I had about $1000 to spend in my flex spending account which I decided to purchase a pair of glasses, pair of oakley sunglasses (prescription), and some contacts from. I had gone to linden for an eye exam, which looked professional like a doctors office along with the long wait. Although the eye exam was a little more expensive than other places, they actually do a thorough job with the exam. Buying glasses from this place, is another story. While they may have a wide selection of glasses. BEWARE. I received a call telling me that my glasses were ready for pickup. I went in to pick them up, and was horrified: 1) the glasses I purchased, the frame was marred a little bit, and the of adjustment screws one was totally stripped. I was informed this is completely normal and nothing could be done. The lenses also were not cut correctly. One of the lenses looks like it was poorly cut. I have a very minor nearsight issue so these lenses were nothing special at all. 2) the sunglasses purchased -- I paid over $400 for oakley sunglasses and oakley prescription lenses. I was informed that linden would not be doing anything but to order direct from oakley, and that oakley cuts the lenses. The lenses were perfect! Except...someone managed to screw up the frame order. They ordered the wrong frame. 3 weeks later, they tell me that the new frames arrived, but I'm not allowed to pick them up until someone calls me. When I will get that call, is anyones guess. Speaking to them over the phone was utterly useless. If you dont care about long waits, and possibly second rate expensive glasses, come to linden. I am going to go into the place of business and see if I can get any of these resolved in person one last time. If it is, i'll modify this review. if not, it will remain the same. update (6/27/2009): After speaking to their eye glass department this past Weds, they told me that the frames are in, but arent ready for pickup until someone "inspects" them. Bear in mind they just need to open the package, and insert the lenses which they had already in posession. I was told I would be contacted when they were ready. (same story) Two days go by, and I decide to follow up. It turns out they ordered the wrong frames AGAIN and just decided to lie to me about it. They either dont have their act together or were just plain lying to my face. Definately not a business to deal with. My review stands. This place totally sucks. read more

I had a contact rip apart while trying to take it out and had to find an eye doctor the next morning when I wasn't sure if I had removed it all. I just moved to Pasadena and my current eye doc was at least an hours drive away. Not knowing anything about them, I walked over to Linden Optometry. Dr. Tom Wong and the whole staff at Linden were very patient and helpful. I had to wait an hour or more since I didn't have an appointment, but they squeezed me in and took care of it. Since I had such great service I went back when I needed new contacts. I again saw Dr. Wong and he was extremely patient. I tried a number of different brands of contacts and different corrections until we found one where I could see well enough to drive legally, but still read my phone. Dr. Wong worked with me to make sure my distance was more than legally passing and also informed me I could increase the text size on my phone. Who knew? Again I tried a number of brands for a week each and every time I came back they were never running very far behind, once even right on time. :) Dr. Tom Wong was thorough and I never felt like he was in a rush. The staff was polite and the place was clean and well run. Dr. Wong was very good at letting me decide if I wanted to try a higher priced contact. He didn't try to push the more expensive lenses, but I went with them after 2 other brands didn't feel as good. And he made sure the office staff set me up with a rebate which greatly reduced the price difference. I haven't yet, but plan to return to get my bi-focals. UGH Not looking forward to the glasses, but at least I'm not dreading the afternoon at the "eye place." read more

I came here last year and was really pleased with the service. Unfortunately this place has really gone downhill. The rates for a contact lens exam have gone up, and after a full examination they didn't have the lenses I needed so I had to come back and get them, then come back and have them corrected, then come back and have them checked again! That's four times driving out to Pasadena, I live in Los Angeles- so not a big deal at first, but a problem for multiple trips. For this last appointment they sent me numerous reminders, telling me there would be a cancelation fee if I was a no show. I got to Linden 30 minutes early, and wasn't seen until after my appointment time had came and went. Then they still didn't have the contacts I needed to order so I would have to come back again! No thanks I'll order online. I still give them 3 stars because the doctors are good. Also the one lady with the heavy Eastern European accent in the contact lens fitting area is seriously the best when it comes to customer service. The staff should take notes from her. I'm all set for this year....not sure if I want to go through this all again next year when it's time to check my eyes again. read more

