We often come to this little shop when we're craving Chinese, but today was my first time reviewing it. We ordered our usual, their hot pepper chicken and green beans. We love the spicy numbing flavor of the chicken and the crispiness of the sautéed green beans. we tried some new things today, their spicy fish with preserve mustard plant, three item cold plate, and black pepper beef rice. I would probably just order the fish again but I think I prefer their Hot & Spicy Fish Fillet and Sautéed Eggplant w/ Garlic Sauce to go with our usual order. A very small-compact sichuan restaurant that seems to be family-owned. The food here is not bad, but the service is not good. The lady who runs the main dining area/who does all the interactions with customers is not efficient in her work. For example, she would bring out the food, but meanwhile, there's no plate or utensils to eat with. When we asked for the plates and utensils, she responded "I'll bring it out later, one thing at a time ok." She also has this old-school Asian-lady demeanor -- calls everyone "sister," which was annoying. At one point during our dining experience, she got into somewhat of a heated argument & caused a scene with a customer who came to pick up to-go orders. This made the dining experience negative as it soured people's mood. Anyway, service aside, the food itself was quite authentic. 1. Shredded Potato with green Pepper (4.5/5) Pretty much standard shredded potato in a vinegar-like sauce. I liked that the potato was not mushy, indicating they did not use old potatoes 2. Kung Pao Chicken (4.5/5) This was actually one of the dishes I actually liked. It was not too spicy and the chicken was tender. The sauce was also not overbearing - not too thick or sweet. 3. Spicy Cauliflower Pot (3.5/5) Love the concept of this dish - cauliflower with thinly sliced potato in spicy sauce. I wish they put in more cauliflower though. The spicy sauce was a bit overwhelming here + oily. I did end up having diarrhea afterwards, which I am not sure if it's attributed to the spicy food or sanitation of the kitchen/food-prep process. I think it's the spiciness because I had this again the next day (leftovers) without the other food items and had diarrhea again 4. Hot & Spicy Wonton (2.5/5) The spicy sauce they use for this dish was very suboptimal. They barely put enough spicy sauce for the amount of wontons in the dish. The sauce also seemed to be diluted, which made coating the wontons minimal. As such, it really lacked flavor overall. 5. Tea Smoked Duck (5/5) This is probably the best dish and what they would be known for. The smoked duck really has a good smokey flavor and the meat was tender. Although what was lame was the waitress lady told us this specific dish could only be paid for via cash - perhaps to keep the cost of it lower?? 6. Cold Plate (Cucumber, seaweed, bean curd) The cold plate was packed with flavor, but was a bit too salty. If you're a savory palate person, you'll be ok with this dish. Otherwise, it would be way too salty for most. Additionally, the presentation suffered greatly. Usually the cold plate dish has all 3 varieties laid out in a row, so you can eat each variety at any given time or be able to get a bit of each variety with each bite. Here, they literally piled a bunch of cucumber and seaweed on top of the bean curd. It was so difficult to get to the bean curd without causing the cucumbers to spill out over the plate. We literally had to first eat the cumbers and seaweed before the bean curds were exposed enough to get to. The seaweed tasted fine, but when my family had it for leftovers the next day, it caused them to have diarrhea. 7. Fried Stinky Tofu (2/5) Their stinky tofu is black, which looks a bit off-putting. The tofu was over fried - it was hard on the outside and there's hardly any tofu left in the inside. The plus was that it did not "stink" too much. read more

Lots of people in the review raves about the affordability and serving of the food, and they don't lie! The serving is huge, especially for the price you're paying. Plus they're all very, very tasty. Will be coming back for sure. We got the spicy beef pot. It's dry hot pot, our favorite. They make it well. Flavorful and the beef is tender. We also got the hot pepper chicken. It's crispy and not dry at all. Salty in a good way and not spicy, despite the amount of dry peppers. Get them with a couple bowl of rice! The wait for the food is quite long. I think it's a 2 people operation. Wife outside, sometimes in the back, and husband cooking everything. But the lady was literally running everywhere non-stop and she was so nice and apologetic about the wait. Dining area consists of maybe 3-4 tables. Most of the people coming in were ordering to-go. Small mom and pop type of place. They got one of our orders wrong. But since it's such a small establishment rather than send it back we just ate the dish anyway. Most of the reviews talking about the hot pepper chicken are correct! Order it! It's so crispy and delicious it's like addicting popcorn chicken you can stop eating. A lot of noodle dishes. We ordered shrimp with scallion noodles. They gave us beef. Great food and generous portions! The food was really good and had good flavor. I got the beef and potato pot and Mapo tofu. The mapo tofu with rice was only ~$10! Such a great price for the flavor and portions that usually would