I am quite upset and disappointed with my last visit. I have been going to this place for years. I already told the technician that I don't want to wax my upper lip (even if the hairs are long) because I experienced this before..burned = scar..and the next thing I see is she was getting the wax. She said wax is better because the hairs are long (it will actually be easier and faster for her too)...I didn't have the energy that day to argue or insist and I regret it because I got this :(. I checked out Nayan Threading for the first time on Monday, 10/7/2024, during my lunch hour, and it was a pleasant experience. I've hesitated to try out new threading places since I would only go to a shop near my old place. After searching on Yelp, I decided to try out Nayan since it was closer to my home. I walked in and was greeted. I checked in using the self-check-in iPad, where you indicate your service(s) and who you would like to do your threading with. I got my eyebrows ($10) and upper lip ($6) done. Fortunately, I did not have to wait for too long and was seated in the second chair. The threading was great for my upper lip (though it was a bit painful due to the area). However, my eyebrows weren't as clean as I would have liked. My eyebrows are tattooed, so they follow the shape, but there were a few miscellaneous hairs above my eyebrow that could have been threaded (which I tweezed at home). The lady was kind and asked me a few questions here and there, and I enjoyed my mini eyebrow massage when I said yes to the aloe vera. I then paid and tipped her in cash. Updated Prices as of October 2024 Eyebrows - $10 Upper Lips $6 Lower Lips $2 / Forehead $6 / Neck $6 / Side $9 / Chin $6 / Cheeks $6 / Middle $3 / Half Face $25 / Full Face $30 One thing that I did want to mention is that I did get one pimple towards the front of my left eyebrow on the very next day after my threading. It was a deep, big, under-the-skin type of pimple, and I typically don't get this kind of pimple in that area of my eyebrow. I've never had any breakouts from threading before, so it was just interesting to me. It could have been a coincidence, but I'm not sure so just hoping this doesn't happen again in the future. Been coming here since 2018 and I honestly love it here. The quality of work done on my eyebrows always gives me confidence. The vibe is calming and quiet, which I love just because I am shy and enjoy calming environments. I even started taking my boyfriend with me in 2021 and he has always enjoyed how they keep his eyebrows thick. I have experienced bad experiences but not from the workers but from the people. It's very unfortunate to see people taking advantage of this business by trying to scam them in to giving them free services. I remember one time, a lady came in with her daughter wanting eyebrow threading. Just seconds after the worker started threading the lady's eyebrows, she begins to yell at the worker saying she can feel that she messed up already. Kalpu is very sweet, detail oriented, and gentle. She takes her time to make sure that you leave with the perfect brows. She is really nice and will answer any questions that you may have. After threading, she will politely ask if you'd like aloe vera gel on your brows followed by a brief massage. Nayan Threading is located in a large strip mall towards the CVS side a few shops down from Jamba Juice. Parking is easy to find. When you go in, check in on the tablet at the front desk, select the service(s) that you need, then wait for your name to be called. The tablet also has the option for you to choose the person that you want. Kalpu has consistently been my go to threading person for three years. But Nayan Threading hasn't been opened for that long. How is that possible? I first met Kalpu when she worked at another threading place. One day, I went to see her and the employees told me that she no longer worked there. I gave the employees a deer in the headlights look and internally panicked. I know it's dramatic but I've searched far and wide for someone who consistently does good work like she does. After all, brows don't grow back overnight so it'd be a nightmare if someone was to mess up. What I also appreciate about her is that no matter how busy she'd get at the old shop, she'd never rush on me and always took her time to make sure everything was good to go. For some reason, my gut feeling told me to jump on Yelp to search with her name and that's how I was reunited with her at Nayan Threading. I really like her new shop as everything is clean and new. The 1 star is for the lack of care when it came to waxing my mom's upper lip. Was the temperature too high when the worker placed it on my mom's lip? My mom immediately felt discomfort right when she started. This was not her first time there and this is not the first time she gets her upper lip waxed. However, this is the first time they actually burned her. My mom's skin was pink yesterday and today it was just so different. My mom called them to inform them to be more careful and asked if there was some after care they suggested. The person that answered apologized and said ok yes and to use aloe vera. That was it.
