first of all, the prices were absolutely insane for what you got. 3 soft tacos for 24$? the most tasteless bland mexican food i think i have ever tried in my life. the fiesta nachos looked like goop and slop the bottom of the plate made my stomach turn ... my guacamole and chips tasted like it was from a convenience store at best. very cute place and servers were nice. i expected so much more but left hungry and the most disappointed i've ever been at a restaurant. i don't know how you f$&! up mexican food that bad. there was four of us and no one liked anything. 120$ (before tip) for 4 ppl and i only got chips n guac with water biggest waste of our money. no photos because we got served with dissapointment lol read more

A day out in Chilliwack and the hangry pants were starting to make their presence known in out vehicle of four. On our way back from a lake, we passed a cute little Mexican place that had patio seating and we unanimously decided, Mexican was for lunch. Our table ordered a Corona, Hibiscus Margarita, Pina Colada, Burrito, Mix and Match tacos, and a Hugo Bowl. Lucky for us, we were there during Happy Hour. some cocktails were $9, the Mix and Match 3 tacos and Hugos Bowl were both $16.50. They give the table a bowl of chips and salsa which was a nice start with our drinks. I found that some of the vegetarian tacos were not as seasoned as I'd like and tasted a little bland. Other than that, service was good. It's a small venue, and we had to wait outside for them to clean up a table for us to sit at. Everyone was very attentive and food came pretty quickly. read more

The food was great! Give this place a try if you're craving some Mexican food. We loved the chips and guacamole, and the three different salsas added some variety. I had the strawberry horchata, which was a little more like strawberry milk, but it was still delicious! For my entree had the mix and match tacos (chicken tinga, Al pastor and beef barbacoa) the beef barbacoa was a little spicier than the other two but all three tacos were delicious and filling. This is a small but nice looking spot within chilliwack. It is modern, filled with colour and the staff are friendly. I went with family for lunch, and there was a wide enough selection for all of us to find something we enjoyed. They have vegan options as well including multiple "meat" options vegetable and soy based. I got the burrito bowl, and after asking the server what they would recommend as a meat alternative for a vegan dish they recommend getting the cauliflower. I did get the cauliflower but sadly it was not what I had anticipated, and it seemed to be over cooked and the only taste was oil. The cauliflower was dark brown as though it was old or the oil was not clean. I am unsure if this was a one time occurrence or not as this was our first visit. In comparison those with me got tacos of the meat varieties and enjoyed them. If I am to return I would be interested in trying their other meat alternatives. read more

We ordered the Tacos Al Pastor, Beef Barbacoa Huarache and Churros. Loves the barbacoa for sure! Pickled onions just gives that acid with the crema and lovely stewed beef. Tacos al pastor pulled pork was nice and soft. Wished the pineapple were diced down instead of whole cubes but taste great still. Love churros normally and it was the first thing we ordered but disappointed it was doughy in the centre. It was perfectly crispy on the outside tho but the centre missed the mark. This establishment should be ashamed of the state of its bathrooms and cleanliness in general. I took my toddler in to use it and I was shocked at the state. I'm not talking a few messy customers used it before us, I'm talking pure filth. Months of filth. It made it very difficult to eat our meals after experiencing that. If that's the state of their washroom, I can only imagine the kitchen. Our table was so dirty it was sticky and had gunk stuck all over. The taco loca was greasy. Bland. Food is over priced for what it is. Service is terrible. Save your money and hit up Fiesta loca a bit farther down the road, amazing quality, service and you won't catch a staph infection. read more

I'm confused, I've eaten at Hugo's in Sardis & the food was incredible, so tonight we decided to try the new location downtown....... the drinks we good the service fantastic but the food was ??? My husband had the steak tacos , and it was just that, a few pieces of diced steak on 3 flour tortillas & no garnish. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of dining at Hugo's with a friend of mine. The parking lot is small but we were there in the evening so it was pretty empty. The food was great the service was acceptable and the pricing competitive. This afternoon, I attempted to take my wife out for a lunch date there but the total lack of disabled parking caused us to look elsewhere to tickle our tastebuds. We ended up down the road at Fiesta Loca and I'm pleased that we did. It's great to have options for good Mexican fare in Chilliwack. Hugo's needs to address the lack of disabled accessibility though. That was disappointing. read more

