Went here looking for the amazing salad they have pictured in the reviews. It no longer exists. They also don't have guacamole or avocados at all. The restaurant smells like heavy cleaning detergents so we sat outside. The waitress was very friendly and the staff seemed nice. The red salsa was super hot and had a vinegar flavor too it .... Maybe a bit old? I'd asked to have the creme sauce for my fish tacos on the side, but it seemed like they didn't want to ask the kitchen to do that? So .... The fish on the fish tacos was thin, breaded and deep fried .... Is that normal, maybe... Anyway, the experience was mediocre at best. read more

The chosen venue for a late-afternoon dinner during or stay in Harrison last week. We arrived shortly after 4 pm, and asked to be seated outside on their attached patio. A nice setting. Our server was prompt in initial service of menus, but way too quick in seeking our orders. Heh, we had just sat down, and received menus. I asked for a little time to peruse what she had just brought. Service throughout the rest of the meal was fine, once I had settled down some of that initial anxiousness. And it was always friendly throughout our stay. We received two menus - a limited option 'happy hour' one, and the regular (main) one, which listed all the food and beverage offerings. Our order: from the happy hour menu - two beverages (Sleeman Honey Brown Lagers, for daughter and I), and Rio wings -- and from the rgular menu - three spicy chickem=n tacos, and beef brisket burrito. Food preparations were definitely flavourful and tasty, but 'ouch', more than just a touch too spicy hot. We would sure prefer, and appreciate having them serve their very hot & spicy sauces out of the preparations, alongside the meal, to be added as the customer wished (as we have experienced at taco stands and restaurants in Mexico). The beer and wings sure hit the spot -- the other preparations missed the mark. A fun dining experience, but service was a little awkward, and the food preparations fell a touch short for us this time. read more

What a tasty surprise! My friend and I just happened to see this spot on Yelp when we were hungry and in the area and it definitely surpassed our expectations! Our server was incredibly sweet and friendly, the food was delicious, the jalapeño margaritas were dangerous (I wanted 3 more but had to drive back to vancouver so I kept it to 1...) and the churros were the best I've ever tasted! As someone who's lived in Mexico, I do have to say that the meals felt like a much more "Americanized" version of Mexican food, as opposed to being super authentic, but it was still delicious and I'd happily go back! read more

Food was alright, wouldn't recommend the beans as they don't seem like your typical refried beans. The beef in the beef burrito was pretty tasty. Salsa/ guac and chips was pretty good. Wasn't too keen on the service though. Not a lot of people in the restaurant, yet it took an hour for the chips n dip. Very shortly after our food came out. Taco "rio terrible" We gave these guys two shots as we really wanted a taco place near, ended up wasting my money 2x. First time we had the pork burrito, chicken burrito and the kids had a beef and a fish taco. It was edible but really bland with no real flavor. The second time we ordered the shrimp tacos. The soft corn tortillas were so old and stale we couldn't even chew through them, we ended up eating the contents but once again, bland. Very, very bland. I've never seen food look as good as theirs does and have it turn out to be so awful. Also the older man they have at the front desk is one incredibly odd man with no customer service or real social abilities and you can't call in your order.. you legit have to go there, order and then sit in your car until its ready as they have no dine in either. Great food and customer service. The young gentleman was super friendly. With such a positive attitude. He really made us feel welcome and motivated to come back. We got the crispy chicken tacos and the Triple Threat quesidillas. All of the food was super tasty. I like spicy food whereas my bf can't handle spicy. So it was a pretty good balance. The tacos had a bit of a kick. The quesidillas were tasty and had a nice flavor. They would have been perfect if I had a side of some hot sauce or some spicy salsa. It may have been a bad night, but many things did not go well for our dinner. Much of the food was missing flavour and included the fish tacos, beef short rib, and refried beans. After sharing about the refried bean's lack of flavour, the waitress suggested other sides, which we chose from. Upon checking out, we were charged for all 3 sides totaling $15, with a "generous" $0.50 discounted. More money was spent getting a replacement appetizer... and it was discounted a measly 4%. The waitress was pleasant when AT the table, but could have been more attentive. We needed to leave the table and look for the waitress at the kitchen to share that the food lacking flavour. I've been wanting to go for quite along time. Tonight the husband was out so I took my daughter for dinner. We live in Rosedale only 12 mins away. First impressions is that it is very casual. We sat outside and did not have to wait to long. We both ordered a margarita. It was very good. Dinner was the beef taco and crispy chicken taco. I did ask the waitress if the chicken was thigh or breast. She said I don't know? You think she would of inquired? She said do you want cheese on both of the meals? We said sure. We didn't wait long. My daughters meal was okay. Mine was awful. Chicken taco served in a meat tray lined with parchment. It was messy and soggy and dripping with all kinds of sauce and salsa everywhere. I had to try and eat with utensils. Well that didn't work well as the parchment paper got soggy and become part of my meal! I was disgusted. Left most behind cause who wants to eat parchment paper! We got the bill. Both meals were $20 each. No problem but to charge $4.50 each for a sprinkle of cheese was crazy! Subway doesn't even charge that! I questioned the waitress and she says again I do t know‍. Will never be back and won't recommend to anyone I know. Waitress was awful. Didn't give a care about her customers. My friends and I decided to go for dinner here since we all love Mexican food and the restaurant appealed to us since it has a trendy feel. Unfortunately we all had a bad experience. They had no chicken, which is what most of us planned to get; getting this knowledge before we sat down would have been preferred. As well if you are going with a group, they don't split the cost of appetizers, meaning one person has to pay. We ordered chips and guac for the table which were delicious but left us feeling awkward when we had to pick one person to pay for the rest of us. Had we split it with the group it would have been about $2-3 each. None of us carry cash so we couldn't even pay back our friend that paid for all of us. Our server also messed up our bills, but she sorted it out. The food however was delicious, I recommend the pork. read more

Not at all impressed. Soggy fish taco, could hardly find the small piece of fish in the sloppy mess. Shrimp was overdone in the shrimp taco..so crunchy that it was hard to tell where the tail ended & the shrimp began. Meat in the burrito was over cooked & crunchy. Server insisted that we needed cheese on everything, but no mention anywhere of the upcharge. If there was cheese in the tacos, it must have been liquefied as it was unidentifiable. Lime margarita tasted far too sweet, tasted like pineapple juice served in an old-fashion glass filled mostly with ice cubes. Discolored, grungy looking aluminum mini-cookie sheets did not add anything positive to the dining experience. read more

Awesome place! Me and my wife stopped by for a quick bite and were thoroughly impressed. Our server "Cynthia" (I believe that's her name) was super nice and made us feel welcome. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I used to love Taco Rio but the service has declined and the burritos keep getting smaller each time. We called a few weeks ago at 7:35pm to place an order and we're declined because they closed at 8pm. It was very unfortunate. I like to give places the benefit of the doubt, so we will try again as we live local and I like supporting local businesses. read more

We are NEVER disappointed going here...Except when they were all out of churros for the night one evening but that was disappointment due to not getting a taste of their Amazing churros and Dulce hahaha.
