I often pass thru Lynden on the way to and from Chilliwack BC. Being from the SF Bay Area, and…read morehaving lived in Texas, I'm a bit of a Mexican food snob. This place is great. The atmosphere is welcoming and festive. The staff and owner are very friendly. The food is excellent. I recommend the mole, the chile relleno, and the margaritas. They have a few local beers on tap, in addition to the standard Mexican drafts. I had the Freight lager - twice. My wife had an excellent Lynden margarita. The mole sauce is complex, not spicy, and I would definitely order it again. If you live in the area, or are just passing thru, give this place a try. You'll be happy you did.

I really truly wanted to like this yet it has a subway esque feel mass market type restaurant…read more Ordering food at the counter was extremely sluggish and slow. The cook cooking it was overwhelmed with orders at the time since 4 separate groups ordered. The food seems to be reheated and not cooked specific to our order, yet they did use the grill and fryer, which is positive. It took some time to to get the order and was as dismal as feared it might be. Poutine didn't have much flavor yet everything was there. The peanut butter cup ice cream sandwich was totally obliterated, squashed beyond belief. On a positive note at least they apologized. Food itself Ambiance is book better than subway, subway may have a leg up. I left a tip and really wish didn't leave one, am abysmal experience and nothing close to what I expected, not at all close. Will never think about coming back here, not at all. Really wanted to like it, left at two stars though was walking between one and two.

We were doing a little Sunday drive yesterday and ended up here for lunch. It's been on my list of…read moreplaces to try for years, but ended up being pretty disappointing. It was pretty busy, which seemed promising, and the menu was truly impressive. There were all sorts of options - from Mexican food to Asian food to Italian food. Not to mention, an impressive breakfast/brunch menu and several American-style offerings (anything from chicken strips and burgers to steaks and ribs). So maybe we should have just tried something else. Dude ordered the rolled chicken tacos, which he said weren't too bad. But my chile relleno...it was inedible. The pepper was stuffed with a HUGE chunk of cotija cheese. Yes, the menu mentioned this, but I hadn't really considered the ramifications. Cotija is super salty, and that amount of it being loaded into the pepper resulted in a non-melted, solid mass of what tasted like pure salt. The relleno was pretty much inedible. I removed the cotija and just ate the pepper along with the accompanying rice and beans. It was not my finest relleno moment. Other than that, the experience wasn't bad. The place is quaint and clean, and the servers were very friendly. I probably should have just said something about the relleno, but also I felt like it was my fault because the menu did specify cotija. I just hadn't considered how salty that might be. If someone from the business reads this, please try the relleno yourself - it was NOT good. :(

The champurrado is also so delicious and definitely worth trying. It is a bit on the pricey side, and the hours can be a little confusing. Overall, the food is really good and worth it if you're craving something filling and authentic.

The Lynden location do not care about their customers and are shady people…read more The company website will take people's orders even when they're closed and will give no mention that you're placing an order outside of business hours like other restaurants do. The Lynden location is closed on Sundays but still allowed me to place an order. I drove to the food truck but the location that was provided by Google was incorrect and I drove to some unknown location in Lynden. The restaurant never called me about my unfulfilled order. Two days later on decided to call the food truck. They acted clueless as if management never brought it to anyone's attention that someone placed an order, paid for it and Was given no service. Because they were rude on the phone I decided I was going to just take a refund. I received no apology And the representative hung up on me without concluding terms to my refund. I had to call back to inquire when I could expect my refund and dared to ask why did they hang up on me. They lied to me saying they said thank you and hung up but that's not true. I thought I'd share this for you so that the restaurant can improve their service and correct themselves. But if I'm looking for Mexican food in Lynden, I'd rather give my money to Marta's Cocina. Their food is authentic, they're indoors, and they're about community over just business and respect their working class customers. They're no as close to work as Bordertown but I'd rather drive then giv these people my money.
