I've been looking for a good pub in Vancouver for a while, and I've tried quite a few that were OK, but this one is by far my favorite. The menu is somewhat limited and doesn't really have much in the way of Irish food on it, but that's OK. I don't like much in the way of Irish food. What it does have is amazing smash burgers. They're grilled with mustard on them, which creates a really amazing savory flavor. The bacon cheeseburger smash burger is just the right size, and I love that you can upgrade the side from fries to some crispy tater tots. I've had trouble finding those in most of the pubs around here. The indoor vibe is classic Irish pub, and there's also a sidewalk patio. The bar service was terrific, and they've got all of the things you'd expect for an Irish pub, including excellent Guinness on tap and real Irish coffee made with Tullamore Dew. read more

I just arrived from Texas and was looking for a casual pub for a quick bite. I read a review that raved about the smash burger and gave it a shot. OMG!!! Best burger I've had in a very long time. Absolutely perfect. Service was okay, non alcoholic drink selection was almost zero, but the burger was incredible. Weird spice on the fries. read more

Wanted a place close to our hotel that we could get a pub burger and a couple beers for lunch. Got there right as it opened so we had the place to ourselves. Ordered smash burgers and Donnellans lagers. Burgers came out quickly and were so tasty!!! But the best thing was our server Emma, what a delightful young lady to talk to behind the bar. Great bar atmosphere and wonderful Guinness pour. We were there at 5-6 and the room was empty, although there were others at the bar. Friendly atmosphere around the bar and we made friends on all sides. We might have tried the smash burgers but no one else was ordering food so we took that as a sign. The bartenders were legitimate Irish and it was great to listen to their accents. The bar was semi-hidden so I'm glad we sought it out. The neighborhood looked a little sketchy but we weren't worried at that hour. read more

Greetings from the Great White North. We're in Vancouver BC for some St Patty day shenanigans. See what I did there? We happened upon Donnellan's by accident. The place we wanted to go to was closed. I'm so glad it was because Donnellan's is fantastic. It's all dark wood and low light. Everything about the place is Irish including the staff who all have Irish accents. They have a good menu that features smash burgers and sides. We had a couple doubles. Very good. Not dried out. Look I even had a pint of Guinness. I'm not a beer drinker at all but how could I not have a Guinness in an Irish pub located in a British Commonwealth? It hit the spot but left me a little wobbly. Yes I'm a light weight. Maybe we will stop in after the Canucks game tomorrow night. read more

Service and atmosphere at this Irish Pub to ring in the New Year really made for a fun trip to Vancouver. Matthew at the upstairs bar took great care of us too. The pub is next to a few hotels including the Holiday Inn making it an easy walk back after the deliberation and festivities. Pub has a good bar menu and Guinness on tap. Price/quality (4/4): I came here for some beef stew and a pint of Guinness. While the beef stew was good, the Guinness was quite special. It seemed to taste better than the Guinness served in most other pubs. While I haven't actually been to the brewery in Ireland, I do wonder if the Guinness here is just a little closer to what it would taste like at the brewery. (It's well-documented that Guinness tastes different in different places, and it tastes best at the brewery because that's where it's freshest.) Stopped in for a quick drink and to use their facilities while sight seeing. The drinks were cold and the bar tender was friendly and chatted with us while we watched Rugby. Nice place, wish we'd been there for the Sunday Carvery! Would definitely go back on another trip. read more

Loved the old building pub feel, a little on the dark side but some might say it's cozy. Went on a Saturday early evening and the service was lacking for us; I had to go up to the bar to request service several times. We had beer, tater tots and wings, all very typical bar food and was subpar. I would suggest this pub if you were in the area and want to stop in for beer and some food. I only had one beer as I was meeting friends who'd been there sometime and were ready to move on. 1. They properly pour a Guinness. 2. Actual Irish people were working at and patronizing the establishment 3. Service was prompt and friendly. 4. My friend of Irish heritage who has been to Ireland said it reminded him of pubs there. Came here as an out of towner to visit a friend and this was by far the best pub I visited. The staff were friendly, the live music was awesome, and the drinks were cold and fairly priced. Had carvery today and tasted great, and costed $15 per person. Nice gentleman serving the carvery, very attentive. Carvery had mix of roast beef (tasty but the cut a little chewy) and turkey, mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, stuffing, gravy (beef and turkey flavours), carrots and peas. Carvery is only served Sundays 3-9pm though the gentleman serving the carvery said sometimes they have sold out by 7pm. The reason for not giving 5 stars was that it was lacking in staff. As we entered, staff were around but no one greeted us/explained how it worked. And it took time to get a server help (lack of staff). Though the servers were all helpful once we got their attention. The carvery also had a queue and you had to wait about 20 minutes (as there is only 1 person serving) but I think it's worth the wait for the price and quality. Decent, down-to-earth, family friendly (saw children and strollers), unpretentious place. Music and chitter-chatter loud. read more