Let me start off by saying that the glasses section of this Optometry is GREAT, however, the section where the eye exams and contact lenses are carried out is rude, hasty, and have horrible customer service. One of the doctors, I believe her last name is Dr. CHEN or CHAN, instead of helping me pick the right contact lenses through conversation, just raddled off a few brands and told me pick. When I tried to explain my situation and which contacts previously worked better for me, she seemed irritated that I was either asking too many questions or providing an alternative to her suggestion! I didn't want to cause any tension so I just quickly picked a brand. When I asked the young lady, who was supposed make sure my contacts fit correctly, if I could take the contact lens' original packaging home (where the details can be found) to do some research of my own - she told me that I couldn't, simply saying "NO". There was no explanation offered as to why. After this experience I never returned to get the lenses. Besides the glasses I already got from them, i refuse to give them anymore of my money or time. This is a review for the optical side, not the Dr.s, who are fabulous. It's been 3.5 weeks since I, and my 3 kids ordered our glasses. We were told our order would take 10 days to 2 weeks, which seems long as compared to my previous place. Got a call that one pair are ready, two are who knows where, and my glasses wouldn't be in until February! That seems like an excessive wait time. Called them, keep getting put on hold for 20- 30 minutes at a time. They take my number to call me back, and never hear from them. The upshot: get your exam here, but perhaps purchase the glasses else where. read more

I had an optician named Zee and she refused to help me after making 2 adjustments because apparently what I needed done was beyond her capacity and that just pisses me off. Linden Optometry is absolutely a mediocre place to get your glasses made in Los Angeles. It is a place filled with ill-chosen opticians and optometrist prompt to negligence and pretentious attitudes on the part of the optometrists with very few exceptions (they have many, it is like a supermarket in there). I understand it is hard to deal with the public when it comes to health related issues, but this is not what is going on at Linden. I should know, I have been visiting Linden for over 5 years and the last visit was the last straw. For example: If you have had you eyes checked at Linden it is probable you are using the wrong prescription right now, specially if they suggested the more expensive progressives as they tend to do. You may be missing entirely the correction for astigmatism or your focusing distance is off. I wonder sometimes if the optometrist pretends to examine you but then Linden fabricates the same generic prescription that fits everyone, they use prefabricated lenses in other words. It certainly feels that way. Also they are supposed to re-do the glasses if they make them wrong (and they seem to always get it wrong on the first attempt as I said) Instead of redoing them, they can give you back the same exact prescription twice and tell you it has been redone. No improvement at all. And for Pete's sake, don't take your children to Linden Optometry, the little ones won't be able to tell that they've been given the wrong prescription. They are not experienced enough to tell the difference and may feel pressured by the staff to accept something that could actually hurt them in the long run. read more

I've been going to Linden Optometry for years (since I was a little kid) and so has my family. Jason (Chinese optometrist) who's been working there for years has helped me since I developed nearsightedness in 6th grade, until now (I'm not 28), so in essence, he's helped me with every pair of glasses I've had in the last 15+ years. Excellent customer service and very honest with what he believes is the best glasses for you for your price range. I highly recommend this place as it's one of the largest optometries in the area (perhaps it IS the largest one), and is very family friendly. I'm no longer a kid, but for those who do have kids, they always have a nice waiting area with coffee, tea, and cookies so your kids don't get bored while waiting! Not to miss is their wall of on-sale glasses in the back room (closer to the main street), but farther from their main entrance which is actually connected to the back parking lot near the museum, as these glasses are very affordable. Also keep in mind that if you get your glasses from Linden, they repair for you for free, for the lifetime of the glasses! read more

