This is an interesting space. I do remember the old Irish Heather in Gastown and it is nice to see some form of it survive in Chinatown. The alcohol is somewhat on the pricey side. But I suppose it is not too out of line of many establishments that are not dive bars. I think the location really throws me off there. But my server was wonderful and the place is pretty nice and reminiscent of the old Irish Heather. I'm going to have to come back to try their fish and chips but they do pour a mighty stout Guiness and Irish Whiskey

This is a solid Irish pub in Chinatown. The Guinness was very good and poured correctly. The 'seacuterie' plate was awesome and the curry fries were solid. The corned beef was tender. The Sunday roast plate was kinda disappointing and my FIL didn't like it (I tasted the turkey and it was drier than Oscar Wilde's wit). Overall, the style, the vibe, and the staff is great. I'd come back here.

Love this place and if you are looking for the warmth and personality of an Irish pub in Vancouver please check this place out. We were warmly welcomed from the moment we walked in the door. Every person who worked there was personable and somehow still managed to demonstrate professionalism and warmth. Our bartender Jared was wonderful, efficient and thoughtful. Erin was full of great personality and recommendations and truly understands the celiac aspects of menu so if you need gluten free options the food is really flavorful and they do have a dedicated fryer. We had gluten free fish and chips, the best Reuben sandwich and some wonderful curry fries along with great drinks. Enjoy the ambiance and the food and drinks.

Great atmosphere, lovely waitress and bartender! The Irish Heather Shebeen made me feel like I was in Ireland! 10/10 would recommend!

another fine seán establishment that julia will be frequenting (the other being open outcry!). thank you a for always appeasing to whatever restaurant choice i pick. tho she does say that my choices are often good...i haven't slipped up yet so let's keep it that way. shoutout MUST be given to teagan (spelling?) for being the best server. helpful, fun and attentive but not in a creepy "im watching you" kinda way! there were def some drinks that caught our eye frm the menu. a relived her childhood fav - the shandy! i had a sip and it is very easy on the palate - that lemonade adds a refreshing citrus note to the drink. i, ofc, had the gunpowder & tonic. i had a double, no regrets! then a decided to try the dirty snakebite - ribena makes it dirty and for those who know, you know i ended up having the same as my last drink but only as a half pint - so thank you teagan for informing me of that! was the dirty snakebite as lethal as the menu says - no. it is VERY easy to keep drinking it tho - the ribena adds a subtle sweetness to the drink that makes it that much more palatable. before this drink, i had the peach & orange ketel one spritzer - the peach shines through the whole drink tho not in an artificial way. another easy drink to down - i guess we were on a roll for drinks! now for food! for appies, we had the preserved seafood and posh toast. conservas aka preserved seafood are basically the canned seafood that we see at the stores - obvsly the ones at irish heather are not your run of the mill ones. we had the mejillones en escabeche #130 - smoked mussels. the mussels were smoked to perfection with a nice of hint of char. the toast that came with the dish was on point - not too burnt compared to the posh toast. the mussels were also creamy in the mouth, not something you'd expect frm canned seafood. the posh toast was nice minus the super burnt toast. the spinach and artichoke spread was on point - it almost reminded me of an egg salad spread! then the star main - the stacked corned beef sandwich. i'm sure most know how much i rave abt the corned beef - it was the same quality, same taste and same flavour that i fell in love with. as a and i shared, we added extra corned beef to make a monster corned beef sandwich. that was the best decision along with added the chili cheese to our fries. often cheese sauces can be too salty, it was the opposite in this case! best food/carb coma ever and another go-to pub to add to julia's repertoire

Yesterday I stopped in at the Irish Heather with my spouse, and it was pretty good! I love the atmosphere- it feels like you're stepping out of Vancouver, into Ireland, which is pretty much how I set my bar for Irish pubs, and the Irish Heather passed with flying colors. I had two beer cocktails, a half and half and a shandy, both delicious. The Irish Heather's proprietary lager in the half and half was a pleasant, lighter alternative to a Black and Tan. The shandy was perfect for a summer day, in case summer ever decides to arrive. Service was friendly and hospitable. A slightly broader menu would've made this five stars for me, but pretty good overall!

Great little bar in Gastown. They have an excellent beer menu and also offer whiskey flights. For $20 you can create your own charcuterie board, selecting from the menu two meats and two cheeses, served with your choice of condiments, like fig jam and bread and crackers.

Price/quality (4/4): Still one of the best Irish pubs in the city. Although their menu seems to get less inspired with each iteration, their bangers and mash is still a must-try. The Guinness served here also seems to taste better than the Guinness served in most other places. Service (1/1): Friendly, effective service. Food usually shows up quickly enough even on busy nights. Would I go there again: YES

Looking for a place to relax and let traffic die down, I ended up at this Irish pub. It was great being greeted by a friendly bartender with an Irish accent. I sat at the bar and realized the bartender was not the only lad with an Irish accent, some of the customers had one as well. I decided to try a pint of Guinness and fish and chips. The bartender did a great job pouring the Guinness. It was not to fast or to slow. It tasted fantastic. The fish was very tasty, crisp outside and moist inside. Great flavor. The inside is not very large therefore it would be difficult for large parties. Will be back next time I come to Vancouver.