Booked a table for champions league final today. We were told they'd be open at 11 for the 12 noon kick off. They opened at 11.50, informing us that the big screen was broken. They had a few very small tv's, and the feed was glitching - unusual as this doesn't happen if you have a proper subscription typically. The sound was also poor quality and they wouldn't turn it up (despite it being the only reason everyone was there!). They had no table service, and a very poor bacon and egg bap with a few fries was $19. When I asked for sauce I received an eye roll, and the fella didn't return with any. We left after 20 minutes to go to a proper pub with screens. This used to be a great venue to come to watch big sports events, clearly no longer the case. read more

Our first time here in Vancouver, Canada. We came here and LOVED IT! The environment is super cool, great service and good drinks! Close walk from our hotel. We will definitely be coming back here before we leave back to the USA. A lot of pubs/bars ask for 2 forms of identification. We're from California and didn't know that. Lovely staff, great beer selection and the location could not be more central. The washrooms smell like an outhouse and I was careful not to touch anything. Huge tv for watching sports if you're into that sort of thing but there was absolutely nothing 'Irish' about the place when we were there. read more

We called in on a Sunday for the carvery and the place wasn't busy at all. We arrived at 2:30 and had a few pints although the servers weren't the best they were still friendly. Once the carvery was ready at shortly after 3 we went up and got a great dinner. Asked for an IPA, got a Lager tasting beer, expensive Wiskey and their promo drink (mojito) tasted as just sparkling water. Michael (bartender/server) gave really bad service and attitude. Wouldn't go again. read more

When they first opened I was skeptical. There was no food menu and the smell of paint was really strong. However, as they have gotten into their grove, they have become a go to spot for pints. My husband and I even rented out the top level for an engagement party. They were lovely to deal with towards booking the event and we didn't have to pay anything extra to block off the space. One of the only bars that shows Irish Rugby and GAA. Food is pretty decent and pints aren't too expensive (for Vancouver that is). read more

As I was there for Trivia night, I didn't get to try their food as the kitchen was closed. Even though they did say that you can bring take out in, most people find it a bit of a hassle to do that. The beers were $5 so everyone was downing those. It was very very packed in there, but the bathrooms were still pristine when I left. read more

Ahhh hard to give it a number. Food was probably a 3-4*'s. We had the special which was ham (super good!) and roast beef, new potatoes (good!), boiled carrots and cooked frozen peas. Happened upon this brand new Irish pub while shopping on Granville. The Guinness is VERY good and the staff are super friendly. Very laid back atmosphere in the afternoon with good music. I hear it gets very busy at night. Mostly Irish patrons, I think that's a good sign. There's lots of Irish snacks and apparently there's a full kitchen opening in a few weeks. Best pint of Guinness in town. Staff are friendly. Toilets are clean. They don't serve food yet (December 2017) but it's an Irish bar and I'm from Ireland so I don't go to bars for food. That's what supermacs is for :) Four hour happy hour and tax included in the advertised price (come on rest of Canada) Excellent for the big Irish sporting events as there are plenty of tvs. It can get a little bit hard to see the big screen with latecomers standing in front of you. I've also never been here at night time so I don't know how service is in the evening. read more

I came in as a solo human just wanting a couple Guinness and some whisky. I wanted the bar but the bar was full. So Sean took care of me and he was amazing!! I'm always worried when I sit solo and not bar top that my drink will go empty. Not even close. He was on it and positive and friendly. And when a bar spot opened up he made sure to secure it for me which I never even asked for and that is above and beyond customer service!! Yay Sean. You're amazing. Don't ever change.