Went for the first time tonight. Great atmosphere and excellent service ! A lot of things on the menu sounded great it was hard to decide. We had the Fundito for an appetizer, I had 3 assorted Tacos can't remember what my husband's meal was called. They piled on the meat! Great place if you are looking for a Mexican cuisine fix! This place has improved a lot since I first came here. The churro ice-cream sandwich is a must have! It is delicious and I always order one when I drop by. We went here for Dinner on my wife's birthday. The food was fresh and hot but we found that it lacked flavour. My Hugo bowl was too small of a portion and wasn't filling and I had to add the salsa from our chips to give it some heat but even then was extremely bland. We decided to chase dinner with some fresh Churros and they tasted like deep fried Playdoh, someone dumped an excessive amount of salt in them and they were not enjoyable at all. Our food came out before our drinks and even another table that came in after us they got their food before we got our drinks (there was only three tables in the entire restaurant at the time with two servers) but you can tell she forgot to ring our drinks because I had to remind her about it so it's been 15 min wait for a drink. Food was cold and chewy, cauliflower tacos were cold tasted old and mushy. Watching the bartender just pour a pre made marg mix for the happy hour marg thankfully k didn't order that. This had been our go to Mexican restaurant in Chilliwack for several years. Portion size is just right (I hate it when restaurants fill the plate with rice and fluff and call it big portions!). We've been coming to Hugo's since the gas station days. Totally understand the prices going up to pay the rent but sadly their prices have doubled since adding more staff (more staff than customers tonight) The food is still good, but it's dropped in small ways that only regulars would notice. We will still go to get the flavour but it will no longer be a weekly event for us which is unfortunate. Maybe time to check out the other 2 Mexican places in the area. read more

I just left this restaurant feeling like sh"t,1st experience there sucked...I went in for a quick bite to eat with my infant son,the waitress didn't greet us,said there's a table GO! (I am now not t a dog don't appreciate being talk to like one) Sat down asked for a high chair she said I'll get you a high chair I just want to take this order first ,and proceeded to the table who arrived after me ,gave them menus and water ...I didn't get no menu or water and I was there first ,so I get ignore and feel like sh"t again ,15 mins later still no high chair ...then finally another girl brings it not the girl serving us and it wasn't that busy ,20 mins past not served water while everyone around me is enjoying there water ...I had to get up and ask for it !!! As well as the drink I did order!!! At this point I wanted to leave but I had ordered already ,after all this I had lost my appetite,this waitress was wearing all black today and dark hair with bad blond highlights ,I can tell you I didn't not tip ,and I tip everywhere even if there's bad service today was so bad I couldn't do it,as an indigenous women ...I felt little discriminated against,you may need to retrain your staff to show people decent kindness ,I ate a few bites and left. I'm sitting here trying valiantly trying to finish my "vegetarian" burrito which is just some beans, rice and veggies wrapped in an unappealing tough flour tortilla. No real flavour. Really amazing fresh food! We discovered Hugo's through Skip the Dishes, and have now made it a favourite either in person or delivery.

Every time I go out of town, I am quite certain that my husband will eat here every day! He is a Mexican food snob (err-- connoisseur) due to growing up around authentic Mexican food in Southern California. The owners, Hugo and Gloria, are very friendly, and the girls you see working in there all the time are the real stars of the show! They work SO hard and make such good, fresh, delicious, authentic Mexican food! Many of their staff are from Mexico. They know what they're doing! Trust me! They have a great deal on Wednesdays on Taco Locos, which is a must try! I can hardly finish a whole one myself. They are $5 on Wednesdays. Homemade, fresh salsa, from mild to burn your tongue off hot! Fresh homemade chips. Oh, and what about heaven on earth -- the Churro icecream sandwich!!! How could anything be this divine?!
