Service was a complete disappointment. After waiting 25 minutes in 90-degree heat with no water or drinks, we should have taken that as a warning sign. We placed our food and drink order at the same time. After the drink debacle, we specifically asked to make sure our food order was placed properly and we were assured it was "in the works." and that it would be out shortly. A little over an hour later--while multiple tables around us had been served and finished eating--our food still hadn't arrived. We left hot, hungry, and very disappointed. The food we saw going to other tables looked good, but the service was chaotic and disorganized. Venue chosen for dinner the first. of a three-night stay in Harrison Hot Springs earlier this week. Located on Esplanade Avenue (the 'main' street, alongside Harrison Lake), the restaurant was just a short walk from where we lodged. It was a dining spot observed before, but not tried, and we had wished to do so this stay. It turned out to be a warm and cozy little place, and a great choice on a rather chilly evening. Inside was spotlessly-clean, neatly laid out, and nicely, sort of "cabin crafty" furnished. Upon entering, it sure looked inviting, and really felt good. I had stopped in and spoken with an owner earlier that day (conversation centered mostly about their use of top-grade Alberta beef). I mentioned they had fish & chips on their menu, and was told we would be thrilled with their offering - 'the' best in size & quality to be found, and a great a alternative to their burgers. The ladies ordered fish & chips, and I went with their namesake burger. Wow, and yeah, we did well. Mom substituted onion rings for the fries with her order, and daughter stayed with the french fries. Each was happy with the choices made, and they offered a little sharing when desired. My burger was 'alone' on its plate - nothing else, and I ordered nothing more to go with it. It worked perfectly for me - and over the course of our meal, I was able to catch an offered onion ring and french fry from the others when wanted. Believe it or not, the best breakfast joint in town is at Basecamp Burger Joint! The night my husband and I checked into our hotel room, we wandered the main strip in town to check out the local restaurants. It was his birthday weekend and we wanted to find something special for the occasion. We weren't exactly in the mood for a burger that night, but as we strolled past Basecamp Burger Joint, we were initially drawn in by the cute curb-appeal of the outdoorsy vibe and well-lit menu posted on the window. We were soon greeted by the owner, David, who enthusiastically came outside to invite us in, informing us that it was his first week of business, and that they serve breakfast from 7am until noon! We were instantly charmed by his friendliness and made a note to come back, perhaps for burgers, but definitely for breakfast! That night we chose the Greek restaurant. Bland food. Bland service. S'alright. True to our word and much to David's delight, we came back the next morning for breakfast. The real star of the breakfast menu are the home fries. It's kinda hard to f*** up potatoes, but when done poorly it's usually due to lack of seasoning or the texture is overdone like dried-out stale French fries. Not these ones. These home fries were perfectly crispy and perfectly seasoned! Potato candy! Nom Nom! They're serving bottomless cups of organic coffee, which I appreciate very much thank you. The rest of the breakfast menu is pretty darn good. Nothing too out of the ordinary here. Basic breakfast offerings at a reasonable price point. We ended up eating breakfast there two days in a row. All in all, we had the Cinnamon French Toast, Buttermilk Pancakes, and the Rise & Shine Omelette. It's worth noting that each breakfast dish comes with a small side of salad, which is not a typical breakfast side, but honestly I really appreciated and enjoyed very much. It's also worth noting, while not listed on the menu, you can add any protein side for an extra $3. The only thing I would add to the breakfast menu is some other non-egg dishes, like a really excellent bowl of oatmeal, or granola, or perhaps a yogurt bowl. Unfortunately my husband doesn't like eggs, so going out for breakfast can be somewhat boring. The next time we come through Harrison Hot Springs, we'll definitely have to visit Basecamp Burger Joint again. David's friendliness and passion is palpable, which may seem a little off-putting in our jaded modern world, but my goodness, it's exactly what this world needs right now! I don't think I can overstate enough that they serve breakfast from 7am until NOON! Seriously, every restaurant in town stops serving breakfast at 11am. Checkout time at the hot spring resort is at 11am. This is excellent news for the early-birds and the late-risers! Just sayin' read more

Our family enjoys vacationing at Harrison Hot Springs Resort and to have a new place to eat is such a great addition to this small little town! We thought the location was perfect! Walking distance from the resort, right across the lake! The food was really good! We had hamburgers and the fries and onion rings were delicious too. Our family of 4 ordered a full size of fries and onion rings and it was plenty to share. The service was excellent! Our server was very friendly and she did a great job on a very busy day! Well done! Got the Benedict. Real, from scratch hollandaise sauce. It came out slightly broken, but the flavor was spot on. The side salad was a little over dressed but otherwise perfect. Dressing was a mustard vinaigrette and they nailed the balance. And then the potatoes went and stole the show. The whole family agreed they were incredible. My friends and I were quite hungry and decided we could go for some burgers so we tried this place. Service was friendly however immediately we were being attacked by wasps on the patio and promptly moved inside. Inside as well wasps were flying throughout the restaurant and attacking which really took away from our experience. There was also dead wasps laying around on the tables, in the windows etc kind of made me lose my appetite to begin with. All of us ordered different burgers, non of us left very happy. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and the mushrooms were canned and quite disgusting. I love mushrooms and ended up taking them off it was incredibly greasy. The burger was also dry and had little to no sauce on it. All of my friends burgers were also greasy and no one was very happy with their meals. My one friend had ordered her burger with the Caesar salad instead of fries which was a 7 dollar add on. We were all shocked at how small the salad was for the price. It was also shocking non of the burgers came with fries they were all extra charge. I certainly will not be back but a nice location and atmosphere for people in the area wanting a very mid and pricey meal. read more

Visited twice during the stay at the resort. Breakfast for an omelette and lunch for a burger. Both times the food was great. Note that the burger does not come with fries. I didn't dine in on both visit so can't say much about the service. Placed a simple to go order, first they gave me the wrong order. When I returned they gave me the "correct order" but it wasn't what I ordered either. Service is too needy, the oriental gentleman tried to touch me after my second time back to receive the first order after "verifying with the chef". I don't want You to hold my hand or give me a hug, I am a veteran its printed on my shirt. After the fact of them messing up both orders the food was bland, the burgers were dry and had very little to no flavor. and the poutine was extremely soggy as if it was sitting for hours. The menu claims the burgers are smashed patties but they are in-fact not, there was no crisp or char. The same oriental gentleman will walk out of the resteraunt and try to coax you to come in claiming "#1 rated on trip advisor" with the amount of unprofessionalism and horrible food quality I highly doubt their claims to be true. Maybe they hate Americans, maybe they hate Veterans. If zero stars was a possibility and a refund of $62.50 was possible it would be had. Ontop of that I tipped very graciously because they claimed to have taken special care of me the first time. The whole place is shady and it was completely dead inside which really makes consider the fact that they may genuinely just not like foreigners here, really really disappointing considering its a burger joint in a tourist town. Also the beef quality was horrid, the patties were nearly gray... DO NOT RECOMMEND PERIOD POINT BLANK. read more
