A chill pub / sports bar to hang out at Marine Gateway! I dropped by late Thursday evening around 10:30 after getting off skytrain, and it was mostly empty. My party of three was just there for drinks, but they have a pretty extensive food menu with traditional pub fare like burgers, soups and salads, apps for sharing, and a variety of entrees (Irish and otherwise). For my drink, I went with the spiced cranberry margarita ($10.50). It came with a sugar rim, which I've never tried before, but it was delicious and went with the margarita really well. I surprisingly really enjoyed this drink! My friends ordered chicken tenders to share and they said it was pretty good as well. Definitely hits the spot for a late night snack to go with drinking. read more

When I was just a young lad I did plenty of camping, and as I prioritized booze and other things I didnt plan much for food, this means I ate canned chunky stew almost exclusively. I know that taste incredibly well, and that my friends is exactly what this places "authentic" Irish stew tastes like. I dont know how they accomplish that although I suspect some or all of the components are canned. My favourite local Irish pub and frequent regularly . Ambiance is always cheerful Irish music and sports on tv . Food is always good . Today It took 30 minutes to get served lunch when the place is empty ( 5 tables occupied ) in the whole restaurant . The Party of 3 that was seated 5 minutes after us received their meals 5 minutes ahead of us & was served the same order of fish and chips . My cup of soup was shorted again ( see pic !) and was water based so I can't imaging it would kill their budget to actually fill the cup of soup up instead of ~ 3/4 ! I Didn't say anything or complain because I mentioned this the last time I got soup there . Obviously they decided not to listen or change their strict 8 oz = 1 cup policy even though it obviously looks bad . Beer on tap was flat . Chips ( French fries could use some improvement as the acrylimides are obvious with this possibly cheap frying oil . ? Lunch special Grilled cheese and bacon sandwich was reported to be a disappointment . Server was pleasant as always . Short staffed and lacking customers was obvious on this Tuesday afternoon. Pleasant pub environment in a good location, but subpar beer offerings and food. I would never have chosen to eat or drink here, but I was sort of dragged here. They have maybe a dozen beer taps, with some low-tier craft occupying a small majority of them. As a seasoned craft beer drinker, the list didn't excite me; Driftwood Fat Tug and Steamworks Flagship IPA were the only two I consider decent, so I went with a sleeve of the latter. They do flights of 3 x 7 oz pours for $11 plus tax. For food, they have a vegan option (and possibly others if you make substitutions/omissions), so I ordered that (their Buddha bowl; $16 plus tax). The bowl was fine at best, with various grilled veggies, raw spinach and avocado, a gentle Thai peanut dressing, served over jasmine rice. The portion was on the small side -- I needed a snack later at home. Nothing wrong with the bowl, just rather uninteresting, though I do appreciate them providing vegan options. All in all, not a destination I'd choose to return to, but if you end up here, it's not a bad spot. read more

