Totchos, Quesadilla, and Mac & Cheese

Reservations: They don't take reservations on game nights, so I recommend getting here early! We got a table easily around 4 PM before the Canucks game on a Friday, but by 5 PM the estimated wait for walk-ins was quite long Location: Conveniently close to Rogers Arena and the area feels safe to walk around Service: Exceptional! The servers and bartender were all really nice and accommodating. They did not rush us out at all despite the crowds and we were able to eat and have several drinks before we headed over to the game. We always had our drinks refilled and the food came out timely and fresh. Ambiance: This place has a great vibe! There are several TV's to watch games, and there are plenty of tables with a long bar. It's lively but not too loud. What we ordered: DRINKS Old Fashioned, Sidecar, Kentucky Mule-- all great, strong drinks with Happy Hour prices! They had a really large menu of drinks, especially for Beer and Whiskey lovers FOOD Mac & Cheese-- huge portion of pasta with delicious cheese sauce and panko bread crumbs. The sauce has a kick to it! Totchos-- another huge portion, the tater tots were great- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cheesy sauce, jalapenos, and banana peppers together had a kick but these were hard to stop eating! Smoked Brisket Quesadilla-- a generous portion of flavorful smoked brisket with melty mozzarella and cheddar, corn, and black beans. Served with sour cream. All together highly recommend!

We came in for lunch for fathers day weekend. The ambiance of the place is great. Lots of TVs to watch games. However, the servers were not very attentive and we ordered the BBQ platter for 4 (for 2 elderly who do not eat very much and 2 women) and it was just enough. Food wise, we liked the pulled pork, the brisket and the tots. But the ribs and wings were dry, and the corn bread was a bit burned, soggy and crazy dense. Definitely do not order the corn bread to save yourself the disappointment.

Awesome BBQ spot downtown, if you're going with a group I highly recommend the platter. Lots of food with a big variety from the menu at a reasonable price. Delicious!

This used to be a whiskey bar so I was a bit disappointed it no longer is. We tried their beer flight. Large selection to choose from. Waitress was a bit abrupt but it was late and maybe a long day. The vibe was ok. Not sure if I'd go back there again on purpose.

Hoyne Dark Matter Ale, smoked chicken wings, poutine with smoked brisket added

This is a pub that also specializes in BBQ. I had to try the poutine since I hadn't had a chance yet during this trip. Wow, the poutine was good! I had smoked brisket added to mine. (This is a BBQ joint after all) The fries were cooked perfectly... plenty of crunch to stand up to the gravy. The bacon and brisket were a great addition. I'm no poutine expert, but this one was great. We also ordered the smoked chicken wings. They had a very nice deep smoke flavor that complemented the house made buffalo sauce we chose. There are other interesting sauce choices available for the wings, including an intriguing dry rub. Tried a locally brewed dark ale... Hoyne Dark Matter. That, too, was fantastic. There was a wide variety of beers and ubiquitous IPAs available. If you like a dark ale or porter or even a stout, try that Hoyne. The bar tender was very friendly as well. All around, a great experience... I wish this place was in Los Angeles so I could go again.

BBQ Sharing Platters with tater tots and mac'n cheese cornbread on the side

Came here as a group of two on weekend night. Friend decided to try this place as last time he was in the area, everything was sold out. Must be good right? Once seated, we looked around the menu. Wow, the price looks really steep, have I been staying inside too long or something?? Not feeling beer that day, and cocktail was $14, so I decided to skip alcohol. Decided to order the BBQ SHARING PLATTERS for 2 which cost $55. We picked tater tots and mac'n cheese cornbread as the sides. Everything was dry except the pulled pork, which is super soggy, and the sausage (you can't mess this up). The sauce on the rib was pretty good, but not enough to mask the super dry rib. In summary, below average food, steep price, even the best service could never carry. Service that day was whatever, sometimes the server forgot to fill our water. Will never come back :))

April 25/2022: Dinner w Wendy at the Grocery Show. This was a fantastic meal. I had the Louisiana Chicken with Mac & Cheese & Baked Beans. The chicken was absolutely delicious & perfectly cooked. The Mac & Cheese was amazing & the baked beans were interesting. The had a sweet/sour taste & had pineapple in it! All was just too delicious! Go to this restaurant! It's well worth it!