Let me start off by saying the first visit to get my prescription was great. The pick up was the worst most unorganized thing I've ever been through. I used to get my glasses at Costco but wanted to try this place out. I saw 4 employees just standing in the back not helping anyone and looked at me helped one person and went back to just talking. Well no 1 wants a new pair of glasses with marks and scratches all around the edges, besides, left and right lenses were not even symmetric!? how can you get that wrong? I asked. Remind you they had an exact lens shape I gave them (the actual lens and not the demo that comes with the frame) Im going to pick them up 2day, we will see. I'm only giving 2 stars because the optometrist I had was actually really good. My low rating is for other reasons. DO NOT ORDER CONTACTS FROM THEM. I had not been to Linden in over 8 or 9 years. I went in for a general eye exam and to order contacts. The visit went very well. I didn't have money at that time to order contacts. I asked my Dr. How do I order once I do. He said to email him. One week later, I did so. No answer. 2 days later, a follow up email was sent. No answer. I called to place the order and was told that the 2 people who could place the order were busy and they would call me back. They left me a message later that day, but my phone didn't notify me, I called 2 days later and reached someone that said I needed to pay for them before they could place the order. It's been 5 days now and I am just hearing this now. The only way they have available is to give someone your card number over the phone. NO OPTION TO PAY ONLINE IN 2022. I was uncomfortable with that. I said I would go in on Saturday. I ended up not having enough time on Saturday. I called 2 times on Saturday and the 2 people were busy again. Called back an hour later, busy again. Never received a call back. On Monday, I called and was on hold for 15 min, before Claudia answered. I told her I wanted to place my order. She was very unfriendly, not very clear about my order, placed me on hold without telling me, and had no acknowledgement of my frustration with this process. I gave her my card number. This was at 1:45pm. It's the next day and no charge is reflected as pending on my card. This place is archaic, understaffed and the customer service of the people that handle the order, or at least Claudia is AWFUL. Never going back. read more

You're better off going somewhere that puts customers further up the priority. Glasses are not great. For the time they made me wait several customers returned with broken glasses in hand. They do a big show of professionalism but they up sell you on everything. If you have a budget, don't expect any help from staff, they will surprise you and attempt to sell things not needed. "Everyone gets this" and "you basically need it". The optometrist never even introduced his name. I asked and he was resistant to say. Before I finally slowed him down from looking at my form and asking rote questions. I am sure they make investors happy, but not focused on customers. If you read this, do us all a favor and invest your money in something focused on customers. read more

And If you need advice or help, ask for ROSE, she has knocked it out of the park with her amazing customer service, yet again! She helped me rule through a box of frames that I stacked high. With each pair I tried on she was able to help me evaluate the frames' best and worst assets for my face shape and even skin tone. Rose made me feel so happy and comfortable with each choice of elimination and over the years she has become my go-to for any questions or help! Olivia, in the Pick-up glasses department, is also really great, she is so pleasant and happy to be of service! She helped fix a pair of my sunglasses that I thought would be a lost cause for sure So thankful that there are enough great employees here to help guide you through what could be a very overwhelming experience. I also appreciate that they like to be festive during the holidays and offer you popcorn and water :) PITFALL: on days when I can't find someone like Rose, Ray, or Olivia to help me then it's a very slowwwwww experience to get help for what I need or even just to pick up prescription or contacts. ADVICE Call in advance as much as possible so that your information will be pulled up before you arrive. Have your chart, prescription, and the service you are coming in for ready on the phone. It's always crowded and chaotic here. This place always has long wait times (15-30 min average in my experience) even if you book an appointment. If there are multiple steps to your procedure (e.g., the green dot and air puff, and then the exam with a doctor, and then trying on contacts, and then having your contacts checked by the doctor), you will wait again in between. I once had a 5:15 pm regular eye exam with contacts exam and I didn't leave until 7:30 pm. They haven't had any of the trial contacts I needed in stock, so I've had to come back multiple times. They also said they'd call me when the next trial pair came in and they never did. They will not give you your pupillary distance if you want to purchase your glasses elsewhere. read more

