familiar sign, I decided to stop in. The visit did not disappoint. The bar was busy with lots of different people, the TVs were all playing a sports game of some sort and everyone was having a good time. The drink deals are always good and the variety of beer that was on top when I went in was to my satisfaction. Tried a few new brews and went on my way. I'll go back for sure! read more

I love this place! Came here yesterday with my boyfriend for the first time after hearing about the other location from a friend. I loved the beer specials ($4 for a Red Truck/Red Racer beer/highball on a Friday night, cant go wrong there!) and the atmosphere was solid with super friendly bartenders! We enjoyed our time at Colony Bar. My husband ordered the margherita pizza and he liked it, but it was not large enough to be a meal in his opinion. We both liked the beers we had and the service was excellent. We were out on the patio and received fast and friendly service from our server. My kale Caesar salad was fine, but I do want to emphasize it was not a typical Caesar dressing. To be honest, it was HIGHLY reminiscent of light mayonnaise. I like mayonnaise, but it was not lemony, anchovy-y, salty, or olive-oily in any way. The croutons were great! They are made of quinoa, and my husband said "this is the best quinoa I have ever had!" The Parmesan was also presented in nice, big flakes. Our experience was pretty average over all. I won't go back because there are always more places to try, but I wouldn't consider my experience negative at all. read more

I liked Brownstones better - the food was definitely better. We both ordered burgers, and both burger were dry and over cooked- and frankly, nothing extraordinary. Quite frankly, I can make better ones at home. The atmosphere was OK. It was fuller than I've ever seen Brownstones on a Friday night so they must be doing something right. The service was below average. The hostess didn't know what was going on and seemed confused and wandered most of the time. The only thing I liked about the place was that the booth was comfy and the food and drinks came relatively quickly. Unfortunately we won't be back. read more
