I am really happy this woman is busy. However, try not to be rude towards potential clients. I call for an opening and you tell me you are busy when I have free time; understandable. Then I ask you when will be the next best time for both a manicure and pedicure...and you tried to make a joke. Please do not chuckle and say, "Well I don't know, whenever you're available. This place is if you are on a budget and don't care about the small details. I would give it a solid C. The technique to remove gel is e-filing primarily and little soaking in acetone. Your nails will get thin, weak, and brittle. They need volume of customers because their priced lower than the other nail salons around. I happen to walk in and was lucky in walk in on the weekend for a mani pedi. The lady doing my mani complained to me twice that my fingers were too stiff. She just came off as being so rude. I don't know if she was having a bad morning. The lady doing the pedicure did not trim my nails. She refused to and argued with me. She thought they were short to begin with. I had to bend down and trim my own toe nails. Just bad. Have you ever gone to get a pedicure and have to trim your own nails? After they both were done they went to work on the next customer.Sorry I know the ladies work very hard but if you work with the public, you need to be friendly. It's not my regular nail place. They should make new customers feel welcome. However the nail polish was thick and globby so it smeared even after sitting 20 min to dry in front of a fan. If the bottle was mine, I would just toss the bottle. I didn't dare come back in to have her fix it because she would probably get mad at me. I should have gone to my regular nail place. But on the positive note is that they do 2 layers of nail polish and then a top coat. At Anna's (2071 S Atlantic Blvd # J, Monterey Park in the same strip mall) the ladies are much more warm, friendly. This place is super close to my friend's house so we decided to do a girl's day and came here. When you walk in, you will see many nail colors that contain a certain number - and you just tell the person what number. When we were there, there wasn't much of a wait so don't worry about calling in for appointments. The girl who did my nails was really good. Since this was my first time getting a manicure (I'm a bit of a tomboy hehe), I was really worried after hearing stories from my other friends about getting their skin nicked and bleeding from getting their cuticles worked on. However, the girl who did my nails was very gentle and thorough, so that's a plus! After my nails were dried, she lathered some lotion on my hands and gave me a nice little massage. Be sure to tip well. Normal gel manicure costs $20, but designs will cost you a bit more. I opted for a nude-pink color since it's more appropriate for work and clinicals. I was very pleased with how my nails came out. The gel manicure was great and worth my money since I got my nails done 2 weeks ago and they're still good! No chipping! Besides getting manicures, we also got our eyebrows threaded. It's $8 and the woman was pretty good. Customer service is decent, despite the fact that there may be a bit of a communication barrier. HORRIBLE. Stay away from this place! Here's my story on this place: So I needed my nails done- French and acrylic. Came in hoping that the four stars was legit since other places in the area seemed busy at the time when I called around. It was truly a mistake. They did one of the worst jobs ever. Not even 24 hours and my nails were lifting. Not only that but here's something funny, I'm actually Vietnamese but they probably didn't know it. This lady is working on my nails and a worker comes by to "observe" and starts talking sh*t. "Why would someone make the shape like that, the French looks ugly when it's closer to cuticle," and the tech working on my nails said "The client requested it to be like that." in Vietnamese. Um excuse me, but RUDE. (fyi, I love stiletto/ squaval French) She proceeds to murderously file my pinky, making me bleed and let out a small but silent scream due to the pain. She tells me to "shhh" because she didn't want the other workers to hear/ know/ or see what happened. I hear my nail technician asking the lady at the front how much she should charge me, she says 30 dollars in Vietnamese. At the end she charges me 31 without saying anything hoping I wouldn't notice. (Which I'm sure is because I paid in card, still, you're suppose to tell the clients!) I gave her $4 Tip so it came out to be $35 dollars. Conclusion; Unless you want to go to a nail salon that has: - A ton of annoying non English speaking workers (probably talking about you) - Careless technician who cuts you and makes you hold the pain - Shady pricing - Horrible ambiance - And worst of all: immediate LIFTING of the nails within a day +Having to make a trip back to get it fixed. I came here with a friend for a regular mani/pedi. We were asked a couple times if we were getting gel and the body language of our mani techniques felt like disappointment-I'm assuming because it cost less. The woman doing my pedicure wasn't nice at all: no "hello" or eye contact even when she asked "cut?" She had a frown on her face and would weirdly tap my feet to direct me to put my feet in and out of water and it became uncomfortable not knowing what she wanted me to do. Apparently I was supposed to know what the tapping meant without verbal direction. She gave a 30 second very gentle feet rub-similar to what I get from my 5 year old. The actual pedi was decent but unpleasant and not relaxing. This place is old school...no "spa" chairs. The mani nail technician was at least a bit nicer with a occasional fake smile. Linda also wasn't friendly-no greeting and tells me to sit in a tone as though I'm inconveniencing her. I didn't feel comfortable doing my eyebrows after the weird vibe. I ended up only asking her to remove my embarrassing mustache. Assuming she's the owner or at least named after the business, I'd expect a bit more hospitality. I guess business must be that great that customer service is not important. I definitely won't be returning....feeling unwelcome is a big negative. read more