Not really... basic pub grub at best (nachos, wings, tacos, etc), with a heavy accent of Tex-Mex dishes and seasonings throughout the menu. There were some interesting entrées but the only dishes vaguely Irish were the beef stew, and the bangers and mash. I ordered the fish and chips, and was quite disappointed ... overpriced for the small portions that arrived, too greasy, and served with an almost edible chipotle coleslaw. Love the live music here! On the night we came, there was a 2-man band (is that the right word?) that played a wide variety of songs, including an acoustic version of No Scrubs. Pretty neat. The food sucks horribly though. I got the nachos which are made with thinly-sliced potato shavings (like baked potato chips) instead of tortilla chips. It's comfy and cozy at the same time with a TV. Was fun to have food and watch the Raptors game. There was also live music and that was neat to experience. Went to the Yorkshire pudding. I had no idea what to expect but felt like trying something different for once. It was a pastry with roast beef in it served with gravy alongside mashed potatoes. I love mashed potatoes so that's an instant classic for me. It did feel weird eating it as I was either eating the pastry bit or the roast beef. Was enjoyable nonetheless. Am definitely looking to come back here another time. Seems like a great restaurant to have a bit before/after the movie. Their fish and chips are huge as well and something I'd like to have. Hovering between a 3 and a 4 star. We were at Marine Gateway, and this seemed to be the best food option. When we arrived, live music was playing. It was fairly busy, but we were seated upstairs fairly quickly. The hostess wore a kilt which I thought was super cute. From where we sat, we couldn't see who was playing, but we could hear everything just fine. It wasn't too loud. We decided to have a cider to share, as we weren't sure if we would like it or not, and it was a pretty large size. For food we ordered the Steak sandwich, and the stuffed Yorkshire puddings. We waited, and waited, it was almost an HOUR before the food came. At one point, my husband suggested we just leave, but I was hungry, and by the time we went anywhere else, it would be another hour before we ate. Good call on waiting it out ! The steak came cooked perfectly ( Chicago style ). It came with fries ( extra crispy ) and a sad little Cesar salad. It was small and didn't look too good - but it actually was. The bread that the steak was on was crispy, but still fresh and chewy. Then there was the stuffed Yorkshire puddings - omg - so awesome! There were 2 of them - large & crispy full of roast beef. We had the horseradish on the side. The gravy was delicious, and we used the leftovers to dip our fries in. It also came with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies. The meal was one of the best we have had! The only thing that sucked was the service - not only the wait, but we ordered a second drink - and it never materialized. Nor did any water. Very disappointed. Once in a blue moon I'm in the neighborhood because I need to check on my storage, which is nearby. Today was that blue moon. I didn't get food so I'll leave that out of the rating. Service 0/5 -- I was part of the opening team for this restaurant/pub, and it was one of the places I worked at whose mission and direction I really believed in. I don't know if it was an off night -- it shouldn't have been because the place was empty and over staffed -- but I received no attention at all sitting at the bar. I walked in, and immediately started to try to make small talk with a sever who was behind the bar -- I'm guessing the bartender had to do a keg change or something. I made an effort to converse, asking if someone one of the long time bartenders still worked there, and mentioning I was part of the opening team. She didn't know but was cordial, after pouring my beer I never spoke to her again. The bartender returned and asked me if I wanted a food menu -- I didn't, but it was the only time he made effort to socialize. When my drink was nearing empty, no one made any effort to ask if I'd like another. I never did get another and sat with an empty glass in front of me for several minutes. I also would like to reiterate that the place was almost entirely empty, with an average of like .7 tables per staff. I know the staff were new, but coooome on. This is service 101. Atmosphere 3/5 -- Dublin Crossing always kills it with the interior design! Live music is a nice touch, but the fact that it was empty and the staff were keeping to themselves was a major mood killer. Also as per usual, check the bathrooms out guys. Best bathroom in south van. Good place to take a leak, for real. Cleanliness 3/5 -- I mean, it looked alright. Nothing to write home about. The bar was stickyish where I sat down; not great. I'm not a burger fan but I have been thinking about their veggie quinoa black bean burger A LOT after having my first one!! I love beans, it is my current healthy obsession and the black bean with quinoa is an excellent idea. It was so tasty that I came back for takeout the same thing but this time, it wasn't as good as the first one. I'm not sure what happened consistency would be super nice right now. I am not normally a pub diner, but Dublin Crossing is a great one to go to. Perfect for a pre or post movie drink or dinner at Marine Gateway. The service is very good and the food just right. Not an extensive menu, but all the good choices for a pub for both drinks and food. We sat out in the nice patio on a nice cool summer late afternoon. We had the Dublin Crossing Platter and the Happy Hour Poutine both were good. Just before our dessert arrived (they only have one choice, see photo) a persistence hornet forced my nephews and I to sit in the "library" which was very cool. Deidre our server was great. Irish pub in the middle of Marine Station. Parking isn't free underneath. Go try your luck on Yukon instead. The place is themed like a classic Irish pub, which is somewhat amusing since the building is brand new. They do a very good job of it. If one doesn't look outside (which they do a good job masking with those screen-type blinds), it would almost feel like one is inside the real deal. There is an upstairs mezzanine as well. The staff were cheerful and chatty. I tried the Irish lamb stew. Nice chunks of meat, and some potatoes. The strange part is that it also came with what looked like deep fried bread crusts, served on top. Not sure if that's part of the traditional recipe. My biggest complaint though is that the portion was a bit small for the price I paid. Wasn't as filling as I would've liked. I washed it down with some Magners cider, which really hit the spot, and is quite good. As mentioned, the place is wee bit pricey, but they're pretty much the only Irish pub in this part of town, and the overall experience was pretty decent. Not impressed by the long wait time to get served. The restaurant was not even full. The dishes came within 20 minutes but the servers did not check on us. It took us 1.5 hours to finish our lunch with most of that time we are waiting for the server to give us water and to give us our bill. It took 45 minutes for a server to give us our bill from the time we finished our lunch My salad was very tasty nonetheless and I can't complain about the price cuz my lunch was paid for. My entire experience at Dublin Crossing took all of 15 minutes. I grabbed a seat on the patio, ordered my drink, and when it came out, there were something like 5 fruit flies floating around in it. I informed the waitress. With no apology, just an "okay", she takes it back and brings me another drink rather quickly (I'm not even sure it's a fresh one), saying it's the season for them (which really isn't an excuse). This time, it had 2 floating fly carcasses. Sent it back again. And again with just an "okay", she takes it back only to bring me another drink with yet another fly carcass. I asked for the bill, she didn't even offer to take it off my bill. I paid, let her know she can take the drink away seeing as I won't be drinking it with a fly in it and she goes "oh, are you sure?"... I said yes, paid $13 for a drink I couldn't drink, got up and left. Edit: Changed the rating for now. The general manager reached out to me after seeing my review on Facebook in hopes of a chance at redemption. The courtesy is definitely appreciated and will give it another go some time. read more

