The biscuits with white gravy were amazing. They were so soft and moist. The red meaty gravy was good too, but I personally preferred the white gravy. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing and super soft. Tried the sloppy joe as well and enjoyed it. Service is prompt. Great suggestions by staff staff read more

Located inside the food court at the River Market by the Quay. The cashier was nice but her English was limited and it took awhile for our food to come out. We had their lunch special: spicy pulled pork sandwich for $11.95. Their regular menu is pricy, we ordered their chili cheese fries which was also $11.95. The food was tasty and the sauces paired well in both items that we ordered. We enjoyed our food outside with a beautiful view of the Fraser River. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! I'm not sure when this restaurant changed owners but it can no longer be called southern bbq. We ordered the Full Barnyard Platter with an extra order of wings. This food was DISGUSTING , wings were very small and more flats than drummettes, not crispy or seasoned. Two piece chicken the same as the wings. Brisket and pork ribs were clearly cooked days before and reheated many times with a drizzle of BBQ sauce to make them seem fresh. To top it off we ended up with FOOD POISONING! Re-Up BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - New Westminster, British Columbia

My husband has been here before and liked the food. Today we stopped by and he ordered the pulled pork sandwich special. The sandwich was suppose to come with guacamole. It didn't. I took it back up and asked them to add it. They took the sandwich to the back and brought it out. Still with no guac... i took a pic because he insisted it had guac on it. Do you see any? Thankfully he gave me a little cup of guac but sweet Jesus if the sandwich comes with it just PUT IT ON! read more

Re-Up BBQ - Pulled pork sandwich with guac??? Hmm - Barbeque Near Me - New Westminster, British Columbia

I don't know how they serve fried chicken and bbq. chicken wings are typically paired with bbq, but fried chicken? i was puzzled. they also had Poutine available with beef brisket or pulled pork. enticing. anyway, im convinced that the place would be better as a fried chicken/poutine place. their biscuits, pulled pork, brisket, and coleslaw were fine. their baked beans needed like, another tablespoon of brown sugar or smthng because they were way too vinegary and not sweet. but their poutine and fried chicken were excellent. the fried chicken had a great crisp to it and a satisfying, salty seasoning. the brisket mixed rly well with the cheese and french fries in the poutine. i realize that focusing exclusively on those two items would make this a not-bbq place, which is hypocritical to their name. but, hear me out: re-up fried chicken and poutine. it's got a ring to it, right? or, if we wanna switch it up: re-up poutine and fried chicken. woah, that also sounds pretty good. and, given that the barbecue items are kind of mid and everything else is excellent, maybe this would work out? i dunno, but like, it's a possibility lol. anyway, important caveat to this place. both me and my partner had tummy issues after eating here. to put it lightly, we fought for our lives. be careful out there. read more

I have had this sandwich on my mind for a while, so I made an excuse to get out of the house for lunch and made my way down to the Quay for some Re-Up. The Fried Chicken Sandwich is seriously delicious. Crispy fried bits encase the juicy chicken, while slaw and bacon round it out. I could have easily eaten a second, not because of it's size but because it's so yummy. There's a reason Re-Up gets so much love. They make some seriously good food. I've yet to be disappointed and am happy to have them out here in New West. read more

Came back and tried the chicken and brisket we missed last time. Chicken have massive flavours. It was juicy and tender. Really enjoyed them. 5/5 Brisket on the other hand was a disappointment. Having called ahead to reserve and all. Brisket turned to be dry and gamey, seems overcooked. Perhaps it was due to the cut of meat being exceptionally lean? 2/5 Overall still a great bbq joint. If we're ever to come back will avoid the pull pork and brisket. Ribs, chicken, and poutine with bacon are to die for. read more