be ~$20 at a restaurant. Service was friendly and nice. The store is quite small and there's seating for around 10 people. Cozy, casual and authentic. Just a handful of tables and a small fridge with canned sodas & bottled water. We were immediately sat at a table facing a tiny sink by the hostess stand. This is one of the most addictive places to go to if you love well-spiced food! Everything on this menu is a hit, super authentic flavors and food comes out tasting really fresh like it sprung out of the fire. We usually get the popcorn chicken which is mouth-numbingly and mouth-wateringly good. My sister and I are also big fans of the cabbage spicy pot too, although all of the spicy pots are delicious--it just depends on what kind of textures you're craving that day. Is it cauliflower, cabbage, beef, or all of the above? I also got the beef noodle soup with the rice noodles, I like that they have this alternative in case you're feeling like springy Guilin-style noodles instead of egg noodles. D20 hot & spicy fish fillet - Cabbage (not napa) and bean sprouts on the bottom. Tasty. Spicy. N5 cumin beef noodle - boss lady recommended this. It's fragrant and has the numbing feeling. Good as a solo dish. The other dishes made this one seem underwhelming. Rice - $1 per bowl/person They only have 3 tables inside. The boss lady is busy with phone orders, and I think there's one chef in the kitchen. Prices are good for the portion size. $60 for 4 dishes = 2 ppl + leftovers. While attending a conference nearby I wanted to check out some good eat in the area. Since I just want to pick something up on the way home, this place fits the bill. I ordered the popular spicy chicken and tea smoked duck. For the price you get a good amount of food. The spicy chicken was not as good as the one at Szechuan restaurants I've been to but still a crowd pleaser. The duck was smoky and salty as it's supposed to be. If you want something different than your typical roasted duck this one is a must order. Only pet peeve I have is they don't take credit card even I saw a credit card machine near the cash register. This place is really quite delicious. I was excited to try out a new Sichuan style restaurant because I'm a fan of the spicy foods of that kind. Hot Pepper Chicken - Very similar to the salt & pepper popcorn chicken that you can find throughout SGV, except much spicier! I think the key component here is that the chicken is fried/cooked alongside the chilies themselves to actually infuse that spicy flavor into them. (Whereas often time boba shops or place seem to simply add spice powder afterwards) This is very good and you get a large portion of it (it has a little trouble closing the Styrofoam takeout box! Fantastic to snack on this throughout the day. Note: I've seen some reviews mention how there are alot of breading bits that don't seem to contain any chicken. Yes, that is true, there is a lot of excess fried breading in here as well. HOWEVER! I would argue that they are also of value- because they are also crispy *and* spicy! They're still flavorful and tasty, just not as good as the actual chicken. There's plenty of chicken in the dish, but don't discount the miscellaneous bits! Still delicious~! Beef Fried RIce - Solid fried rice. It both looks and tastes very flavorful. I love the dark color the rice has taken on and every bite just tastes full of flavor. This dish is of course, NOT spicy. I have to remind myself to stop eating this fried rice so I can eat some of the other dishes I ordered! Mapo Tofu - Oh yeah, this is pretty good. You can taste the peppercorn mala spice in here. It's worth mentioning that this dish is meatless by default- you can add minced pork for $1 more. It's a pretty straightforward dish so there's not too much to describe, but it goes so good with rice. Kung Pao Chicken - I found it to be a bit sweeter than spicy, but still a delicious dish. It's got all the fixings though, chicken, veggies, peanuts... Goes really good with a plain surface like white rice. The overall portion sizes were generous. I think the value to quantity is still pretty good, with imo high quality as well. Even with the prices increasing incrementally across the menu, I still think this place is currently worth it. The spicy dishes are indeed spicy, but always in a good way. They aren't overpowering and trying to challenge you, they are simply trying to give you good flavors. It's one of the few places that still have big portions at fair pricing! I will continue to support. I need to rave about Lins Club on the border of Arcadia and Monrovia on Duarte and 6th St! Ive gone multiple times since my first review cause the food is so good! It has the best Chinese food in the area. Everything is soo yummy! The garlic cucumber, the mapo tofu, the cumin beef and lamb, the noodles...only thing I haven't tried yet is the hot pot but I'd bet that's good too! And the prices are sooo good for the massive amount of food. 3 dishes, 2 rice and 2 drinks was less than $40! And we were happily full. It's a small place but the food comes out fast and rhe woman working there is really nice. E glish is very limited so I go with my boyfriend to make it easier but he loves the place as much as I do! Also their hours are great, bot closed in the middle of the day like too many asian places do and they are open late too! You guys have got to try it out! read more