I hate writing 1 star reviews, and if you look at my profile, you'll see they are extremely rare (less than 1%). I also, don't review immediately after, unless it was amazing, or terrible. In this case things went south. Been here many times. Love the BBQ, and that's what we came for. Things started off really well. Service was great, and BBQ was great as usual. Around 10pm though, things deteriorated. 10pm is 2 whole hours before closing time, so I don't know what the rush was, but the staff really started to make it clear that they wanted to clear out the place asap. We were not planning on staying much longer anyway, but the pressure to pay and leave really became unbearable. So, we left quickly, but certainly not happily.

Pork Back Rib with Coleslaw and House Salad

Be good to your server, the devil's watching! This was on their wall and it actually makes sense! Great selection of craft beer Exquisite smoked chicken wings! Full rack Pork Back Rib was crazy!

I am amazed at the BBQ here. So a colleague told me that they are famous for their ribs (I am not sure about that). I got their BBQ ribs and it was so smoky tasting. I mean it was not saucy but nor was it dry either. So the BBQ ribs is a full rack of ribs with 2 sides for $25. I got the mac and cheese and frites to go along with it. Everything yummy. The ketchup which looked like dangerous hot sauce was really tasty. It is homemade style ketchup (not the Heinz cheap stuff). I love that ketchup because it has a nice sweet kick to it. I was told that their whisky flat is really good but super expensive. Will only get if someone else is paying for it or maybe at a company event one day. But again I don't really drink. The smoke house is small inside. I managed to get the last table at the right time when I arrived (just before 6pm). Remember to come early. Definitely yummy ribs.

I was craving BBQ! We wanted a place that had a decent happy hour and a great beer selection. We were seated at a window seat which was tucked into a little nook in the restaurant so it was nice and private. Table was a bit sticky which threw me off bit but was wiped promptly. We had the smoked wings, cauliflower bites, pulled pork sandwich and the beef Brisket sandwich with crispy brussel sprouts on the side. The cauliflower bites were decent, a great portion. It would be great if all the pieces would be bite size. Some were huge, others bite size. The wings were great, you get that smokiness as soon as you take the first bite. Pulled pork was ok, nothing that was outstanding and I thought it would be better since this was a BBQ place. Beef Brisket was good, above average but again it needed something to take it up a notch. Overall this place is ok. Service was very good. Server was attentive.

Just really disappointing and underwhelming. The food and drinks were subpar, and our waitress seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else.

Parking in front is limited, but there are nearby spots within walking distance. Shoutout to Megan for being so welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. The place was clean, including the restrooms, and there were plenty of food and drink options. I had the beef tacos. I think I came in with high expectations, but they were still good. The meat was a little dry, the sauce wasn't as spicy as I expected, and the tortilla tended to fall apart, but overall I still loved them and would come back again. Burger and nachos were both 10/10! Great local spot with excellent service :) def coming back again.

Beautiful and large outdoor seating but we sat inside. I took my partner and his parents here on Saturday afternoon, April 4th and the service was awful. And I want to recognize this might be due to it's majnly tavern. Its known for serving drinks and having a large patio to stop, sit, and have a cold one. And it does have a full food menu so I thought we could have some food. It even has brunch. I was surprised. My parents are older and ordered coffee when the server first greeted us. We ordered our food shortly after. The beer my partner ordered was given quickly along with my iced tea. Food came out but wasn't given by server. We paid $15.00 for an extra side that was apparently put into the dish itself which felt odd. We asked for another side and the waitress covered it which was amazing. We requested some other items and waited. Our server completely forgot about the coffee and didn't bring out requested items until after our food was finished. And the side was painful small for the price. The server rarely checked on us and was incredibly nice and understanding when we did interact with her. I recognize Gastown is very $$$ and I'm surprised this restaurant/bar sells food. I didn't have a great experience with the amount of money we paid and the service we got. We will not be going back on our next visit Canada. Maybe later one we will try again and only order drinks.

Their "brunch burger" is a major missed opportunity though... this really should have a fried egg on it. You could possibly add an egg from the ala carte section of the menu, but those cost $3, so you'd be looking at $27 for a burger and a half a cup of fried potatoes. That's insanely expensive. Currently the brunch burger has two small patties which have a tendency to overcook and become dry. My patties were well-done despite me asking for medium - don't even ask if the kitchen can't deliver. Not sure what makes that a brunch burger, but it would be much better if those two patties were combined into one, and a fried egg was added, while staying below a $24 price point expensive burgers in Vancouver. Other restaurants can do it.... Oh, the other disappointing thing is that the card reader defaults to tips at 18, 25, and 28%. Not cool - we already pay servers high wages in BC, tipping should be 10% if not eliminated altogether. 28%? No thanks!