Hands down the best Southern style barbecue I've had in the Lower Mainland. Before trying Re-Up, all I knew was Memphis Blues, and this place blows them out of the water. They sell out fast (especially on Fridays, sheesh) and the seating is shared food court-style with several other stores. But my five stars are dedicated to the food. Plus the people working the counter are always willing to substitute things if they've run out (aka more brisket!! More brisket!!). Melt-in-your-mouth brisket, amazing smoky ribs, and beautifully seasoned and juicy fried chicken. And the biscuits!! Get them with apple butter if you can. The beans also have this depth of flavor that can only be achieved by master barbecuers. Always go with at least one other person so that you can get a platter (full barnyard or proposition Joe). It usually comes out to about $15-20 per person, and every cent is worth it. read more

Ordered their full barnyard sampler for 2-3 people. Comes with ribs, brisket, chicken, biscuits, coleslaw, and beans. We added an order of yam fries. The ribs and chicken were not bad, but the beef brisket was very lean/dry (not tender) so we were disappointed by the brisket. Generally, it cannot compare to American bbq but the sampler is a good deal for $45. This is your chance to try a typical southern bbq in a cute little market in New West. My suggestion to you is to go during off-peak times. Otherwise, you will not only have to line up and wait for your food for a long long time, you may not even be able to find seating. The eating area is not very big. There were 5 of us - 3 females and 2 males - and we ordered the platter for 4. This came out to be $71 after tax and we were all so full near the end that we had trouble finishing the food. The food was good but I've had better... let's break them down: * Fried chicken - this was probably my favorite. They were piping hot and, oh, so juicy! * the ribs - I was expecting the meat to "almost" fall off the bones but it didn't. It was still a little bit hard. * pulled pork - nothing special about this - your standard pulled pork. * coleslaw - this was yummy * small bowl of chili - this was ok (I liked Tim Hortons' version more) * biscuit - this would have been better if it was at least warm. They were cold. Overall, it was a pleasant eating experience. However, we all found that we were VERY thirsty after the meal and very sleepy as well. read more

Re-Up has been around for at least 5 years now and although I wanted to try a new place in River Market, I knew I could count on these guys to have solid food. We ordered the BBQ call the Full Barnyard platter for my husband, daughter and myself. The platter was $36 before tax and consisted of 2 pieces fried chicken, 1/2 rack of ribs, 1/3 pound of beef brisket, beans, coleslaw and fries. We tried to take down this beast, but had to surrender with a few remaining pieces of brisket and fries. The beef brisket and ribs were tender, but I loved the flavor of the ribs more. The fried chicken was juicy and flavorful. The beans were smokey and the fries had some sort of spice (I think it's Cajun?). Worth the calories. read more

I was craving for bbq, and with friend recommendation I decided to give this place a shot. Due to Covid everything is take out. I have to say....their service is ok. 3.5/5 stars. They rarely pick up their call but if you meet them in person they are great people. Food: 4/5 stars I had their chicken sandwich combo for lunch and it was so juicy and delicious. Their home made coke wasn't my type of drink. Fries was amazing. Dinner: we ordered 1) full rack of rib -4/5. So smoky and amazing. Probably one of the best rib I have tasted for a long time. Reason why they lost a star is because the lean part taste really dry. It almost like beef jerky. 2) beef brisket- couldn't comment because they forgot to give to us. 3) chicken bucket- 4.5/5 .their chicken is amazing! It is a little pricy but worth every penny. I usually eat fried chicken at korean restaurant and Louisiana Popeyes chicken. But this is my next to go place. 4) coleslaw- 5/5 so refreshing and delicious . It is not those coleslaw you get at kfc or churches. I really enjoy it while eating the ribs and fried chicken. It takes the greasy taste in your mouth away. 5) Biscuit - can't comment because they forgot to provide for us 6) pull pork fries - 3.5/5 I wouldn't recommend for take out because fries do get soggy. But pull pork got the same smoky flavor as the ribs. Friend was season perfectly. Pull pork wasn't dry it was pretty juicy. read more

