The patio has great views of science world and Yaletown across the way although the patio area is quite small. I had strawberry beer that was on tap. The menu is a mix of standard pub fare with sandwiches, burgers, salads, and starters. They also have a section with share plates, which is what we ordered. We tried the Mexi-fries and chickpea fritters. Portions were decent, the accompanying salsa and aioli really made the dishes. Service can be slow, but is super friendly. Overall, a great place to check out if you are in the area and looking for a more laid back place than the massive craft beer restaurants nearby. read more

Take-out review: What a surprise. We came by on a rainy evening while waiting for our pet in the ER nearby. Ordered a pulled pork poutine. It's not to-die-for but it is exactly what I'd expect of a poutine - which is surprisingly hard to find. Portion size was a lot bigger than expected, and it was loaded with tasty moist pulled pork. We sat on the patio close to our pups and enjoyed drinks, Mac and cheese, and happy hour wings The wings were pricey even when we went for happy hour but they were flavorful. This is a local dive bar that caters to the marina next door and others in the neighbourhood. Let's just say they don't care much about appearances. It's the kind of place where the regulars will stare at you with an unwelcome look when you walk in the door and tell you the seat next to them is saved. The beer is as good as any place but the food is, well, as you'd expect. Very busy on a sunny Saturday. The birthday group I was with was denied use of the patio based on our numbers and then crammed into an area that made it difficult for the server to access. Inside it was alarmingly loud and very difficult to maintain conversation even when the person was right in front of you. Outside would have been a much better experience for conversation. They really should have accommodated our wishes to be on the patio. The food is better than average pub food and *higher than average in price* My Lamb was delicious! If you order this, it would be best accompanied with fries and or another starch, as it's pretty oily. *Warning* The customer service is not impressive for so many reasons. 3 of our party were Gluten Intolerant and (or) Celiac and one has a seafood allergy. Our server was clearly not well informed about the menu items. In example, 2 of the "gluten free" pastas were delivered with a side of bread. Um--hello? One of our party became sick after he had the Ceviche which was at first forgotten and then delivered after a great delay and arrived with no apologies. Everyone else already had their meals. About 30 minutes later the poor young man got sick from the Ceviche and later had to leave. To exacerbate the issue, the server had to be convinced to remove the item from the bill. That's unacceptable behaviour. Once again unapologetic and even farther, making excuses like "there is no way he would be sick so soon..." She was quickly corrected by the 2 FOOD SCIENTISTS of our party, one of which happens to have majored in food born illnesses! All in all, not a great experience but we would consider a return at some point to enjoy the patio. The view from this location is really nice. read more

[Waterfront Patio] Location, location, location! There's not many pubs around Vancouver situated on the water's edge with an overlooking patio. We were fortunate enought to snag a table for 6 early on a Friday evening without much of a wait. They had a good selection beer and wine but nowhere near as many as place like Craft or Biercraft. Prices were also very reasonable given the location ($5-$7). I found the food to be a little pricey given the quality. A few of us shared a few appies - a poutine, chicken fritters, crab cakes and wings. It was all very salty (as expected with pub food) but didn't really impress despite being hungry. I didnt particularly feel there was value to be had at $14 each. There wasn't any loud background music which probably has something to do with all the residential buildings nearby. The atmosphere was still lively and fun but not out of control. It was nice to leave a pub without my ears ringing and my voice intact. Wicklow has a great patio with a fantastic view but everything else is nothing to write home about. I probably wouldn't repeat given the number of excellent pubs in Olympic village and South Main areas. read more