Had some problems 1.5 years ago and recently returned after an extensive break and found new staff to be super pleasant. The calamari still the best and the payment machine to be more acceptable where before it started with tip 18,%, for myself 15% much more durable and it was offered. The prices did not increase drastically as one would expect with costs on the rise everywhere it seems there are more improvement and I liked it. My friends and I came here after a movie to grab some food. There was live music however we just got the tail end of it as the singer was finishing up a song. The place wasn't that busy so when we ordered some drinks, it took awhile and they forgot one of our drinks. We have 5 people so it wasn't a large order. It took another 20 minutes before the waitress came to take our food order. I ordered the sirloin tacos, which was decent. It did have lots of meat but only some other stuff, so it tasted more like a beef wrap than a taco. There was some sauce in it but mostly the juices of the meat. This place is loud, even with the patio doors/windows open so I can only imagine how loud it would be for the residents. The wooden panels just echoes all the sounds so it's like being in an enclosed box with blaring music. If it was actually full, I think my friends and I would be screaming at one another, just to hear. I probably won't be back for awhile. read more

I ordered the salad with Brussels sprouts and bacon (swapped out the balsamic for their jalapeño ranch to make it keto) and I have been craving this salad ever since. This spot is pretty large and spacious... what I could see of the decor looked pretty cool...but it can get very busy and loud. and service and drinks were mediocre, at best. I came in a little after the rest of my group.. and the front and waitress saw me come in, but it still took me a long time to get the attention of our server to order a drink. She came upstairs many times and never made her way over to my side of the table nor even did she so much as glance our way... so after about 15-20 minutes of attempting to flag her down, I actually had to go downstairs to find our waitress, who told me to go back upstairs and she would come back up to get my order... When I finally ordered and got my drink another 10-15 minute later, the drink was pretty watered down and then service became non-existant again for the next hour. She did not check in on if the drink was ok nor ask if I wanted to order more food /drinks. Our waitress also didn't offer to bring our bill, so I just walked downstairs to request it and paid it there. To her credit, our group was up and about quite a bit, so it was likely hard to keep track of everything, but seems like in the end, all attempts to try were dismal. Yeah, it was quite chaotic and exhausting actually... A couple things that could have made the experience better is if they were to install a "bell" or something to ring downstairs if we need assistance since getting in/ out from up there can be difficult or... at least have the servers check in a little more often .. and also if they validated parking - at least for an hour or two - that would have been awesome. Since parking is NOT currently validated here, and service times are hit or miss, a parking ticket is highly possible if you don't grossly overestimate the time you'll be there. So for future reference: the restaurant is on the Southeast corner of the building, so take that into consideration when parking - signage downstairs is not very helpful... expect to pay for more parking time than you'd think (especially if you come at night) or be prepared to run downstairs to feed the meter... and happy hour drinks aren't too bad of a deal. At least the parking spots are undercover. read more

It was absolutely amazing for a hot summer afternoon in Vancouver. Lots of food and drinks choices to choose from. I was very impressed by the beer selection. The Lagunitas brew was especially amazing - very fruity and delicious. The food was amazing! I ordered the Bangers and Mash, and the sausage was so juicy and delicious. The appetizers were enormous - especially the fried cauliflower and the fiji curry fries (that curry sauce was great! Absolutely recommended!) Great place to hang out! The place wasn't even packed but the kitchen was "backed up" and it took about 45 minutes to get brussells sprouts and a cottage pie. The pie felt rushed and small for the price. You know those inedible brussells sprouts you ate as a kid which traumatized you for life? Ya that was here. Beautiful interior!!! I work near by and for years we've had no options for lunch. So when we learned that an Irish pub was opening 2 blocks away, we were so excited! The location is so convenient located right at the Marine Gateway station. My coworkers first went the opening week. They had a reservation and were seated in the "library" Today a smaller group of us went for lunch. We were seated right away, and had a comfy booth. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the high detailed ceilings and the red plush bar stools. There was no expensive spared with the furniture and decor. As for the food, most of us were pleased with our orders. There was a daily feature of soup along with a sandwich special for $9.99 (only offered until it's gone). I had the bangers and mash ($16.95) which was a very large portion. It was so good that I ate it all! My friend order the braised cod hot pot ($18.95) which looked delish. The broth was light and yummy and it was served with a variety of seafood all perfectly cooked. My other friend had been before and had ordered the poached prawn salad ($18.95) which she raved about. This time she had the smoked turkey salad ($15.95) and it was just okay. She would order something else next time. Lastly, my other friend had the potato soup ($5.95) and Sriracha whiskey prawns ($13.95), next time she would order the cod hot pot. We did take an hour break, and used all of it. So if you are in need of a quick lunch, you might want to call ahead. The service was very friendly, and we were checked on just the right amount. I will for sure return for lunch, but really looking forward to returning durning none office hours to enjoy a bevy. Been here twice with my boyfriend and we both love it here! Conveniently located at the Marine Gateway station and open until late, this is a go to place after movies! We've tried the Beer Battered Truffle Fries, Baked Crab Dip, and Margherita Flatbread which I highly recommended as shareable appetizers. Soups, salads, and burgers are available as well. They also have a fairly large amount of alcohol available from daily beer specials, cocktails, shooters, flights and ciders so there's something for everyone! Super friendly staff, prompt service,and wait times are reasonable. There is an upstairs dining area as well so service might occur a little less than usual there. They open the outdoor patio for dining in the summer as well. They also do a Wine Wednesday which offers discounted wines! Otherwise I love coming here and can't wait to come back! read more