Always wanted to try this place and finally I got a chance. I have heard a lot of good reviews about this place and even on Yelp this place has pretty high ratings. So I got the pull pork slider. It was a very decent price. Lots of pull pork. The one thing I liked about the pull pork is that it has a nice kick to it. Not too saucy or not drenched in BBQ sauce. The meat was moist inside. Overall, I have only good things to say about their pull pork and nothing negative. They are located inside River Market. Note that they might close early on weekdays. Just come early or at least 2 hours before the stated closing time on weekdays and you should be fine. Recommend giving this place a try. read more

I think I came on an off day... They weren't that busy but their service was quite slow and they got my order wrong. The staff do seem like they are trying provide service but may not be fully trained? I went with two other people and it took forever to get their order in as well cause the cashier was confused... I ordered the spicy fried chicken sandwich but it wasn't spicy really because they only spread the spicy mayo on half of the sandwich... I order the ginger beer and they gave me lemonade I didn't go back cause I feel like it would take another 15 minutes for food... I will say the quality is there! I like the fried chicken here. The other meats (brisket and ribs) are ok, a bit hit and miss as the brisket can be a bit dry and tough sometimes. I don't know what they use for the the coating for the fried chicken but it is different from the other places. Same with the slaw. I think you can skip the biscuit though, nothing to write home about. I do like the southern iced tea. Refreshing and nice. For the fried chicken, they do not have breast meat. If you request for white meat, they will substitute with chicken tenders. They typically close at 7 pm though they closed at 5+ pm once on a Monday or Tuesday and so my friend could not order any food. I only come here on weekends or weekday day time since it is quite hit and miss on the closing time. read more

Technically a 3.5, but I am giving it a 3 because the cashier guy was kind of rude and impatient. The food was a bit slow in arriving as well. Prices are reasonable, and portions are pretty large. Fried chicken (5/5) I don't really eat meat, but everyone else who tried it kept raving about it, and said that it was the best thing we ordered. My dad even said it was the best fried chicken he ever had. Baby back ribs (3.5/5) The ribs had good flavour, and was pretty tender. However, they were cold when they arrived, which was disappointing. We won't be getting this again. Chili cheese fries (3.5/5) We added pulled pork and brisket to this. These two items were kind of average, but overall the whole dish was decent. Buttermilk biscuit (1/5) This was served cold, which pretty much ruined the whole thing. I like my buttermilk biscuits hot and crispy, thank you very much. I personally would not come back again, but everyone else would come back just for the fried chicken. It kind of sucks that they don't allow any substitutions, because all the mains only come with slaw, which tasted terrible. read more

This place has gone downhill hard. Is it under new ownership or something? The brisket was bland, dry, and bordering on tough. Cold slaw was pretty good but nothing to write home able. Came here for lunch. Fried chicken special with buttermilk biscuits and coleslaw for $29 could be enough for 4 persons. Chicken was nice and crispy with a delicious batter, coleslaw had a good dressing on it without being too saucy or mushy, buttermilk biscuits were fresh and amazing with the provided butter. There was a nice BBQ sauce for the chicken as well! I noticed some unusual ways to get 5-10% discounts (yellow socks, sing your order, etc) so I would have to come back and see if anyone actually does the quirky requests for discounts. They also have a menu of DIY cook at home stuff (meats, biscuits) - must give it a try! read more

After trying some Thai food next to this restaurant, we definitely had to try their BBQ food. Tables and chairs are in a food court. We had to order the food at a cashier and waited for them to call our name to pick up the food. They got lots of different types of BBQ food. Chicken, pork and beef. We ordered two pieces of fried chicken with southern BBQ sauce and some beef briskets with their special sauce. Each one came with coleslaw salad. The coleslaw salad was good. Of course the main characters here were the fried chicken and beef briskets. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy. The pieces were big as well! They couldn't compare with others such as KFC and Church's Chicken. The texture of the beef brisket was soft (not tough at all) and it matched very well with the sauce. Great food! We hope to come back here to try other dishes of BBQ food. read more