Such a great location. Capturing as much of the Vancouver sun as humanly possible, I settled in with gal pals on the patio for an afternoon of chit chat. Alas, the mainstream beer lineup on tap left me lustful for something more. (I say as I crack open an Abita Strawberry Brew and write this review!) With my friends wanting to munch - we tucked into some standard patio fare: nachos and hot wings. The nachos were smaller in portion than what you'd normally see at a pub and they lacked sour cream (my fave!), but the deep fried jalapenos added something special. (I'd love to see those jalapenos as a dish on their own... could be delectable on a mezze plate with olives, hummus etc.) The guacamole weighed in at a hefty $4 price point, but, on the other hand, it was the guac that made the nach, so perhaps I shouldn't mention price! The server was kind enough to not charge us for them. She said the cook was new to the menu. So definitely it is the mangers fault for not proving training or supervision at the start. I'm somewhat conflicted about the Wicklow, as there are two - the winter Wicklow and the summer Wicklow. The winter Wicklow is a cozy neighbourhood pub. Regulars are a big part of the clientele, and there's a comfortable familiarity between staff and customers. Servers are friendly and capable, and the service is good. There's a decent and varied pub menu, with vegetarian and gluten free options (a great gluten-free burger among them). Lots of choices on tap. It's a great spot and I go there often. The summer Wicklow is an entirely different animal, however. There's a good-sized patio with a great view, and when the sun is out the patio is packed. The downside is that when the patio opens the 'Cheers' vibe completely disappears. The place fills up and the wheels come off. The temp summer staff fails epically at the basics of service, the kitchen isn't able to cope with the volume of food orders and nobody seems to know what's going on. At 8:00 on a sunny Wednesday evening I waited almost an hour for a salad and a burger. It didn't occur to the waiter that it might be helpful to mention the backlog in the kitchen when he took our order, and when I went off in search of my waiter at the 45-minute mark to inquire after the food, he was nowhere to be found. When the waiter did reappear it was to reassure us that he had just been in the kitchen and our order was "next up". Then returned to the kitchen and delivered food to two other tables. Awesome. Yep. I was very disappointed with the presentation and overall taste of the "burger" Usually when I order a salmon burger I expect some sort of condiments like mayo or tartar sauce. The salmon was cold and dry. When I asked the server if the typical burger comes with condiments she said it sometimes comes with a side of ketchup. Went here for a friend's going away party/dinner. It has a great view of False Creek. Some of us got there early so we ordered drinks and food. I had ordered the wellington about 5 minutes before my friend ordered hers but somehow our server didn't place my order. She thought I didn't order any food which was odd as I saw her write it down on her notepad along with my drink. I got my drink so when the wellington came out, I thought it was mine. We waited for the second one which never came. the wellington was a little over done but was still good. for $14, I wasn't expecting a lot.The wings my other friend ordered was juicy and really good. I am strictly giving this restaurant 5/5 because of the incredible service my party received from MICHELLE! I had my birthday dinner party at the Wicklow Pub. I rented a room on the top floor and they had the seating all ready when we arrived. My friends decorated the place and no one made an issue about it. The view from the patio is amazing as well. The menu is huge. It has tons of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. And the food is in good portions and delicious. The drink menu, although not available online, was affordable. Back to Michelle, she was a single server for a party of 30. She was totally cool and had her shit together. I think she was completely perfect for this event. I give 4 stars mainly for the location and nice view. This is a great place to stop by with my friends when we are walking or riding a bike around false creek. They have a great patio with a nice view of Downtown Vancouver. Love it. Great place to have a beer and enjoy the sun in the summer. I only tried crab sandwich so far and it is very tasty. Got there 10 minutes before the posted 3pm - 7pm "party". Server eyed us down to order, so I had a pint of what was suppose to be a Sunday Happy Hour menu. Busboy & the server assured us samples upstairs & downstairs will start soon (Okanagan Springs)? I was going to order food but 4pm rolls around no samples just bar-popcorn? Paid for my pint. I grew-up in False Creek and really want to give The Wicklow a positive review, for sentimental reasons. I was a regular at The Wicklow's predecessor, Stamps Landing, which was borne of local Expo 86 development within South False Creek. Stamps Landing went out of business about two years ago and, sadly, I will never be a regular at this recent incarnation. Everyone mentions how wonderful the view is from The Wicklow's west-facing window seats and patio, but few mention that the cheapest pint at this "pub" is $6.00. I have also spoken to many individuals who defend the food quality at this bar, but the entrees at The Wicklow are more expensive and of lesser quality than choice selections that you can find on Main Street, or even Broadway. I have patronized The Wicklow between 7-10 times, and I will never be back after the experience I had tonight. The music was obnoxious, the place was filled with macho muscleheads who were ensconced for UFC 118, the service was brusque, and those $6.00 Rickard's left a bad taste in my mouth. If you are looking for a local pub with outstanding views, I would recommend that you mosey down to the Backstage Lounge on Granville Island. read more