If I can give this place a 0, I would. The whole eye process and waiting took 2+hours!!!! All I was doing was an annual eye exam and contact exam. Yes, I am a new patient with new insurance, but never in my life have I gone to an eye doctor or any doctor in fact and stayed for 2+ hours!! Absolutely ridiculous. I need to change my location. They tell you you're up next, when really you're not. They say oh just a few minutes, nope not a few. On top of that, the doctor does a test and I have to ask what my results were because he didn't automatically tell me. So frustrating that I want to cancel my insurance and/or pick somewhere decent! The entire family and I use to be regular customers with this Linden Optometry, but to sum things up, we do not go there anymore... This place is always CROWDED and it takes FOREVER to get serviced. The last time I was there, they were also using this tacky number ticketing system (just like at the meat deli). I haven't been to the optometrist in over 3 years before being referred to Linden's. This optometrist is right down the street from The Urth Cafe which is convenient after a day of frame shopping. I waited 15 minutes for the initial exam and then another 20 to see the optometrist. The optometrist was very sweet and made a few jokes here and there. He informed me about my vision and tols me to take care of my eyes before I strain them more. Once the exam was completed I went out to choose a frame. They tried to start me off at the least expensive frames up front but I quickly moved to the Ray Bans and Pradas. I was torn between 3 pairs of glasses but Tom *I think that was his name* helped me decide and I settled on a gorgeous pair of pradas. It took 1.5 weeks to receive my glasses since my insurance required the prescription to be made out of store. They do have their own in house prescription area. I really don't understand why some people gave this place a 1 star and all angry about the service. I booked an appointment for 11/13/19. Soon as i walked in, i was pleasantly greeted at the door and in 5 minutes, i was being accommodated already. Dr. Rosie Mo is absolutely awesome. Her knowledge about eyes is hands down amazing. She took care of my eyes all around. Thank you so much, Doctor Mo! Jessica who took my OptoMap is also fantastic. Great conversation with her and kept me entertained with our soccer conversation (GO CHELSEA) and finding out their boss is a Liverpool fanatic hahaha! And lastly, Fely (amazing woman) who took care of me about finding which glasses i should get is so wonderful. She is so cool, calm and very patience. All of you are so wonderful! Be careful with this place. I was in the wrong office but they lied and said I was in the RIGHT office when my appointment was with another Dr. in another (close by) location. My bad for walking into the wrong place but they said I was in the right place and then made me wait for nearly an hour to be seen. I was contacted by my actual appointment while in the waiting room but since I had already waited and already missed my actual appointment, I figured I would give them a shot. Turns out, they rushed me through and I felt like I was not given proper attention. Does this business need the clients so bad that they lie and steal from another local Optometrist? There is nothing worse than an unscrupulous business ESPECIALLY when it comes to healthcare. I ONLY HOPE they got my prescription right but as I read through the Yelp reviews I have little confidence. Not me, not again. read more

I went to Linden Optical from the suggestion of a friend. The place was really busy so I figured this place must be good. There is a very large selection of frames and I found some I liked. I had no help from the staff though there were plenty of people working. I dont have insurance so I paid for my glasses out right. They were pretty pricey. That night driving I was seeing a bunch of were flares around the edges of my new glasses. It was kind of like looking into a kaleidoscope. I thought I just needed to adjust to them. A few nights later the same thing. I was also noticing that I kept seeing things moving out the corner of my eye. It was utterly annoying. I got so fed up that I actually looked at the lenses. They were all jagged and looked as if someone had cut them with a hacksaw. I went back to Linden and they tried to tell me that my lenses needed to be cut that way because of the plastic frames I had chosen. Then they also tried to convince me that it was because my glasses didnt have a glare coat on them. They had me waiting for over 30 minutes to tell me that they were not going to help me. In that time another customer was asking for a receipt for dropping off his glasses cause in the past they had lost a pair of his glasses. I figured they were selling me a line of BS, so I went across the street to the Lens Crafters. The people at Lens Crafters were really helpful in answering my questions, and yes basically Linden was selling me a line of BS. The people at Lens Crafters were so nice that they actually fixed my glasses for me and buffed down the sharp jagged edges of my lenses. They did this at no cost and it took less than 3 minutes. They were so kind and helpful. I say head over to Lens Crafters if you need glasses. Linden Optical is most likely going to let you down. read more

This place is a well run machine. Very efficient and mostly everyone was quite friendly. Maria was just great, super friendly...she double checked that my glasses arrived when I came for my follow up visit. Dr. Mesropian is a sweetheart. She is very attentive, listens well, and has a great bedside manner. The best part is they have a wide range of availability, and their scheduling system is done electronically which makes it super convenient. So happy I found this place. The rating is mostly for Dr. Wong since he is the reason I go here. I have been going to Lindon for probably 6- 7 years. Started seeing Dr. Wong 5 years ago when I had some prolonged issues from a case of pink eye. I live in Hollywood and work in the Valley, so getting here is kind of a hassle. 2 years ago I went to new guy closer to home who came highly recommended. Initially it seemed great. Nice office, found a nice set frames - but the dude could not get my contacts right. The whole thing became a nightmare. To get to the point, I went back to Dr. Tom Wong and he had me sitting (and seeing) pretty in one short exam. Nailed it. Both my wife stick to Dr. Tom Wong at Linden. If he left, I'd follow him. The support staff here is fine. Actually when I've really need help they have always stepped up. I don't buy glasses from them. Just accept that. read more