My date wanted southern BBQ so we made our way here for dinner. We ordered the full barny, blueberry soda and Dickie's ginger beer. The soda and ginger beer were really good. The whole platter was spot on for the most part. I really enjoyed the fried chicken, brisket, coleslaw and biscuits. The chicken was perfectly fried and pipping hot. The batter was nicely seasoned. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender. The coleslaw was dressed nicely. The biscuit were buttery and almost flakey. The beans were okay and I would have preferred the ribs to be fall off the bone. Overall, the platter is a good sampler of most items except for the pull pork. We have had good experiences in the past with Re-up for large company lunches (50 to 80 people). Good food, good service. In late 2020 we had to cancel our Christmas lunch due to covid and we did so well in advance of the date. Kelly, the manager, said she would return the deposit. After that promise and despite many emails and phone calls, they completely ghosted. UPDATE- after seeing this review Re-up did contact me and promptly issued a refund. It took from November to May to get this done which is disappointing. Even though their organizational skills are troublesome, they were a hit with our staff- their food is VERY good. read more

BBQ HEAVEN! Came in on a hot day for something to eat with my dad as he was visiting town and it was way to warm to actually cook in our house. Of course my father would find the the one place that has BBQ... There was no line up (even though we weren't pressed for time) so we decided to try it out. We were pleasently greeted and offered some advice on our order since we clearly had no idea what we wanted. We ended up order a beef brisket and a pulled pork sandwich with one side of potato salad and of course two sweet teas with lemon. It wasn't too expensive, under $30 for sure. We were given a beeper and told to wait until it rang. We found seats not to far away and took the teas with us while we waited. It took roughly 5-7 minutes until the beeper went off, let me tell you that thing was so strong it buzzed itself right off the table before we could catch it! They had it neatly organized and ready to go on a tray with napkins and utensils already to go. The pulled pork was cooked perfectly and the bun (judging by the size of the kitchen maybe wasn't made in house so maybe in a commissary) was made fresh. The beef brisket was just the right amount of spicy and the meat was falling apart in your mouth but still had some bite to it. I am probably the MOST picky person when it comes to potato salad.... so to my surprise it is now my new favourite! There was no chewy potatoes, it wasn't watered down and there was plenty of flavour. I will definitely be coming back and bringing all of our out of town visitors here all year round! Great job guys! read more

Get me a spicy fried chicken sandwich anytime! A stacked burger for $9.75, the oh-so-delicious crispy fried chicken was paired with guacamole, jalapeno and cabbage salad. Even though it's food court style, I like that they give you a buzzer to notify when your food is ready. My friend got the chilli cheese fries and almost gave him a food coma. It wasn't as impressive as the pulled pork or brisket sandwich. Their menu is slightly pricey. The Dickies Ginger Beer, or lemon soda, or homemade cola would have gone well with my meal. Ribs is good, roast beef is also good (though a bit cold Imo). Fairly priced and located in nice young demographic new west area near the pier. Best fried chicken and BBQ in the lower mainland. Hands down. We've had our fair share of fried chicken in search of what reminds of us home; and without a doubt this is the best spot around--when I'm even remotely close I make sure I take a detour over to the Quay to load up. More often than not I will call in an order to pick up because my order is always pretty large. I've now been to re-up more times than I can count and have perfected a carryout order for my family of two: bucket of chicken (10 pieces that comes with slaw and 4 delicious biscuits); 1-lb of brisket; and their "retail" rack of ribs, which take about 15 minutes to heat up/cook at home. We always order this large amount because we live in Vancouver and only get out to New West on occasion. And it takes us many days to get through our leftovers, but it's always worth the heavy load. One point of consideration is that their packaging for carryout leaves a lot to be desired. I always bring my own bags with handles to manage our large order. We travel by skytrain to get there so it can be cumbersome with the basic brown paper bag they provide. The staff are always super patient, friendly, and working hard. read more