I'm not giving this place a five star because it's a five star restaurant but I'm giving it a five star based on overall experience. I first want to state we had a lovely waitress named Caitlin and I made a point of getting her name because she took great care in making my Shirly Temple drink adding lemon, lime, orange and a The service from her was very quick, attentive and friendly. Let's just say she's on the ball which is refreshing. The portions were very large. The food was very fresh and tasty and it was very good pub food. Cooked with care. Crab cakes were awesome! French fries are real homemade and crispy crunchy, Caesar salad was great and the croutons were homemade and the additional capers were a nice touch. The almond coconut crusted chicken strips were awesome and the view was good, place was welcoming and I have been to the other two restaurants in that culdesac and this one beats them all hands down. It looks small from The front but it's big inside and had a decent amount of customers. Great place to watch a game! I'll definitely repeat! I have not one complaint but only praise! Way to go! Give your waitress a raise' she works hard and has earned it! Take it from an elite squad member like myself. Another thing that stood. I really wanted to like this place. The menu sounded so promising, but some things are better in theory than they are in practice. I was here on a quiet Thursday night, and the patio was full (it IS a really great view, especially at sunset), so we chose to eat at a booth in the corner. We must've waited over an hour for our food because the kitchen was backed up with orders, for some reason. Our pulled pork poutine was decent, lots of gravy and cheese curds, and not salty as one would expect. My yorkshire pudding stuffed with roast beef and mashed potatoes wasn't anything spectacular. The yorkshire pudding was pretty flavourless and a bit burnt on the edges. Can't complain about the mashed potatoes, but the beef was a bit too well-done for my liking. My friend had the beef wellington, which we both thought was quite dry. Our server was kind enough to buy us a round of shots since the food took so long, which we appreciated. Found in a quiet slice of False Creek, this pub - with its expansive harbour views - is the perfect place to take in a meal. Last night, on another gorgeous Vancouver evening, my guy and I found ourselves perched on the Wick's patio. We each noshed on burgers (he the lamb, me the Santa Fe chicken) and a few drinks. The Wick had a low key crowd, helpful and friendly servers and tasty, reliable food. Our bill was around $45 for two burger platters and three beverages (including one of the best tequila Caesars I've tried in a long time). We'll definitely be back! I've passed by the Wicklow Public House tons of times during my runs along the seawall, and finally found time to try it out on a gorgeous Saturday. The Wicklow Public House is located right on the water, boasting gorgeous views and a fantastic second floor patio. There's plenty of seating inside as well. When we arrived around 5 PM, the patio was jam packed, so we were placed on a waiting list and seated at a small table inside. While we were waiting for our table, I indulged in a few cocktails. The killer kool aid is fantastic and highly recommended, though you'll have to stir it when you get it. The melon ball is nice and refreshing. Both cocktails cost around ~$6.50, which is reasonable at a pub. My fiance and I each had a pint of Alexander Keith's White Ale, which came to $6.50/pint. You can find cheaper drinks at other locations, but I thought the prices were pretty reasonable considering the pub is located in a "touristy" area of Vancouver. As for food, we shared a plate of onion rings. The onion rings were great and not too greasy, with a nice beer batter coating and a tasty garlic mayo. For $7, they were well worth it. For dinner, I ordered the chipolte chicken club and fries, which was greasier than I expected. It was still tasty, but I could only eat half of my sandwich. The seasoning on the fries was great though. Most meals will set you back between $12 and $14 dollars, which is about what you'd expect in this area. It's not the best food you'll eat, but its definitely not the worst. We got moved to the patio when our meals arrived, allowing us to enjoy the gorgeous view of False Creek. It's well worth getting on the wait list for a patio seat, since the turnover is faster than you'd think. They also have plenty of heat lamps and blankets available if it's cold outside. When we were seated on the patio, one of the employees at the restaurant opened up a patio umbrella and brought cold ice water for a dog that was tied up outside. It's such a good feeling to know not only is this place dog friendly, but the employees actually care about the animal's well being. Overall, the Wicklow Public House is a great pub that offers an even more fantastic view. If you're in the area, I suggest you check it out. read more

The patio is a dream - we all know this to be true....the food however, isn't. Based on other reviews which are mainly positive, perhaps I caught them on an off day. I ordered edamame and fish tacos. The edamame hit 2 big O's (and not the good kind of O's - am I right ladies?:) - overcooked and overpriced. They were also under-seasoned and cold. The tacos needed a serious resuscitation; perhaps the cooks need to take a field trip to Tacofino, La Taqueria or Sal y Limon for a crash course in taco-deliciousness. They were bland, dry and the tortillas were not fresh. Sure, I'll likely be back here to sit outside and enjoy the view - but I'll stick with drinks, me thinks. read more

A long-time favourite watering hole of several good friends, and ourselves whenever in the area, Burger Biters decided to check out theIr Kobe Beef Burger. The beef patty had reasonable flavour, but we found it overcooked and dry, something one wouldn't expect in this higher-fat meat (2.6/5). The Kaiser bun was simply okay (2.6/5), while the whiskey BBQ sauce and cheddar gave the burger some decent flavour (3.25/5). The side bowl of fries (3.1/5) were only lukewarm and cut too small, one of my all-time pet peeves. At $14, the burger scored 3.1/5 for value, bringing the total score to 2.95/5, recommended with reservations. Probably best to explore other things on the Wicklow's decent food menu like their killer wings... Great friendly service, a fantastic view overlooking Stamp's Landing marina and False Creek, and a limited but decent selection of local craft beers on tap make the Wicklow a nice little place for anyone who appreciates the traditional "neighbourhood pub", something that is, unfortunately, quickly disappearing in Vancouver. read more

One of my favourite pubs in the city! Good for brunch, lunch or dinner. In the winter it's hard to beat their Yorkshire Pudding stuffed with mashed potatoes, beef, onion & horseradish. The staff are pretty friendly, they helped secure me a good spot on the patio when I was there for my birthday last year. The view is gorgeous! Highly recommend! read more
