Tasty but pretty expensive food truck. Came across this in Port Moody by Rocky Point Park…read more They only really have a few items. Of course everyone goes for the brisket. I must say it was nice and juicy. With that said, wow it's pricy. The "Vancouver's Best Cornbread" is a pretty tall claim, but this place delivers. The cornbread is suprisingly moist and sweet. Of course, try not to think about the ingredients. Definitely worth trying. Pretty solid food if one has deep enough pockets. Recommended.

Pretty good for Canada. The bar for Texas, Carolina or really any US regional style BBQ is pretty…read morelow in British Columbia. Maybe it's better in the prairies but here I've find it hard to find either beef or pork cooked right with most it either being dry, unseasoned or undersmoked. The big plus for Rosie's is they actually seem to know how to cook brisket using fatty cuts and smoking it long enough to breakdown the connective tissue without it getting mushy. It could have been smoked even longer but it was probably the best I've had in BC. They don't have burnt ends and at least the server I dealt with didn't seem to know what they are. They at least know you never serve Texas BBQ with sauce on it. It's expensive for BBQ which seems to be standard in Canada with 18 dollars for just 1/2 a pound but it's good enough I'll pay it. They didn't ask if I wanted lean or fatty which is traditional in BBQ joints. I found the pulled pork to not be as good. It didn't have the flavour or moistness that I expect especially compared to the South Carolina pulled pork that I prefer and eat when visiting family there. Also it looks more chopped than pulled. If that is Vancouver's best cornbread I'm guessing the bar for cornbread is pretty low too. It's too sweet. Cornbread is a savory dish. The moistness was good. This would be bog standard Q in Austin or Charleston but for Vancouver it's very very good.

We went out to Embers in Mission for dinner last night. It took over ownership of Mission Horse…read moreand they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They operate as Mission Horse for breakfast and lunch and it changes to Embers for dinner in the evening. We've gone for breakfast since it changed ownership and breakfast is still good. The dinner was a disaster. We were the only customers there and after our meal I can understand why. I've read other reviews and I concur with their comments. I had 12 chicken wings and a small order of French fries and my husband had the half rack of ribs. I waited over 30 minutes for my order of chicken wings and fries (I think our waitress forgot to put in the order as my husband's food arrived before mine). My husband's 1/2 rack of ribs was the smallest that I've ever seen. The ribs were not very meaty and there were 6 ribs maximum on the order. I would guess that it was on 6 or 8 oz. of meat covered in what tasted like a bottled barbecue sauce. We had to ask for silverware. I had a can of pop and had to ask for a glass to drink it in. She disappeared and never came out with the glass. I went to the kitchen and asked them for a glass. My husband asked for a refill on the coffee and after waiting l0 minutes I got up and started towards the Kitchen to get the coffee. Our waitress finally appeared with the coffee at this time. It's unfortunate because the breakfasts are good but to spend 1 1/2 hrs for dinner at a diner is unacceptable. My husband told our server that we were very disappointed in the level of service and explained that he was not leaving a tip because we received no service. I hate to see what the service would have been like if there were more customers. It is a very small casual restaurant

Food is alright. I like that the don't serve alcohol. Not my favorite place or location.read more

The Case of the Missing Fish…read more I had my salmon and halibut shipped from the fishing lodge back in June. There is an expected processing time of 6-8 weeks. Around 7 weeks my father got a call from St. Jean's arranging for his catch to be shipped to him. I called to find out about the status of my order and they had no record of my shipment. I gave them my invoice number and it wasn't in their system. After a few weeks someone at the cannery finally found my fish and it hadn't been processed yet because of some issue with my order. Was anyone ever going to contact me and work out those issues? When they finally found my fish there were a few salmon missing. To be honest I don't know if this was an issue with the cannery or the fishing lodge. After another few weeks of calls between the lodge and cannery they found a few fish to help make up some of the order. The lodge sent additional fish and I awaited word from the cannery. After another few weeks I called and lo and behold they had received the shipment and they said they would be calling me the next week to arrange shipment. Guess what? Yep! No calls back. Another two weeks pass and I call asking to speak to a Supervisor. He's not in so I get his voicemail. I leave a message and time passes. Today, one-two weeks after the voice mail and I call again and the Supervisor is out for the next two days. I am assured that my message will be hand delivered and I will be contacted as soon as he gets back. Stay tuned to see if I actually talk to someone and if I will ever actually receive my fish. (I will update review when and if there is a resolution to my saga.) I'm not holding my breath.

Very friendly help, patient as you learn about the weights and styles. I can't wait to get our order, it is one of the more expensive places for salmon smoking, but the only place I found locally that does hot/dry smoke.