Update: 2nd visit Jul 26 2019 Sometimes something is too good to be true-so we went to Re-Up again and we were proven right. Aside from testing 2 other main items (briskets and chicken), we retested their ribs and poutine with bacon, which turned out to be a lot less satisfying than our first visit (see details below). The Great Fried Chicken Hands down their fried chicken, though expensive at $7.50/2 small pieces with small coleslaw...... is the tastiest amongst other ones we tested like KFC, Popeye, Max (Filipinos), Vesta Grille (Korean), and other various Chinese fried chickens. The batter has a unique umami similar to anchovy or fish sauce that makes me go "ummmmm" upon taking the first bite. The meat inside is very hot, indicative that it is well cooked. Because the pieces are small, we are never without a bite of meat without the batter. Otherwise, I would have suggest a longer marinating time to get the flesh as tasty as the batter. comes with a delicious plum tangy dipping sauce (remember to ask for it), a coleslaw, $2.50 extra for biscuit (don't do it) Portion not enough has lunch, go for minimum 4-6 pieces. Expensive but worth it for an occasional treat. Highly Recommended Item The Ugly Beef Brisket We reserved the brisket 34 hrs ahead as required and arrived 1/2 hr early to wait for its did not expect an experience not short of meeting a hot chick in a nightclub under dark lighting, only to discover next day under daylight that it was all just mascara and lipstick We order the entire 1 lb of brisket which gave us many many pieces to test. The top small tiny pieces were perfectly juicy, tender and melt in our mouth. ‼BUT THE MAJORITY OF THR BIG PIECES UNDERNEATH were completely dried out, hidden under sauces.... I had plenty of beef brisket in my life time and this is the 1st time I almost choked trying to swallow the dried out meat. ‼After I complained to what appeared to be the owner/manager (Chinese), he quickly poured me a big container of sauce so I could do a French-dip style brisket by dunking every bite to let the sauce help with easing the dried meat down my throat. It was a horrible brisket experience. The Disappointment 1 Our first visit the ribs and bacon poutine was fabulous (read previous review before update). ‼This time the ribs sauce had changed from a classic to a mustard glaze. I do not expect a BBQ house to change flavours of its signature dish. Never the less it still tasted good. This time the portion was much smaller (maybe the boss is around) and the coleslaw for all the dishes we ordered was watery. Less time the coleslaw was crunchy and drained. Perhaps we got the bottom of the barrel. 2Bacon Poutine Redux ($2.50 extra do bacon)....... It was night and day compared to last time. The bacon became the standard supermarket thin ones, unlike the first time when it was thick bacon and cooked to just crisped before laying over the poutine. So the mouthfeel changed from deluxe BBQ to food court New York Fries type of run of the mill poutine. There was a lot less cheese than before. Overall the poutine experience had regressed by 40%. Recently the other top BBQ house in Greater Vancouver, Dixie BBQ has closed its door. We wonder if the sudden decrease of quality and serving size in Re-Up has anything to do with that. Given our disappointment with the the dried pull pork (see last review), the small poutine, the dried briskets, and the inconsistent ribs, we don't think we will be back any time soon except to do another update to see if they have picked up their act. For this I reduced one star. You can still get a good experience if you stick to the Ribs and Chicken. read more

Disappointed:( Portion was small. Ordered the half rack of ribs. It was about half the size of what I would expect for a half rack of ribs. Of the six bones five are broken in half. The dry rub was not good. After 20 minutes I checked to see if it was ready because the beeper hadn't gone off. It was sitting on the counter and the guy claimed he was just about to call me. I'm not sure how he's going to call me because he wasn't anywhere near my meal. That explained why it was cold. It tasted like left overs. Was way too dry. Eventhough the coleslaw wasn't great it was the highlight of the meal. Overall I would suggest you pass if you really like barbeque. Poor value. Poor food. Poor service. Poor experience. read more
