We stopped in and ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a corn and ribs, plus our kiddo's go-to mac and cheese (no breadcrumbs, of course). The food itself is always solid--our little one especially loves the mac, and it's consistently a hit. We've been here a few times, and every single time the place is packed... with only one person working. That means the service is slow and the vibe can get a little chaotic. You can tell the staff member is doing their absolute best, but it's definitely more than one person can realistically handle. We've been staying in Glacier all week and knew for sure that we'd have to try Gunners before heading home. We showed up around 5:30 on a Friday night. We were seated promptly and service was friendly. My first recommendation is to not come here when you're already really hungry because everything on the menu looks absolutely delicious. It's hard to pick something when you have to choose between brisket and tacos and smash burgers. I also appreciated that they had a kids menu for the little guys with a couple different things to choose from that weren't cheese pizza and buttered noodles - they have chicken strips, a sandwich with choice of meat, or a burger with one side for $12. My kids each got the chicken strips and french fries and they were great. They each got two large chicken strips and some very delicious french fries - like the double battered kind. Super good. My eight-year-old son wanted the guac, but my husband and I wanted the queso so we ordered both. I really wish we would have been told that the guac is spicy. It's clearly made with jalapeno, Serrano, or other spicy pepper. The server did know it was for our kid but didn't mention anything and the menu didn't either. Well, he took one bite of it and his mouth was on fire. He was pretty distressed and wouldn't touch any more of it. My husband and I both tasted it after that, and agreed that was indeed quite spicy, and while I love spicy and often purposely seek out spicy foods, it was WAY too spicy for a little kid who wasn't expecting it. I feel like that should be noted on the menu. We were also really looking forward to the queso, but it never came. We let the server know, and she took it off our bill. Our entrées came out while they were $28 each (a $1 upcharge for the burnt ends), the quality was very good. Some of the sides are very heavy on cilantro so if that's not your thing, just be aware of it. The Charro beans are smoky and adding the Carolina barbecue sauce made them perfect. I wanted the Brussels sprouts that were on the menu but they are apparently seasonal and were not available (another bummer for me - I LOVE Brussels) but they had the Elote instead which wasn't on the menu but was seen in Yelp photos. It was interesting and also very good. All in all everything was high-quality and delicious, and I have to say this is the first place that I've been to where every single sauce knocked it out of the park. My favorites were the Carolina Vinegar and the Chipotle BBQ. On top of that, my rosemary lemon drop was perfect. It did start getting a little busier later in the meal, so I had to flag someone down to get more water, but that wasn't a big deal. Gunner's is definitely a good spot in the area. Came here on a busy weekday night and had to wait 30 mins to be seated. Since there was only one server, it took a bit longer for the tables to be cleared. Our server was great and she did her best to make sure that we were taken care of. The food itself was subpar and inconsistent. My friend ordered burnt ends and they were completely dry and hard to chew whereas the ones we ordered were fine! The brisket was also pretty dry and definitely needed extra bbq sauce. The potato salad was very creamy and the brussel sprouts were great! However the price and quality of the food is what brings my rating down. We came to Mt Baker for the weekend and there aren't that many options around. But we found gunners and it was ok?? I got the two meat plate with brisket, brisket burnt ends with fries and elote corn as my sides. The plate also comes with a cornbread. The brisket burnt ends is just brisket in thick cubes. The brisket is kind of dry and not as tender as other brisket I've had. But the cornbread was not that sweet and crumbly. I liked it. The elote corn was also delicious. I got to try their brisket, pulled pork, pork spare ribs, charro beans, baked potato salad, elote, and onion rings. The meat had good flavors, but the brisket was a bit dry, so I highly recommend using their sauces. I especially liked the spare ribs; they were tender and flavorful. The onion rings were really good--crispy without the onions inside being over-fried, so the onions stayed succulent. I enjoyed the baked potato salad, though the elote could use more seasoning. Has a regular seating in the main room, some high tops in the smaller room with the bar, and also some outdoors seating. Pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon as tired hikers, cyclists etc. were driving out of the mountains. Small menu of some drinks, starters, sides, and barbecued meat plates, sandwiches, and tacos. I got the one meat plate with the pork spare ribs. The plate comes with choice of two sides and cornbread. I got two meaty spareribs. Meat has a the decent smokey flavor. Firm texture but not chewy at all, and bone comes off easily. There's a choice of three BBQ sauces on the table to sauce up the ribs. The cornbread is muffin shaped, and tasted like normal cornbread. As for the sides, I got the mac'n cheese, which was cheesy enough. Also got the elote, which is a whole cob of corn with a lot of cheese, seasoning and cilantro on top. Super flavorful, and the ears of corn come off the cob pretty easily. The corn was my favorite thing from the plate. We visited Gunners a couple of weeks ago and twice last summer. We enjoyed the meals at all our visits. Last time I had the tri-tip and it was moist and delicious as was my husband's pork. I rarely leave reviews anymore but this place motivated me to awake from my yelp hiatus. Such an unexpected delight in the middle of nowhere. Rivals any bbq in Seattle - I know that doesn't say too much but it's as good as Jacks BBQ if you are familiar. In some ways, dare I say better?! We ordered burnt ends (brisket and pork), ribs, elote, beans, potato salad, Mac n cheese, and queso. The only thing I can't recommend is the queso - slightly grainy and you are better off saving room for the bbq. The burnt ends and ribs had the perfect crust and texture. It could have been served a bit hotter but it had no bearing on how absolutely delicious it was. The sides were also great. The elote was the best I've ever had and my husband thought the potato salad was the best he's ever had. Beans were also not to be missed - just the right amount of kick and flavor. We also ordered cucumber jalapeños margaritas - not too sweet or spicy, everything just worked. Do yourself a favor and order a double. Highly recommend coming here. I've been to Gunner's around four times already, each time it was delicious and just keeps getting better. Portions are large, priced well, and meats are smoked fresh. Have liked trying all the sides, and really like the mild spice kick some of their items have (like elote). Very happy to have Gunner's in town - they recently added a local Mexican lager that was great to see. Heliotrope was my favorite restaurant from Glacier to Bellingham to Seattle and I was sad to see it close - but am excited to hopefully enjoy Gunner's for a long time to come! Also when you're visiting the area - be patient and kind to the servers. It's a small mountain town that gets busy from tourist traffic - this isn't fast food, don't be in a hurry. All I can say is, WOW! The reviews are accurate this place is no joke. My husband I got both got the two meat plates which works with tacos as well and you get two sides. Service was fantastic, and they were very attentive which was impressive as it was pretty busy! I loved the outdoor space it is great and we will be back with friends, love the fireplace tables! Cute restaurant but had some issues with the food and the service. There appeared to be one server trying to do the whole restaurant. We never got refills on things. The food was not very good. I ordered the butternut squash tacos which were good and the elote which was not edible. The corn appeared over cooked on the cob and had so much chili powder on it that it choked me when I tried to eat it. The meats were good but the sides were not. It is one of the few options open nearby so I would stick with just the meats if you are going to go. read more

I have no idea what that one negative review is all about, but this place is amazing! We were warmly greeted when we entered and service was quick and friendly. My wife is vegan and it is indeed a rare occasion when we go to restaurant and are both blown away with the food AND service! I had the 2 meat platter with baked potato salad and elote and all was incredible. My wife had the butternut squash tacos with elote and they even now have a vegan crema which they added to the tacos and elote. She was amazed.