Have had been by twice in the past couple of months, once for a late night snack with the girls and most recently for dinner with my kid before the hockey game. I'm celiac and dairy intolerant so their ability to provide safe food is appreciated (gluten free deep fried). Fish and chips were amazing, their charcuterie and seacuterie boards have a good selection and are great to share. Bar sure does know how to mix a cocktail.

Found this place randomly. Normally you'd imagine that the bars would be more along Water or Cordova streets, but on the sides there are still good watering holes. Parking here is horrendous. Just a heads up. The inside is delightfully Irish. They really do a good job of keeping the "old" look here, with the worn (but classy) interior. The chairs are made of hard-looking aluminum (I think of them as a taller version of the ones you see in interrogation rooms in movies) but they were actually quite comfortable. The bartender was a real deal Irish guy, and he was actually pretty entertaining to talk to. Nice guy for sure. There was a 3 person band playing at a table. Initially I thought they were guests. One harmonica, one banjo, and one keyboard if I recall correctly. On the walls are many old-style posters praising Ireland, as well as some Guinness ads. The wall of whiskies here really is something. Definitely one of the larger collections I have ever seen in one place, though I'm no connoisseur. With that said, there were plenty of non-whisky drinks as well. My friends and I focused on the mixed drinks part. I had a Shandy, which is beer mixed with lemonade. This one was surprisingly good. I can recommend it to the ladies. The other drink on my radar is the Guinness & Black (the "black" being Ribena blackcurrent). Anything with blackcurrent is awesome. Though it's not quite up my alley, the Shebeen would be a place to be if you're into your whiskey.

We had Good food (the corned beef sandwich was better than NYC), good service and good whisky bar. Don't let the location scare you.

Beautiful and large outdoor seating but we sat inside. I took my partner and his parents here on Saturday afternoon, April 4th and the service was awful. And I want to recognize this might be due to it's majnly tavern. Its known for serving drinks and having a large patio to stop, sit, and have a cold one. And it does have a full food menu so I thought we could have some food. It even has brunch. I was surprised. My parents are older and ordered coffee when the server first greeted us. We ordered our food shortly after. The beer my partner ordered was given quickly along with my iced tea. Food came out but wasn't given by server. We paid $15.00 for an extra side that was apparently put into the dish itself which felt odd. We asked for another side and the waitress covered it which was amazing. We requested some other items and waited. Our server completely forgot about the coffee and didn't bring out requested items until after our food was finished. And the side was painful small for the price. The server rarely checked on us and was incredibly nice and understanding when we did interact with her. I recognize Gastown is very $$$ and I'm surprised this restaurant/bar sells food. I didn't have a great experience with the amount of money we paid and the service we got. We will not be going back on our next visit Canada. Maybe later one we will try again and only order drinks.

Their "brunch burger" is a major missed opportunity though... this really should have a fried egg on it. You could possibly add an egg from the ala carte section of the menu, but those cost $3, so you'd be looking at $27 for a burger and a half a cup of fried potatoes. That's insanely expensive. Currently the brunch burger has two small patties which have a tendency to overcook and become dry. My patties were well-done despite me asking for medium - don't even ask if the kitchen can't deliver. Not sure what makes that a brunch burger, but it would be much better if those two patties were combined into one, and a fried egg was added, while staying below a $24 price point expensive burgers in Vancouver. Other restaurants can do it.... Oh, the other disappointing thing is that the card reader defaults to tips at 18, 25, and 28%. Not cool - we already pay servers high wages in BC, tipping should be 10% if not eliminated altogether. 28%? No thanks!

We sat on the outside patio, it was heated and had nice views. I ordered the sweet chili bowl and it was delicious, fresh, and healthy. Instead of coconut rice i substituted the rice for salad. We arrived without a reservation but it wasn't needed as this place is huge and had quite a few tables available. We were seated quickly at a nice booth and proceeded to place our order. I had the Tuna Niçoise Salad and my friend had the Tuna Poke Bowl. I was actually torn between these two options so when the food arrived, we both tried each other's meal to see how the two compared. They were both really good but I really enjoyed my salad and much preferred it over the poke bowl. Ironically, the tuna in the poke bowl was much better seasoned than the tuna in the salad, but I just really loved all the other ingredients in the salad more. I think a sprinkle of some flaked salt would have made the salad perfect but there were a few salty components like the olives, to help offset the almost bland flavour of the tuna. It had a perfect sear and I loved the crust on it. The salad itself had a very nice light dressing on it, which surprisingly, I really liked. I'm not normally a fan of salad dressing but this one was really tasty. The restaurant was busy but not at capacity so even though there were a lot of people talking, it wasn't too loud so we could still have a conversation without having to shout at each other. Overall, I would absolutely return and order this dish again and would also order the poke bowl on a future visit.