I've been coming here for about 8 years or so. I know the wait can be pretty bad sometimes, but you should expect that if you go on weekends. True, even with an appt, you can wait up to an hour or so before you're called in. Just went there today to get new lenses for my old glasses. I had an appt. I got there half hour early. They took me in. I filled out the short form and handed it in. Not even 10 minutes later, I got called up. Dr Chen was nice. She did the usual checkup. Didn't feel rushed or anything. Your basic checkup shouldn't take more than 10 minutes or so. Went out to the front. Told the receptionist girl (this gorgeous asian girl) that I just needed new lenses. She passes me over to this other older lady. Spend 2 minutes with her and I go pay at the cashier. I wasn't there for more than half an hour. Let it be known, I was there on a Wednesday afternoon, so there were hardly ANY customers there. Overall, very satisfied with this visit. But I wish I would have got that asian girls name ! I wear glasses and contact lenses and the doctors that I see, (Dr. Morrell, Dr. Lien, and Dr. Yan) take the time to go over any questions I have, and they answer me honestly. They treat me like someone who has a brain, which is more than i can say for my previous optometrist. The office is huge, and it can be overwhelming with so many frames to choose from, but I've found that if you go in with an idea of what you want, then it makes life a little easier... There are a lot of people at Linden. They always seem busy, but then they are open all the time... Even New Year's eve, which surprised me ( I bent my glasses and they were able to fix them). Even with an appointment, I have had to wait, but no more than any other doctor's office. Ten, maybe fifteen minutes... but usually, if you have an appointment, they run on time. Without one, probably a good half hour, but considering the amount of people that are there, that's still really good. Anyways, I like them. The staff is friendly, and go out of their way to try and help you. But if you go, make an appointment. read more

Where do I begin... There is no place like Linden Optometry, they are running their business like a department store, or like a hospital. Let's start from the beginning (and let me just say, I get covid is a thing that's still happening so places are running business slightly different but I don't think it was the issue for Linden Optometry), but I think I was blessed to not have to wait the long wait everyone experiences here to get checked in and see the Optometrist. So got checked in fairly quickly (people after me I noticed started to get fussy for waiting a long time). The optometrist who helped me was nice and knew what she was doing. Have no complaints about her. After that things started to fall apart. After moving from the entrance to the check-up station we took another trip to I guess we can call it the "sales floor". Had to take a couple of minutes to wait for a "sales representative" to explain that station and how to pick out glasses. But this sales representative could not help me "buy" the glasses I picked out. He did not do much but tell me the price of the product I picked out and what my insurance covers or does not cover because after we talked about that I got handed over to a NEW PERSON (start to see the trend). This person did not acknowledge me when I got handed off while I waited for her for a solid 5-10 min while she typed things into the system. All she mentioned was the total I have to pay and did not explain how I pick up my lenses and was even told I could not place an order for my contacts without having to do my "trial" but I already know how to use contacts! (This was talked to with the optometrist so there is a lack of communication within the "teams". Oh, and there is a lot more of a lack of commutation to be explained)! Before being handed over to I guess we can call the "register person", I talked to the sales rep thinking he will be the one helping me with everything after the check-up, to see if my current glasses can be adjusted since the frames became very loose, and he said "no problem we can have that fixed after check out"... that was a lie. Since after paying I was "done" according to the register, I had to re-ask to get them fixed. Oh here's the best part... after calling "the repair/tech" people, I waited in front of their next station for a solid 30 min without getting help. I ended up getting frustrated and had to just cut off one of the repair people to help me (another lack of communication where I was told they will help me from one person to another person but no one can help!!!!!!). So after 2 and a half hours being here... I got to spend money and not leave with anything new, have to move from one person to another to another station to another station while losing communication amongst the team and having to keep repeating myself. The experience does not get any better on the phone! After being told stuff in person, calling their phone line, you are again transferred to multiple people before getting help and yet again you are told the opposite of what you were told in store. Never been to a place where I had to get handed off multiple times to get ONE simple thing done. This is my first and last visit to linden optometry! DO NOT GO!
